Saga The science of the Force

After watching a Netflix marathon of clone wars I noticed that there is different ways in which the force can be manipulated. Some like the Jedi use more basic principals of the force including manipulation of individuals and pushing and pulling of souls. But the sith can use alchemy and the nightsisters can as well but without using the full potential of the force. So it begs the question, if the force is a open to all then why is it that only certain individuals or clans or groups use some or parts of the force. Is there something about it that only certain parts can be utilized with certain users and or parts of the force.

Is the force like the spectrum of light? different wavelengths gives different abilities. Can only certain attuned individuals only tap into part of the spectrum kind of like dogs and people. Only dogs can hear lower frequencies but only humans can see color.

 

Well, when it comes to the Nightsisters, Season 6 of TCW seemed to imply that their magicks are a sort of "artificial" manipulation of the Force, as opposed to the more natural methods employed by the Jedi and (ironically) the Sith. The Nightsisters make use of some sort of ichor which emanates from the planet Dathomir itself, as opposed to simply tapping into the midi-chlorians in their cells. Perhaps Nightsisters are only mildly Force-sensitive naturally, and thus need artificial assistance to make use of the full power of the Force. This would also explain why they aren't a greater force in the galaxy when compared to the Jedi and the Sith; they need to stick close to their source of artificial power in order to accomplish anything.

Maul and Asajj Ventress would have been the exception to the rule, being born with a natural affinity to the Force and thus being exploited by the Sith for their abilities. Even Savage Opress didn't appear to be especially attuned to the Force until his body was imbued with spirit ichor.

 

The Jedi rely on the most basic principles of the Force from which knowledge and defense is noted as the important factors. Hence the Jedi use the same set of skills first introduced in ANH and TESB, as opposed to what we've seen the Sith do since ANH and carrying over into TCW. The Sith seek out other aspects of the Force which to their point of view, will give them total mastery of the Force. We know from the Whills and the Priestesses that there is more to learn, but not from the unnatural tenants of the Force like cheating death, but more about how to accept the darkness within and becoming truly selfless in order to pass on their knowledge of the Force. The Nightsisters have a different set of core beliefs which results in a more mystical application of the Force, than normal.

In many ways it is like the different aspects on religion that we have in the real world. They all connect to the same core spiritual belief of something that exists beyond our perception of the universe, but we all approach those beliefs in different ways.

 

Yoda said that the Force is created by life but that it flows through everything. Luke also said during the NJO that the Force was a river, and it would be selfish for the Jedi to think that theirs was the only path to tapping the power of that river. Dissecting that and using our own understanding of physics I have some conjecture as to the science of our beloved Force.

It's important to note that the Jedi strive to let the Flow of the Force direct their actions, as well as what each individual Jedi believes to be the Will of the Force. The Sith, however, Strive to bend the Force to their will. The difference, in my own humble Jedi opinion being, the Sith (and all Dark Aspect users) manipulate the emanations of their surroundings while augmenting their own imprint on the Force, sort of a sponge. While the Jedi strive to allow (over time) more and more of the Force to flow freely through them. To a Jedi, power is having enough prescience to bring back balance then returning to a balanced state themselves. In other words, the Darker the power becomes the more powerful the light becomes, Solely because the will of the Force is balance.

Scientifically speaking, The Force is a wave on an Oscilloscope, the light side above the x-axis, and the dark side below. Each individual Force user decides their own wavelengths place on the y-axis, with no place being wrong but the will of the Force being close to center.

The Force is a wavelength from which all others emanate, a wave is a vibration field in constant motion being fed by a source, the source is life.

 

I always thought of the Force being like air--it's everywhere. But certain individuals, thanks to the presence of midichlorians, or whatever, act as natural conduits, and create ripples in the Force. It's almost like channeling magical energy was described in the Wheel of Time series. Force users are merely "tuning into" the Force and allowing it to flow through them, and by doing so, are directing its flow to affect physical matter. Jedi would therefore be directing that flow subtly and as little as possible, whereas Sith would be wrenching control of it and forcibly bending it far more than the Jedi do, which would explain why anger and the more powerful emotions are more destructive. The Force would be seeking to return to balance, and Sith know that pushing down harder on that spring that is the Force, it's going to decompress with greater force, meaning more destructive power.

Just food for thought.

 

Remember in The Fifth Element when the genetic engineer said how much more complicated the Supreme Being's dna was as compared to humanity? I picture midichlorians that way, but even far more complex. So complex that they are capable of spiraling down and touching what we call Planck Energy. Throw in what Einstein called spooky action at a distance and you have some nice handwavium to explain The Force.

One of my favorite quotes relates to this from Arthor C Clarke, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Perhaps an ancient race created these midichorians to increase ones abilities in every way imaginable.

 

Ah, the Architects...I always wondered if they were responsible for keeping the Rakata in check, and once they were removed from the galactic scene, the Rakata filled the void and became an empire unto themselves.

That's a great elaboration of Arthur c Clarkes quote. The more WE learn about science the spookier it gets. Eventually, if we don't destroy ourselves, we will be "magicians" of life itself.
