In case you haven't heard. Perry is co-writing a clone wars duology with Micheal Reeves-of Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. It is called the Medstar duology and will focus on Barris Offee and a team of Republic healers. The two books are titles "Battle Surgeons" and "Healer" and will be released in July and August of 2004.

There's a Literature thread on the duology that has different release dates. July and October, I believe. Del Rey has always released duologies 3 months apart.

Nice to have a CW book in cheaper paperback, one of the few there is. Look how many are hardcover: twice the price, and a long year of waiting for me!

By the way, there is a quote at the beginning of Shadows: "Face it, if crime did not pay there would be very few criminals." It's by a guy named Laughton Lewis Burdock. Does anyone know who this person is? I looked him up on Google, in encyclopedias, everywhere I could think of -- nothing. Is he a friend of the writer or something? If anyone knows, please tell me. This has been nagging me ever since I first read Shadows.

I'm surprised that more people haven't posted in this thread....

IMAO, SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE is one of the best written EU books, and it definitely tops my list, (followed closely by Karen Traviss' REPUBLIC COMMANDO:HARD CONTACT). The originality in the book was just....great.
After the Zahn books in the early 90's, SotE really made me love SW and the EU all over again. I particularily enjoyed Mr. Perry's portrayal of Darth Vader, but I also liked the character of Dash Rendar. Xizor, (prenounced SHEE-ZOR), was also a favourite.
His MedStar duology with Michael Reaves was also a very good read, and on my list of favourite EU books, they would be a close-tie for second, pushed only to third by RC:HC.

I loved the Medstar books. I especially loved my hardcover from SFBC. I also loved Mr. Perry's song "Oh, Sherry" and all of his work with Journey. Except for "Lights". That song sounded like it was going to rock but it never did.
