    Title: The Path Less Traveled
    Author: Sebastian_Thyr
Timeframe: Spanning Pre-Saga into the Empire, AU.
Notes: A series of recorded memoirs by my OC Jedi, Ezekiel Beladiir, in an AU created with a friend. Starts with his induction into the Jedi Order and ends sometime during the reign of Emperor Palpatine. Beta read by my good friend karebear214. First time fanfic writer, so I'm looking for suggestions and constructive criticism as well, thanks!
Disclaimer: Nothing in the Star Wars universe belongs to me...I'm just having fun playing around in this sand box.

    THE PATH LESS TRAVELED

The holorecording snaps to life. A crisp, three dimensional image of a tall man clad in the robes of a Jedi rendered all in shades of blue begins to move. His hand moves away from the recording device and he folds his arms over his chest. He clears his throat and reaches up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind his ear. His eyes look away from the camera for a few moments as he takes a couple of deep breaths. Finally, ?The Galaxy is falling into desperate times...I am recording these memories so something good may be left, should the unthinkable happen to me.?

His arms cross over his chest again and he draws himself up straight and tall. ?My name is Ezekiel Beladiir, Jedi Knight. Following is my first entry in my memoirs...I was born on Susevfi, a planet in the Suarbi Sector...?

    ********************************************

The ship was an uncommon one in this part of the Galaxy. Susevfi didn't get too many offworlders come for a visit. Most of the people living in the smaller towns would even go so far as to say that Susevfi never got any offworlders. It wasn't a barren planet, but it wasn't particularly important in the grand scheme of things either. The Republic barely recognized them as a member planet. They lived too far away from the Core and had a mildly chequered past, starting with their founding by expatriates from the Corporate Sector. But this visitor was different and everyone knew it, even if for different reasons. The blazing tail of the ship left the impression of a massive comet soaring over head as people paused in their work to look up.

The ship itself wasn't too alarming in nature, as the WR-542 was designed as a courier ship. It was on the small side and didn't even appear to be armed. Shining silver was slashed with bands of purple and yellow across its hull. If this wasn't enough to warrant notice already, something else readily apparent on the ship was. Proudly displayed over the bright colors in black and white was the symbol of the Galactic Republic. Most everything that came from space succeeded in stirring up the locals' lives - especially Republic interlopers, rare as they were.

Therefore it was little surprise to the Kel Dor and his Duros companion that there was an armed escort ready for them as they left the dock. ?Why is it no one is ever pleased to see us, Master?? asked the Duros, Kadlo, under his breath, his greyish-blue skin shining in the hard sunlight as his dark red eyes scanned the assembled gunmen. Yith, the Kel Dor, smiled behind his black breath mask and bobbed his head slightly to the guards in the hallway, his own orange skin glistening in the heat. Yith knew the question was rhetorical, as Kadlo had asked that question at almost every stop they'd made the last few months. He had good reason to, though - so far they'd met more politely smiling firing squads at the gates than politicians and well-wishers. He already knew the answer, knew that the Republic was neither well represented, nor particularly wanted, way out here on the Rim, but he also knew where he was needed. He knew where he was being called.

Yith Koon allowed the guards to lead them silently along the corridors of the stardock and out to the courtyard where a less lethally armed, but no less cold party met them. An older man, skin brown and leathery from years of working outside, stepped forward to meet the guards and the visitors. ?Master Koon, it's b
