"We must move quickly. The Jedi are relentless. If they are not all destroyed, it will be civil war without end."
    ~ Palpatine

The mission was clear. Eradicate the galaxy of any and all Jedi threats to make way for the new Empire's dominion. Order 66, it was called. Under Emperor Palpatine's instruction and Darth Vader's command, the enemy would stand no chance against the Empire's might. And, for the most part, they did not. The Jedi were soon to become an extinct people, their ways destined to fall deep into the pages of history.

    Almost.

We've all heard the story. The exiles of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi, the ascension of Luke Skywalker, the redemption of Darth Vader and the destruction of the Empire. But this is a story most of the galaxy has never heard. A story of tragedy and hope, of bravery and heroism from an unlikely group of children. A story of young Jedi, desperate to escape the clutches of the Empire's fist. This is the story of...

  2. The Setting

  3. The Jedi Purge is in full force. Under the direct orders of Emperor Palpatine, every clone trooper in the galaxy is now relentlessly hunting down the last of the Jedi threat under the supervision of Darth Vader using any and all means necessary. Even notorious assassins and bounty hunters have been summoned to assist in this effort, and much blood has been spilled. Most of the targets have been accounted for... with the exception of a select few...

  4. The Characters

  5. You will be playing as one of seven Jedi padawans and apprentices on the run from the Empire during these dark times. Their ages range from 12 to 20 years, and their experience with the Force, while formidable in certain instances, is small. They will encounter situations and challenges that will put their emotions and wills to the test, and it's up to you to determine their actions and discover their destinies.

  8. The Rules

  9. 1) The RPF Rules, JCF Rules, and ToS are to be obeyed at all times.

    2) Any form of godmoding, autohitting, etc. is prohibited unless otherwise stated by the GM.

    3) As previously stated, The Runaways centers around the tale of only seven Padawans/Apprentices, and therefore only seven spots are open for this game. If I get less than seven sheets, the remaining children will simply be NPCs. If I get more than seven sheets, I will be forced to choose the seven I believe will best accommodate the progression of the RPG. Only one character is allowed per player due to this restriction, and as usual, character sheets must be PMed to myself for approval.

-Miscellaneous: Obviously, Tal has taken to living without his Jedi robes. More often than not, he dresses like a tramp, blending in. He wears the crystal of his lightsaber about his neck, and its parts secreted about his person as jewelry and scrap.
    Personality:
-Traits/Habits: Tal tends to be introspective and a bit downtrodden, the sort of youngling whose natural look of repose often caused others to think something was bothering him. He is soft spoken, but quick to smile if it will set others at ease about him. He helps who he can in what small ways he's able. (It's possible he's taken younger, weaker former-padawans under his wing to protect them, help them get on their feet.)

-Strengths: Tal cares about others, and is protective of them. He seeks harmony always.

GM OOC: And that's it! All seven spots have been filled, and I have to say that was much quicker than I'd anticipated. For those who sent in sheets that I was unable to approve, thank you very much for your interest and there may be a role for you to play yet (more on that in a bit). To those of you on board, welcome! I'll let the remaining player post her sheet and will then post further details on when we'll be getting started. :)

Also, though the cap of seven Jedi padawans/apprentices has been reached, the plot may call for more player controlled characters further down the line. So please, if you were unable to get a sheet to me in time, be on the lookout for notifications in the thread title and/or the Resource forum for new players! :)

"You have done well, my new apprentice. Your skills are unmatched by any Sith before you. Now, Lord Vader, go and bring peace to the Empire."
    ~ Palpatine

    Prelude

    Calen Sirion, Shada Telon
    En route to Endor

"This mission is what they call a blue milk run, kids," Jedi Master T'aren Phang told the two young Jedi seated behind him aboard his ship. The middle-aged Cathar, whose visage resembled that of a wild animal with ears pointed high above the light brown fur that covered his body, reached above his head to the ceiling and adjusted the temperature controls in the cockpit a bit. "It seems one of our clone squadrons has found an abandoned Separatist base and they have summoned us to assist in the investigation of anything that may be of interest or use to the Republic."

