The RPF Revolution: Creativity through Chaos

Last year, we trialled the Strength through Similarity community initiative, where the moderating team attempted to enforce equality, consolidate socialization, and implement highly streamlined systems for roleplaying on the JC.

    That was a failure.

We now acknowledge that true creativity cannot be stifled and stuffed into regulation-sized boxes. True creativity needs room to spread its wings, space to try wacky things, and most importantly it needs to not be hampered by silly rules and regulations that stifle its growth. The RPF is suffering from a death of creativity to over-regulation - this is a state of affairs that must be rectified.

To that end, we are implementing the following policies, effective immediately:[ol]
[li]There will no longer be any distinction between GMs and RPers. We are all the same, united in our quest for creativity.[/li]
[li]Character Sheets will no longer be used. No true character can be reduced to a clinical series of entries in a list, or a mere series of numerical attributes. Players are encouraged to post pictures, videos, and/or detailed descriptions instead to fully describe their characters in as creative a manner as possible. Existing games will be 'grandfathered in' under this rule, but no games are allowed to use CSs from now on.[/li]
[li]Rules are no longer necessary for the running of a RPG. Sadly, everyone will still have to abide by the greater JC rules, but we are confident that this change will greatly improve the growth of creativity in roleplaying.[/li]
[li]We will no longer make a distinction between Star Wars Role Playing, Non Star Wars Role Playing, and Resource. It is not within our power to break down barriers between them and consolidate them into one mega Role Playing Forum; instead, we will alphabetize. All active threads beginning with A-I will be moved to forum, all beginning with J-R to another, and all beginning with S-Z to the last forum. The forums will also be renamed and re-bannered to reflect this fact.[/li]

    Implementation is complete.

Those links on top will be fixed once an admin breezes through. We anticipate it will be within the next 48 hours.

On the other hand... *plants a chair in the middle*

Chaos provides growth while order provides limitations. But without the other, they get out of control. Chaos causes things to fall apart, and order suffocates growth, causing everything to die. You cannot have one without the other, otherwise things would simply spiral out of control. So for the duration of this conveniently timed policy change. *sits* I sit on the point of balance and harmony.

Nah, by causing more chaos we create a more stable system. That's basic thermodynamics, right there.

The thoughts of the great philosopher, Zorg, are relevant here:

EDIT: And rather ironically, since RPGs are now in alphabetical order, A Tide of Flames is actually easier to find now. Thank you, Chaos!

Have to agree with the DarkOverlord, division helped me avoid all those Non-Star Wars RPs. Though the thought is good, and survivable if but for one thing...I want my resources easier to reference:_|

That and I forget names too easily to know where any of my games are[face_blush]

I would be more impressed if you could find a way to keep the threads alphabetical within their respective forums. I was just in the A-I forum and there's an H thread at the top. Cs and Gs are mixed in with the As. Sloppy, sloppy.

Sloppy? It's clearly a subtle effort to inject slightly more chaos into the system. VIVA ENTROPY!

I start playing Bioshock 2 and the mods come over all Andrew Ryan on me? (Rules stifle creativity, indeed) Clearly there is only one course of action.
