The Search for Atlantis
New York, 1938


The only light in the room is the flashing of the lightning outside the windows, the electricity had been down for the past few hours. The crashes of thunder shake the apartment, but none of this fazes it?s occupant. He is lonely, and he continue to chew on steak and potatoes, his mind wondering into the nothingness. He just worked his butt off at work all day, and all he need is a full stomach and some sleep. No one understands him. He works harder and harder every day of his life, but he feels that he can do so much more? something meaningful and useful.

Suddenly, the phone rings. Ever so slowly (grabbing his stiff back as he stands up) he picks up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Sullivan.? A woman?s voice.

?Yes??

?What I am about to tell you will change the course of history. Are you willing to face danger, even death for the good of the world?"

His brows furrowed in confusion, he leans against the wall. "What? Who is this!"

"I represent a very very rich man? you, along with several others, have been chosen because of your talents or gifts. You have no life here, and if you chose to join us, we will make sure your entire life is, shall we say, effortless."

"I don't get it." Effortless would be good. Effortless would be very good?

"Look out your window. There is a black car with a circular insignia on the passenger door.?

Unsure at first he takes a step towards the rain battered window. With a shake of his head, the muscular man takes the last few steps and peers out. To his surprise, the car she described is sitting outside his apartment building.

?If you choose to help us right now, come join me." With a click, the other end is gone.

Mr. O?Neill looked out the window hard, the phone hanging loosely in his hands. Pondering, should he? What if this was a trick? what if it was the mafia? What if what if what if?

Dropping the phone, he grabbed his coat off the nearby coat rack, and ran out the door and down the stairs. A man waited to open the back door for him, and quickly the tall man climbed in.

"Welcome, Mr. Sullivan,? A thin, blonde headed beauty said from the other window. Her long, slender legs were crossed and her delicate fingers held the edge of her cropped skirt at the knees. The blonde locks were held back in an elegant bun, and her head was covered with a stylish hat. ??to the top secret search for Atlantis."


If this game looks familiar? then you have been around these boards for at least 2 years. This is a game I had originally started, but had to close due to lack of time. (Gotta love HS graduation.) In this game, we will be exploring Atlantis? and facing an unknown enemy. You must come with a sense of adventure and ready for danger at every corner! Not only that, but we?ll be doing it in the late 1930s!!!

The usual rules apply, and all character sheets must be sent to me to be approved.

Not only that, but spelling and grammar is a big deal, people. I?m not asking for perfection? but a run through spell check every now and again would be great.

Physical Description: Tall and slender. Muscular, but not built. Long blonde hair, blue eyes, and olive skin.
Clothing: Outside the mission, stylish skirt and jacket outfits. Within the mission, tall boots, kaki pants, white shirt, dark lether jacket.

Physical Description: He is normal size for an adult and is skinny. His hair is a military buzz and he has a scar on his chin. He has small, old burns on his right arm.
Clothing: He wears a red shirt sleeve t-shiry with a black sweater over that. His wears brown pants. He also, sometimes, wears a military helment.
Country/State: London, England British Accent
Expertise: Cook
Bio: Reg grew up under his father as a cook, when the War struck he was old enough to serve as a military cook in the back lines and quickly learned how to make a good meal fast. After the war, he went home, with several burns on his right arm from a bomb. He joined the Atlantas Expedition and left his small restraant in London for a hopeful better life.

Name:Joseph *Jackal Joe* Porter
Age: 27
Sex: Male

Physical Description: Has a good deep tan some would consider medium to dark brown. Stands at about 5' 11" weighing about 180 lbs. Has hazel colored eyes, and is bald. He is not exactly the most muscle defined built man, but is in fairly good condition minus a few scars on his arms, and neck. Overall he is a decent looking man who might be mistaken for being a slight older then he really is due to his appearance being weathered by many long hours spent in the Mississippi sun.

Clothing: Wears a long pair of worn looking tan jeans with boots to match. A light colored cotton shirt with a tan colored coat jacket over it to cover his gun holster despite the fact that their are laws prohibiting black males from carrying firearms. He has a pair of gloves usually on his person, and a brown bandana rag around his neck with a dusty hat to match.

Country/State: Untied States/Mississippi and Chicago.
Expertise: Mechanic/Protector

Bio: Joseph was born to share cropping parents who two years after his birth were able to purchase ten acres of their own land that Joseph help tend to the age of ten before his parents had enough to allow him some form of schooling. Growing up in the deep south Joseph saw first hand the treatment of blacks as second class citizens, and much to his dismay knew there wasn't anything he could do about it. Quiet by nature people assumed that the Jackson boy was a dim witted boy who would end up tending the farm his parents had started for the rest of his life. Unknown to them that Joe had a talent in understanding the workings of tools and such to which a kind old elderly man named Stu brefriended the shy Joe, and instructed him in the trade of mechanic's from automotives to gun maintences.

Stu was a former soilder who served as his battalion's on location mechanic as well as one of it's scouts on long range missions. Stu passed on his knowledge to Joe who he nicknamed Jackal for the knack the young Joeseph had for suddenly appearing alongside on days they spent together. Pretty soon Joe spent his time with Stu instead of going to school to which he felt was nothing more then a waste of time due that he learned pretty much all the basics of skills such as math, reading, and even science from what Stu had to instruct him in.

