I remember reading the novelisation before the release of TESB in 1980. I vividly remember running out to tell my parents about Vader’s reveal to Luke. Seeing the movie in the Cinema was amazing. So good that I saved up my allowance and saw it 6 times in 2 weeks.
Fast Forward to TLJ, we are waiting the release of the novel next month. My initial thoughts, after leaving the cinema on the opening day, were that it was quite good then my brain began to pick it apart the next morning. Don’t get me wrong, I do not hate TLJ. There are parts I love but, some scenes could have been so much better. I never dissected TESB because imo it is a very well written story. If you have a good story, you are willingly to defy disbelief and become immersed in a galaxy far, far away.
I will be very interested to read people’s reaction after the release of TLJ novelisation.

Change friends to Star Wars and that’s the biggest issue every new Star Wars film has faced from older minds.

We will always forgive more of whatever franchise or film we grew up with first. There’s just something magical about that age range and discovery. When something works for you it works and when you’re 8-12 and you aren’t actively seeking out criticism for something you love most of it works. Many of the kids who grew up with the prequels who post here see the prequels the same way. Many of the older people who grew up with the OT see the OT the same way. Nostalgia helps us forgive a lot. If we met some of our childhood friends for the first time as adults at work we might not even hang out, much less become friends. The same thing happens with new Star Wars movies with some people. Lucas said it himself. Star Wars is for 12 year olds first and foremost. Anyone who is able to enjoy the new offerings passionately while being older is fortunate because it’s very easy to turn a cynical mind on any aspect of Star Wars — even TESB — and pick it apart. That some grade the new material by different rules than they do the era they grew up with doesn’t surprise me. It’s human nature.

It's called liking a movie vs. disliking a movie. I don't care about logical flaws really, but I notice them and discuss them. I notice them for ESB and discuss them. I notice them for TLJ and discuss them. They aren't why I like ESB or why I dislike TLJ. It's just that you seem to take it personally that they're noticed in TLJ at all.

I'm not being overly harsh. I'm discussing a fictional movie. I could make a list of logical flaws of ESB. You could too, and I wouldn't get defensive or offended or act like ESB is beyond reproach. It's a movie. It's not that serious.

Still, people absolutely can hold up TLJ's logical flaws as "evidence" of why they think TLJ is a worse film than TESB. Logically, a person might feel there are way way way way more logical flaws in TLJ and they're distracting, or a person might feel that the logical flaws individually are worse. You're not really in a position to argue that that's a terrible argument when your argument is summed up as "whataboutism." Whataboutism makes no point at all. It's just a distraction. Talk about the movie on its merits, and if you can't, you reveal it when you change the subject. I can talk about ESB, and its logical flaws, without changing the subject or engaging in whataboutism.

I grew up with the OT, loved the PT and TFA. No, I am not cynical.
TESB was a better movie imo.
TLJ had more flaws and the 12 yr old me would have thought so as well.

Impressive. Using whataboutism to dismiss whataboutism (I can't dismiss the logic behind an argument cause whatabout my argument).

Point is that if you're willing to use the logical flaws against TLJ as why you hate it better provide evidence with has more than TESB, or people are rightfully going to call out the double standard. It's a weak argument, especially when there are so many actually good arguments as to why TESB is better. I have yet to see a logical flaw that superseded anything in TESB.

    Even handedness is key.

Return Of The Jedi is not necessarily at fault. The fault was Lucas and Irvin who decided that ESB should be ambitious in that it does not complete itself, rather ends in an unfinished state. This would have led ROTJ regardless to be weakened unless Lucas made ROTJ a much longer or 2-Part film, which by that time he was being burned out by the monster he created and continued to produce. TFA and TLJ have the same if not far worse issues at hand because they decided this structure was superior when in the end, it wasn't. Following the past sometimes does not garner positive results as it does in the present day.

This is why I've always opted for AOTC to be the better examples of a middle film tying most of it's loose ends together without the 3rd film being so tied down to incomplete plot points. TLJ sort of does both but in a haphazard way...

