First time caller, long time listener.

I've been on the "other" Speicial Edition board that you're referring to, doing my best to fight the good fight. But some people are just SO resistant to change.

My postition on the SE is this:

There IS NO SPECIAL EDITION.

Did anybody buy the newest release of the trilogy, the one with the Episide II preview? I did. It's the (so-called) SE versions of the films, and nowhere on the videos does it have the words "special edition".

Shouldn't this be some clue as to how Lucas views the films?

It is to me.

It says that, in his mind, there are not multiple versions of the films. It's my guess that the original versions no longer exist in his mind. Considering recent news about possible future additions/changes being made to the films, he seems to view the movies as a work in progress. Which is probably why he's waiting to release Episodes IV, V and VI.

Bottom line: cry all you want about what you "deserve", but I think that the special editions ARE Star Wars.

That being said . . I'm 29, and I grew up with SW. I've accepted it. In fact, I have no problem with it if, in the end, it adds to the visual and narrative continuity of all six films.

So really, shouldn't this board be re-named to the "STAR WARS DEFENSE FORCE"?

Yes, Otis_Frampton, every edition of Star Wars is,in fact, STAR WARS, and not different movies, or different versions.
Lucas just 'reedited' them using some tricks of this age's new technologies and put them back into the cinemas... but I went to see them concerned that I was going to see a Star Wars film,-the same ones I had and still have at home: the original versions-!

It really does'nt matter the name we give to theese films:'special editions' is just a way to call them, and the creation of this thread responds to the idea of forming a new 'defense' group,as there is ESB defense force, ROTJ defense force... but mentioning and making comment of some those new details...

am I wrong?