Calen Sirion had been T'aren's Padawan for several years, and the Jedi Master had grown attached to the young boy from early on. He had an innocence about him that was a constant reminder for T'aren of the peace and good that could be found in the galaxy if one looked hard enough. They also brought along another young Jedi apprentice, Shada Telon, who was notorious among the Jedi for causing her peers to... lose focus in their tasks. T'aren silently chuckled at the thought.

"There it is there," T'aren pointed past the viewport where a distant planet could be seen coming into sight.

    [image=http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/4/4c/Endor_btm.jpg]

"Endor. It is a beautiful world. The clones should be picking up our signal in a bit, and then we'll be cleared to land in their vicinity." The Cathar Master turned around to face the pupils. The cockpit wasn't large but it was comfortable. Two chairs were sat at the front of the cockpit before the control panels, the left of which was occupied by the Jedi Master, and there were two more chairs behind those, each occupied by the two Jedi children. "Any questions or concerns before we head down?" T'aren asked his young companions with a comforting, furry smile.

The tranquil halls within the Jedi Temple were peaceful around this time of the evening. All of the young students had just finished their suppers and were off on their own until bedtime. Some would likely head to the library for some light reading or studying for their classes. Others may find themselves outside in the gardens among the smaller creatures and plant life of the world. Some may challenge one another to duels in the sparring rooms, and others would simply wander, either lost in their own thoughts or simply strolling away their boredom.

In any case, though, the Jedi Temple was at peace...

    For the time being.

    IC as Shada Telon

Shada sat on the edge of her seat in the shuttle, a large grin making itself known on her purple lips. A mission! She was without her master, but that would be okay. She could show him just how much she grew during the time he had been training her. And besides, it's not like we're entirely alone. If something goes wrong, at least Master T'aren will be there...but I doubt that! Her dark violet eyes danced over to Calen, holding her grin in place. "You ready for this?"

"This mission is what they call a blue milk run, kids," The Cathar master spoke up from the front of the cockpit. "It seems one of our clone squadrons has found an abandoned Separatist base and they have summoned us to assist in the investigation of anything that may be of interest or use to the Republic."

"You don't need to worry about us, Master T'aren." She laughed and eagerly looked out of the viewing port, seeing the planet of Endor grow larger. This wasn't her first mission, not by a long shot, but it was exciting every time she got the chance to do something as important as a mission. It also meant that all of her hard work during training would finally pay off and she would see just how much she improved in between missions.

"Endor. It is a beautiful world. The clones should be picking up our signal in a bit, and then we'll be cleared to land in their vicinity. Any questions or concerns before we head down?"

Shada leaned out to look at both the master and Calen. "I have one. So, all we're doing is investigating?" While she realized it wasn't right for a Jedi to hope for somewhat of a fight, she couldn't help it and she didn't want a fight in a bad way...if that made any difference. She really wanted to test her skills.

OOC: As this part is before the purge, Calen isn't afraid of the clones yet.
    IC: Calen Sirion
    En route to Endor

Calen had been T'aren Phang's apprentice for nearly five years now, two of which had been during that peaceful time before all the fighting. Calen didn't like fighting, even before the Clone Wars, as they were called, and he wasn't very good at it either. It was only through Master Phang's patient and steady hand that he reached a decent level of skill in deflection. The harsh sounds of battle with all its explosions and cries of the wounded and dying never did sit well with Calen. Nightmares had been a very common occurrence early in the war, and although they had lessened as the years of war stretched on, they still happened. For all of that though his master had never looked down on him for that and Calen was thankful.

Now they were heading out again, another mission involving the wars. He understood that the Jedi were stretched thin but he still longed for the peaceful missions he had his master had partaken in prior to this mess. Those had been times of peaceful learning, laughter, and joy. True, there had been dangers along the way, but never this constant state of war and destruction. Somewhere deep inside the young Jedi it simply hurt every time he heard, saw, or felt another violent death in a way he couldn't quite express with words.

    "You ready for this?"

Calen gave a nervous look out the view port before turning back to face Shada. "I hope I don't have to be."

"This mission is what they call a blue milk run, kids," began Jedi Master T'aren Phang "It seems one of our clone squadrons has found an abandoned Separatist base and they have summoned us to assist in the investigation of anything that may be of interest or use to the Republic."

"You don't need to worry about us, Master T'aren." Shada replied laughing.