Strange huh? Shmi, a character whom does not seem all that popular compared to Leia had more importance, presence and purposeful screen time. Great-Granny Shmi got it goin on...

Correct. Not to mention that Shmi had significantly warmer and tender moments in TPM with her son. The newer films seem to not embrace that. Why so mechanical or small snippets of parental love spread throughout the ST?

Ok, here we go. I previously mentioned I had "150" reasons why TLJ was a poorly written movie. I decided to cut out tons of these, deeming many to simply be opinions or very small logical errors that can have easy fixes assumed. So, I got it down to what I view to be 41 illogical things that make it a poorly written plot. In order to comply with the tone rules of this thread (not being the dissenters' sanctuary), I will phrase them all in question format, even though I have not been able to find legitimate solutions to them; that way, anyone can feel free to share their "solutions" if you wish. I have also separated other "complaints" into a separate list, which will be after the 41 "logical" problems. I also will admit that I was not around when TESB came out, so I guess I can't say for sure that I wouldn't have had similar problems with that movie then, but I certainly don't now and hold TESB to be the best-written story in the saga.

41 "Logical" Issues in The Last Jedi:
    1. How has the FO achieved galactic domination in a few days despite appearing relatively small and losing their main base in TFA, and lacking infrastructure on planets throughout the galaxy? (world-building issue)
    2. Why don't Hux and Canady shoot Poe immediately if they declare he's in attack position? (leads to a prank call and your momma joke)
    3. Why are the dreadnaught surface cannons incapable of hitting Poe, and why is Hux not aware of this design flaw?
    4. Why are there no shields on the dreadnaught to protect it?
    5. How does one TIE fighter crashing into one bomber immediately cause 4 bombers to blow up?
    6. How does Hux know all about hyperspace tracking, but Snoke, the mastermind, does not?
    7. How does Finn have no lasting injuries or problems from his lightsaber slice to the back in TFA?
    8. How does Kylo shoot 2 missiles through the deflector shield on the Raddus hangar?
    9. How does Leia survive the lack of oxygen in space despite there being no Force "field" around her, and how does she open the door to get back in?
    10. Why aren't Poe, Finn, and Connix blown out into space when the door opens to let Leia in?
    11. Why are the FO's lasers "ineffective" at the distance they trail the Raddus?
    12. Why won't Holdo tell Poe, the man who saved them all by destroying the dreadnaught and a highly respected and loved leader, her plan?
    13. Is it illegal to leave the Resistance (a group of "freedom fighters"), or is Rose acting improperly by turning deserters in?
    14. How does Finn pilot the ship to Canto Bight despite not knowing how to pilot a ship?
    15. How do Finn and Rose happen to pick the exact right time of night to find the master codebreaker in the casino?
    16. Why do the pilots of the Resistance support ships stay behind to die instead of using autopilot or droids?
    17. Why does Finn feel so proud of harming random citizens, tourists, and property in Canto Bight? (those rich people won't suffer anyway; they're rich)
    18. How does Rey swim to the top of the deep water pit despite it being implied she has no experience ever with water?
    19. Why does Rey go from hating Kylo to being invested in his redemption in a matter of minutes?
    20. If Yoda's Force ghost can manipulate physical-world phenomena, why hasn't he been using this technique to help destroy the dark side?
    21. Why does Snoke remove Rey's handcuffs if he only wants to torture and kill her? Why risk being harmed?
    22. How does Snoke know of the Resistance transports despite talking to nobody since Hux learned of this just seconds before?
    23. Why do Rey and Kylo opt not to use the Force at all when fighting the Praetorian Guards?
    24. How does Rey perform better than Kylo in the guard fight despite having no training while Kylo trained for years under both Luke Skywalker and Snoke?
    25. Why does Phasma think decapitation will cause more "hurt" to Finn and Rose than blaster fire?
    26. How does Phasma suddenly disappear when the Supremacy is split in two and then walk in from a distance?
    27. How does Phasma suddenly lose her rifle so she can fight Finn with a pike, but then fires at Rose with a pistol? (that pistol would've been quite useful on Finn)
    28. How does a shooting turret randomly appear in the destruction area to fire at Rose, and then disappears?
    29. Why is Rey not tempted with the dark side at all despite Star Wars establishing that it is the quick and easy path, and that light side mastery takes long and focused training?
