Invitation

-Fellow Roleplayer,

You are cordially invited to the Role Playing Community's Second Annual Christmas / Winter Ball, located in the pristine country of the Non-Star Wars Role Playing Forum. Tis the season for good will and friendship among all posters; and the establishment thought the best way to foster this mood would be to bring back a favorite event from last year, namely the Holiday Ball. Mistletoe Plantation shall open promptly at the end of this invitation, and shall remain open until mid-January. Because this game is starting later than last year's one, it will close a little later as well. Users are encouraged to come as themselves, but the shy among us may certainly play as one of their favorite characters. Dress to impress, No RSVPs required. Users are encouraged to find dates for the ball if they can find them, but everyone is invited, date or no. Users are welcome bring food for our community Potluck feast, or presents for any of the users in attendance.

Mistletoe Plantation

Mistletoe Plantation is a cozy 18th Century country-house, complete with hard-wood floors, stone fireplaces, leather couches, and bedecked with the trappings of Christmas. The pictures above can give you an idea of how the plantation is supposed to look, as well as the following descriptions. For this game, the plantation will be limited to the following areas:

The Antechamber: The entryway into the plantation. Here guests may hang up their coats, as well as hand off any of their packages or gifts to the plantation staff. A nice painting of a pastoral landscape hangs here

The Hallway: The hall between the three main rooms of Mistletoe Plantation. Its wooden chests and tables hold many garland decorations, complete with lights and balls. More country paintings hang here along the wooden walls.

Wilderness Hall: The large and only room on the right side of the Hallway (coming from the Foyer), the Wilderness Hall is an expansive chamber, with a large Christmas Tree on one side and ornate, painted wooden ceilings above. Striking a strangely royal tone for the homely mansion, the dark wooden floors are covered in fine red carpet. Why Old Man Mistletoe added such a room to his ranch is still a mystery. In one corner of the room, a country band is present and chairs are scattered intermittently to allow for the weary to rest and enjoy the music. The middle picture depicts this room.

The Dining Room: Behind the first door on the left side of the hallway, a large circular table sits, laden with country holiday treats. Puddings, pitchers of eggnog, milks, and coffees, hills of sugarplums and candies, a chocolate fondue fountain, and virtually anything you can think of with a Holiday theme is present. Around the table sits many other smaller tables, as well as a fireplace. The right picture depicts this room.

The Parlor: Behind the second door on the right side of the hallway lies a cozy lounge. Above its entry, a bough of mistletoe hangs for any holiday hopefuls. The room itself has a large Christmas tree, with big white couches in its middle to help create a communal setting. The thick rugs and soft lamp lighting create a very warm room to share discussions in. The left picture depicts this room.

The Antechamber

Sephy ignored the droid's complaints. The reddish brown protocol droid was only here because it had so annoyed it last Christmas to be brought along as a glorified mechanical butler.

The youg man removed a dirty, possibly somewhat moth-eaten, wool cap from his long -but not quite as long as it was before his haircut the day after Thanksgivig- unkempt brown hair, stuck it in the pocket of his fleece coat, and handed both coat and jacket to the annoyed droid, smiling as the narration in his head rhymed.

Not seeing anyone else yet, he rolled up the sleeves of his dress-casual shirt, and went in search of a glass of eggnog. The good kind. You know what that entails.

Location: Mistletoe Plantation

The clip-clop of the horses sounded through the snowy fields outside the manor as a carriage approached, carrying one Imperial_Hammer. Dressed in a top-hat and coat, period appropriate of course, he could see that the lights were all on inside Mistletoe plantation, and judging from a plume of smoke from one chimney, at least a fire was lit somewhere. Hammer kicked himself again and again for forgetting about reserving a venue for the holiday ball until so late! Had he needed Kringle Castle again, well, he would have been flat out of luck. That place had been booked solid since Thanksgiving.