Calen had seen other apprentices like this, indeed, most of them seemed to look forward to the chance to fight since the war began. He simply couldn't understand why.

"There it is there," T'aren pointed past the viewport where a distant planet could be seen coming into sight.

"Endor. It is a beautiful world. The clones should be picking up our signal in a bit, and then we'll be cleared to land in their vicinity. Any questions or concerns before we head down?"

"I have one. So, all we're doing is investigating?"

Calen squirmed in his seat a bit, he certainly hoped so.

"If it's abandoned, does that mean there won't be fighting Master?" Calen asked hopefully.

    {Raven Moon}

    - Refectory Rooftop -The Jedi Temple, Coruscant -

Raven just finished her dinner and now was ready to relax. The only problem was she couldn?t relax. She was very antsy. This was a common feeling for her. She could never keep still. She had to move around and be active. There was one thing that always calmed her. It was looking at the traffic that would come and go nearby or better yet. On a clear night she could look out and see the stars shining.

To be able to to see the stars or traffic, took skill. The kind of skill that was stealthy. See Raven would climb up on to the refectory rooftop when no one was looking. She had never gotten caught. She prided herself on her ability to keep out of sight and slip out without the Masters finding out.

It was a nice night tonight and Raven carefully climbed using the small crevices of the building to grasp. It was much like climbing a mountain. She had finally reached the top. She wasn?t able to see the stars cause there were a few clouds. Still it was beautiful. It made her relax like nothing else ever did.

She thought about her old Master, who had been killed recently. She was at the temple, while her master was away fighting in the war with the separatists. Now she was awaiting to be reassigned to a new master.

She really didn?t know how to feel. It hurt her yes, but she was taught not to feel sadness. Master Yoda told her that the her master is within the force and that when she uses it, the force comes full circle.

Whatever that meant. Master Yoda never did make speak normal basic. She was always left confused because everything he said was like a riddle. She hated riddles.

She loved the temple area of Coruscant. It was one of the few areas on the planet that was less congested with traffic. Therefore it allowed her to enjoy the scenery. She closed her eyes taking in a small breeze that brushed her skin. Her long brown hair lightly blowing in and out of her face. Her mind was clear for a change. If her master could only see her now. She would be proud of her.

She hadn?t meant to try and meditate. Though it was not one of her strengths. Being up here alone relaxing was her refuge from the noisy atmosphere of her fellow padawans strolling around the temple. To Raven this was the best place in the entire temple and it was all hers.

    Tal Froog

Having finished his dinner, Tal stood and made his way alone from the cafeteria. Nodding occasionally at familiar faces as he passed them, Tal made his way to the library. He wasn't sure where his master was, at the moment, but he was not in a mood to be social. This solitude suited him just fine. He'd considered lightsaber practice, but he'd sparred plenty this week. For now he wished to read, to let the histories wash over him, to let stories of heroes distract him from how ineffectual he felt and from the pangs they all felt when a Jedi died somewhere far away amidst the stars.

Jo Bindel's chest heaved. Sweat glistened on his orange skinned as he weaved intricate patterns with his silver lightsaber. The evening air was cool against his tattooed chest. He had forgone the normal Jedi robes and was wearing a simple pair of training shorts.

While Mace Windu was not his Master, the powerful Jedi had acquiesced to Jo's request for lightsaber training. Whenever Master Windu was on Coruscant, they would work on his Vaapad technique before the evening meal.

Jo Bindel had been working on his form for the better part of two hours, leaving the evening meal early. Vaapad was notoriously hard to master, with only two Jedi mastering it. Jo was far from mastering it but it was an end he was going to reach.

He finally closed down his lightsaber and slid it into one of his deep pockets. He walked over to the balcony and stepped up onto the railing, his feet hanging half way over the edge. He raised his arms, feeling another cool breeze on his tattooed chest.

    Jedi Temple gardens

The gardens of the Jedi temple always looked amazing this time of year. Clusters of colour and a myriad of scents filled the outdoor garden quad. Within a small patch of wild-flowers, a young padawan sat cross legged on the grass, a look of concentration on her face as she referenced the species on a data pad. Torah Vellah smiled. They had been grown from a single cutting, brought in from off-world. Tended lovingly by the temple groundskeepers and with a little help from the force, they had adapted well, even in Coruscant?s environment. Traffic around the temple was far less than anywhere else on the city covered planet, but there was still pollution and green spaces were rarer than legs on a Hutt. That?s why she liked it out here. She took one of the delicate blooms between her fingers. Her master would have loved to have seen these.