    30. How do the AT-M6s get on Crait despite the Supremacy and star destroyers being heavily destroyed just before?
    31. If the speeders can't shoot, what are they trying to accomplish by speeding towards the walkers and cannon?
    32. Why do the gorilla walkers stop shooting randomly for a few moments?
    33. Why does Poe demand everyone back out and no one sacrifice themselves, despite letting Paige sacrifice herself to take out the dreadnaught earlier?
    34. Why don't the walkers fire at Finn despite him being the last threat to flying into their cannon?
    35. How does Rose get so far ahead of Finn to make a 90 degree turn and crash into him, risking both of their deaths?
    36. Why doesn't Rose understand that Finn was "saving what he loved" by sacrificing himself? Her sister Paige did the same thing with the dreadnaught.
    37. Why do Rose and Finn share a kiss as the door to the base is blown open in the background, leaving the Resistance wide open to total destruction?
    38. How does Finn drag Rose all the way back to the base, maybe a km or more away, on a plain white surface with red dirt underneath, without being shot at?
    39. Why can't Leia move the large rocks despite being established as a powerful Force user in this movie?
    40. Why is Rey the first person to feel Luke dying despite forming no bond with him at all?
    41. How do the stable kids on Canto Bight know of Luke's legendary act on Crait despite no one being able to spread the word to them? (and the Resistance didn't even witness the totality of it)
TONE problems within the same scene: (these scenes have heavily conflicting tones that confuse the viewer and lead to a feeling of emptiness)
    • Luke tossing the lightsaber stops an intense and powerful entrance dead cold (sadness vs. humor)
    • In Rey and Kylo's 1st Force skype, she is sad about Han while Luke chills grumpily in the background and the alien nuns make funny noises (sadness vs. humor)
    • In another Force skype, Rey cries over Han but then must blush at Kylo shirtless (sadness vs. humor/awkwardness)
    • Finn's intense sacrifice into the cannon is stopped dead cold by Rose (powerful emotion vs. irritating emptiness)
    • Rose kisses Finn while the door to the base is blown open in the background (total mess of emotions)
    Unfulfilling Realities/Poor Character Behavior:
    • Luke's first actions minutes after learning of Han's death are to reject the call to duty and happily chug milk from an alien cow
    • Chewbacca has nothing to do except play with porgs and be an Uber driver, and has only one (unfulfilling) line with Luke
    • We see Rose mourn Paige (two brand new characters we have no connection to), but not Luke mourn Han
    • Luke explains the entire 30-years backstory to his Jedi Academy and Ben Solo in just a few short, weak sentences
    • The hero Luke has given up on fighting for justice so he can be alone, bask in self pity, and die
    • Rey faces no failures or setbacks and can do things Luke and Yoda can with zero training
    • Luke intruded on Ben Solo's mind while he slept and nearly murdered him...while he slept
    • Rey pleads with cave reflection to reveal her parents despite moving beyond this in TFA (retreading old ground)
    • Rey defeats Luke in physical combat and stands above him ready to save the galaxy while Luke lays in the mud
    • Luke has learned nothing since the OT and needs Yoda to school him again
    • The new ST main characters can't stand on their own without having to assassinate the OT ones
    • Rey takes the Jedi texts with her despite already mastering everything and needing no help from anyone or anything
    • Rey tells Kylo she feels the conflict within him = direct steal from ROTJ
    • Snoke's spyglass and "watch your friends die" moment = direct steal from ROTJ
    • Snoke goes from being mysterious and calculated in TFA to being up-front and simplistic and then dies with no backstory
    • The term "rebels" is used randomly and interchangeably with "Resistance" which makes things messy
    • BB-8 has no deep conversational relevance anymore; he just performs convenient tasks at will
    • AT-M6s = easy copies of AT-ATs
    • Finn has a nonexistent character arc; goes from first wanting to run and then wanting to stay and fight in TFA to retreading the exact same ground in TLJ
    • Crait tunnel chase = direct steal from Death Star tunnel chase in ANH
    • Rose ruins Finn's sacrifice horribly
    • Luke's shoulder brush is out of character for both the OT Luke and TLJ Luke, so now we have 3 different Lukes
And I guess I just want to say that if you have to say "a character is just stupid" to explain a certain behavior or logical issue, that's not really a good defense, and kind of proves the writing is hollow. Also, making up ridiculous assumptions that are not shown in the movie is doing the writer's job for him, proving the writing is not impressive.

