OOC: This is not an RPG...but an experimental dueling session scenario which is primarily for GoL Jedi and aspirants but also anyone else who wishes to join in is welcome to pop in and out as they like, in character or not, no commitment necessary. As before, one can create their own opponents too...such as zombies, droids, gundaks, mynocks, etc. or just come in to release some steam as is mentioned in the OP of the thread.

Main Pit Cavern

Fluttering brown robes shrouded a lone figure descending to the pit floor as it free-fell from a trap door far above in the rocky shadows. Ananta used the Force to cushion his landing into a crouching position amongst the stones and loose debris of the tattered old dueling venue. Rising to his feet he immediately nodded a friendly greeting to Knight Irishi who had already arrived on her own. He then surveyed the surroundings for immediate threats and made mental preparations for any potential GoL initiates, padawans or other Knights that might be joining them.

The Rancor Pit consisted of an infinite number of tunnels that snaked-off in all directions, some leading to the surface, some to the lairs of notorious crime lords, others even went deep underground close to the planet's core, or so he had heard. The most recent cargo ship had unloaded a special herd of young Rancors, only 4-5 meters tall, that had been purposely created for this place...a genetically engineered species with lightsaber-resistant skin, created by the dark magic of the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Supposedly a strike from a blade only has a mild stinging effect upon the creatures.

While none of the beasts were presently visible, Ananta stood motionless and quiet enough to hear his own breath as he listened for the familiar roar of any of their potential foes approaching or cunningly hiding nearby.

IC: Irishi Kenobiwan
Main Pit Cavern

Irishi walked over to Ananta and stood beside him. She felt through the Force that it was many life forms in the different parts of the Pit. And Irishi was on high alert. Anything can happen in the Pit, she thought. Her lightsaber hung on her utility belt and she felt cold wind on her face.

"Hopefully more will join us," Irishi said to her Jedi brother.

IC: Rak Avarry
Main Pit Cavern

Rak’s entrance into the caverns was not as smooth as he would have liked. He slid down one of the tunnels from the surface and had managed to keep his balance until the opening into the central cavity. Where a stalactite rose to meet his leading foot causing him to trip and dig his left shoulder into the hard ground. The young man of 22 years got to his feet dusting off his shirt. Running his fingers though his messy dark blonde hair he looked around to see two other beings were in this pit with him, both appear to be Jedi. Could that be why he was lead here, to meet these Jedi? He felt uneasy in the dark space like something was hiding just out of sight, waiting to strike him. He drew his weapons, a vibroknife in his left hand and a small blaster kept in the small of his back in his right. Rak had neither the time nor the knowledge to build a lightsaber, he would have to do with what he had. He turned to one of the Jedi, a male from what he can make out,

“So what brings you here," he said in a sarcastic tone tying to hide his own fear, "the charming atmosphere or the do doubt kind friendly beings just in those shadows?” He trained his blaster ahead of him anticipating an attack.

Main Pit Cavern

Mounted high into the Pit's stony walls were small flickering torches burning brightly enough to partially illuminate their surroundings. While surveying the scene, Irishi and Ananta simultaneously heard a long...slow...sliding sound, followed by a soild thud which ended in a small cloud of dust behind a group of boulders in the corner.

Ah, another one...he commented to his fellow Jedi, as they both grinned at each other acknowledging the friendly face and Force presence while exchanging the briefest of introductions with the new arrival and keeping their senses fine-tuned for predators roaming about. Rak definitely looked like he could hold his own by the way he held onto the vibroblade and pistol that were in his grip, and despite his humble entrance and informal speaking style, he too already seemed to be keenly aware that they were not alone.

Suddenly the cave walls began to tremble slightly releasing an immense stalactite from the roof which landed with enough velocity to thrust itself into the cave floor and remain standing upright only a stone's throw from where they stood. Pebbles and small debris sprinkled down around them and as the dust cleared...two sets of narrowing red eyes could be seen perched atop the fallen rock spear.

Ananta threw back his robe's hood and instinctively Force-drew his lightsaber to his open palm while glancing at his companions in anticipation of their first move...This is where the fun begins...

IC: Irishi Kenobiwan
Main Pit Cavern

Irishi grinned when she saw the newcomer. It looked like she and Knight Ananta's invitation has been heard. From the look of it, the newcomer wasn't a Jedi, but she recognised him as one of the Initiates from GoL. He had a blaster and a vibroblade, and it looked he would manage himself very well even without a lightsaber. Irishi nodded to the newcomer and smiled.

Suddenly the cave trembled and Irishi drew her lightsaber, ignited it, from pure Jedi reflects. After a moment, a pare of red eyes could be seen in the dim cave. The fun was about to begin...

IC: Zurros Ka
Offshoot Tunnel.

Zurros stood in the entrance to one of the many tunnels that led from the main arena. He saw 3 sentient beings standing, with their backs to him, in the centre of the arena. 2 appeared to be Jedi but one was unknown to him. He was about to shout a greeting when suddenly the ground began to shake. Zurros stumbled but managed to keep his footing, he saw a stalactite fall and crash into the ground close to where the trio stood.

When the dust settled he noticed a pair of glowing red eyes appear in the shadows further outward than the 3 companions, The 2 Jedi had drawn their lightsabers. Zurros called upon the force, and made to leap to their side. Calming himself, he opened his eyes and yelled:

'Friendly behind you'

With that he leaped forward . . .

