Yes the season is over but this wouldn't be much a sports forum with a Yankees Appreciation Thread. I welcome all who want to talk about Yankees' baseball. Yes, even the Yankee haters. Do try to control yourself though. And keep the "Yankees Suck" posts to a minimum. ;)

I grew up watching the Yankees. I don't think I could ever warm up to another team . . . especially the Mets. And that is why I married a Mets fan. :p

    Yankees suck. :)

    :p

No, the Yankees are great. Without them being so evil, Gonzo's blooper might've meant less in the grand scheme of things. :p

While you're here tell Jete's that you don't really hate him. ;)

Anybody with half a brain knows he's a class act and a great guy.

It's okay to be jealous about his talent though. ;)

P.S: Gonzo got lucky. He should have never even been up at the place. ;)

I don't hate Jeter. I just strongly dislike him.

    He's a little too smug... and he's a yankee.

Yeah, that's why he didn't give A-Rod his support when he needed it most.

I'm fine with that, though. The better for us Yankee haters. :p

Proctor could be headed to rotation

I am definately in favor of that move.

Also I just noticed that Wang was runner up in the Cy Young voting. :)

I am also very much in favor of moving Scott to the rotation, he'll have the capacity to help us much more there.

As a lifelong Orioles fan it's hard to rally behind the Yankees. As one who appreciates their legend and history, the dynasty throughout the ages that is the Yankees is amazing. Some of the best players in the history of the game came through New York.

Agreed. He has pretty darn good stanima too. Plus charisma he'd definately give us 110% every time. He's also pretty smart out on the hill. I've rarely questioned his pitching selection.

Well I'm glad that you can actually show some respect Sapient and not be completely blinded with hate.

I love sports dynasties even when they're not my own team. That's why I loved the dynasties of the Celtics, UCLA, Bulls, Yankees, and the Lakers. It would be nice once in awhile to go to the O's. But when you're talking Gehrig, DiMaggio, Ruth, etc... they're simply one of the most storied franchises ever.

What's your opinion of the current Yankees?

Lately, I think they're a group of higly paid and extremely talented players formed by George Steinbrenner who are not a team. They are not a team, a unit like their predecessors. Sure, you can assemble lots of people, do well, and maybe get a championship. But to repeat it again and again and restore the legend, you have to become a team, a family, stay together from draft to retirement. It's a problem in all of baseball, but more noticeably the Yankees because of their payroll.

I would agree with that perception 100 percent, Sape.

Another example of what you were speaking of was the O'Neal/Bryant/Malone/Payton Laker team that got shellacked in the playoffs a few years back.

And it all started after the loss to the Marlins. Which is why I'm willing to see the Yanks fail the next several years if they need to to get that family feeling back that we had in 1996-2002. Though 2002 could be questionable.

What I meant though Sapient is who do you have alot of respect for on the current Yankees. :p

I used to hate the Yankees.

Now, I hate the Red Sox much, much more.