    Any movie can be nitpicked.

Nitpicking doesn't really matter what matters is what works thematically.

TFA sets up that Snoke and Luke are important, TLJ cancels that out and tells us they are not.

The investment in time here from the audience is wasted on a treadmill. Could have just started TFA opening scroll with

    "LUKE SKYWALKER IS DEAD
Felled by his evil apprentice KYLO REN
REN a master in the dark side of the force is now SUPREME LEADER of the dreaded FIRST ORDER after a bold act of treachery
    etc
    etc"

Snoke was a complete waste of time and could have been relegated to a minor reference in the title crawl.

I disagree that Luke wasn't important.

I don't think Snoke was set up to be important story wise. People just took the idea and ran with it. I don't think he was set up to be any more important than the Emperor in the OT.

I don't have that much of an interest to provide "points against TLJ" (others do this sufficiently), as I repeatedly stated that I don't like what I perceive as OT 'nest fouling'.

But since we are at it: The belligerents in ESB on both sides make sound strategic decisions - and the one who doesn't (according to Vader) gets instantly executed. Watching portions of the film had qualities of watching a war correspondent's live coverage.

In contrast the belligerents in TLJ act and make decisions that make me wonder how they earned their promotions in the first place. Watching portions of the movie had qualities of watching a comedy (Hux) or a play of mistaken identities (Holdo).

Well thats because, contary to popular belief, they aren't the Empire or Rebellion.

The FO aren't hardened by military experience, and are clearly bound to nepotism. They are upstarts. That's why they are arrogant, inexperienced and partly incompetent.

The Resistance is clearly stumped by the fact their military orthodoxy has been shattered by the FOs new technology.

Here is another one for you. Why post this message when you stated this already?

Seems illogical, completely contradictory and out of character...I mean you argue that Luke brushing dust off his shoulder is completely out of character but by that same logic, I am using a real life example of 2 completely contradictory statements you might see how hypocritical this is?

Or could it be that the same liberty board members give you in just brushing off your absolute statement that you would never post this list is a liberty not often granted by folks who disliked this movie to the filmmakers?

You are absolutely right that tons of YouTuber's "problems" with the movie are really not problems at all and result from either their lack of knowledge of Star Wars (where they make serious mistakes in explaining things), or they just criticize every single little event as if it's bad. That's why I discarded the majority of (hundreds) of complaints I've come across, and cut it down to a list of what I view to be legitimate concerns. You can take a look above if you wish, and feel free to correct me if I missed something, too. Or not. Whatever you wish :)

Sorry you took offense to it, I am actually glad you posted the list. I was just trying to point out how being literal gets people in trouble and how a lot of the criticism of the movie is some fans being extremely literal and not giving absolutely any liberty to the film makers.

You wrote something several days back and today you did the opposite. But as you rightfully point out, it’s because of reasons.

The same thing applies to characters in a fictional world, and sometimes I hope fans would allow the film makers to have a bit more freedom than they are allowed.

Fair points, but my change of mind isn't due to "just because." It was due to specific, logical reasons: I initially didn't know if I would be allowed to submit such a post outside of the dissenters' thread, didn't think I would want to do that. But then at least one user said he would gladly take a look at legitimate problems I had with the story, and then a mod told me I could freely criticize as long as long as I left the conversation open and didn't resort to straight up bashing. Because of those two real developments, I logically changed my mind. Some of the problems I asked about in my list do not appear to have such logical explanations, which is why I posted them.

It’s easy to nitpick. To give some perspective of how easily one could reach nitpicks let’s focus only on Hoth.

