I agree. I loved Betrayal, I thought it was one of Allston's best SW books- and yet, half the plotlines were dropped or completely shafted. Quite a lot of the book featured Syal Antilles' point of view...yet five books later, all we get is a mention of her gambling at Booster Terrik's casino. (Granted, we saw a bit of Myri in Exile). I thought Nelani's death was particularly moving, yet she was completely forgotten after Bloodlines...they only mentioned her when talking about 'Brisha Syo'.

And what about Doran Sarkin-Tainer? And speaking of background-character-Jedi-Knights, whatever happened to Klin-Fa Gi from the NJO?

 

Don't you think that its possible that Ben could have kids as a Sith? Not that I want that, but Sith mate to.

 

We don't typically see Sith children become respected members of the Jedi Council though.

Not really. Ben hasn't shown any interest in becoming a Sith. He's close to the dark side, but that's mainly because his mom was just murdered, and because of Jacen's influence on him while growing up, and this was from before Jacen formally embraced being a Sith.

Anyway, having a kid would requires love (unless its a one-night stand, but Sith are generally interested in power more than women), and most Sith are pretty greedy and self-centered. Although having a kid can drive one to become a Sith, as we've seen several times, but no, I don't see Sith having kids. Not unless it involves using the kid as a personal servant/heir.

Besides, I'd hope the Skywalker line would continue up to be decent, respectable Jedi, but... there's still a few decades for a lot of messed up, horrible things to happen, so anything's possible, I guess.

 

No, in Legacy it seems to be more like that 30 is the new 40. Very few older people. One could guess the average lifespan for Humans to be under 60.

I would prefer Ben becoming a Dark Jedi at least, if not a Sith. I don't think that I could stand him as the next big hero. He does seem to be positioned to take over that role. But it feels like "You have to take Ben, he's only we've got left. There's no one else." instead of him fitting in that role.

 

Exactly. How do you know Ben won't become the kind of Sith Jacen is planning for him to be, the kind that becomes so egotistical that he would go out and bed somebody just so he can make a little him to groom and fashion to be his heir? You don't. So you can't say that Ben won't become a Sith just because the Skywalker line continues on for two or three more generations. For all you know Ben does become a Sith but his son turns against him. Especially because, yes there are alot of decades left before Legacy starts. By my estimation it would be about eight give or take.

 

Alright, alright. This is all just speculation and guessing anyway. I'd hope they end LotF with the future sorta looking bright as Ben will be the next generation's rising star, as Anakin Solo's long dead, Jacen is dead (according to Han), and Jaina... well, she could end up as Empress, or just be a regular Jedi. I wouldn't mind her becoming a major leader in the NJO either, but no signs of that happening so far.

Anything's possible. Though we could also just end up with Ben becoming a Darth something in about another couple of years when the novels kick off another round of civil war.

And there's always cloning too, of course. Or giving Luke a new wife. He's not dead yet, and not all of Luke's girlfriends have died. Well, a majority have, so that's not exactly a good track record.

And mainly, I'm chalking it up to Ben hopefully being smarter than Jacen ever was. Despite years of being badly trained by Jacen, Ben still seems to retain a core sense of what's right and wrong. Then again, we've seen other good Jedi fall and become Sith Lords, so anything's possible.

Basically, it comes down anything goes.

One thing I hope I do end up being wrong about is the lack of progress until Invincible comes along to wrap everything up.

 

Believe me, nobody wants this to end on a positive note more than me. Its just that your reasoning for thinking Ben won't become a Sith was a bit flawed and I was just pointing that out before anyone else did. You just can't say someones not going to become evil just because you know they'll have a kid eventually. And really, we don't even know that. Its not impossible that Luke might learn to love again and have another son.

 

So are we expecting by Fury that Jacen has crafted a red lightsaber? If I remember correctly Luke took his at the end of their battle in Inferno.

