Det, MI The R2-Detroit Official CIII Countdown Thread

Yikes! I'm falling down on the job here. There are indeed 20 months left until this most anticipated event.

This month's question:

Do you think we're ever going to get confirmation on the location of CIII???

Personally, I'm starting to get nervous about it. It seems like we had quite a bit more lead time for CII.

 

I hope it is in Indy again (or at least close to us). Mid and I would love to go this time.

No, we will never get confirmation. They will talk up 'till the day of CIII and then just shrug it off when the convention does not happen. Saying:
"Oh well, I guess we all underestimated this one."

I would be looking for the official announcement for CII to be made in late April or early May of '04. I remember that the official announcement for CII was made around that time in '01.

 

I have heard from reliable sources that CIII will be April 22-24, 2005 and will again be in Indianapolis, only this time they will have the whole convention center. There is also a rumor that they may have the RCA dome for opening and closing ceremonies. Hotel rooms are already being booked, so it may not be a bad idea to make your reservation. You can always cancel if things do change (which is doubtful).

Only 17 months to go!

Maybe we may want to discuss room pairings and travel plans at our next meeting. It's never to early to start planning.

April 22-24??? Man that is a little bit earlier than when I thought it would be. I figured that it would have been the first weekend of May.

At least they are going to use the Dome this time. Man I can still remember the crowds in there. It was like a heard of COWS in there.

 

Good idea to bring this up for discussion at the next meeting. I'm glad I started browsing this thread to see about any new developments.
April does seem early to me too. It matters not, there I will be.

 

where is it being held at? that's what i'm asking. i hope it's here in detroit, that way i can go. i didn't go to c2. i was hoping to go with a friend, but her parents surprised her by making it a family thing.

 

It looks like it's going to be in Indianapolis again.

So, we're at T-Minus 15.2 months. (February will be 15.)

Next meeting, Saturday February 7th at 7:00 pm, we will be discussing (amongst other things) CIII planning. One idea maybe a group van (or 2) for a carppoll down. Any other ideas? Bring them up at the net meeeting!

 

We are now down to 14 months till CIII.

If any one cares they now have the Celebration Board up and running.

 

Update: 13 months (or 414 days) to go! I'm not sure whether I'll be in Michigan or Los Angeles becoming a Costume Designer... Will I still be welcome in R2-Detroit?

Wow, this is exciting. Has it been announced where it's to be held yet? I hope I can go. I wanted to go to CII but there was the no money factor that really kept me away! :-D

Did anyone go last year that can give me a good estimate of what the total price would be: transportation, admission, food, events, etc.? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Should we be thinking about booking our rooms? And which hotel is the best? I stayed at the (Jedi) Knights Inn about 20 minutes away for CII to save $$, but definitely want to be at one of the adjoining hotels this time.

Preferably the Marriott, Hyatt Regency or Westin. Even the Embassy Suites has a skywalk(er) to the Convention Center. Did anyone stay at any of these places last time?

 

I know that, so far, Robert, Dustin, Ivan and I have checked inot the emabassy, but haven't made any reservations yet.

We can't book until 365 days prior. We'll just have to wait until the 22nd.

 

The Official Site updated with some CIII news.Nothing too specific yet,but they did reveal theCIII logo.

 

Today is the day. 365 days till CIII. Let the countdown begin.

 

There are now less than 11 months to go till CIII. I hope that every one has there room booked.