    1) How are we to believe that this base was built in these kinds of weather conditions with no contractors involved who would know the location of such a base? This is a Rebellion movement. Wouldn’t the people capable of building a base in that location be the first place the Empire would shake down for answers?

    2) Why is someone as important as Luke heading out to check out an Asteroid? If it’s more than that he’s alone anyway.

    3) How are Tauntauns native to Hoth with no other food source in these conditions?

    4) If they’re native to Hoth how do they die before humans in parkas in the cold?

    5) How did Luke learn to ride Tauntaun? Luke grew up on a desert planet without them and it’s never shown on screen how he became such an expert.

    6) In these conditions how is relying on an animal that can die sooner than a human can a more reliable and trustworthy way to travel then any other powered vehicle which can provide warmth?

    7) How does the Wampa survive in the Tauntauns are all domesticated by the Rebels?

    8) Why haven’t the Rebels killed the Wampa given its potential to swipe any of them off of a Tauntaun and eat them.

    9) How does the Wampa stick it’s prey upside down?

    10) How did Luke move the saber with only his mind? When did he learn this trick and from who?

    11) Why aren’t there better tracking systems or communications systems for this climate?

    12) What plan did the Rebels have if the cables wouldn’t have worked?

    13) How are the people in the trench really helping standing and waiting? Shouldn’t they also be in vehicles blasting while the walkers are still far away?

    14) The Walkers don’t have rear facing weaponry. Why doesn’t everyone fly left and right and come back around and flank them from behind and hover and blast them from up top?

    15) The ion cannon that can be shot through a shield that won’t allow shots in was incredibly powerful and damaged the Destroyer. Want not shoot it more often at other targets?

    16) Yoda thinks Luke is too old to begin training but Obi-Wan waits 3 years after ANH to start and decides to tell him to do so in the middle of the war randomly?

    17) The heroes of the past war can just come and go as they please in this Rebellion effort and provide no updates? What’s to stop people from going AWOL or deserting and just saying “I wanted to go learn something? Or I thought it better to go hang out for a while with an old friend?”

    18) The blockade is a joke. A vast Empire has them cornered at Hoth and everyone significant escapes.

    19) The asteroid scene and the part about getting out into the Exogorth is just filler with questionable logistics.

    20) If Vader can sense Luke why doesn’t he just follow him with his own convoy?

    21) If Walkers can be lassoed why isn’t everyone doing this in the galaxy? Why aren’t there orbs or nets or drones who just circle and lasso walkers, rendering them useless?

This is just the opening! People can nitpick Star Wars like this all day if they want.

As I suspected, that list does not hold much water in terms of "poor storytelling". As reasons why you don't like the film, they are fair enough. People like what they like. But poor storytelling is not necessarily "things someone doesn't like". Will reply point by point ASAP. And yes, examples from ESB and the other films will form part of pointing out why a lot of those complaints do not hold water if you are being even-handed ( in regards to one of the ongoing themes of the current debate - such example are not needed to hold up the storytelling).

"Logical" Issues in The Last Jedi:EXPLAINED...full disclosure, i've seen the movie 2x so there are things I don't remember.

How has the FO achieved galactic domination in a few days despite appearing relatively small and losing their main base in TFA, and lacking infrastructure on planets throughout the galaxy? (world-building issue)
Explained by Hux in TFA: We shall destroy the government that supports the Resistance, the Republic. Without their friends to protect them, the Resistance will be vulnerable. This fierce machine which you have built, upon which we stand, will bring an end to the Senate! To their cherished fleet! All remaining systems will bow to the First Order!

Why don't Hux and Canady shoot Poe immediately if they declare he's in attack position? (leads to a prank call and your momma joke)
Because Poe is stalling for time implying he has a message from Leia to deliver to Snoke. Hux must believe it’s a surrender and thus doesn’t shot until it’s to late.

