Waiting is a personal choice. I waited for a person, not a ring.

Exactly, waiting for marriage just because it's a tradition (whether it be religious tradition or other) is just ... dumb, honestly. My opinion is to wait until you feel ready and it feels right.

In the meantime, there's always Bleu Nuit on TQS!

EDIT: Just to clarify, I think doing anything just because of tradition is dumb.

C-3PX, I'm waiting for marriage, and I haven't died yet...

WK, I actually like what you said about waiting for a person, not a ring. However, look at it this way: when you meet the right person, and you're prepared to love them and devote yourself to them, you should just get married! Then you can have all the sex you want, and everybody will be happy! Especially your parents, your future children, etc...

PS, whether you're planning on having children or not, it can still happen, so isn't it better to do everything in their best interest?

Bah, my parents don't care if I'm married or not. I'm pretty damn sure they had sex before they were married, considering they lived in tiny 1 bedroom apts for years.

As for kids, just ask Tara about that ;)

EDIT: And we are getting married (read: this thread), just not right away.

EDIT 2: And I'm not going to wait for marriage just because it's tradition in some religion I don't believe in (no offense)

Well, it's tradition, yes. But I was talking more to C3PX and AT than you and Tara. Like I said, I'm really glad you're getting married. However, the fact is, marriage in God's eyes is not finalized by the exchanging of rings and vows, but rather by sex. Sex is the ultimate expression of love, and it is the sign of 2 people "becoming one flesh" as the biblical symbol of marriage. The only reason I advocate "marriage" as it is today is that it symbolizes a deeper committment in our society (not so much religion), and two people who have fallen in love should have the deepest committment to each other. It breaks my heart to see people who have been lovers break up, whether they were married or not, because they may as well have been.

as Ryan said: for future children to be happy.

My parents didn't get married,(later on they didn't have the time to), and it's really quite a crappy feeling I get when people ask why I have a different last name from my father.