The carriage halted in front of the doorway, and Hammer departed. He thanked the driver, gave him a tip, and went on inside, out of the cold. As he hung his coat up in the antechamber, the first thing that struck his nose was the smell of gingerbread. This was a much smaller venue than the castle, so the smells were captured and trapped far more easily. It was certainly very rustic, a style Hammer personally enjoyed quite a bit.

Judging from... was that a cap? .... on the wall, someone else had arrived before him! Hammer set out down the Hallway to bump into this mysterious guest.

IC: Nick disguised as Saint Nicholas
Antechamber

Saint Nicholas emerged into the Antechamber of Misletoe Plantation to find Sephy leaving it. Just behind him was Impy. Saint Nicholas ho-ho-hoed out a chuckle and tip-hopped after them. He hoisted his large 'toy' bag over his shoulder as he entered the hallway behind the Hammer. With a burst of pure holiday joy, Saint Nick busted out a jingle.

"Guess who's here? What a day. It's jolly Saint Nick, and he's here to play."

Mistletoe Plantation

Bundled in a cream colored coat, and a fuzzy cream hat. Her light blue gloves and scarf fit in nicely with the glow of the night as she lightly stepped out of the limo that pulled up to the beautiful mansion. An usher dressed in a suit met her at the bottom of the stairs and offered her an arm. She let him help her up the stairs so she didn't fall.

Once inside the mansion she took off her gloves, scarf, hat, and coat revealing an elegant light blue sparkley dress. The lights bounced off the dress and shimmered as she moved about the room. Her hair was a mound of curls, pulled back to shape her glowing face. Her heels sounded on the floor as she walked into the next room looking for people.

Antechamber

Not long after the previous guest's arrival, a black helicopter dropped off the next in the long line of guests that was sure to arrive.

Stepping through the front door, the latest arrival surveyed his surroundings. Giving them a quick nod of approval, he removed his cloak and went to hang it from the nearest cloak rack. Not finding one, he hung it from the coat rack instead.

Pausing briefly in front of the mirror to make sure that his black suit was spotless and his glasses were positioned correctly, he continued on inside in search of a quiet place to read and continue writing his latest story.

Location: The Antechamber

Dressed all in black looking like a cross between a glorified pirate and an Outer rim Marshal, Max walked up the steps, his ankle length long hair held back in a ponytail gently swaying with his black cape. He was dressed in a red silken shirt, that revealed part of his chest, the dark hairs there vibrant against the pale white of his skin. His black trousers, had a low slung revolver resting against his side, that was ornately designed with silver knotwork. His black boots clicked against the floor as he walked into the Antechamber. The silver knotwork of the black leather belt and holster, as well as the silver chain that led to the pocket opposite his revolver, stood out against the black and red of the rest of his outfit. With his blue eyes full of gentle flames Max followed the few other guests in....

IC: PulsarSkate, playing as herself aka Jessica

There was a screech of tires on carefully shovelled asphalt and a yelled curse. "Yeah, keep the change! I didn't want that $20 anyway!" came the sarcastic barrage from the oddly dressed woman left in the taxi's wake. She shook a leather-gloved fist at the disappearing taillights, then took a calming breath. She was here for fun, not to share her perpetual crankiness with the party guests. Sure, she had no date and sure, the cab driver had almost killed her twice on the way up the driveway (how they managed to drive on the wrong side of the road without freaking out she just didn't know) and sure she'd had to haul enough french wine from the duty free shop to the backcrountry Mistletoe Plantation to drown a small army...but Jessica was determined. This would be a good night or so help her, she'd give up these damn international parties the flick and spent next Christmas at the beach!

As the chill began to settle onto her flushed cheeks, the ginger-haired woman looked down at her outfit and sighed again. She'd done away with the customary black and was hoping people wouldn't be too surprised. Only problem being her army boots had been the only available shoes.

