No war can last forever. Now, in the long and punishing battle between the defiant champions of the New Jedi Order and the juggernaut that is the Galactic Alliance, the endgame is finally at hand.

The rebel cause is losing ground under the twin blows of Admiral Gilad Pellaeon?s assassination and the death of Mara Jade Skywalker. At the same time, the Galactic Alliance, with the extraordinary power and dark brilliance of newly ascendant Sith Lord Darth Caedus at its helm, may be unstoppable. Tormented and torn between the call of duty and the thirst for vengeance, Luke has searched the Force and beheld an unspeakable vision of the galaxy enslaved under tyranny more monstrous than even Palpatine?s. Now it seems that the last, best hope lies in mobilizing the scattered Jedi for one decisive search-and-destroy mission. The objective: eliminate Darth Caedus.

It?s a plan that will be as difficult and dangerous to execute as it is daring. For Caedus is a scion of both the Skywalker and Solo bloodlines whose command of the Force surpasses even that of his grandfather Darth Vader. There is only one who is bound by destiny to stand against him in what will surely be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo.

The furious final moments between power and peace are here, and whoever confronts Darth Caedus will decide the outcome?and the fate of those left standing.

And now, those spoilers. You can find the various summaries that are now online though [link=http://theforce.net/books/story/Invincible_Teasers_113862.asp]this story[/link] at the main site.

As to the plotline, the persistent message of the blurbs is this: Luke is caught between his desire for revenge and his sense of Jedi responsibility, and it seems to be Jaina's destiny to confront Darth Caedus.

Mention is now being made of some more details: after Luke sees a vision suggesting a tyranny worse than Palpatine's, he sends the Jedi after Caedus - and Jaiina will be backed up on her mission by Han and Leia, and Zekk and Jag.

I guess the first question (apart from why Kyp and Lowie seem to have no roles in Team Jaina any more :p) is how reliable the [link=http://theforce.net/books/story/Invincible_Summary_Confirmed_113044.asp]plot details[/link] on the Science Fiction Book Club website are.

This summary is clearly based in part on the same basic information as the others; and its author seems to have read the preview chapter in the previous novel as well; but it also makes uncorroberated claims that there will be:

[b]1.)[/b] a counter-attack against the Imperial conquest of the Roche Asteroid Belt depicted in the preview chapter

[b]2.)[/b] an attack on the new Jedi base at the edge of the Hapes Cluster, named here as "Shedu Maad".

There was also something weird about Luke masking Jaina with his own image... though I could see that leading to much comedy with Jaina, Jag and Zekk.

I'm really interested in what part Luke will play in Jacen's death/defeat/redemption.

As for Jacen's final fate, I'm calling it first: he'll pull a Vader and die while saving Allana.

Well we know he survives because he later does the wild thing with someone.

The vision Luke sees of tyranny worst than Palpatine, is it possible he is seeing Krayt's Empire from Legacy? Caedus will most likely die but appear really invincible in this book.

Hmmmm i wonder what this vision is that luke sees??
Could this possibly mean Caedus survives??
i know it is just a vision-but it is nice to see the bad guys win, makes it more interesting.
With the force spirits of Luke and Mara showing up in the Legacy comic series,I assume
Luke's death will be dealt with in a novel in the sometime near future...

Its been quite a few months since the last good Star Wars books, let's hope Invincible at least goes out with a bang. Allana probably survives, as does Ben, since Hapes hasn't ripped itself apart by the Legacy era and the existence of Cade Skywalker, though the Legacy comic writers still haven't shared too many details on whether Cade really is descended from Ben. But one Skywalker kid is enough, I hope. If there were multiple children of Luke, then I'd be worried for their fate, look at how the Solos have turned out.

Hm, one month before release. Hopefully spoilers will start popping up within a week or two. Unfortunately, they've probably learnt not to post online versions of the book by now.

