I've just got out of the movie, awesome. Exactly what I was hoping for. Space War movie, with humour, with cool equipment, great acting, inspiring story, a kick arse Vader, and exactly what they said it would be, a Star Wars story that can stand on its own merits without detracting from the trilogy.

So so good.

The Start is a bit clunky, some of the rebels look a bit too Vietnam era GI for mine, and I would have liked to see a bit more of one of the earlier protagonists, but apart from that I can't fault it. once R1 gets going.... wow. What a great ride. Puts a fire in my belly to start watching the OT all over again.

Well done guys. A very Solid 8.5 out of 10 for me

I give it a 9. Wonderful and very satisfying. It's less than perfect because the music wasn't as impressive as I was expecting it to be.

 

Forest Whitaker over acting with his bung eye and the sound track were my only negatives

 

Easy 10/10

R1 is AWESOME ! beautifully shot , great characters , great cameo's , epic space battle ( best of the saga ) , Dark & visually stunning......

Leaning towards 9 but will hold off till my 2nd viewing.

 

8/10 for me. Very good movie overall, better than TFA, but with some glaring issues that did affect my overall enjoyment of the movie. I do think, however, that if those issues are fixed, this is what Star Wars should look like in the future.

 

I am not sure if Episode 5 is my favorite anymore. Yes, R1 was that great.

 

Are you going to have to make a new tier for Rogue One now?

 

It can live in the EPIC tier for now. R1 deserves it.

I am in the same camp right now, leaning slightly toward TESB but a few rewatches and who knows?

 

I loved that part where K-2SO said that it very likely for fans to like R1 and TFA at the same time without going into R1 vs TFA wars.

 

I said earlier that if it worked then ANH would never be the same again. It worked.

 

It gives a new sense of urgency to the beginning of ANH. R1 IMPROVED ANH !!!!

 

I'm going with 9. The editing, pacing and plotting is wobbly during the 1st act. Once they hit Jedha it clicks into an amazing groove and the last 50 minutes is almost perfect Star Wars. Dr. Evazan almost wipes off a star lol. Needless and awful (though mercifully brief).

 

7.5 for me but I loved it. (For reference: ESB 9.5, ANH 9, ROTJ 8, TPM 5.5, AOTC 3.5, ROTS 7.5, TFA 7.5)

 

10/10. Couldn't have been better. Ranks at #1 tied with SW and ESB. Yes, I believe it was that good.

 

I'm going again tomorrow evening. But now that a few people have seen it:
How great was that ending, makes the search for the plans in ANH seem that much more important
How good was the droid, I'm so happy humour lives in the the Star Wars universe again. Make the serious scenes all the more palpable. And
How awesome was Vader.

How awesome was Vader? Completely and Utterly Awesome. That's how awesome he was. I am a very happy fan.

 

I'll need some time to digest it all, but it might very well be the best SW movie since the OT, and the only one that actually feels naturally connected to the OT. It's a seamless fit, very impressive.

I came out the theatre feeling "Hmm out of 10", so I'm thinking it'll amount to 7-ish, or just slightly over. There were some pretty awesome things there, and it expanded Star Wars further, which I'm glad they are finally doing with the new canon, but this might require a few more runs to properly mull it over.

 

Seen it three times now, I'm settled on my score now 7.5 out of 10.

Not as good as TFA.
