Syren shot up and moved back a few paces as the undead responded to her query by advancing out through the fog, reaching for her with renewed hunger.

I had to ask, she thought in irritation.

Her weapons held out defensively and her back to the wall, she was trying to formulate the best course of action when suddenly her eyes were drawn upwards. They followed the two creatures that had remained at her sides as they left the ground to hover above her and the horde.

Oh, they can kriffing fly now?

Seething, her gaze shifted back to those on the ground thinking they were her more immediate threat. The front line was now within her reach. Syren prepared to begin her attack when she noticed it a moment too late. Looking up just after the lightning had left the floating corpse’s hand, it appeared to be aimed directly at her. She knew she wouldn’t be able to move in time, but still attempted to bring her sabers up in deflection. Then it struck.

Several twitching, smoking bodies fell to her feet as the bolt missed, instead making contact with the creatures closest to her. She smiled. Her eyes returned upwards to see the other airborne corpse unleash its own powerful burst of electricity, this time its aim would be true.

    That smile vanished.

Her sabers already halfway to a block, she continued to move them into a cross above her head. The lightning hit with enough force to cause her feet to slide back. Syren strained against the shock wave that was sent through her weapons and out into her body.

No time could be wasted on refocusing as this momentary distraction had allowed for several of the undead to move over the fallen, now far too close for comfort.

Thrusting forward to stab at a nearby creature, yet again their numbers were threatening to overwhelm her. The wall at her back was now working against her as it became obvious she would be crushed.

    Time to relocate.

Eyes seizing on one of the mindless beasts that still hovered above, Syren utilized another Force Jump in its direction. Lightsabers held high to come down in a overhead attack, she hoped to annihilate it before it raised its hand again.

The creature prepared to attack Darth Syren as she soared directly at him, but his undead body moved with little urgency and his attacker reached her target before he was able to defend himself. Her twin blades sliced almost completely through it, and it immediately fell to the ground, the walking undead ignored the lifeless body completely.

It's flying companion once again launched a volley of lightning, but with his target in motion he struggled to find his aim, his attack missed it's mark and tore across the ground hitting three additional wights.

The Apprentice would have a clear landing now, if she acted fast she would be able to cut down more of the horde before they regrouped.

Her eyes locked on her target with an unyielding focus. Its hand began to rise, but she was far too quick for the undead. A streak of red crossed in front of her, cutting through the darkness and the floating body she aimed for. The dual lightsabers had almost cleaved the corpse in two, its mangled remains falling beneath her as she began to descend. Fully prepared to tear into more rotting flesh once she met the ground, a rogue bolt of lightning suddenly struck below. Several smoking corpses collapsed just as she landed among them.

Having touched down in a crouch, Syren twisted around to face the direction from which she had come and gazed upwards. The last demon hovered above.

Thank you, friend, she thought darkly.

Her crimson blades continued humming with life at her sides as she slowly pushed herself up to stand. She glared into the fog where the rest of the horde remained, seemingly not yet realizing she had moved. A wide grin slowly spread across her face as she came to a realization.

    She was overthinking this.

They were slow, she was not. They were dead, she was not. Keep it simple and get it done.

It was time to stop jumping around, avoiding the challenge at hand. And while she was at it, she needed to have a little fun. The savage act of death and destruction was that much more entertaining when the one causing it enjoyed it themselves. Through experience she knew this to be a hard fact.

The dark side continued to snake through her. It gave her an almost electrified intensity that partially masked her exhaustion and pain from her minor injuries. Her scrutinizing gaze moved back to the lone creature that remained above. Raising an eyebrow, she had an amusing idea. It did not care about accidentally striking its brothers when attempting to take her out, so she would gladly help it continue to do so. In order to accomplish that, she knew she had to remain in the thick of things. Literally.