Still don't care much for that cover, but at least Jaina finally gets a LotF cover.

why send Han and Leia though??Surely they cant talk him out of it now!!!
hopefully Leias' vision of Jacen and her flying out a window on a spaceship will come to fruition.
I just cant believe they would send ALL of those characters...Why not just the Jedi
    to save the galaxy??
I really hope Caedus survives and strikes down jaina....but then again,i guess all the Mandalore training and fett weaving in and out of the novels would be for nothing!!

Why else would Mara visit Cade if it wasn't a descendant of Ben? Otherwise it would have no relationship to her.

It's a family affair. This is their last chance to make Jacen see reason. When there is a very mentally ill person, it's best if the whole family confronts that person. If Jacen doesn't see reason, I know how Jaina can stop him. Kiss him. The shock and disgustingness of his sister's lips on his would cause him to have a heart attack.

Talk of power-lineage if Ben-Allana were to conceive (non-incestual deformed) children. It would be akin to the old English kings ago.

In the mix of that blood would be:

    1 Luke Skywalker
    1 Mara Jade
    2 Darth Vader
    1 Leia Solo
    1 Han Solo
    1 Jacen Solo
    1 Tenal Ka
    1 Shmi Skywalker
    1 Ben Skywalker
1 Allana (whatever her last name is)
1 Tenenial Djo (or whatever Tenal Ka's mother's name was)

Of all of those, only what, 2 non-force sensitives? Wow.

I was wondering when this was gonna get posted. :p

Still hoping for a Force-stripping of Jacen. I think that would be the only way he's surviving this that would be palatable to me. THen again, I might end up horribly disappointed.

    Nice colors, Lank. ;)

I'm rather hoping that the "spoilers" from SFBC are less than accurate. I'm liking the sound of the book from the RH synopsis quite a lot, though I must say that I really maintain hopes that it isn't the "duel to the death" the jacket predicts.

Interesting possibilities raised by that, though. [face_thinking]

I'm wondering what role Tahiri will play, and hopefully it isn't just to survive to be the villain of the next book to come out. Maybe if Jacen is redeemed by someone, she'll kill him, and then be struck down by someone else?

Tenel Ka has to have a major role to play in this too, and we know she isn't any Padme, but I'm afraid she'll die. Zekk going with Jaina into the final confrontation means almost certainly that he'll die. I am kind of worried about Han, since he would have no resistance against any Force attack by Jacen. Jag is more vulnerable too, but I'm pretty sure he's safe, and maybe some impressive strategy will convince the Imperials to invite him into a high spot in their military. What will happen to them and Leia that leaves Jaina alone to confront Jacen has me nervous, since I know even if one is struck down that would only make the rest fight harder.

I have no idea what Luke and Ben will do. Maybe Luke brings whatever's left of the Confederacy into Niathal's government, so when Jacen's gone they'll be be part of the GA again. Maybe Ben uncovers a plot by Boba Fett and Daala to betray the Jedi after the war, tells his father but doesn't let him handle it alone like he did with Mara, and they take down Boba once and for all as father and son.

Allana must have a role to play as well, but Tenel Ka or anyone would never let her near Jacen or a battle. Maybe Jacen kidnaps her again, tking her into a safe location this time, his "lion's den"? Could Jaina really kill Jacen in front of his young daughter, her niece?

    Jaina - Jag - Zekk :D

The savviest, sexxiest strike team in the galaxy will strike again with Han and Leia. Plus, the Grand Master, "shielding" the Sword. :D

    Oh,...oh,....oh...I feel a Caedus thumping! [face_mischief]

I'm not as convinced that he will die, as I used to be; although, the summary does say "duel to the death" which pretty much...sums it up, I think? :p Regardless of whether or not he crawls out of it, he is going to get thumped.

Sorry, Cyn...I had to say it. [face_batting]

My question is, where is Ben Skywalker? He's not mentioned in any summaries or "blurps". I just find that odd, and wonder what his role will be.

Darth Ghost: I think the Big Three are safe from dieing in this book. Certainly it's not a given, but I feel that if they were going to kill them in LotF, which ever one would have been the sacrifice.
