Eric Idle's comment on George having the record for the most expensive movie ticket was pretty funny.

    This doc will be great.

TWO DAYS AGO, all my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I believe in TWO DAYS AGO.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, TWO DAYS AGO came suddenly.

    Why it had to go
    I don't know, they wouldn't say.
    I said, something wrong
Now I long for TWO DAYS AGO.

TWO DAYS AGO, the doc was such an easy film to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in TWO DAYS AGO.

    Why it had to go
    I don't know, they wouldn't say.
    I said, something wrong
Now I long for TWO DAYS AGO.

TWO DAYS AGO, the doc was such an easy film to play
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in TWO DAYS AGO.

    Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

The DVD is out in a day or so in many territories, so why don't you just buy it?

( Out on Nov 24 here though  )

I usually download stuff first to watch it before I buy the DVD - to make sure it's worth buying.

    I'd love to, but can't.

    1. I'm out of vacations at work (well, I still have two days left, but I'm keeping those for Christmas)
    2. I'm out of money (well, not exactly, but I'm saving everything for the refurbishment of my new flat) - if the concert was in Prague or Vienna or Budapest, the travel costs would be much less than flying to London (I'd probably even drive to Budapest, it's only about 2-3 hours by the motorway from where I live)
    3. My Mum will be returning home from Germany around that date and I'll need to pick her up and welcome her at home.

Those are all annoyingly good reasons. Better luck next time, I suppose. :)

There's a gig in Liverpool, too. D'you think it might be better to see him there - atop his ancestral seat? :p

Watched Living In The Material World this evening.

    Very good.

George Harrisons humanity and spirituality is the theme that really weaves the doc together. Georges quest for enlightenment and knowleage is presented very much as a preperation for the moment of death and is a theme thats repeated throughout. So when you come to the end and Olivia describes how George died its actually a tremendously life-affirming and fulfilling conclussion.

All aspects of his life are touched upon, which explains the long running time. Harrison is not presented as a saint (at one point Olivia candidly admits that he was unfaithful to her through their marriage) but as I say his humanity always shines through.

The best moments for me were definately when Olivia or Dhani were sharing the private moments. Very touching.

If I had a complaint it would be that I felt the Beatles break-up is very much glossed over. Of course this is par of the course with any doc focussing on the Beatles, so I don't blame this doc per-se. Somehow you still get the feeling that 40 years on the full story of the Beatles break-up is still waiting to be told.

Could also have done without Phil Spectors ghostly, warped face showing up. What George would make of his one time collaborator, who seems to have become pretty much the antithesis of everything George Harrison believed and stood for, I don't know?

Overall a tremendous doc and a must have for any Beatles fan or any fan of music. Oh and talking of music the soundtrack is pretty damb awesome. Obviously.
