How much cooler can this film look before it comes out?

Still a better movie than Emmerich's Godzilla.

It feels really special and unusual... which tend to describe most of Del Toro's films, but especially here.

I'm more curious about what Ron Perlman is doing in this movie. I know he and del Toro are really good friends. Intriguing nonetheless.

Just listened to an extended interview with del Toro. The man spoke so eloquently about giant monsters, he's almost convinced me his new film will be a masterpiece. I very much like that he's dedicated the movie "with respect" to Ishirō Honda and Ray Harryhausen.

I'm starting to see some major huge billboards all over manhattan. They're spending the bucks. But will people see it? How will they convince the female audience to go? Most spots only show a glimpse of a female Asian character.

Funny, I've been mostly seeing White House Down ones here.

Still super psyched for this movie.

This movie looked like a joke to me when I saw the first trailer. Now, it looks like it could be one of my favorites, and a master work (to ride on Jabba's line).

Thanks for the featurettes, Adam. I love that kind of stuff.

Clearly this film is a labor of love for GDT. I can't wait to see it just for the robot/monster action alone. Will it have character development and a real story? I suppose but haven't seen much of a hint of those from the trailers. But I trust GDT to deliver.

As a side note, ILM oversaw about 1700 vfx shots for the film so it's huge in that regard.

    Robot Jox was TERRIBLE.

I hope Pacific Rim is good. It already has odd looking things like ships used as baseball bats without breaking.

Look, I'm prepared to wear fairly extensive breaks from reality given this film is about robots the size of skyscrapers moving like humans, including ROCKET PUNCHES without worrying about little things such as "centre of gravity". Even del Toro himself says on those featurettes that he was going for making the kind of fights that would blow you away when you're 10 or 11 years old. All I ask is that the characters do not suck and that I always feel a little apprehensive around the robots. On the latter point they're succeeding with me so far: the designs are human-ish, but they're also unsettlingly Inhuman as well; that Gypsy Whatever "protagonist" bot has a look to it that doesn't make me feel safe at all. And that Russian Jaeger is quite alien, at least to me. These are not cheesy Bayformers; they can be standing still and I still feel a little scared of them. And they're the good guys.

Really? Small firearms do anything all at to a 200 foot tall atomic monster?

Really, though, guy's, why wouldn't hitting in the eyeball be pretty crippling? There's no animal that has an intrinsically well-armored globe.

I'm not sure you can necessarily define something that derives from another plane of existence as an "animal" in conventional terms.
