No word on PC version yet, but as Starfighter 1 hasn't even been released for PC yet, this is no surprise!

 

I don't mind waiting for a delayed PC release if we get the SE next time too!

So does this mean that the game is titled Jedi Starfighter? This isn't just a substitle for Starfighter 2?

 

From the press release the game appears to be entitled "Jedi Starfighter".

We just called it "Starfighter 2" on the boards prior to the official announcement.

This is really cool. We fly as some movie characters this time. Obi-Wan, Adi. AS WELL as Nym! Awesome.

 

Videogames.com has a good interview about the game up, but the real treat is that the entire game is to have multi-player cooperative ability...any mission can have 2 players co-oping on it. Cool, no?

Anybody know what ships you get to fly in Jedi starfighter? And would it be advisable to get Starfighter or just wait for Jedi Starfighter? Oh and is there bound to be a hidden ship? And what all hidden ships are in Starfighter? And what are their weapons?

Yes, yes I have.
They say the Havoc is in there, but isn't that an old ship and not new?
That leaves 3 new craft. I guess that would be the Jedi craft and the and the Slave 1, but still missing one.
And the Starfighter homepage doesn't even mention the Sith Infiltrator so I can't find out the Primary or Secondary weapons.
Are there any other ships hidden besides the Sith Infiltrator in Starship Fighter.

 

WOOHOO SLAVE I! I knew it had to be in this game if the Infiltrator was a secret ship in the first Starfighter. Thanks for the cool pics, jp!

Trailer, plus March 11 release date......

I have to say the trailer is awesome.....the jedi starfighter puts an N-1 to shame....

Yeah the trailer was nice. Also in the latest SW gamer they had an article with some nice new screens.

 

Gamespot just confirmed Jedi Starfighter on Xbox. It will be released in May. No word on if they will upgrade the graphics. Guess that will be addressed when LA announces the game.

Xbox Jedi Starfighter

Though an official announcement has not been made, GameSpot has confirmed with LucasArts that Jedi Starfighter is indeed coming to the Xbox, though it will not be a special edition like the first Starfighter game for the Xbox. In Jedi Starfighter, players assume the role Adi Gallia, a Jedi pilot from Episode I, and Nym, a character featured in the original Starfighter. Adi must stop a plot that involves the destruction of the Jedi, while Nym must fight to reclaim his home planet from the Trade Federation. The game also includes a new split-screen cooperative mode where two players can go through missions together.
The Xbox version of Jedi Starfighter is scheduled for release in May. The PlayStation 2 version is still on track for a March 11 release.<<<

No big surprise considering they ported the Starfighter to the X-Box. They'll probably port JF over to a PC version eventually too. I have a feeling the conversions between the PS2, X-Box, and PC aren't that difficult which is why they do them relatively quick, but I could be way off base.

 

I don't think it was all that quick. The X-Box and PC edition followed about a year later. I'm sure it didn't take all that long to actually DO, but I wouldn't expect there to be a largely similar time margin this time around either.

And I have to ask AGAIN why the PC didn't get the special edition.
