I have a question about beta readers.

I know that to get a piece of fan fiction added to the official archive, it must be beta read by two beta readers.
Now say I wrote a fanfic, had it beta read by someone who volunteered from the boards, I posted it on the boards, then had it beta read by one of the beta readers on the official beta readers list. Would the first person count as one of the two beta readers required to submit, or do both beta readers have to come from the official list?

Well, admittedly I do not know for certain, not yet having finished a fanfic myself. However, reading the FanFic Orientation Guide, while it confirms what you wrote here about the two beta's as a prerequisite for addition to the archive, the beta readers list is only mentioned as one way to find a good (set of) beta's. To quote: "You can find a beta by looking for one in the Beta Reader Index. You can also ask for one there.", but before it also mentions adoption as a good way to get a beta reader. The info about the archive doesn't say that beta's have to be on this list.

Um, that was rather long wasn't it? So in short: I am not entirely certain, but it seems they do not have to be from the official beta list. Don't be afraid to PM a FanFiction moderator about it though (or ask your beta that is on the list?) Succes with your fanfiction!

I have a question..I don't know if someone has asked it before, sorry if they have. I was reading through something on here..and it said something about earning stars for posts. Has that been discontinued?
Obviously it probably has..but why?)

Well, asking doesn't hurt, so thanks for the question Since I am not really a writer yet, I'll not attempt to give you tips I don't know that work, sorry. But, I do think the best thing you can do now is check out the FanFiction FAQ it already answers quite a few questions, and if it doesn't, you will already be in the FanFiction Resource section of the boards, which does contain oogles of information on writing SW (and other) fanfiction, plus people experienced enough to give tips.
