Ohhh, I was too fast when I saw it and have already voted for a Padmé figure. If we want to have a decision from here I'm all for an Eirtaé icon.

Happy Holidays to you all! I'm on my way to my parents and their internet connection isn't working. If I can't fix it I'll be completely offline the next 10 days. :)

Ho Ho Ho, Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas, boys and girls! :)

Just thought you'd like to know that our girl Keira comes in at #40 in USAToday.com's Pop Candy blog list of 100 people of 2005. Natalie came in at #51. Yoda came in at #50!

Happy Holidays! I would include all the holidays but I thought I would just make it all inclusive in the off chance I missed anyone's celebration of choice. Makes me wonder what they have in the Star Wars universe.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!!

Merry Belated Christmas, everyone! And Happy New Year's!

Sorry I've been gone so long!

    let's see...
The Chronicles book looks neat. May have to track one down...Then again, Andé, did you decide on one yet? :~)

Queen Kylantha was put on the throne by the Empire, thought to be more "loyal" than her predeccessor, who we now know was killed by the 501st (right?) for harboring Jedi. HOWEVER, one of the Emperor's Retreat quests requires you to escort one of the Queen's handmaidens back to the Emperor's retreat for questioning due to some uncertainty about the loyalty of the Queen/court. Unfortunately, some people found that it was possible to kill/allow the handmaiden to be killed and still finish the quest sucessfully. BUT, the brave little handmaiden would still get into a kneel/attack position and fire away at her attackers until she was overcome.
(Additionally-unfortunately, whoever picked the NPC for Kylantha has NO sense of what Naboo queens had looked like, and mader her about 6 feet tall, and a larger blonde. /sigh) From the Unofficial SW Encyclopedia linked through TFN,
    Kylantha:
this woman was the Queen of Naboo during the height of the Galactic Civil War. Although she was outwardly loyal to the Empire, she refused to dissolve the Naboo Royal Advisory Council. She also failed to implement any of the sweeping changes to Naboo's democratic government often associated with Imperial doctrine, which led many - including Inquisitor Loam Redge - to believe she harbored some support for the Alliance.

FIDM was awesome. We saw several places on the gowns that could definitely be locations to hide weapons/conceal recording devices, etc....who knows? Those gals in the Throne Room scene could have had blasters AND touch up make up in the pouches in the sleeves! Interesting observation: Once her Padmé-ness became a senator, the handmaiden gowns were adorned with the Senatorial crest rather than the Naboo crest. (Note: Both of these observations are courtesy of the keen mind and eyesight of our own Andé!)

New thread thought: Wow. It's time. But before this thread sails away to oblivion, let's absolutely make sure we archive/save it. I don'w want to lose any of the wonderful info/discussion we've had here, as we have lost so much of the original threads before this one.

Dressing a Galaxy rocks. Unfortunately, with a destructive and active 20 month old around, it doesn't come out much!

We need to start a mission to make sure handmaidens appear in the SW TV show(s) in one form or another. Besides...we know the handmaidens knew of Padmé's pregnancy. Wouldn't they be a source of some costernation/worry for the Empire? OR (for those of you who are reading the Queen's Nest or whatever the current post-NJO books are called), wouldn't a former handmaiden make a GREAT source of info for Luke or Leia to find out more about their mother?

Off to get ready for other things to do today.....back sometime soon!

    Happy New Year to all!

And GentleBant I agree. The handmaidens need to be in it more! They get so little recognition. They should get their own novel, or something!

Gah! If only fanfic writers had Lucas' favor enough to get published! We could swarm the stacks with handmaiden literature!

Hello, everybody I'm back on the boards again. Happy new year to all of you!

About the possibility of Luke and Leia meeting a former handmaiden: I still think it's quite possible that Luke and Leia will make a trip to Naboo. Here comes some small spoilers about the Dark Nest TrilogyIn the Dark Nest trilogy they have managed to identify their mother as Senator Amidala of Naboo, and it would definetly be strange if they just left it at that. Haven't gotten my hands of the final book yet though, but from what I've heard they have managed to open up all of Artoo's memories, wich means a lot of prequel info.

Ohhh, I have not read those series, Obi Anne, but now that you have mentioned some of those things, I guess a visit to the bookstore is in order.

And I would love for them to meet a handmaiden. Any of them, but especially Dorme or Sabe.

Sad, sad, Dark Lard: The Rise of Darth Vader had no handmaiden references that I could find, though it did have a short scene w/ one of Breha's female attendants. Is a cameo really too much to ask for? Really...
