First off, what's with all the locked threads? Especially the ones that as far as I can see have been locked for no reason. I'm a n00b and want to read and reply to old threads.

Do the New Topics in here have to be specifically about Scotland and if they're not is there a decent chance of people replying to them?

Is there some way the Scotland forums can be excempt from the No-Swearing/Flaming rule!? It's not as funny as it should be as that's all part of our sense of humour. The only rules that should really stand are the no-bigotry/racism/porn/homophobia ones. PLEASE!!

as for swearing, that is a battle we have now been fighting for four or five years, and sometimes the mods are tolerant people, and sometimes they are american christian fundamentalists, and we just have to take our fudging chances ...

As mentioned above, after a set period of time threads automatically lock. If you want any thread re-opened just PM Yoshee (your official local mod - link in the header), or me (your non-official mod from other parts).

Regards swearing :- it's totally forbidden in these parts. The entire site is owned by two guys and they set the policy regards these sorts of things. We respect their decisions because they provide this place free of charge.

That being said, I typically ignore anything subtle I see around these parts, and leave the moderation to Yoshee.

and bear in mind, too, that traditional scottish greetings like 'bawbag', 'plamff', 'choob', 'walloper', ''fud', 'keech' and indeed 'faanneeeeeee' are all much nicer words to use anyway

'bawbag' is one of my personal favourites.

Until recently you could use the word ****** as the American management didn't know what it meant. Sadly that word has crossed the pond as is now banned.

(oh, the word is rhyming slang for "Sherman Tank")