But he was not here. He had been summoned to the planet Felucia in order to help with the war effort there. According to her studies that planet had some of the most weird and wonderful plant and animal life anyone had ever seen., but it was also one of the most dangerous worlds to be in during the war. Communications from Felucia were scarce but she heard bits and pieces, rumours and hearsay on occasion as she wandered the temple halls. She let out a quiet sigh, she had begged to accompany him to Felucia but the decision was made that she remain at the temple. Many other padawans were lacking masters, either because they too had been left behind or their masters had fallen in battle. The apprentices supported one another as best they could. She would often put on a brave face, but secretly she feared for her master.

A cool breeze was picking up now, it whipped strands of her ice blonde hair about her face. The nights were often cold here. A chill ran through her and the back of her throat started to feel sore and scratchy. She coughed a few times, putting a hand up to cover her mouth while she pulled her robe around her tighter with the other. Gathering her data pad and a few samples and cuttings she had collected, she went back into the sheltered warmth of the Jedi temple.

    -Jedi Temple, Coruscant

He walked out of the dining hall, hands in his pockets and head hung back as he looked at the vastness of the inside of the temple. There were times he couldn't believe he was Jedi and that he was here, then there were times when he would rather be outside and in the normal world. Architecture was not his specialty, nor was he particularly interested in it, but he could appreciate when something looked good and that a good deal of work had went into it. The Jedi Temple was something that looked real good.

The Temple's lights were dimmed now, so he was headed for the stairs to go to his room when he saw Tory Bella, or something like that, scurrying into the temple. He waved at her before he had thought better of it. She was always in the gardens whenever he saw her and she was frail, anyone could see that. He had trouble figuring out why the Jedi would choose someone like her, who was weak and sick, to be the next generation of knights. Momo had seen a lot of battles and had built up his combat experience over the course of the war, not to mention hearing the hero stories of Anakin. That's what he considered Jedi. Warriors, not herbalists. He had been reprimanded by his Master for thinking that way and was told that the expertise of the Jedi stretched over more than just being able to swing a blade. Momo had respond by saying "Yea, we are also able to throw things with our minds." Which was the reason he was here now and not on Tellanroeg breaking his foot off in the chest of a battle droid.

Maybe he would learn someday to control his tongue. He ventured to a small window and looked outside. The city looked cool at night, he thought, so I should enjoy my stay here until I ship off again.

The activity in the halls of the Jedi temple had slowed significantly as the hour became late. The lights in the high ornate corridors had been dimmed, and only a few Jedi remained. Some saying their goodbyes and goodnights while some retired to their rooms. As she walked her violet eyes fell on a familiar figure a little way down the hall. A fellow student of the force, a young male called Melmo, though a lot of people would address him by the nickname Momo. As she got closer to him he waved at her, and a small smile crossed her face.

    ?Oh, hello Momo?

She said softly, shifting the data pad under her arm. Momo was a year older than Torah, a Nautolan, like the famous Jedi knight Kit Fisto. She was surprised to see him wandering the halls, wasn?t he supposed to have shipped out with his master? She bowed her head slightly in recognition to the elder padawan.

    ?How are you??

What was her name? What was her name? Momo's mind was fighting him and not allowing him to figure it out, but he was sure it started with Tor. He attempted to hide a smile, failing, and folded his arms. "I'm okay, somethin' tiffed about not being able to ship out. A bit tuv a...deesagreement, yes...deesagreement weet Master Tenalli."

His large eyes slid down to the datapad in her arm. He couldn't see from his vantage point what it was. He nodded his head towards it. "What have you been up to?"

Torah was sorry to hear that Momo had been temporarily grounded. She, like many others understood the frustrations that came with being left behind. But she was sure that Momo and his master would be reunited with each other soon. Her thoughts went back to her own master for a moment. It felt like he had been away forever. Bringing her attentions back to the present, she noticed Momo looking at her data pad

"What have you been up to?"

