Usernames with different colors mean many things dependent on the colors.

Multi-colored names, such as Jedi_Daniel, denote a status of currently being a Moderator, Maneger, or Administrator of one of the JC forums.

Simple red names, such as RidingMyCaroselOnYou, usually mean that this person has formerly been a Moderator, Manager, or Administrator of the JC.

Red names like in the previous example can also be given who do something important/nice for the JC forums. Temporary colors are given to:

-Banner artists
-The Extended Universe Community Senate Chancellor
-The hosts of many games that award colors as prizes
-Icon artists who have had their icon creations added to the accepted icons of the forums.


The average user has a few options of getting temporary colors.

Win them in a game (ie. Teh Mole, Who Wants to be a Million Colors, Classic Trilogy Trivia). Note: these will be multi-colored names such as Daniel's for 24hrs to a week.

Creating a banner or icon and having it used by the JC.

Becoming Chancellor of the EUC Senate. Colors for this last 90 days.

Running a large game that gives away colors as a prize (not guaranteed).

The best thing to do is to simply accept that you don't have colors, few do, and live with it. Or you could be banned 10+ times for playing Mafia, Million Colors and CT Trivia like I have though I have had colors twice.

Why do nice and long PMs about a childhood with SW not delivered via PM? Just because they are way to long? Did not really get the text that was telling me why my PM failed. Sigh!

Sometimes the JC eats PMs, it's a glitch that occasionally cannot be avoided. If you know you are writing a long/important PM or post I would suggest doing it in Word where you can save it should the JC munch it up.

 

And it might allow spell-checking on top of that

Some need it more than others, but still, nice especially for long posts/PM's

edit: spelling I guess I could have followed my own advice, but I thought, well it is so short, what can go wrong ...

About staying short: a well, I am even more talkative than C3PO as times. My friends say that there is no use in writting postcards from my holidays. Letters would be better and save them from permanent eye damage!

No, the Icon would have to be uploaded to the JC server. Like the icon you have was created by someone at sometime or another. This person may have gotten colors for it. The icon creator rules change, I believe they used to get just a title, but now you can't get a title without being a VIP so maybe they're getting colors...

Perhaps Daniel could enlighten us.