Why are the dreadnaught surface cannons incapable of hitting Poe, and why is Hux not aware of this design flaw?
    Star Wars engineering 101

Why are there no shields on the dreadnaught to protect it?
    Same reason this happens: [IMG]

How does one TIE fighter crashing into one bomber immediately cause 4 bombers to blow up?
    Ask this guy [IMG]

How does Hux know all about hyperspace tracking, but Snoke, the mastermind, does not?
    Honestly, I don’t remember this, so I won’t answer.

How does Finn have no lasting injuries or problems from his lightsaber slice to the back in TFA?
    Bacta water

How does Kylo shoot 2 missiles through the deflector shield on the Raddus hangar?
Deflector shields can be damaged. Here is one example in cannon:

    LUKE

    What's that flashing?

    HAN

    We're losing our deflector shield.

How does Leia survive the lack of oxygen in space despite there being no Force "field" around her, and how does she open the door to get back in?
She used the force to go from point A to point B, in space, there was no wind or gravity, so it was easier for her to do it using the force. In ESB, they walk around in space without any issues whatsoever in the slug

Why aren't Poe, Finn, and Connix blown out into space when the door opens to let Leia in?
There are 2 doors (the door you see her hand against and a hatch before that), she opened the hatch and then we see her against the other door while the hatch closed behind her. It’s in the movie.

Why are the FO's lasers "ineffective" at the distance they trail the Raddus?
    See answer to #3

Why won't Holdo tell Poe, the man who saved them all by destroying the dreadnaught and a highly respected and loved leader, her plan?
He didn’t save them, as they suffered a ton of losses because of his maneuver, he was demoted in rank and thus there was no reason for Holdo to share anything with Poe and Poe should’ve just gone to his post and told what to do

Is it illegal to leave the Resistance (a group of "freedom fighters"), or is Rose acting improperly by turning deserters in?
AWOL’ing is a crime and I don’t see why this would be a logic issue.

How does Finn pilot the ship to Canto Bight despite not knowing how to pilot a ship?
Finn needed a pilot that could escape the 1st order, I guess he could casually fly a ship. Plus he takes BB8 with him and here is an example within canon of a droid asking if he could fly a ship:

LUKE (into comlink) Yes, Artoo? Artoo utters a soft, carefully phrased steam of whistles. LUKE (into comlink, chuckling) That's all right. I'd like to keep it on manual control for a while.

How do Finn and Rose happen to pick the exact right time of night to find the master codebreaker in the casino?
How did Luke know that R2D2 was going to be assigned to the deck of Jabba’s sail barge?

Why do the pilots of the Resistance support ships stay behind to die instead of using autopilot or droids?
The movie explains this by saying they would sense no human life form on the ship and realize something is up. Plus, it’s the old movie trope of the captain going down with the ship.

Why does Finn feel so proud of harming random citizens, tourists, and property in Canto Bight? (those rich people won't suffer anyway; they're rich)
It’s implied that they are slave owners and arms dealers. Not just rich people.

How does Rey swim to the top of the deep water pit despite it being implied she has no experience ever with water?
Is this an issue? If so, how does Luke learn? In empire strikes back he just jumps into the swamp. Furthermore: I have lived in a desert, it rarely rains, the movie implies that Rey is fascinated by the rain. In the desert I lived, there were pools. In TFA there is water.

Why does Rey go from hating Kylo to being invested in his redemption in a matter of minutes?
“Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her.”

If Yoda's Force ghost can manipulate physical-world phenomena, why hasn't he been using this technique to help destroy the dark side?
    Who says he hasn’t?

Why does Snoke remove Rey's handcuffs if he only wants to torture and kill her? Why risk being harmed?
As shown in the movie, Rey was unable to harm Snoke at all. She didn’t need the handcuffs around him.

How does Snoke know of the Resistance transports despite talking to nobody since Hux learned of this just seconds before?
    The Supreme Leader is wise

Why do Rey and Kylo opt not to use the Force at all when fighting the Praetorian Guards?
Forgive me, but I thought the force users were forcing a ton during that scene.

How does Rey perform better than Kylo in the guard fight despite having no training while Kylo trained for years under both Luke Skywalker and Snoke?
I thought both Rey and Kylo perform equally good.