Thinking not a moment longer, Syren charged forward into the rolling mist. She reached them a moment later, the horde only halfway through coming about to locate its prey again. In a swift motion, she brought her weapons together out in front and then pulled them apart and away from each other in twin horizontal arcs. The blades swung out on either of her sides as they tore through the backs and sides of the closest undead. As they fell, her forward motion propelled her into the half-circle gap the lightsabers had created.

Her presence being once again so near, hands and arms reached out for her. This time there was no fleeing on her part.

“Keep it simple,” she repeated to herself with renewed focus.

Her sabers were now held pointed behind her. She swung them back to the front and up vertically to slice into her closest victim. Having cleanly removed both its arms, she directed a forward kick to its midsection as the severed limbs fell away. It stumbled back into another corpse and Syren lunged forward, spearing through the chests of both with her right blade.

Something gripped her back leg and she swung around to see a legless undead clawing at her boot, attempting to drag itself upon her. She shook her head at the pitiful sight.

    Slow and dumb.

She kicked her leg free from its feeble grasp and stomped down twice, crushing its skull.

Catching immediate movement further to her left, she twisted in that direction and swung out with a saber. It severed the neck of a creature, its head flying clean off.

“Head’s up!” She remarked, laughing a bit hysterically. Now we’re talking.

Shoving out with both hands, she laid a Force Push into the headless body which sent it colliding into a pair of undead that had been moving in from behind. She swiftly reversed her grip on both weapons and leapt towards them. As she came down with a vengeance, she stabbed through their bodies with fatal precision.

All the while, Syren kept tabs on her special friend that still hovered above, in the event it should decide to “help” her.

Darth Syren's new approach worked exceedingly well, with speed that could only be achieved through the Force she raced through the horde of undead leaving a path of dismembered rotting corpses behind her.

What she missed was cleaned up by the hovering undead's lightning, her speed allowing her to stay a few steps ahead of his aim.

It was not long before she had run out of walking undead, the floor was not covered in body parts, many still writhing in undeath. The last remaining undead ceased his hovering and lowered himself to the ground on the far edge of the training pit, his blank white eyes slowly clouded over and became red. The bits of undead flesh that was nearest him began to wriggle their way towards him, as they touched his body the merged into his flesh and added to his presence.

Before her very eyes the creature was growing and becoming more grotesque by the moment, if he was able to absorb all of his diced up companions he could rival the size of a fully grown Rancor Bull. To make matters worse he was still capable of at least two deadly forms of attack, one of which was flying her way now. The lightning bolt was truly aimed this time, if Syren did not block or leap out of the way she would be struck this time.

    OOC: No worries!

    IC: Darth Syren

Her red blades sliced and tore through body after body as Syren dodged haphazard lightning strikes from above. Her unknowing ally had not let her down and continuously attempted to kill her with its terrible aim, instead destroying its undead brothers.

    Perfect!

Her perverse pleasure in the carnage that was now strewn about the pit floor came to a peak as she cut down the final creature to remain on its feet. Breathing heavily and covered with sweat and gore, she looked up to focus on slaying the last of her foes. Anxiously twirling her sabers about, she took a step that was intended to send her flying towards the airborne corpse, but she never got off the ground.

All of a sudden it lowered itself and set down opposite her, leaving a good distance between them. Still burning to end this quickly, she moved forward intending to lessen that gap but again was forced to stop short. Abrupt movement all around had startled her enough that she froze.

    What the kriff now?!

Slowly but with purpose, mangled pieces of torn flesh and body parts began to pull themselves towards the far creature. Slithering and squirming, they latched onto the undead, merging into a grotesque mash up of tissue and bone. As a result, it began to grow in size. And grow. And grow.

Her eyes widened as they followed it upwards, its size now the sum total of all the undead she had slew. Huge blood-red eyes focused on the apprentice and her stomach turned. The extreme vulnerability she now felt was much more than she was comfortable with.

The beast began to gather an intense amount of energy and hurled it at her with speed and fury. She doubted her ability to block such an assault with her sabers alone so she leapt quickly and clumsily aside. As the lightning strike came down right where her feet had stood a moment earlier, the shockwave threw her body out an extra uncontrolled distance. Not able to recover her balance in time, she slammed to the uneven ground on her stomach.

