    Exactly Right

It was the manipulation of Palpatine that was a direct result of Anakin's turn. For 13 years he twisted Anakin's moral compass and even then, he only turned due to desperation to save the life of his wife and child. Once he turned, he was no longer himself and everything hinged on control and possession. The efforts made by Sidious to corrupt Anakin did not work on Luke, and that's why Anakin was redeemable. When he saw his son resist the dark side and suffer for it; Sidious uttered the line that brought Anakin back to clarity: "Young Fool ... Only now, at the end, do you finally understand." This allowed Anakin to see what his future would have been without the dark lord. We see this self reflection when Anakin appears as a ghost wearing the tan and white robes of his early youth (TPM) and not the darker robes that reflected his degree of instability and corruption.

Sidious exploited a confused nine year old boy who had exceptional potential. This laid the groundwork for an unstable and hot tempered young man. The only thing the Jedi did wrong perhaps was that they instilled to harsh a degree of humility considering Anakin's personal situation as well as keeping him isolated from his mother. Even though this isolation is the standard for all Jedi, unlike the other members of the order, Anakin had a close personal relationship with his Mother and she was left behind in an uncertain environment.

I don't know about vindicating points of view, but I think the PT did a very good job of explaining how essentially well meaning people, including the Jedi, could allow and even support and assist people like the Sith and the Empire into the positions of power that they held in the OT.

The Jedi probably thought that they were about controlling the emotions which the Sith used as fuel for their power, but it sometimes comes across in the PT that they advocate suppression, particularly in Anakin's case. It's easy to see how someone like Sidious was able to exploit this perception in Anakin, particularly in light of the Padme factor.