"Ah well, time to face the merriment!" she said to herself, hoisting her bag to her shoulder and tramping her way up to the front door, where she was met by a bemused looking gentleman. He took her heavy woolen peacoat and the bag of wine bottles with good grace and showed Jessica into the main corridor, giving her directions to each part of the house. She caught sight of other guests - suited men, a droid, a beauty in a blue dress, a pirate and was that Santa? - but not knowing them well enough to jump into a conversation just yet, she instead moved directly to the food, not passing go and wishing she $200.

Surveying the table, she found what she was looking for and poured herself a generous glass of eggnog.

"Merry Christmas." she muttered to the assembling guests and began to drink.

IC: Yuul Shamar

The young man walked up the stairs onto the porch and took a good look at the plantation house. It was really a nice looking home and was probally a nice place to live. He continued up to the door and upon entering hung his overcoat, scarf, gloves, and hat on the various hooks. It was very obvious to him he was not the first person here but would certainly not be the last.

He was dressed in a black tuxedo which was unbottoned revealing a deep blue vest with a matching waist sash that wrapped around with the loose part hanging down on his left side. His pants matched the the coat, being the same shade of black. The black dress shoes gleamed in that just cleaned way as he walked into the light from the lamps set about. He picked up an iced cookie as he continued into the hallway.

Mistletoe Plantation, The Antechamber

Oh, how she loved this time of the year. As she walked up the winding walkway, she blew a small stream of air from her lips. She smiled, watching the crisp air instantly cool the warm breath, leaving a small cloud of vapor in its wake.

From here, she could hear the joyous music and as she looked around, she could tell that several other visitors had already arrived. She snuggled tightly in the coat she was wearing. She was ready for her first cup of eggnog. She hoped she would meet up with others and enjoy their company during the celibrations.

As she made her way up to the door, the door opened automatically. Smiling, she crossed the doorway, stamping her feet, to remove any frost from her shoes. She smiled, as she took off her coat, and handed it off to the person hanging up the coats. A small bundle of packages, she handed to them as well, homebacked goodies she had made in thanks of being invited once more to such a wonderful affair. After she took off her coat, she looked around smiling, as she smooved out her dress. She wore a deep wine colored dress, floor length, which while the front was modest, the back plunged down the back. As was her want on such occasions, she wore a deep red rose pinned to her hair, she had pulled back, but left handgng down. She looked at herself in the mirror, smoothing down her dress, and making sure the cold had not messed up her clothing. Once she was satisfied, she stepped out into the hallway to see who was here.

Just as she thought she saw imperial Hammer, she heard a voice boom out, "Guess who's here? What a day. It's jolly Saint Nick, and he's here to play." Ktala chuckled softly. A few other ladies were here, and she played 'compare dressess' while she walked in. She heard one of them mutter "Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas to you too!" Ktala responded to the call, as she walked over to pour herself some eggnog. So far, the place looked lovely. She hoped the music was good.

IC: Jedi_Allegra/Kartsgurl playing herself! Elora! -- Antechamber Entrance

Elora waited patiently to get out of the special occasion Rolls Royce that Mark had rented for the evening. Over the course of travel time that it took for them to get from from her and Mark's apartment Elora had reminded herself that the driver was there for their convenience and that she was not to open the car door herself. She prayed so hard that she would not forget.

After what seemed like hours the door finally opened and Elora waited for Mark to exit the car to her surprise he straightened his coat, and stood up straight offering a his hand to her. Setting her hand gently within his she emerged from the car gazing in awe upon the beautiful Plantation. The Christmas lights that adorned the house sparkled in her eyes, when she caught herself gaping in awe she looked at Mark and smiled sweetly and whispered a small thank you and moved out of the way so her brother, Alex, could get out of the car.

As soon as he did, Elora slipped her arm through her brother's so he wouldn't be alone as Mark gracefully turned his hand tucking her hand through his arm and patted it softly as he let it find a home. She smiled and then looked at her brother.

"Ready?"

