Randy: Was Traitor not the best book?? Have you read Shatterpoint? (Whoa!) And I am soooo psyched about Stover writing the Ep. III novelization.

Good luck with the youth minister thing. The AG church that I grew up in did not allow thinking outside of the AG Box...it would?ve been nice to have had a role model NOT bowing to the organization. (Probably one of the reasons why I?m Episcopalian now, LOL.)

Chuck: OK, but did any of you 501st guys read Survivor?s Quest? I mean, you know what the 501st spent the whole book doing, don?t you? ;) 8-} (And if you tell me you have an autographed copy, I may have to go Dark Side....)

Ben: There you go adding all those ?u?s again. [face_mischief] So, when are we all coming to visit you in London? :D

Dale: I didn?t think ?too much? collecting was possible...or so I?m told. [face_laugh]

:) I know what you mean. I'm going to try to talk to the pastor tomorrow to see if he'll hire me. He's my old youth pastor, so I'm hoping he'll let me in even though I'm not officially AG.

I have not read the book. As I said I don't read much. (In fact, I read Harry Potter 3, 4, and 5 last year and I read the Dark Tower in 1987 and nothing else.) But from what I understand, the 501st in the book are actually good guys helping Luke and Mara. Is that the case? I should tell you I have an autographed copy because I know you'd be drooling. But I don't :( I did not get to go with the Southern Outpost to his book signing in Lexington, KY on Feb. 7th. If I had been there, I'd have one. I heard that all active 501st members are supposed to get one but I don't know how true that rumor is.

    Hehe.
Although mouthing "Get your coat love, you're pulled" through the window didn't work. ;)

There you go adding all those ?u?s again. So, when are we all coming to visit you in London?

I wondered if anyone would notice the U's :D

And funny you should mention visiting. The flat deal is now nearly done and dusted. If you or Lin are ever in the neighbourhood, I may be able to put you up on a sofa (although I can't promise)

Ben:Couch, floor- wouldn't matter, unless it's the Tower of London. Shckles tend to make me chafe! Actually, I just heard that they are going to be filming the next Batman movie in London- so keep and out out for any bat-sightings!

Chuck:Are you going to make it to MSC? I saw that several 501st are planning to make the trip back. Oh, and don't feel bad- I'm reading 'Shadows of the Empire' and it's the first SW book I've read since high school!

Traci:Patience, young padawan- an autographed copy will come to you in time. It iss as I have forseeeen...

Randy:Did you see Billy Dee play the pastor on 'That 70's Show'? He actually used SW in his sermon! To funny...

No, I missed that episode, however I actually used Star Wars in a sermon I had to give at school for Youth. I showed the clip where Luke givess in to his anger and gave Vader a beat down in ROTJ. I think the title of the sermon was "Don't give in to your Dark Side." ;)

    Too cool!

I miss my youth pastor/church. I went to Broadway Baptist back when it was on Shelby and the youth ministry was at SBEC near Whitehaven back in the late 7o's, early 80's. They usually had a guest speaker, movie, or musical act. And our youth minister would talk 'to' you, not 'at/down' to you- or be preachy. He had a good sense of humor and wasn't long winded.

That all changed when I started going to the BIG church. All the pastor could do was talk about everybody going to hell and giving more money to the church so they could keep up with Bellevue!

My nieces seem to really like thier youth minister and his wife down at Trinity in S'haven.

Yep, the five 501st members were supposed to be escorts for the Jedi...at least that was their cover story. (It was funny: Mara showed up at the door with stormtroopers following her in formation and Luke was thinking, "What the....??")

Oh, and one of them was an alien! Look for troopers with faces painted green/orange with black scales at future Cons, LOL.

    General Star Wars stuff:
How long have you been a SW fan?

    Since '77

Describe your first SW movie experience: Which movie? When? Where? etc.
My Dad and my brother took me to either the Village or Hoyts in Bourke St, Melbourne. They're not far from each other and I can't remember which it was. My brother couldn't have cared less. My Dad was hooked the same moment I was, as soon as the Star Destroyer came in over the top of the screen.

Which is your favorite SW movie?
Star Wars. Oh, alright then.... ANH (mumbles ......still 'Star Wars' to me......)

    Favorite character?
    Han, Darth Maul

Other SW interests? (collecting, gaming, costuming, fan fiction, books/comics/EU, etc.)
I'd love to do costuming, but time and money tend to get in the way. I've got a couple of models sitting in boxes waiting to be built, but currently I'm going through a bit of a phase of building things out of paper. Feel free to check out Attack of the Folds to see some of my stuff. Sadly, the rebels (aka 'kids') have gotten to the walker. He's now one very sick boy and it looks as if it might be a complete rebuild from scratch and the original might have to 'assist' with lighting the fire during winter. My current pride and joy is a three and a half foot Star Destroyer that's been in the building yards for a bit over a year. I'm hoping to get some photos of that one up soon.

    About you:
What other interests/hobbies do you have outside of SW?

Maps, maps, MAPS!!! I'd like the time to get into woodturning and general carpentry/cabinet-making. I'm an avid Aussie-Rules fan, but being from Victoria I'm the typecast sports nut and generally follow just about anything.

    Favorite TV show(s)?
Hitch-Hiker's. Anything mechanical 'techy' on Discovery or National Geographic channels. I like the History channel as well, anything on Pyramids or Egypt or the Spaniards and the Incas. My box LIVED on the Tech-TV channel until our broadcaster lost the rights to it.

    Favorite movie(s)?
Well, the OBVIOUS ones of course.....
    Plus:
Indiana Jones, Excalibur, The (ORIGINAL) Italian Job, The Man Who Would Be King, Highlander plus The Matrix and The Blues Brothers (odd group but the first films seem best these ones), LOTR (yes.... *I* bloody liked them!!!), anything Monty Python, Spinal Tap
    Also,
Great Escape, Shawshank Redemption, Cool Hand Luke (bit of a running theme there)

    Favorite book or author?
Let me loose in a bookshop and I'll generally walk out with anything on either SW, LOTR or Australian history. Also I love the Jack Ryan series by Tom Clancy.

    Favorite song or artist?
Eclipse or One of these Days, both Pink Floyd songs, are right up there for me.

    Favorite quote?
'It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others' from the Demotivational Poster series.
Another would be Gandalf's lines in Fellowship about not choosing what time we live in but choosing what we do with the time we've got.

    Favorite holiday?
Christmas. For the looks on the kids faces.

    Optional:
    First name?

    John

    Age?
    35

Do you live in Memphis or one of the suburbs?
    Uuuhhh....not quite....
I live in Kilmore East, Victoria, Australia. I doubt even Kilmore would make it onto any of the maps you guys would get your hands on.

    Profession or college major?
To quote the greatest line in science fiction history: (from Close Encounters of the Third Kind)
"I'm not an official interpreter....my occupation is Cartography. I'M A MAPMAKER!!!" And I won't crow about WHO makes the breakthrough later in the film......... Oh, well, yes I will really. You can guess who, can't you?

    Misc:
Wife, two kids, two dogs, two cats, a pony, two sheep, a rooster and two chooks, two turtles and a lizard. As well as a variety of poisonous snakes and spiders that seem to want t

My current problem with the Retaliator (as I've decided to name it, is finding just the right sized balls to do the radar/sensor domes on top of the bridge.

I've managed to scrape up a couple of mouse balls but they're still a fraction small. (Not to mention bloody hard to catch.........)
