For those who don't already know, there is an online web-strip called "The Order of the Stick"

It's a funny strip dealing with AD&D 3.0 -> 3.5 and is just a generally funny read for those of us with RPG habits.

    Main link: http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript
    Beginning: http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=1

Funniest bit thus far: Spot checks.

"I think I just failed a Spot check."
    "Ummmm... we're RIGHT here."
"Wait! I think I just failed a Listen check."

I love this strip! I've never even played D&D, but from what I've picked up from D20 and SWRPG, I get a lot of the RPG jokes. It's freaking hilarious.

    Nice sig dp4m. #208

    So, Varsuuvius: Man or Woman?

Actually if you look through the boards then you'll see that Rich hasn't given Vaas a gender, any mentioning of gender in the story is merely from a characters presumed perspective.

At first I thought that was a gown and V was a woman, but now I know it's robes.

Yeah, I love this RPG. The lead shield was funny. As was the Samurai discussion.

Wow, seems like this board has been nearly totally dead since you posted that.
Guess everyone is catching up on reading 240 odd comix.

    :)

I got in somewhere around 106 I think and it (no joke) stopped my productivity at work dead for ~3 straight hours -- it was that funny.

Poking around TOotS forum I stumbled across a 'stick wars' thread that's worth checking out. Someone has an on going OotS parody set in the Star Wars universe.

Somebody else did a one shot that they intended for a guest strip but never submitted. It's preatty funny too. That I'll link to here. I thought it was a hoot.

Ooo, I just found page 2 :D apparently there is more comming. :D

    Bumping, hope no one minds.

Everyone still reading? Looking forward to Haley speaking without the cryptogram again soon :p

Just got my copy of On the Origin of PCs today! Probably buying the main book when I get home from college for the summer so there aren't delivery issues again...good stuff.

I don't mind... I've been waiting for the Order to hit the road again, but their little rest stop in Azure City has proven pretty funny.

Anyone deciphered Haley's cryptograms? She revealed a lot of stuff about 3 strips back. ;)

The problem I have with cryptograms is that I normally don't care enough to decode whatever.
It would be nice if the author provided a translation at some point, but I'm not going to loose any sleep on the matter.

When the books with the cryptograms are released, either the code or pure translations will be available.

All of the translations are available within the comic's forum, also.

In the 'post' link to the OotS forums, the readers always post the solution to the cryptograms, all except one where she only said a 4 letter word to Miko and there wasn't enough context to translate. Actually Haley's dialogue has been quite good, though obscured.

Given that we're starting to see some more frequent updates, I figured the regular readers here might be interested in discussing it a bit more.

I'm fairly rusty on my DnD rules...Ceila's said Outsiders can't be raised. Is True Resurrection an exception to that?

I have no idea. Like I said I haven't had a chance to play D&D yet, but this strip has just been awesome lately. I check the site a few times a day now for updates, because the story is some pretty epic fantasy level stuff now, and still hilarious as ever. Rich is a genius.

Well, I'd have to check my players handbook, which I pretty much leave at the gaming host's place... Might just be something the GM would have to rule on.

Never played D&D? What are you, a square? A "normal" person? Sheeeesh, if you haven't played D&D at least once, how can you be a geek? ;)