Location: Mistletoe Plantation

I_H entered the Dining Room to find Sephyclone and his favorite droid, W-3P0. How pleasant that they had arrived! Before he entered the room, he heard the front door open, and saw Santa Claus entering the hall. Hammer couldn't help but to smile. *Someone* was feeling creative this evening. He gave a wave and hollered...

"Hey hey! Welcome Mr. Claus to our little shindig! Come on in, we're in the dining room!"

Hammer turned his attention toward the room and the generous amounts of food on the main table. He snapped off a piece of gingerbread from the nearest man and walked over to Sephy...

"Hey there Sephy, Dub. How you all doing? Nice to be seeing you again! How has the year been for you all?"

He could hear more people entering the manor. Soon a gaggle of ladies found their way into the Dining Room. Sey, Skate, and Ktala, looking positively lovely in their dresses, chatted lightly amongst themselves while enjoying the sweets on the table.

Hammer turned to issue a short bow to them all...

"Ladies," he said with a big grin. "Thanks for coming! How are you gals this evening?"

IC Kartanym - As played by Kartanym

He couldn't recall the last time he had attended such a lavish occasion, especially for the holiday season. The family Christmas party was the only thing that came close, but that normally involved casual clothes and a barbie out back near the pool. It was nice, then, to get all dressed up for once.

Fixing the fairly expensive white tuxedo coat, as loaned from the James Bond set ... and when he says 'loaned' he actually means 'stolen from' ... he held out a hand to his darling love who, like a princess in a fairy tale, smiled back with a star in her eyes as she stood next to him.

"Now remember," he said as Elora and Alex chuckled next to him, "If there's any chocolate cake, leave it to me. God knows what they may have put in it..."

The two by his side gave Kart a strange look, to which he grinned in reply. "Expect more bad jokes like that as the night continues."

~Mistletoe Plantation - Antechamber~

darth_nemisis, known simply by Nemisis, Nemmy, or Nem, arrived a little late. Or so he thought. When he arrived, lavishly in his brand new vehicle, he noticed that there were not as many people as he had expected there to be. As always, Imperial_Hammer was here, and so were many other regulars Nemisis so often saw.

One individual caught his attention: Ktala. She was a very respectful figure around these parts, and an individual Nemisis thought of as a friend. As he handed his coat to the usher, receiving a jolly grin from the usher, Nemisis hesitated whether or not to approach Ktala. It had been a long time since they had conversed. It had been a long time since Nemisis had conversed with anyone around here actually. Over the past couple months, Nemisis had decided to go pursue a higher education, one that would land him a great job which would, hopefully, help him overtake the planet. Perhaps he aimed a bit too high, but there was no problem in dreaming.

Right as Nemisis was about to approach, IH approached. Nemisis smiled. Another old friend that he would be able to talk to, one that he respected as much as anyone around here.

"Why hello there," he said, speaking to Ktala and IH. "It has been too long."

Kahn straightned his coat a little bit with his free arm and look oddly at the one Elora had taken. "Ready as I can be I guess. Atleast I'm sure its warmer inside the house than here." He looked over the magnificently adorned structure. Sparlkling lights in lovely designs. "Someone has an eye for Detail I think." He shivered slightly. "I hope they have Hot Cocoa in there."

"You look fine, my dear brother. If anything I should be worried. After all I am wearing a dress that Mark borrowed from the Casino Royale movie. Yes. The very one Eva Green wore as Vesper Lynd." She straightened her brother's bow tie and brushed some lint off his coat and smiled brightly.

"And you, my dear," Elora leaned in close to her dashing partner, "Look, very nice if I do say so myself." Her brandy eyes played out the smile that adorned her lips as they made it (carefully for Elora) up the stairs and into the entrance hall where staff awaited with open arms.

Undoing the jeweled clip of her shoulder cape, Elora let it slide from her shoulders, only to be taken by her partner whom handed it to the staff. Her dress, was a little far fetched for her taste, yet it had begun to grow on her. The black evening gown actually reached the floor in which she was glowing about that fact. Upon her neck the Algerian Love Knot graced her pale skin and complimented her attire quite nicely. She smoothed her dress out then turned and helped Mark from his coat then gently took his arm once more.

