    The Cross
    By: Stridarious

And there it sings from upon my neck
The battered love that God had sent
And where from which this cross was made
But by his blood I was saved.

Also you may post poems you like that you've read from different poets like Emily Dickinson or Robert Frost, etc.
That is a very powerful poem Alex and I love it very much. Poetry means so much and is a very powerful way of expressing yourself.

    Beauty
    Written by Mertroid

    Beauty, what is it?

    Where is it?

    Some people just don?t know.

    Many judge too quickly.

    Look around you. Carefully look.

Find it in a young queen.

    Makeup runs down her face,

Goes red and white off her lips

and face, dripping to the ground.

    Underneath it all,

    the essential self of one.

Beauty is under makeup, Beauty is in life.

    A new reflection has appeared,

    hazel eyes and tender lips.

Falls down hair, chestnut hair, waving freely in the

    air.

    Where is beauty?

    Everywhere.

    Deeply observe here.

    In a twi?lek,

    in a candle wick,

    Anywhere it exists.

    Everywhere.

    Right here.

Just take a look, over there.

See the world in a grain of sand,

    beauty is found there.

    Taking Beauty for granted,

    gets people no where.

Just come and take thy hand,

    and you will understand,

    the true meaning of Beauty.

Beauty existed with Adam and Eve,

    Existing in a leaf,

    In a tree,

    Anywhere that could keep,

Life and love, and much much more.

    Don?t believe me,

    people should.

    Wondering why?

    Well, Beauty I am.

    When I...
    Author: Unknown

When I met you, I was afraid to touch you.
When I touched you, I was afraid to kiss you.
When I kissed you, I was afraid to love you.
And now that I love you [face_love] , I am afraid to lose you.

lol, you should remember this poem Mertroid...lol, though I have not still been able to lcate the author in my first period class. :)

Yeah I found that poem lying on the ground in my first period class, whoever wrote it had the feeling of longing love. I love poetry it enables you to state how you feel in a metaporical way.

Yeah I know what you mean. With poetry I can express myself a lot and it really speaks to you. Sometimes poetry makes more sense than normal sentences like now. :)
    Here's another poem but I didn't write it. :)

    Trust
    Oh we?ve got to trust
    one another again
    in some essentials.

    Not the narrow little
    bargaining trust
    that says: I?m for you
    if you?ll be for me.

    But a bigger trust,
    a trust of the sun
    that does not bother
    about moth and rust,
    and we see it shining
    in one another.

    Oh don?t you trust me,
    don?t burden me
    with your life and affairs;
    don?t thrust me
    into your cares.

But I think you may trust
    the sun in me
    that glows with just
as much glow as you see
    in me, and no more.

    But if it warms
    your heart?s quick core
why then trust it, it forms
    one faithfulness more.

    And be, oh be
    a sun to me,
    not a weary, insistent
    personality

    but a sun that shines
    and goes dark, but shines
    again and entwines
    with the sunshine in me

    till we both of us
    are more glorious
    and more sunny.

That was a truely beautiful poem that spoke to me, I love poems as those who the author always has to wrte the poem with feelinsg so you know the author had to have experienced this at one point or another.

Yeah. I like poetry that's based with emotions rather then certain topics like snow and all. I like ones like the ones I've been seeing so far. :)
    It's an art poetry. :D
You have to have a passion for it. :)

    That's Enough For Me
If I can make you cry
If I can fill your eyes with pleasure
    Just by holding you
In the early hours of mornin?
When the day that lies ahead?s
    Not quite begun

?If I can make you smile
If I can move you close
To laughter with a word or two
When your day?s been filled with strangers
And the castles that you build
    All tumble down

Oh well, that?s enough for me
That?s all the hero I need to be
I smile to think of you and me
    You and I
And how our pleasure makes you cry

That's really pretty Mertroid, I agree with your thought. Poems come from the heart, if a person is only writing one based only on the thought of a certian topic you know nothing about or have never experienced, then the poem becomes watered-down and looses its favor. But if written from personal application, then it becomes a wonderful journey where you can see as they see it.

    Here's one of my favorites:

    Robert Frost - 'Out, Out--'
The buzz-saw snarled and rattled in the yard
And made dust and dropped stove-length sticks of wood,
Sweet-scented stuff when the breeze drew across it.
And from there those that lifted eyes could count
Five mountain ranges one behind the other
Under the sunset far into Vermont.
And the saw snarled and rattled, snarled and rattled,
As it ran light, or had to bear a load.
And nothing happened: day was all but done.
Call it a day, I wish they might have said
To please the boy by giving him the half hour
That a boy counts so much when saved from work.
His sister stood beside them in her apron
To tell them 'Supper'. At the word, the saw,
As if to prove saws knew what supper meant,
Leaped out at the boy's hand, or seemed to leap--
He must have given the hand. However it was,
Neither refused the meeting. But the hand!
The boy's first outcry was a rueful laugh.
As he swung toward them holding up the hand
Half in appeal, but half as if to keep
The life from spilling. Then the boy saw all--
Since he was old enough to know, big boy
Doing a man's work, though a child at heart--
He saw all spoiled. 'Don't let him cut my hand off
The doctor, when he comes. Don't let him, sister!'
So. But the hand was gone already.
The doctor put him in the dark of ether.
He lay and puffed his lips out with his breath.
And then -- the watcher at his pulse took fright.
No one believed. They listened at his heart.
Little -- less -- nothing! -- and that ended it.
No more to build on there. And they, since they
Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs.

    Here's my other favorite:

The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner

From my mother's sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.
When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose.

Really good choice in poems there Theo, vry good. And that is true what you have said Theo, it depends also on what type of person you are. If you have been through that you can relate to the poem. Such as these poems on love and heart broken feelings I believe everyone has that connection.

Yeah. Well even if I can't connect with a poem I'll still enjoy it. Poems that you can relate too are even better though. :)
And the person really depends too. Like we've said. :)

    Touch
    and no sound
    and no word spoken
    and the window pane
    grey in dwindling light
    and no word spoken
    but touch, your touch
    upon my hand veined
    by the changing years
    that gave and took away
    yet gave a touch
    that took away
    the years between
and brought to this grey day
    the brightness we had seen
before the years had grown between.
