They save lives. Make sure you encourage your loved ones to get one when appropriate. I recommend 2 fingers and not 3, unless your extremely close with your physician.
I'm up to date, but now I'm concerned that my dog has never had an exam. Vets are expensive though... d'you think I should just, y'know... check? What would I be feeling for?
Do you care about your dog?? Do you love your dog?? Is your dog special to you?? Is your dog alive? If you answered "Yes" to at least one of these questions, I believe you should check. You'll want to make sure the prostate doesn't have any obvious lumps or craters.
Interestingly enough I'm leaving for my first prostate exam in about fifteen minutes. Tomorrow I will report back with loving details.
I decided to practice on my neighbours' dog. They must not be animal lovers because they were very unhappy about it. Rude even.
The downside to being a female sci-fi fan: not enough mammogram appreciation threads on message boards. I have my first one April 14. I'll post squashing details but they might be in the Fecal Force thread. I do appreciate prostate exams. They keep men from dying off.
Well the good news is that I am healthy and I have what has been determined to be a healthy normal functioning prostate gland. The better news is that the doctor kissed me gently on the neck before his stuck his finger in my butt.
If you need someone to do a visual check of the area to make sure everything is in order, just let me know. I would be happy to help.