Why does Phasma think decapitation will cause more "hurt" to Finn and Rose than blaster fire?
    I wager it does.

How does Phasma suddenly disappear when the Supremacy is split in two and then walk in from a distance?
    She regrouped

How does Phasma suddenly lose her rifle so she can fight Finn with a pike, but then fires at Rose with a pistol? (that pistol would've been quite useful on Finn)
    I don’t remember this, I won’t answer

How does a shooting turret randomly appear in the destruction area to fire at Rose, and then disappears?
    Same as 27

Why is Rey not tempted with the dark side at all despite Star Wars establishing that it is the quick and easy path, and that light side mastery takes long and focused training?
I felt like Rey was walking the thin dark line a ton in this movie.

How do the AT-M6s get on Crait despite the Supremacy and star destroyers being heavily destroyed just before?
    Same answer as number 3

If the speeders can't shoot, what are they trying to accomplish by speeding towards the walkers and cannon?
I don’t remember them not shooting.

Why do the gorilla walkers stop shooting randomly for a few moments?
    Same answer as number 3

Why does Poe demand everyone back out and no one sacrifice themselves, despite letting Paige sacrifice herself to take out the dreadnaught earlier?
Because he learned his lesson from the beginning of the movie. That was his character arch in this movie.

Why don't the walkers fire at Finn despite him being the last threat to flying into their cannon?
Same reason they didn’t fire at Luke in ESB.

How does Rose get so far ahead of Finn to make a 90 degree turn and crash into him, risking both of their deaths?
Same reason Han is able to come back with the MF during the trench run.

Why doesn't Rose understand that Finn was "saving what he loved" by sacrificing himself? Her sister Paige did the same thing with the dreadnaught.
Finn was about to crash his speeder into a laser. He wasn’t saving anyone

Why do Rose and Finn share a kiss as the door to the base is blown open in the background, leaving the Resistance wide open to total destruction?
Why does Leia tell Han that she loves him when he was about to be frozen?

How does Finn drag Rose all the way back to the base, maybe a km or more away, on a plain white surface with red dirt underneath, without being shot at?
    Read answer to number 34

Why can't Leia move the large rocks despite being established as a powerful Force user in this movie?
As explained before, she moved in space, where there was 0 resistance. Rocks are different.

Why is Rey the first person to feel Luke dying despite forming no bond with him at all?
Rey and Luke formed a bond, you might not have liked that bond, but the bond was there.

How do the stable kids on Canto Bight know of Luke's legendary act on Crait despite no one being able to spread the word to them? (and the Resistance didn't even witness the totality of it)
How did the galaxy find out so soon that the empire was defeated at the end of Return of The Jedi?

Honestly I hate with a passion the attention seeking modern day social media trends of "ten reasons why" or "ten things you missed" or "ten things wrong with"...... and so on and so on. Let alone having to trawl through 150.

Anyone can sit down with any film and nitpick the things they don't like or aspects that seem illogical, thats the movie business for you. Its a totally pointless exercise to me, you either like it and live with those things or you don't. No point wasting energy on them, whats done is done.

This comparison of alleged issues with TESB vs the issues in TLJ is just an exercise in using false equivalence to score debating points.

Suspension of disbelief is the foundation of story telling. To say that the plot holes in movie a make it identical to movie b which has plot holes is a fallacy.

If the plot holes in one don't affect the enjoyment while the plot holes in the other ruin the movie experience then those films are by definition very different.

Just because it may be illogical for a slug to live in an asteroid does not absolve TLJ from basing the entire movie around a wobbly piece of contrivance to explain why the FO's fleet is incapable of attacking the resistance ships for 12 hours.

And if a viewer can watch the Space Slug and think, meh...I'll buy it, while being unable to reconcile why the fleet didn't just send 50 fighters to assist the 3 which had already effectively wiped out all the hangar bays and killed the resistsnce leadership, then clearly for that person the two movies are not euivalent at all.

All movies depend upon a suspension of disbelief because all movies have issues. If that suspension of disbelief fails for large numbers of viewers then that is in fact an actual sign the movie is at fault. Not a sign of bias.