Growling through the pain, she swiftly returned to her feet. Syren knew she couldn’t stay still and chose a direct path to the hulking beast, charging at full speed. She had to keep to her previous plan and not think too hard about what was to be done even though the circumstances had been greatly altered.

    KILL. Or be killed.

Pushing off with the Force as she approached, she let loose a furious shout as her weapons came down from overhead. She had reversed her grip on her saber hilts to add extra power to a descending stabbing strike aimed at what she assumed would be the creature’s chest. She had no idea if this would do any damage or how the creature would react, but she had to test its limits somehow. If it had any.

The mountain of flesh quivered as Syren's blades cut deep, but it's host felt no pain. In fact, it laughed. "More!" It mocked.

She could butcher this thing all day long but she was just cutting at lifeless meat, she needed to attack the heart of the beast. The last remaining intelligent undead, he was in there somewhere, controlling the mass of body parts.

It formed an arm out of the massive body and swung at the attacker, she was like a fly to it, it's movement was not swift but if she was caught in it's path the power could crush her small frame.

As Syren’s lightsabers came down, slicing deep into the layered undead flesh, she managed to carve through it as she slid back to the pit floor. Once she regained her footing, she looked up to see the charred gashes left by her weapons, but no reaction from the great beast. Except… was that laughter?

“More!” It shouted at her. Taunting her. Her lips curled back into a sneer as her hands clenched tight on her saber hilts.

She furiously began stabbing, cutting, and slicing at the mound of melded bodies that writhed in front of her. Pieces flew this way and that, continuing to cover her in substances she’d rather not think about.

Stopping, seemingly doing no damage whatsoever, her eyes were drawn to the side of the beast. A limb that resembled an arm materialized out of the shifting flesh and swung low directly for her. It was massive and while moving slower than she, Syren knew it would squash her like a bug if it made contact. At the last second she sprung up and flipped backwards with the aid of the Force, out of the path of potential doom.

Landing and stepping back to put distance between herself and her foe, she was perplexed as to how to successfully attack and destroy this creature.

Damn it! What do I do?!

She stood facing the quivering mountain and deactivated her left saber, clipping it back to her belt. Lifting her now empty hand towards it, she decided to take a chance. Her eyes closed and her face screwed up in intense concentration as she reached out through the Force. She sifted through the layers of limbs and flesh, inside the bones and muscle, seeking, searching…. there. It had a unique presence compared to the nonexistent ones of the others and she had found it; her little helper, hiding inside its fortress of undead demon parts.

Syren’s eyes flew open and she pressed her concentration even further as she balled her hand into a fist as if to physically grasp the creature she sought. Intending to pull the it from its protective cocoon, she focused all of herself on that presence. Beginning to move forward, accelerating with each step, she pulled her closed fist back towards her. Winding up her still-activated right lightsaber, she took the last few steps at a run to hopefully meet her target halfway. If she couldn’t fully bring it forth out of the flesh, she would make sure to get it close enough to the surface to reach her weapon.

Launching herself at the massive beast, she wrenched her empty hand backwards while simultaneously thrusting her lone saber forward in an attempt to draw out her prey and invite it to feel the heat of her blade.

The little demon squealed as the Sith found him and grabbed hold, he fought her every inch of the way, grasping at limbs that only gave way against her pull. His fear was palpable, Darth Syren could feel it.

Could she draw upon it? Make his fear serve her?

As the pale skinned being emerged from the mountain of flesh his eyes were wide with rage and he screamed his protest at the woman, but his power was no match for a trained Sith, even as he she drove her lightsaber forward he could do nothing but watch. The searing heat pierced his flesh, skewering organs and severing bone, but he was not dead...not yet.

Twin white orbs started into her soul, a single hand reaching forward attempting to grasp at her, if only he could reach her he could feed upon her energy and drain her of life.

