The only Bothans dying to bring us THAT information would be dying laughing at such a ludicrous idea. :p

How many new ways can they blow one of these things up...? At this point, they are the galactic equivalent of pork barrel government project spending on shoddy workmanship.

"Death Star" will be the term used for when Chewie stinks up the bathroom on the Falcon for the umpteenth time and Han swears they're never going to a Taco Bell again no matter how much Chewie begs.

Which is why the Empire ceased to after ROTJ! The ecomomy was suffering from all the spending on Daeth Stars, provoking a massive uprising!

Disney just needs to learn how to make this one fly.

No Death Star. Just a Hutt-built Darksaber.

I was a big fan of the Leviathan flagship in the first Knights of the Old Republic video game, something like this or the Executioner would be awesome. A large enemy ship to chase our heroes across the galaxy...

The thing is the Interdictor class cruisers from Revan and Malak's SIth Empire were barely the same size as an Imperial II class SD.

We're looking at super weapon territory here and I think the Eclipse would be the perfect ship to replace the Death Stars.

I can see it now in Episode 7: Death Star III being run by General Tarkin's son capturing Han/Leia's daughter and Luke's kids try to rescue her with R2 & C3PO in the Falcon...... oh wait, didn't we see this before in 1977?

Cheerful, friendly reminder to not turn this into an EU discussion outside of the EU thread. You're all lovely. Carry on.

Many Bothans were irritated, frustrated, and politely resigned to once again explain this to us. Many other Bothans went on about their business and said Galactic bureaucracy can go take a flying leap.

In Episode 7, some disgruntled Stormtrooper will post on YouTube how to blow up Deathstar III and Han/Leia's kids will be texting each other throughout the space battle while Luke and Leia are out of touch with technology still communicating through the force!

It's in one of the earlier drafts of ROTJ, I don't have the link right now but it's been on the Internet for a while.

Originally, Luke confronted the Emperor in an underground lava chamber of the Imperial Palace, on the capital world (then called Had Abaddon instead of Coruscant). At the same time, the Rebel Alliance attacked the multiple Death Stars being constructed in orbit.

Ralph Mcquarrie even did some concept art on it:

For anyone interested, this concept was talked about in a book called 'Star Wars: The Annotated Screenplays' which goes through the OT movies and every concept for each character and plot point and how they arrived to the final draft.

There needs to be a new Superweapon. I like the Death Stars and the cameos in the PT but we need something new.
Pity they didn't have the Eclipse as Palpatine's base in ROTJ instead of a 2nd Death Star.

Han Solo piloting a Rebel controlled Death Star in a firefight against 3 Super Death Stars!!!! The last 30 minutes is just Death Stars wailing away on each other! I'd watch that on a loop!

I wonder what non-fans think of superweapons.

Probably the same thing many of us EU fans do... unnecessary (seeing how only TWO of the films actually really featured a 'superweapon' in action). EU fans are probably sick of 'em, as you couldn't flip a page in a '90s EU book without turning one up. Dark Empire? Superweapons! Jedi Academy trilogy? Superweapons! Children of the Jedi? Superweapon! Darksaber? Superweapon! Corellian Trilogy? Superweapon!... they were pretty much EVERYWHERE.

Super weapons could include Kaibur Crystals or a crystal that takes the power of the force out of a/the Jedi. Or some kind of chemical weapon.

If there is no empire, it's hard to imagine a new Death Star and hope that any imperial loyalists who suggests building another one gets thrown out of the room by his/her colleagues (seeing the success ratio of these 'superweapons').

What about a Death Star run by criminals or resurgent Sith?

There will be an empire..... but I'd rather see a super ship in all of it's glory (IE Executor 2)
