I'm a practicing Catholic and I do think the thread's funny. Whether this should be discussed in the Episode VII forum is another topic, but having been here during the run up to ROTS I can say that this would have been locked or moved ASAP

I think they might both be the head of a sinister death cult seeking to dominate the galaxy but that's just my take. This isn't an attack on god or Jesus just the church.

In other words...

It's got nothing to do with catholicism, just a resemblance between this Pope and Palpatine. I've been seeing this comparison made for years. It's good to have these joke threads every once in awhile. They're fun and give everyone a chance to let off some steam while we wait for actual news. No offense intended.

Alright. With that understanding, am I (and other friends) allowed to create a couple of threads during the next few weeks, titled, perhaps, along the lines of:

-Britney Spears leaves X-Factor. Heading to Episode VII?
-Adam Sessler fired from G4. Heading to Episode VII?
-Selena Gomez sheds Disney image in "Springbreakers." Heading to Episode VII?
-Seth Greene makes sure we all know that he really likes Star Wars. Heading to Episode VII?
-Dipika O'Neill Joti wants to appear in future Star Wars movies. Heading to Episode VII?
-omg George Bush is like Palpatine. Heading to Episode VII?
-etc


I understand humor, and appreciate it, on multiple levels. Yes, I chuckled while viewing this thread, but regardless of that, I share the sentiment that others have that this is a completely irrelevant thread for the "Star Wars Episode VII" section. If anything, it does nothing but clog the forum. Due to the subject nature of this thread, it's an easy target, but as we've seen, this particular section has been clogged with a lot of inane or repetitive thread topics (which, admittedly, is natural, due to the excitement of new Star Wars films and the lack of info concerning them). Before you bring out the torches and pitchforks out against me, yes, I acknowledge I am a new TFN member, and as such, rank low in the pecking order. Notwithstanding, I've been a lurker for some 15 years, was an original StarWars.com message board member, and, of course, life long Star Wars fan. On top of that, I just like discussing and sharing ideas and values about the entire Star Wars saga; in this particular case, while I do appreciate the OP's intent and humor, I feel, that perhaps, it's misplaced? Does that make sense? I don't necessarily know where it should go but, as @Pfluegermeister says:

Also, as an anthropologist, I'm also curious to know if such a thread would be permissible if it were depicting, say, heads of Islam, for example. And I say this as someone who was raised Catholic and who is in no way offended by this thread.


Lastly, I hope Adam Sessler is in Episode VII. Such a cool guy.
