Lit The Omas Institute - Caractères Sans Dessins

The goal of this thread is to compile, and at least roughly prioritize, established characters who've never been given a canon visual representation. It is my hope that by late 2013, many of the characters we discuss will finally be shown in either the Essential Reader's Companion or the Third Essential Guide to Characters, and this conversation will serve to highlight which ones still remain unseen, so that we may more effectively whine about it going forward.

I've gone through all the characters brought up in the temp thread (and wooked a few of them, I'm not ashamed to admit) and culled the list down to the ten characters I think could most stand a picture. I would've loved to have twenty or thirty in the poll, but the forum won't let me, so I had to employ an extensive selection process--taking into account number of appearance, galactic importance, members of unseen species, etc. Then I added Ace Azzameen, because I damn well felt like it. You can vote for as many as you want, but I'd prefer everybody kept it to three--and by all means, continue adding new suggestions below if you have any.

Just for the record, the below spoiler tag is my full list of everybody that's been mentioned so far. Also for the record, there were five very close runners-up that I wanted in the poll but couldn't manage - Ars Veruna, Bhindi Drayson, Ephin Sarreti, Goran Beviin, & Sien Sovv. In other words, four humans whose appearance are unlikely to astonish anybody, and one aging Sullustan in a navy uniform.

Do we even know what species Xim was?

 

Human

 

Yes, yes, and yes. It's bad enough he disappeared completely. But to not have an image is a disgrace.

 

I'd actually love for the new Guide to Characters to reveal that Xim really is a pre-human colonisation, Tionese species called a "Despot", that the Hutts wiped out to extinction.

PS: I would favor a pic of Blotus and he needs to be wearing chancellor gowns.

 

Harrsk, Teradoc and Delvardus are basically my Cal Omases. It's only fitting I break away and go rogue when everyone else is celebrating seeing him at last

Now all I need is a picture of Garik Loran uncomfortably shaking hands with Teren Rogriss on the Agonizer and I'll be a very happy chappy!

 

I was just thinking how much I'd love to see Admiral Betl Oxtroe. A shot of the two of them together is quite possibly the thing I'd like to see more than anything else, and the shot least likely to ever turn up in the future.

 

If they do art for Xim the Despot, I desperately hope they draw him to look like Ming the Merciless from the old Flash Gordon movie. not just for the appearance, but because it would be a nice nod to Lucas wanting to do Flash Gordon before he ended up making Star Wars.

 

Tionese. "Human" may be a broader category, but let's not offend Xim's memory by putting Coruscani rabble on the same level.

 

We do have a lot of incredible authors like Jason Fry who come here a lot and really listen to what fans have to say. For example, the EGTW gave Shea Hublin an entire profile because he was so universally interesting to fans. I say we wait until a fitting sourcebook with an author that comes here often pops up on the radar, and between the two of us we should be able to kick up enough of a fuss that they have to throw it in!

 

Pff, Coruscant just finally needs to acknowledge they are in fact a Tion colony.

 

And I'm sure that Notron continues in the tradition of the primitive forebears of the proud Tionese people.

Gorefiend, the Tionese would never claim that Notron was a former colony - no true Tionese could degenerate so! But the Tionese do acknowledge the proud people of Alsakan as distant cousins.

 

The Seoularianas were just guessing, being stuck in Wild Space and extinct doesn’t give them that much credit.

 

Xim, Blotus, Seerdon.

 

Sien Sovv in uniform would be rather cool. Especially if he had some white facial hair and wasn't a generic copy of Nien Nuub. Show me some unique looking Sullustans!

I wanna see pictures of the newer generation Wraiths. Show me a group pics of NJO-era and Mercy Kill's Wraiths. Bhindi Drayson, Sharr, Myri Antilles, all of 'em. Oh, and old man Piggy.
