I agree as long as we never see Obi Wan doing Death Sticks we should be fine.

But we did get death sticks. To which we owe the existence of this thread to.

Wasn't it from S5 episodes where there was quite a few graphic beheadings? Though were edited back in on the dvd release?

Fantasy drugs are also a pretty old part of the fabric of SW. We got "spice" all the way back in ANH.

There was a few comics in the '70s that wanted to do anti-drug stories but the censors wouldn't let them show anything or talk about them so they had to publish the comics un-certified by the Comics Code Authority which was made by the publishers so the puritanical fascists of the '50s wouldn't ruin the industry.

That’s what the sequel trilogy is missing some made up drugs. We figured it out everyone.:p

My objections don't end with certain words or phrases, either.

I also object to Luke brushing his shoulder off on Crait.:p (too "contemporary" for SW in my book...even though it made me chuckle the first time I saw it)

    lol, this is me tonight:

He did it to piss off Ben as much as possible. That’s also why he appeared as his younger self with his blue lightsaber.

The shoulder brushing thing didn't seem too modern to me. I'm not in love with it but it's not because it's too modern. Finn's " droid please" in TFA was too "modern" for me though.

oh, i know why he did it. i just think it's something more associated with contemporary pop culture, not the "fairy tale" feel i associate with SW

Wow! Lot of activity in the last hour.

My problem isn't with curse words per se but with dialogue that sounds too contemporary or connects too much with our world -- that would include "bigass" door, "droid please," some of the things that announcer says in the pod race scene, "Who talks first me or you?" or Chewie's "Tarzan" call.

I also don't like "I'll see you in hell." It implies to me that there's Christianity in GFFA. (Also, why is Han being so mean to that guy? He's just trying to help... and he's right. The Tauntan does freeze, just as he predicted.)

No that’s when he steps in poo. He later talks to Qui Gon and says Moola

i think when he steps in poo he says "icky icky goo":p

i'm not sure i remember the "moola." though that actually sounds more old-fashioned/cornball to me, not modern.

It also flaunts the fact Luke has no dust on him.
The crazy rush to the bathroom?

Ironic considering what the "Dirt Off My Shoulder" gesture means.

Yeah. It's less contemporary and it's more that it has recently crossed cultures. I've seen the gesture all my life.

yeah, come to think of it, i don't think Han's "see you in hell" fits in the GFFA exactly either.
