Ok, I know it's a long way off, but it seems like a topic that inevitably comes up whenever any of us get together. I thought it might be fun to put together our thoughts, ideas, plans, costume goals and any other news items that come up, so we can keep ourselves occupied until 2005. :)

BTW, by my reckoning, we only have 33 months to go! Woohoo! :)

So, to get us started, a little news blurb that came out today: Steve Sansweet talks CIII.

Also, we've all said that we plan to do things differently. What specifically are you planning? I've got several goals in mind at this point:

    1. - I will NOT make an Ep III costume before the movie comes out!
    2. - I will have any costumes I plan to wear for CIII finished months beforehand.
    3. - I will arrive on Thursday night and not leave until Monday morning.
    4. - I would like all of us to stay at the same hotel very close to the convention center, preferably wherever the 501st is staying.

Ok, call me a geek, but just thinking about this is exciting!

    Regards,
    M.

I'm surprised that this thread took this long to make an appearance.

As for my goals for CIII:

    1. I might think about a costume, but I wouldn't plan on it just yet.
    2. I'll definately arrive in town the day before and stay an extra day so I won't miss anything good at the end.
    3. I'm going to 2nd the idea of our group staying in the same hotel, very close to the convention center. And
hey, if it happens to be the same hotel as the 501st, I certainly won't complain.

    Oooh! I can't wait 33 months!!!

Re: Steve Sansweet blurb: I'll go anywhere they have CIII, but I REALLY hope they bring it back to Indiana again!

I agree with Mirax....we need to all stay in the same hotel. Since motman was in the 501st we got a room with him at the hotel they were staying at. That was quite a trip seeing troopers constantly roaming the halls!

I too plan to arrive on Thursday....I got there much too late on Friday and was caught off guard by the sheer numbers of attendees!

As far as costumes go, I'll be bringing along my armor....and who knows...maybe by then I'll have an X-Wing pilot costume or a Clone Trooper! I'd like to do multiple costumes if I can find the room to bring 'em. I'll probably wind up having to rent a trailer to get all this stuff out there! :)

In the meantime, while counting the many, many, many days until CIII, I need to find an outlet for my costuming activities! Getting escorted out of Star Southfield by security was not really what I had in mind. ;)

    Jason-
You're not a true costumer until you've been escorted out of a place by security.

I'm hoping to have my one costume ready by then(hint, hint Mirax) :)

I took some good advice and started a new savings account specifically for CIII.So far,I have enough money in it for a one day pass and maybe a hot dog and coke.

    Wait,scratch the hot dog.

I have also started a savings account for CIII. I think I could get a one day pass and two hotdogs! I will be prepared for the next one.

p.s. My Anakin Jedi costume has been started!

Yes, Idg, I get the hint! Let's pick a day this week or next to start working on it!

Good goal, Lava! We won't let you miss out this time around!

Scooby, you're doing an Anakin costume? Cool!

And, THD, I knew there was a costumer in there somewhere! We'll get you yet!

Like MiraxTHorn said, I will arrive a day early and leave a day late so I don't miss any of the good stuff. I will probably wear my Darth Vader outfit at least once while at CIII possiblly more. It would make CIII more memorable if we could all stay in the same hotel. Hmmm, a CIII savings account...I hadn't thought of that yet. I'd better start saving...

Us D-Con folk do the arrive early and stay late by a day thing and it makes the trip so much more enjoyable.

Rob and I definatly are going to CIII

Costume ideas we have been tossing around for after D-Con are

Imperial officer (modified civil war pattern) (me and Rob)
Tusken Raiders (Rob, me & Cheri)
    Imperial Guards (me & Cheri)
    Jawa (me & Cheri)
Naboo Starfighter Pilot (me & Cheri)
    Princess Leia, Endor

I'm still trying to finish up D-Con stuff with only 3 weeks to go.

Well, my parents have already stated that they wouldn't be taking us to CIII, but seeing as I'll be almost 19 they can't keep me home! Now, what to do about my brother...

    My to-do list:

    1) Start bribing little brother (if he ain't nice to me for the next 3 years, he ain't going)

2)Get hotel room waaaayyyyy in advance

3)Convert best friend into a star wars fan (a whole weekend alone with my brother!?!)

4)Start saving money(after my trip to see a certain really hot olympic gold medalist perform...)

That's about it. I should probably add "get a job", but I guess that goes under saving money...

Costumes in the works: Tie Fighter Pilot

    Costumes on the backburner: Snowtrooper

I am also in the 501st I will let you know what hotel as soon as the info in availabe. I think that is awesome that you guys are thinking about doing tusken costumes. I am getting all the metal parts for the head produced as we speak. If anybody is interested just let me know.

Cheri may know someone who can do the female tusken metal work for us =) When I start the projects I think I will open a new thread for each costume for anyone interested in who things progress with them.

Wow, Morrigan, you guys have some seriously ambitious costuming goals! Any of those you do will be awesome! I might be interested in doing an Imperial Officer with you. Gotta think on that. Afterall, everyone needs at least ONE evil persona, right? ;) (I know, I know, they're not evil, they're just following orders, blah, blah, blah. :) )

As for the costumes I am planning, I'll be remaking Padme's picnic dress (Perfectionists unite!), making the two piece blue Tatooine outfit and making a Mirax costume.

Thanks for the reminder on the savings account idea! Very good plan.

Oh, something else we could speculate about here - which stars/vips will be at CIII? I'm thinking Mark Hamill will be there and possibly even GL. (Can you imagine the line for THAT event? :))

    Regards,
    M.

A yes CIII can not wait for it. I also will start saving beg time after this spring. (my wife wants me to take her and my girl to Disney World) But right now I save $10 a week to buy Star Wars toys so what I don't use for that will go to CIII.

I have to say what everyone want to about going down 1 day before and staying 1 day after is a good idea. I did that for CII and it worked out good.

As for do and do not's
*I will not stand in line 6hrs for Carrie Fisher
*I will go to the opeing cermony
*I will film more of CIII
*I will not bring my girl (I hope)
    *I will plan better
*I will buy vintage a 3.75 Imperial Star destroyer and Yoda's Hut.

I also like the idea of staying in the same hotel as 501's. What hotel did the stay in at CII?

Let's hope and pray that CIII is in Indianapolis.

I think Detroit would be a good location...

I also went down on thursday and came back on monday. That worked out really well. Plus I got to miss 2 days of school, instead of just friday...

Since CIII will be sort of the last "hurrah" for Star Wars (at least for the movies anyway) I'm really hoping that all of the OT cast is able to be at the show....yes even including Harrison Ford. If we had all of them, and Lucas too that would be about the most exciting thing I can think of.

I think that we can forget about Harrison Ford showing up. There is no way that he would do something like this. Unless he did seminar. That would be like he would show 10min before and he would leave in 5min when it is done.

I made several promises to myself after CII as well.

    1. I will be staying at the same hotel as the 501st, even if I gotta stow away in someone's sleeping bag. It was just too cool to see stormtroopers everwhere you went.

    2. Jedi Teddy will have more pictures taken so the CIII scrapbook can be even bigger than the CII or CI ones.

    3. I will not be responsible for anyone who does not have a good time due to poor planning on their part.

    4. I will do will call for really popular celebrities rather than wait in a long line for hours. Although, I met a lot of interesting people that way.

I am really looking forward to this. My CIII savings account grows weekly as well my anticipation. The funny thing is that we really have it bad...planning for CIII THREE YEARS in advance. That makes is sound way to far away...I like MT's 32 months!