She was close, his body still impaled on her blade, the pain of it threatened to consume him but he hungered.

A wicked smile appeared on Syren’s face.

The creature burst free of its protective shell and hurtled towards her, held firm in the grasp of the Force. She could feel its fear radiating out in waves that grew in intensity as the body flew closer. It was intoxicating.

The undead screamed in agony and rage as her lightsaber speared through flesh and bone, the crimson blade meeting its target as she had planned. Falling after impact, the pair met ground as one. Having the upper hand, the apprentice shoved downwards on an arc that swept the creature off its feet. It slammed to the pit floor on its back and found itself pinned when she seamlessly followed the move with her right knee that came about with crushing force to its stomach.

Her dark eyes met their opposite in her foe’s white, blank gaze. She leaned in to stare in morbid fascination while slowly twisting the blade and pushing it in further until the hilt could progress no more.

Now that they were close, the demon clawed and reached for her. Attempting to grasp at her hair, arms, and clothing, it sought to consume her even now. The creature’s horror was almost palpable as she greedily fed upon it to serve the darkness that swirled in and around her.

This was the moment. This was when she would finish this and her task would be complete.

The creature surely sensed it, its eyes growing wide as it continued to frantically writhe and squirm with heightening dread.

    Pathetic.

Not averting her gaze, Syren’s free hand reached down to her left boot and loosed a single vibroblade. Holding firm to the handle, she brought it up to the demon’s neck and in one fluid movement sliced deep into its flesh. Blood sprayed across her face as she hit arteries and severed veins. The creature ceased its thrashing only slightly in reaction, but it was just enough for her to yank her lightsaber free.

Dropping her vibroblade to the side, she brought up her left hand to grasp the saber hilt and complete the dual grip. Immediately she thrust downwards and ran the weapon through her foe’s skull, right between the eyes. The body seized and then went limp with the permanence of death, real death this time.

Shuddering, Syren deactivated her blade and looked up at the mountain of flesh and body parts that still stood before her. She quickly climbed to her feet and wiped the dripping blood from her face with the back of a hand.

Glaring at the massive beast, she spread her arms wide and waited.

    ~Defel~

A mysterious defel seemingly appears out of nowhere, its red visor that is the only thing that betrays its presence due to the being's shadow-like body in appearance, and begins to look around. It moves slowly and not very much at all, the visor calmly surveying all that which the defel can gaze upon in this 'Rancor Pit'.

After a few agonizing minutes of silence from whence it stood, it finally let loose a sound. A question at that.

"What manner of place is this?"

It did not seem to denote a particular target for its inquiry, but rather let it loose upon the general area and let Fate decide whom would answer. Or if any would answer at all.

The mountain of body parts ceased to writhe with motion as Darth Syren stood before it, defiant in her victory, she seemed to invite it to attack her again. None came, the flesh was dead without the power of the sentient undead to control it.

It simply became a heap of disgusting, rotting, bloody body parts. It was then that the Apprenticed realized her present condition.

There she stood, arms wide an the red glow of her lightsaber illuminating the pit, her clothing and hair both spattered with blood and tissue.

    She was a mess.

It was then the the silence struck her, after the chaos of the challenge it stood out as somehow eerie.

Her test, for now, was over. She was not alone however, someone was here, had always been here.

It felt familiar to Darth Syren.

Suspiciously eyeing the mountain of flesh in front of her and then dropping her gaze to the creature she had just slayed, Syren knew there would be no further attack in this forum.

Sighing, full exhaustion set in to every inch of her body in the sudden quiet stillness. She could feel the drying blood and gore upon her face as her arms fell limp to her sides. Replacing her now-deactivated lightsaber back to her belt, the apprentice didn't even bother taking note of the state of her clothing. She could feel the various substances that coated and seeped through the fabric.

    Disgusting, she mentally cringed.

Pushing the trivial matter aside, she became overcome with relief... and confidence. This task her Master had set before her had been a true challenge, one that she had successfully passed. Not that she had been worried she would fail, of course. All the same, she acknowledged her triumph with a rather large smile that she made no moves to hide.