By the age of seventeen Joe could fix anything from wagon wheels to plane engines, and was a deadly shot with any sort of firearm you could think off due to the fact that he could probably fix it if it was faulty. By the time 1918 came around Joe joined the armed forces filling in the same capacity that Stu did much to his parents dismay who tried everything to talk him out of it even to the point that they threatened to disown him if he disobeyed their wishes. With a heavy heart Joe went against their wishes, and his father disowned him for it stripping him of their last name of Jackson.

Joseph served in the ranks of the army alongside his fellow african american brothers as they were often sent ahead of their white counterparts on force strkies, and he alongside with two others were the only ones to survive two years of intense duty to make it home. Even after returning Joesph stayed in active duty due to the fact that he earned pretty good wages as a mechanic for the army who discovered his talents after he rebuilt a downed fighters engine in the midst of a heavy air strike in his first month of service during the war.

His reputation as a mechanic is what people know him for, but people will never associate the army mechanic with the shy Mississippi black boy for Joe changed his surname from Jackson to Porter in honor of Stu who passed away a few months after he returned from the war. Residing in Chicago in a old garage building that he had inherited from Stu in his will Joe is hoping to restore the building into a Auto Repairs shop, but his money he gets from the army won't be enough so he's looking for another source for money to do it.

Physical Description: Jaymee is tall and well-built and has blonde-brown hair, that comes just past her shoulders. She has very delicate facial features, with bright blue eyes that are by far her best feature. Her skin has a light tan to it, and her complexion is near flawless. Though her body is well built, she is usually seen as a very attractive woman.
Clothing: Cargo pants and boots and a tank top, usually in black or green, when working in the field. The most fashinable dress of the time when at a social event.
Country/State: Australia
Expertise: Biology
Bio: Jaymee is the eldest of five from the most wealthy family in Australia, and because of this, has had many opportunities in her life, including the best education available.

She moved to the US when she was 24 for a University scholarship. She was accepted to Yale out of 200 applicants to study Biology, specialising in Marine Biology. She is a very serious student who worked hard and came top of her class. She quickly became recognised as one of the top Marine Biologists in the country. Becasue of this well-known status, she attracted a lot of male attention and found a very wealthy husband while in the US.

Because of her husbands work obligations, she was forced to stay and live in the US after completing her University degree and leave her family behind in Australia.

About six months ago, she received a letter from her brother that her mother was extremely ill, and no one seemed to know what was wrong. She pleaded her husband to let her go to her mother, and he said that next week, when he hd some time, they would both go.
Her mother died shortly after her arrival.

Her husband is quite supportive of her work and love of marine life, so she is not tied down to much with home obligations. So now Jaymee is looking for something more from life, a deeper meaning. She has a huge guilt on her shoulders that she was not there for her mother during her last years.

Bio: Born and raised in New Jersey. His parents died under unknown circumstances when he was 10. As an orphan he stole to survive. He made it big for a gang leader at the age of 16. His boss gave him an armed robbery job when he was 17. He accepted. The mission went wrong and he and his crew was arrested. He was tried and found guilty. However as an alternative to jail the court offered to give him a job on the Atlantis Expedition. He agreed.

Bio: Elaine Rivers grew up on the outskirts of london and always had an intrest in history. Being half german she was already bi-linguel. At university studying history and latin she was friends with many foreign students and so picked up a few more languages. When a place at the british museum opened needing her two main skills history and languages she jumped to the idea and got it. She was doing very well in her job until the call came, and being the naturaly inquisitive person she is she accepted.

Physical Description: Rosario has lightly tanned skin, and dark brown hair, coupled with dark brown eyes, and long, thin hands. She's not very tall, standing at only 5'5, and wears a pair of small half-moon glasses.

Clothing: Rosario can usually be found wearing a plain, single colored skirt, and a blouse under a white lab coat, but she has also been known to wear slacks, and more comfortable dresses and skirts, as well as simple shirts when not at work.

Country/State: Rosario was orginally from Madrid, Spain, something you can hear in her accent, but has for several years been doing research in New York, New York.

Bio: Rosario grew up in a middle class family in Madrid, taugh to dream big. Her family worked hard to put her through school, so she could become the first female doctor in the family. To their surprise it turned out research was her calling. Since she was clearly gifted, she was given a position in a lab in New York, in America, trying to find what holds the "code of life". Her passion is the discovery of new species, and evolution, which is why she responded to the invitation.

Physical Description: Alexander is 5'8 with short cut red/brown hair and a fair complexion, he is athletically built with broad muscular shoulders. He has a ready smile and often looks as if he knows something funny noone else does.
Clothing: Sandy has strong military leather boots, khaki spats that reach to mid shin, brown pants, a white cotton shirt with a dark brown jacket, he also wears a Glengarry (scottish Beret)

Bio:
Sandy Chalmers was born into a poor family on the banks of the river Clyde in the heart of Glasgow. To help support his family he went in search of work at the age of 14 and found it working on the estates of the lord of Lochiel (His clan Chieftain) as a Gillie, or gamesman who's main duties were to track and care for deer and other game and to hunt down and apprehened any poachers.

After serving his apprenticeship he soon became renown for his ability to track and stalk anyone or anything and has been known to have on several occasions managed to touch a Deer before it knew he was there. His abilities were such that when the king visited Scotland last he asked that Sandy lead the Gillie's in pursuit of the king's game. Sandy is currently working with the british army as an instructor on its forward scout/sniper course.

Alright!! We have most of the characters posted... I'm just waiting for a few more to get a move on and post their character sheets. After that, we'll get started on our adventure!!!

I feel so Indiana Jones right now... for no reason... I think I might go watch it...