"You look..." Kart was speechless as he took his partners arm once more, smiling.

A number of familiar faces adorned the hall, while a number of others he noted would have to be introduced to him at some point.

"Anyone need a drink?" he asked.

Lowering her head Elora attempted to hide a small blush. "Thank you." She whispered and reached to plant a soft kiss upon his cheek.

"Anyone need a drink?" He asked her and her brother.

"What are you having, my dear?" She asked unsure of what she fancied for the evening. Turning to her brother she looked for a response, yet he already had his eye on the dance floor. It looked as if he was searching for someone he knew.

"Lovely is the word he appears to be looking for." Kahn said finishing Kart's statment with it was obvious he was otherwise speechless. He removed his coat revealing his deep blue suit with white pin-stripes. He adjusted his tie, Elora had tightned it just a tad to much. "And yes I'd love a drink, something warm would be very nice." His eyes scanned the connecting area, like his sister thought, he was infact looking for people he knew.

Leaving Antechambers for Dining Room, Mistletoe Plantation

As Ktala came up near the other ladies, she reached over and poured herself an eggnog. The place was done up quite wonderfully this year. Even the 'santa' at the door was a welcome site.

As She looked around for familiar faces, she heard a voice that she recognized.

Imperial_Hammer. Hammer turned to issue a short bow to them all. "Ladies," he said with a big grin. "Thanks for coming! How are you gals this evening?"

Ktala smiled. "Much better now. Thank you sooo much for hosting another Christmas Ball. We have missed you of late, I was wondering if we were going to have one this year or not." She smiled, as she offered him a slice of tasty looking cake nearby. She chuckled softly, as she saw even more guests arriving behind him. "This is really great. It looks like we're going to have a grand ball this time. I DO hope the music is good." she smiled, eyes twinkling in anticipation.

Another voice caught her attentions now. A noice she had not heard in many long months, catching her offguard.

"Why hello there," he said, speaking to Ktala and IH. "It has been too long." Ktala turned, and saw darth_Nemisis standing there.

"NEMI!!" she called out, as she went over to give him a long overdue hug. "Oh my, it has been awhile since last we spoke. It is SOO GOOD that you could come and attend this little shinding." She smiled, as she handed him a drink. "So, tell us, what have you been up to? It has been so quiet here lately. Im looking forward to meeting up with old friends..."

Ktala was quite happy now, as she settled in to speak with friends long out of touch. She hoped that perhaps, Sainheart, GreyJedi, LightSide_Apprentice, DarthXan, and a few other old friends stopped by as well. She took a sip from her eggnog, as she listened to the conversation around her.

The Antechamber

Xan, or Xany as she was called by some, walked leisurely up to the antechamber, silently enjoying the view. Having missed the last Christmas Ball, she hadn't been to Mistletoe Plantation before, but it was as beautiful as she'd heard. And she had always loved winter - well, rather, she always loved snow. The subzero temperature she could have done without.

Once inside the warm antechamber, Xan gratefully shrugged off her coat and gloves and shook snow off her boots. Normally she would have rocked up in jeans, but today she was wearing a blue top that shimmered as she moved and a long black skirt. Less comfy, perhaps, but in her usual attire she would have stuck out like an unfestive sore thumb.

Snagging an eggnog from a passing waiter, Xan scanned the crowd for familiar faces. Most she didn't recognise, but then -

"NEM!" a familiar voice rang out. Xan turned to see Ktala give darth_nemisis an enthusiastic hug. Near those two was Imperial_Hammer. Grinning widely, Xan made her way over to her old friends.

"Merry Christmas!" Xan greeted the three of them happily. "How have you guys been? It's been a while!"

