What do you guys think of Luc Besson's The Professional (aka Leon)?

I just saw it for the first time a few weeks ago and I've seen it 6 times since. I love that movie! Natalie Portman is amazing! Her acting in that is 1000 times better than anything else I've seen her in, and she was only 12! It's become one of my favorite movies. Can't wait for the sequel.

    What do you guys think?

Very much agree. I hope you saw the uncut version, because if you didn't, you haven't seen anything yet (particularly of Natalie). They put back 24 minutes of footage for it.

Leon as an assassin is almost poetry in motion, because he's so in touch with himself and his surroundings. Almost like a Jedi, really. Natalie is amazing to watch. Such a wide range of emotions in her throughout the film. No question that her first role was her toughest, and perhaps her best.

    :).

Yeah, the full uncut international version is what I got on DVD. It is the full true movie. Wouldn't like the american version if they cut out lots of the stuff with natalie.

Glad someone feels the same way. Any other fans of Leon out there?

I loved it too. I own the uncut version on DVD myself. Leon was an awesome hitman in the movie. Natalie Portman was great in it too.

Gary Oldman also gave a great performance in it.

Loved how he was killed... "this is from Matilda"

Bought Leon within a few days of buying my DVD player. And then my TV died in August.

    Excellent flick.

I love how he talked about Beethoven in that movie, and also played Beethoven in Immortal Beloved. good stuff.

    Look at my sig. :)

I loved the movie when I saw it a few weeks ago on Channel 4 in the UK. I don't know if it was the uncut version or not, but it's the only film ever to make me cry. Laughed my ass off too during it. :) One of my top 5 favorite films of all time ever. I've been a fan of Natalie since the hype for Episode I began, but this one shows how darn amazing she is. I'm a complete Star Wars nut, and usually think of any SW actors as being their SW character in a movie, but in Leon I was seeing poor little Matilda, not Padme. Amazing...

The rest of the cast were great too.

The uncut version has a lot of interaction between Leon and Mathilda, much of which was taken out in the original released version.

...So far, I think it's just rumors. But Luc Besson definatly wants to do a sequel (only if Natalie will agree to come back).

I can't wait for it! It will be awesome. I'm want to find out what happens to Matilda after she get out of that school.

I love the last line of the movie "I think we'll be ok here Leon" then Sting's "shape of my head" fades in... very sad.

Waltzing Matilda, WALTZING MATILDA, won't you come waltzing Matilda with me....

I really don't know where that came from, these things just pop out of nowhere like a can of springy snakes.

It appears...that I have frightened all the people away...

I get the feeling it was the uncute version I saw then, because C4 usually show their movies uncut and there was a lot of interaction between Leon and Mathilda. And I'll probably be 18 by the time the sequel is done, so hopefully I'll get to see it in the cinema!

Why not M-RdotM-A-N? You should see it. If you like Luc Besson's, movies you'll like it.
