I am sure are you familiar with how dangerous un-developed eggs are, why not even some masters of curing such things can detect them until they prepare to hatch as they are even more insidious then those eaten without notice by Master Skywalker himself according to the Jedi lore. I feel it is a necesarry precaution for the Padawans safety.