 

He has it in Revelation - if the cover isn't totally wrong. Whether we see him having one already depends probably pretty much on the fact does he have to use one in Fury? As creating a new lightsaber seems to have been an important moment for Sith - considering how it was for Vader, even when that seemed to have greater importance for Sidious - I would like to see him to create his new lightsaber, not that it just gets mentioned. Although he might get his hands on some existing Sith lightsaber too.

 

Caedus' lightsaber will probably be red by Revelation, almost certainly, especially given that Luke and Ben ran away with Jacen's old lightsaber. However, don't take covers too literally though. Look at Tempest's cool cover of Tenel Ka holding a lightsaber and... I honestly can't remember if she even used her lightsaber ocne in that book.

A red lightsaber might be a bit too obviously Sith for the rest of the public to accept, given Vader wielded one, but then again, the people of the Star Wars galaxy have shown a huge capacity for being stupid, and people are whining a lot about wanting the Empire back after the NR screwed up against the Yuuzhan Vong, so maybe people will like a red lightsaber. Or, in Revelation, the GAG will be renamed the 501st. Now we just need to give Caedus a lava bath.

Caedus might be able to get his hands on an old one, Alema is supposed to be coming with Darth Vectivus' Holocron sooner or later. And Caedus might just ignore tradition and build a new one in a hurry, thinking that he's above such things, he's a new Sith. Or Caedus might just order someone to mass-produce a couple. Even Luke temporarily used another blade when he lost his blade during the Swarm War.

I don't expect Caedus to go too long without a lightsaber though. Despite his GAG army, he'd probably be wary of another assasination attempt by Luke Skywalker, and he'd need a lightsaber to counter Luke. Anti-Jedi tactics might work on most Jedi, like a bunch of YVH bodyguards armed with non-blaster weapons (missile launchers, flamethrowers, sonic weapons, etc.), but Luke's on a whole different level than most, so it takes more than the usual amount of anti-Jedi weapons to stop Luke.

Ok, I have today read through the OSWFC magazine. Official German Fanmagazin. And in the "books to come out" there was a german summary of "Fury". One that was much longer then the english one I saw everywhere on the net. The plot was identically, but it added a few points.

*Fury spoiler*

1. Jacen is avoided by his friends and allies and isolated(that is the german sentence translated word by word: avoided)
2. Jacen/Darth Caedus is invading a planet to secure the only person he still loves in the galaxy after a betrayal by another one he had loved.
3. Jag, Zekk and Jaina are hunting the true murder of Mara, who had ancient Sith-magic that can mirror their actions and even make them hurt themselves (I don´t know how to better translate)
4. Luke and Ben are consumed by mourning and unable to act.

So, point two was the one completely new to me. That´s why I stumbled over it . . .

Hope this isn´t old and I have just missed to read it anywhere.

 

The last one is definitely interesting though having Luke and Ben grieve so much that they can't act seems like a huge stepback from Luke and Ben trying to kill Caedus.

 

Yeah, I thought the same, But the Excerpt in Inferno already hinted something like that. And it´s only a summary, probably that will change throughout the book again.

 

If it's from an officially printed source, such as the Official Fan Club magazine, it's not technically a spoiler but I'm sure people will be pleased with the HTR out of respect.

Well, I could imagine they have printed something they weren´t allowed to, or they should not have printed yet. So I thought I better treat it as a spoiler. Just in case. I used the Darth_C once and was hunted by and army of mods And my who is going to miss MJ wasn´t so popular, too. Both without evil intent. So I thought: play it save, this time, Fin

. . . is this Invasion seriously an attack on Hapes itself? I could imagine that this would be the beginning of Darth Caedus end. Even his last supporters must reconsider their allegiance, then.

 

If Jacen wipes out those weirdos on Hapes he will have gained my respect. A shred of it, at least.

 

Well I imagine Caedus is gonna move against Hapes in SOME way. If for no other reason than to get at Allana.
