In The phantom menace Jar Jar binks has to serve Qui-Gone for the rest of his life because according to his traditions he has to serve his life saver. However in a rather obscure 70's Disney film called The world's greatest athlete a similar tradition exists among an African tribe I also remember a Mickey Mouse comic book story were this tradition existed(and no I don't remember the name of the story). It's seems like The world's greatest athlete is the first film/story to have this kind of tradition and I wonder is there any possibility that this is a real tradition some were in the in the world(I have personally not been able to find anything about it)?

Remember that Chewbacca also owes a life debt to Han Solo. And no mainstream culture has a life-debt rule embedded in it because it would seem more like slavery than anything.
