I think what you have to remember about the cave (and I appreciate that the opposite can exist outside it) is that not all, but many of the posters in it are intent on seeing the worst case scenario in every aspect of TFA or Disney's control (despite the fact LFL and KK are the team making the films now) of the franchise. So haters in the cave saying that everyone is winging it and no one knows what the story is, and RJ will have been shaking his head at what JJ left him with is not really strong evidence imo that that's what is happening. If anything, I think there is probably greater cohesion across the trilogy than at any point in the saga. Development may have been rocky and ultimately rushed when it came to TFA, but I think the likelihood they just came up with a mystery with zero idea of its resolution is pretty small. If anything, there are comments from JJ and LK that suggest certain aspects were deliberately half back for RJ, and we know that RJ consulted on TFA and in some ways helped shape the narrative there. I think the re-writes after TFA's release amounted to a pass to take into account reactions to TFA - something they could never have accurately gauged until release, but I would be hugely surprised if there were any major changes to the the basic story for 8 - and I think there is zero way that RJ at least didn't have a very strong idea of how 9 should play as he was writing 8. Anyway, the script for 8 was pretty much ready some time before TFA's release (until the rewrites). And you can be fairly certain that episode 9 will be finished well in time for pre-production on episode 9.