She shrugged she shoulders a little. Very few people were interested in the in's and outs of plant life save her master and a couple of the healers. Heck, not many people were interested in what she had to say in general. But it was kind of Momo to ask her about her studies.

"It's nothing that interesting, really. I've just been cataloguing some of the temples plant life. There?s a new strain of plant whose leaves may contain potent antiseptic properties its quite fascinating..."

She paused then, realising that she might have started to ramble, or worse started to bore the young nautolan to death. She let out an uneasy chuckle and shook her head.

"...I'm sorry, a lecture is the last thing you want before you turn in"

She said apologetically, her eyes flicked down to look at the floor for a moment, a pale hand unconsciously tugging at the sleeve of her tunic.

Momo could see that she was self-conscious. He was socially awkward so he could understand how she felt, but didn't exactly know what to do. He looked back out the window for a couple seconds, lost for words, but eventually turned back and smirked at her. "Tees okay, Tor, maybe a lechure ees exactly what I need."

He understood what an antiseptic, he had seen medics apply medpacs on the field to stop infections, but he had not known they had any plants on Coruscant could make it. Hell, there were almost no plants on the city-planet left, except for the small gardens of politicans, the wealthy, and, apparently, now the Jedi Order.

"You spend a lot tuv time in the gardeens. I deed not think plants could be tat interesting." He said, rubbing one palm over his headband, a habit he did when he thought deeply, though those times were rare.

    Tal Froog

Two by two the younglings filed past, hand in hand with their line buddies so that no one wandered off or got lost. Tal smiled at the Jedi Knight that led them along back to their quarters for the night, then waved at the Clan. One young human boy in particular beamed up at Tal.

"How was dinner, Sors?" Tal grinned.

"YUMMY!" Sors said, throwing up his hands, much to the consternation of his line buddy who reached up to take it in hers, again.

"Glad to hear it," Tal said, "I got something for you."

Sors was shocked. Like all his age, he loved surprises, and it showed on his face.

"What is it this time?" the little boy said, bouncing from one foot to the other.

From a pocket in his robe, Tal produced a few sweets he'd snagged from the mess, wrapped neatly in a napkin. "Now don't eat them right before bed," Tal said. "And share!"

"I will!" But he looked disappointed. So did the Knight at the head of the line, but not enough to keep Tal from indulging the little ones.

The Duros padawan waved goodbye to Sors Bandeam as he pumped his little legs to catch up to the rest of the class. He continued on.

What the galaxy didn't realize was the the Jedi were now fighting a Sith war of their own once more. The Clone Wars were, ostensibly, about secession but that could no longer be trusted. It seemed that those who crave power have short memories - anyone with access to a history book could tell you the Sith were not to be allowed in, but the Trade Federation in their greed did not come to the Jedi to free themselves and thought they saw opportunity in allying themselves with a Darth Sidious. Now one Sith was known, the former Jedi Count Dooku, and it was clear that the war was not about legal rights but about the Sith once more gaining a foot hold.

But that would change when the Council discovered where the Dark Lord was locking himself away, keeping himself hidden. And, if the rumors were true, the Jedi now even had the fabled Chosen One on their side: Anakin Skywalker, the Hero with No Fear, would destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. It was only a matter of time. The war would end soon.

Reading the tales of heroes in the library, Tal longed to prove himself in battle like so many great Jedi before him. Alas, he was more like the great Odan Urr: an academic. Reading about adventure but never daring to engage in it. Perhaps it was because his master knew of his frailty that he'd been left behind rather than brought into the war. Ashamed, Tal continued to read.

"You spend a lot tuv time in the gardeens. I deed not think plants could be tat interesting."

Momo stated as he rubbed his hand on his forehead in thought.

?You noticed that huh? I guess I just find it easier to focus out there. Easier to meditate and contemplate the force. I often wonder what Coruscant looked like before the cities covered it, Too much ferrocrete and transparisteel on this planet, y?know??

Torah said before she trailed off, a small smile forming on her face. The hour was getting late and she didn?t want to hold him up any longer. Still it was nice to have talked with him. However briefly. Those who knew of Torah would agree that she wasn?t the most confident of students. But she was trying.

?Anyway, I should go. It was nice talking to you?Sleep well Momo?

She said softly and bowed her head again to the elder padawan, before turning on her heel and making her way to the female accommodations within the temple.
