That was my thinking when I first saw the names as well.

I always say DEL-eeh-uh, and juh-RY-uh, mostly because I think of the name "Jeremiah."

Del-IYE-ah, Ja-RYE-ah, Ten-EN-ee-ul Jo. But a very soft J on the last one.

I've looked everywhere google will let me and cannot find it, but does anyone know the correct pronunciation of Ghes Orade? Jess or Guess and Ore-aid or Or-odd-eh? Close? Way off? Any help here would be hot.

    Thanks [face_peace]

    Cool, thanks folks :)

Building this costume for it's cool looks and I stopped reading post-ROTJ EU after Bakura came out, but I wanted to be able to pronounce it correctly, or at least in line with popular opinion.

I rather like the S = Z thing, never thought of that.

I think, unless Ms. Traviss corrects me someday, I'll go with "Gehz Or-odd-eh" for now, as Mando'ade seems to be Odd-eh more often than Aid according to Mando philology sites.

I've always thought of it as "sh-IN-j", the first part like a hard "sh" sound, with a lot of force, moreso than in the usual English use. I imagine it being spoken in a harsh Germanic tone too, for some reason.

Like "Singe" but with a Z, according to the NEGTC.

Per Hydro. I just think of the "s" as silent.

    Jaina is "JAY-nah", right?

Because the other way sounds like a nickname for female privates...

Reading Allies currently, and "Eramuth" is driving me mad. ERA-mooth? eh-RAM-uth?

All the Revan talk is forcing me to confront a word I had been prepared to just let lie. Alas, I must ask...

    "Karpyshyn".

    I have one; Shira Brie.

For some reason, I want to pronounce it "Shy-ra Bree", but looking it over, that can't be right. Is it "Sheera Bry", instead?

Also, Whie, from Yoda Dark Rendezvous... "why" or "whee"?

I would assume "Car-peh-shin", though don't quote me on it.

Honestly, I think he's a better Kevin J Anderson. Very little subtlety or depth in his writing, but it never gets nauseating like some of KJA's can (Wedge and Qui Xux, in particular).

Oddly enough, I've enjoyed the writing on all the games he's worked on, but his novels haven't been up to the same level... either games are more his territory, or the fact that there's a lot of other writers on staff there to even him out.

Whie is totally Whee (same as Brie is Bree), and while I admit that Sheera makes a certain amount of sense, it just doesn't sit right for me - Shy-ra all the way.

Hm, so we've got Sheera Bree, Sheery Bry, and Shyra Bree. The third one is the one I want to say just looking at the word, but my natural instinct for saying Sci-fi words is usually off a bit. I think the second one might be the flashiest sounding, but I don't know.

I like Shy-ra just because having the "ee" sound in both names is a little much.