Main Pit Cavern

Closing his eyes for less than a moment, Ananta allowed the flow of the Living Force to wash over him and felt much of his individuality start to melt into his surroundings. Suddenly the stones beneath his feet, the air in his lungs and even the heavy methodical breathing of the creatures far above all felt familiar, like an extension of himself spread out over the cavern. In the next breath he coiled his momentum and sprung upwards, once placing a foot on the side of the stalactite, and then to the top where the two creatures came into view from the now settling dust. Indeed they were Rancors, two of them. Slashing his sword across the chest of the one closest to where he landed he watched as his blade skidded across its silvery hide without piercing the skin. The creature yelped in mild irritation and and raised an arm to try to snag his leg, just moments before he slid beneath it and instead came face to face with its companion.

Far below he heard a new voice in the pit...'Friendly behind you'

The second rancor perched on top of the stalactite roared and lunged downwards to the floor with its gaping jaws aiming for the other Jedi with her blade drawn. At the same time, on the adjacent cavern wall, a small stone passageway opened near the top and out onto a tiny rocky ledge emerged the sound of two squealing and grunting beings lugging something heavy behind them. Two Gamorreans came into view, one carrying a large metal tripod of sorts and the other a massive canon which the later placed upon the turret. The cavern's walls contained many outcropping of small rocks ascending to the top which could serve as footholds for a Force-user. One of the pig-faced thugs then began to take aim at Rak and Zurros far below.

OOC: Anyone can feel free to post on behalf of our attackers at any time, be it a creature that is attacking you or even someone else. Also feel at liberty to create new opponents if you wish. This is the Rancor Pit after all. For newcomers, just follow the normal RPG protocol of no auto-hitting anyone without giving them a chance to respond.

Main Pit Cavern

Seeing what the her brother did to the rancor that charged forward him, Irishi knew at that instance that this beasts were not just ordinary beast. Not even a lightsaber could penetrate its skin. With her thought at her brother, she didn't see the second rancor that came charging at her like a gigantic hungry wolf. Luckily she had the Force, moments before the rancor closed its huge hands around her and smashed her into nothing, Irishi Force-jumped over the rancor and took a mid-air flip, landed safely behind the rancor. She turned and faced the rancor's back, thank the Force that the rancor's reaction was slow, but she didn't have much time to think out a solution. With in seconds, the rancor turned around and swung its left arm, aiming for Irishi's legs. And the creature opened its mouth and shouted. There, that's it, Irishi thought, managed to jump over the huge arms of the monster, she ignited her lightsaber once again and did a saber throw, aiming for the giant's open-mouth...

IC: Zurros Ka
Main pit cavern.

Landing lightly beside his comrades, Zurros called both lightsabers to his hands and ignited them. Taking his personal, although unorthodox, reverse guard ready stance. The 2 Jedi had already launched themselves at the 2 Rancors, lightsabers seemed ineffective against their skin which puzzled him. In response to this Master Kenobiwan threw her Saber toward the open mouth of one of the beast. Zurros smiled and allowed his gaze to roam upwards, seeing 2 Gamorreans setting up a large cannon of some sort.

'I guess those 2 are mine' he thought to himself, as he ran towards the wall, intent on using the footholds to get up there and slice that cannon into pieces . . .

IC: Irishi Kenobiwan
Main Pit Cavern

Her plan worked, the lightsaber pierced through the creature's mouth and the creature shout out in pain. A huge boom echoed through the cavern as the rancor felt to the cold, hard stone floor. Irishi called her lightsaber to her right hand via the Force and deactivated it.

Suddenly a huge thump noise was sounded in one of the tunnels that coud lead people further into the pit. Irishi turned and faced that tunnel, cold wind met her face and blew her cinnamon brown hair back. Through the Force she felt a huge danger coming towards them. Irishi ignited her lightsaber and held it in front of her.

IC: Zurros Ka
Main pit cavern

After 2 bounds up the wall Zurros landed on the same platform the cannon was on, a stroke with his dual lightsabers rendered the canon useless. Summoning the force, he pulled the Gamorrians off the ledge into the pit below. Leaping backwards he followed their descent and as the crashed to the floor, Zurros landed between them and plunged a lightsaber through each of their hearts.

Turning he saw Master Kenobiwan staring at the entrance to one of the tunnels. He didn't see what the focal point was, but moved up next to her nonetheless. Lightsabers ready . . .

IC: Rak Avarry
Main Pit Cavern

A third person joined the group as a stalactite fell to the ground. Two red eyes stared out of the darkness. Rak contemplated putting a bolt right between them but, decided against it. It could have a thick skull or not have its brain in its head. The Jedi rushed quickly towards the unknown beasts leaving the untrained initiate to scramble for cover. He watched in slight horror as a lightsaber merely annoyed the creature. If it could resist lightsabers what was his blaster and knife going to do? He looked up in the dim light to see two figures setting up some sort of cannon. Friend or foe, was his first question. Then the Fallen newcomer bounded up the rock face. Everything was happening very quickly, Rak was having trouble making sense of it all. He took a deep breath trying to calm himself. Now was not the time to lose your head. He heard a loud animal cry and heavy thud. One of the rancors had been felled by the female Jedi. They did have venerable spots, with that knowledge Rak dropped to one knee to stabilize his shots. He took aim and fired three bolts at the second monsters eye. The red laces of energy struck the tough skin around his true target, enraging the beast. He ran putting some distance between him and the now, very angry animal. What was he going to do now?
