The Official JCC Game of the Year 2009 Thread [Nominations CLOSED]

I stand corrected then. I had no idea TFU hadn't been released for the PC back then. Just goes to show how far LA has fallen, neglecting the one platform (and consumer base) that had been their main focus back in the day. Or is this just a sign of the times, that the PC is now irrelevant to all major players?

But I digress. Can we make a post about the overall top choices so far?

Huh, first time I've seen ODST on this list. As good as it was it's funny how old that game got after its first month. I should've added to my list Halo Wars as one of the top 3 new games of the year, but it seems the mere mention of anything "Halo" seems to bring forth the ire and disdain from hating lurkers everywhere I post...

 

I've started compiling the results, but will post a final count when the nominations close. Here's a few stats so far...

- 34 different games have been nominated so far.
- Best overall game: currently there's a three-way tie between Assassin's Creed II, Batman and Dragon Age.
- No love for the PSP yet.

 

I'm sure we can get more nominations than this! Even if you don't usually post here or just lurk, your nominations are more than welcome.

Also, don't forget you can just pick one or two games, you don't have to fill out the entire list.

 

I'm more of a lurker than a regular poster and, while I love playing video-games, I'm most definitely not hardcore as some of you. Also, I don't have a lot of money so my collection of titles isn't that grand and you don't want to play FPS with me, I suck big time...

I've hastily made a tally of overall mentions (not top choices) and so far this is what I got:

1) Assasin's Creed 2 (6 nominations)
2) Batman: Arkham Asylum (5 nominations)
3) Three way tie between Modern Warfare 2, Scribblenauts and Dragon Age (4 nominations ea.)

So, it's a horse race between the Dark Knight and the Florentine Avenger!

 

The funny part is that earlier in the year we all had that discussion about the similarities and differences between Ezio and Batman, and here they are again going head to head. I feel bad saying it, but I feel like if Batman came out in November and AC2 came out in... September was it? I'd probably have voted differently

I'm just gonna say "ditto" to this for my votes. I own a Wii but don't play it much at all, I just stick to my 360 really.

 

Yeah, it's kinda like the Oscars really, the more recent stuff is what's most prevalent in many voters minds come end-of-year. Had AC2 been released in September and Arkham released last month (thank the Force THAT didn't happen, though), the Dark Knight's game would be in everyone's mind at this point. Sadly, the 800 lb. gorillas in the room are frakkin' MW2, followed perhaps by Dragon Age, a game that probably deserves all the praise it's getting but it's one I'm probably never gonna play.