~Antechamber - Mistletoe Plantation~

"NEMI!!" Nemisis was taken aback by the scream that Ktala let out. He felt his face turn red as she gave him an enthusiastic hug. He smiled in an attempt to cover his blush, and returned the hug. "Oh my, it has been awhile since last we spoke. It is SOO GOOD that you could come and attend this little shinding." She smiled and handed Nem a drink. He looked at the contents. It was eggnog. He was never really a fan of eggnog, but it was Christmas time, so he decided he would take a sip. To his surprise, it was not too bad at all. He took another drink and listened to Ktala as she spoke. "So, tell us, what have you been up to? It has been so quiet here lately. Im looking forward to meeting up with old friends..."

He considered his next words. "Well, I've been rather busy, which could explain my rather long break from this place." He smiled. "I'm definitely glad to be back! And what better time to come back than Christmas time!?"

"Merry Christmas!" came a voice from behind. Nem turned to look at the source of the voice. He gave a wide smile at the person who had entered. Xan greeted Nem, Ktala and IH. "How have you guys been? It's been a while!"

"It has been too long," Nemisis replied. "I have been good, busy, but good. How about yourself?"

Ktala almost purred as she watched Nemisis reaction to her somewhat enthusastic call. His face turned red as she gave him an enthusiastic hug. He smiled in an attempt to cover his blush, and returned the hug.

It reminded her why she loved these little socials so. "So, tell us, what have you been up to? It has been so quiet here lately. Im looking forward to meeting up with old friends..."

He spoke up after a few moments. "Well, I've been rather busy, which could explain my rather long break from this place." He smiled. "I'm definitely glad to be back! And what better time to come back than Christmas time!?"

"Indeed." Ktala answered in response. "Merry Christmas!" came a voice from behind. They both turned to look at who had just called to them. DarthXan walked up, greeting Nem, Ktala and IH. "How have you guys been? It's been a while!"

"It has been too long," Nemisis replied. "I have been good, busy, but good. How about yourself?" Ktala chuckled softly, still laughing at Nemisis response. "Oh, Ive veen good. Nice to see some of us 'old timers' showing up. I now have someone I can sit back, and talk about the 'good old days' now." Ktala stated with a laugh. Ktala began to search the tables for other goodies to dig into . The chocolate fountain was begining to look good also.

"Ah Hammer, always a pleasure. Wouldn't miss it for the world." she replied, after swallowing a big mouthful of eggnog. This stuff was certainly growing on her. "You really do know how to bring out the best in the RP set. I feel all nowheresville compared to the ladies present. The guys ain't half bad either." she continued, with a grin. As the rest of the group peeled off to meet their friends, Jessica finally noticed people she actually knew by more than just reputation.

"Hey Mark! Elora!" she yelled across the room rambunctiously, before skipping in a clomping-army-boot-way towards them. "Didn't know you were coming!"

Dining Room - I think. I may have gotten confused

Xan choked down a giggle upon seeing Nem turn bright red. Ah, it was good to be back.

"It has been too long," Nemisis replied. "I have been good, busy, but good. How about yourself?"

Ktala was still chuckling softly. "Oh, I've been good. Nice to see some of us 'old timers' showing up. I now have someone I can sit back, and talk about the 'good old days' now."

"For sure," Xan said with a grin, clinking her glass against the ones her friends were holding and strolling along with them to the table of goodies. "Not to mention I know barely any of the new crowd - it would have been quite awkward to walk in and have nobody to talk to." The young woman thought she recognized a few other partygoers from Jocasta Nu's or Hooper's - no idea about the guy in the Santa outfit, though - but she'd not really talked to any of them. Bit of a depressing thought, actually. Maybe tonight she would.

In the meantime, though, she followed Ktala's line of sight and saw -

"Ooh, a chocolate fountain!" Xan brightened instantly. It was humongous, too. "Be right back." She circled the table until she could reach the fountain, dipped a strawberry in chocolate and bit into it. As she did so, it did occur to her that she was probably one of the most distractable people on the planet, especially when chocolate was involved, but - mmm, chocolate-covered strawberry.