Focusing on steadying her breathing while remaining alert in the almost unnatural calm that now filled the Pit, she moved to pick up her discarded vibroblade and then took a knee. As she secured the weapon back in its boot holster she suddenly felt a presence in the Force. It was one that she was becoming quite familiar with.

Remaining as she was, Syren bowed her head to properly address the High Lord.

"I have completed my task as you have commanded, Master."

    And once again, she waited.

Syren bowed her head. "I have completed my task as you have commanded, Master."

Arach's gaze warmed with great pride and she didn't bother to hide her corresponding smirk as she slowly stepped into the light. "Well done, my apprentice. You have shone great promise and potential. I believe one day, you will become not only a very powerful Sith, but a very skilled assassin, as well."

She turned her back and made her way to the exit. "Take some rest. I'll summon you soon."

Thank the maker that the Pit was finally clean. It needed a great scrub after all of the chaos and violence that had went down months ago. The only thing that could not be permanently be cleaned would be the dust, which had settled in after the long amount of time it wasn't in use. The only other time it was being use was for Arach's task for her Apprentice, Syren. Cruor was also there, but who really cares at this point?

Kronos had noticed the Emperor, Insipid, roaming around the Pit as well, presumably for the same reasons as Kronos: breathe life back into this wonderful place once again.

Multiple shuttles had begun to land outside, each carrying an unknown cargo, encased in several strongly locked boxes. Every box was made out of a deep red ray shield, and behind that was Mandalorian Iron. He wasn't going to spare any expense with this.

An upside to the absence of most people was that he could secretly install new things into the Pit, and gather what he needed for what he considered to be a big showstopper.

Droids rolled, more like floated, boxes through the semi-small back doors to the Pit.

The Rancor still lied in its cage, rarely seeing daylight, being fed through a smaller door placed on the front of the cage.

Multiple openings, only big enough for a 7 foot tall human surrounded the giant inside of the Pit. Only he would know what would come out of there. And, his current partner, Bellorum, but she rarely seemed to show up anymore.

Everything was going according to plan, however.

    The games should begin soon.

Another order had just arrived. Multiple droids had walked out of shuttles carrying cryogenic crates, each one holding something dangerous. Probably. Just not in the "munch munch" kind of way.

More of the extremely annoying fashion.

He would become one of the most hated after he introduces this thing.

He still had one more order to receive. And it would be arriving very quickly. Well, he assumed, anyway. He had asked "very nicely" over the comlink for a speedy delivery.

On top of that, they were still missing a few parts for a dome he wanted to put over the Pit. Give it a better look than before. It would also repel dust, and that's a win in any situation.

The final order had arrived. This one was much harder to obtain, as this thing was rarer than anything he had planned to get. The main creatures were becoming more and more common to see and obtain, the pain they were. Anything else he wanted was much easier to get, both the parts, and the creatures. He had gotten much smaller beasts as well, and he had frozen them in cryogenic stasis, which should keep their identity a secret. At least until the official reveal.

Insipid had brought in Vong slaves, which Kronos didn't really approve of. He never really liked the things, never thought they belonged. But, be as it may, they would finally prove useful here. He tasked them with carrying the new order into a separate room, fit for something as dangerous as whatever was in that box. Well, when they were fit to fight. That could take a while, perhaps a day, perhaps not.

He had fought against them before.

And once the Vong were finished with their jobs, he would immediately kill them. They weren't a part of the plan - they were just there to put it into motion, unexpectedly as well.

The dome was shaping up. Once fully installed, Kronos had some games he would play with it. It could darken, tint the windows. Lights could hang from the inside. When shut off, and the windows tinted, it would become pitch black inside. There would be nothing but darkness, a technical recreation of Cruor's little game he played months ago. Nothing but darkness, except for the puny light given off from their sabers. But would that be enough?

He grinned, widely. Everything was proceeding well.
