    they must just be narrow then, makes them look longer.

    my hilt's at 31.5 cm, not much different, but it's got wiperblade grips in it, it's much wider

    i don't have a digital camera, but i might be able to take a picture with a regular camera, get it developed, and scan it. or i might be able to get a picture cd or something. that'll be a while.

    No, its not heavy, it was ALL of the stuff inside the MR. The hilt was light without all those things that made it light up.

    R1ceBoi58, very nice conversion. I've always been a fan of the Luke/Anakin Graflex saber.

    I disabled the sound on my Anakin Force FX, but I'd never rip out the best part. That little guy is one of my best Star Wars investments, because I love the interactive lighting I can do with it :D

    Here's my Buddy. I made him almost a year ago. I went through three different designs but I'm happy with this one. I can even pull the jewel cup out and Secure my Rotoscoping dowel inside back and forth. As Han always says...

    "It may not look like much but it's got it where it counts...I made alot of special modifications myself..."

    All I fight with is wood, Neo.
    If you can't stand the weight, get off the battlefield.
    =)

    That's mostly because I can't find aluminum around here. Wood works well enough, if you have a bit of arm strength on you.
    Luckily, my years playing tennis helped with that. Some moves are a little harder to achieve if you're going for a fast style, but a lot is still possible.

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v511/Vaportrail1519/Picture001.jpg]

    Those have all been altered since then, and I've started to cut the hilts shorter when I make them as well and use 3/4" broomsticks as the blades. Works well for me.

    the problem is it changes your style and limits your movement and speed, and it's not believable unless the weight and movement is hilt-centred. i sugest a bamboo blade and a heavy hilt.

    Corrin, please read the first post in this thread. I really wish you hadn't posted those pics. They're even linked directly from the maker's website which could be trouble. This is exactly the type of thing I and the mods wished to avoid in this thread. If the owner's of Randomsabers wanted to, they could sue TFN for this as they own the copyright to those specific pictures. Also many websites have the legal right to take action for any direct linking to their material. They probably won't as it's free advertising but still... they could if they really wanted to.

    I also wanted people to avoid expressing their opinion on what blade or hilt material they think is better (unless asked). Oh well, I had a feeling people were not going to follow that one.

    To everyone, please refrain from posting pics taken directly from websites... even if you downloaded the pics and uploaded them to photobucket or whatever. I don't want TFN to get in any trouble over copyright issues. Thank you.

    Here are my babies. They're extremely simple, but they got the job done for "A Day in The Life." I fitted them with 1" aluminum tubes and they worked well.

    I bought those sabers.

    If he has any problem with me posting images of my merchandice on TF.n, which are hosted on his website with my permission, he can take the pictures down and not show them in his gallery.

    You have a point. I'm still not sure how all that plays out legally but anywho. I was just trying to play "by the rules" so to speak. No worries.

    Here are some pics of one of my RLSA Sabers. The blade is 1" OD polycarbonate with a 1/8" thick wall. Inside is a 1 watt blue Luxeon LED (with optics) mounted via that sticky thin foam tape stuff to a "heat sink" made from standard round aluminum bar stock. Two grooves were machined on each side of the heat sink so that the wires could run from the top to the bottom of the heatsink when it's inside the saber hilt. Currently (and most likely permanently) I'm not using a "driver" (that's a fancy word for a circuit board with... circuitry on it) in between the battery pack and the LED. Instead I am running the battery power straight to the LED. I'm using 4 AAA batteries as the power source. As I am only going to use this to light the saber for night time use in a fan film where the blade will eventually be rotoscoped over, I do not need a driver that simulates the ignition/retraction effect and the "clash" effect. Three pieces of foam are used to keep all of the electronics inside the hilt, snugly in place. The blade is being held in by a lot of duct tape wrapped around the part that sticks out past the inner emitter as well as the three screws that hold the inner emitter piece inside the hilt.

    None of the photos have been touched up in any way but they do appear brighter than when viewing the saber in person. The blade is still very bright though, I should have a video to post soon.

    IMHO, this saber can be used for extreme dueling.

    Here's the saber hilt with 2 emitters. The one inside the saber is bored out to 1". The other one is bored out to 3/4".
    [image=http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/Evil-Henchman/Lightsaber%20hilts%20and%20blades/Saberhiltwithextrainsert.jpg]

    Here is the film used inside the polycarbonate tube. It diffuses the light well and makes the blade look much better and brighter.
    [image=http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/Evil-Henchman/Lightsaber%20hilts%20and%20blades/Bladefilm.jpg]

    Here are 3 pics of the 1" in dia. rounded tip (not sure if it's polycarbonate or acrylic) that has a small round piece of reflective chrome tape on the bottom. Sorry about the focus.

    The battery pack...
    [image=http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/Evil-Henchman/Lightsaber%20hilts%20and%20blades/AAAbatterypack.jpg]

    ... and the switch.
    [image=http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/Evil-Henchman/Lightsaber%20hilts%20and%20blades/Switch.jpg]

    The switch is currently unmounted and just sits loose inside the hilt. I'll be replacing it with a better switch soon that I will hopefully have permanently mounted on the side of the hilt near the bottom/pommel.

    Here's two pics of the LED already mounted in the "optics" and mounted to the heat sink. The optics are somewhat similiar to the lightbulb housing in a flashlight in that it reflects the light in a more direct path.

    i was thinking, if i got mine made by randomsabres, i'd have to get them to do that for me. those skinny obi-wan emmitters are impossible to put a blade through

    if only people would rotoscope like that

    Yeah, the original emmiter was the 3/4" one but it won't do for what I use for blade material most of the time.
