The animation is pretty impressive. It would have been great for some sort of movie, or the like, instead of Rock Band.

That cinematic is absolutely fantastic! [face_love] :D I especially love the psychedelic part, it's just so imaginative and weird - just like their later songs. And I agree with DT421, it would look totally awesome as an animated film - something like the Yellow Submarine.

Although, there is one thing I'm really missing - the huge piano chord at the end, when "The Beatles" comes up. It should be there. :p

Anyway, and slightly off topic: I don't want to sound crass, but now that Michael Jackson is dead, what does this mean for the Beatles' songs?

The first time I watched it was expecting the piano chord too, and felt it never finished properly. The 2nd time I heard the elephant snort in its place - absolutely hilarious.

I enjoy the 2D section prior to the elevator more than the psychedelic 3D section, - I wish the art direction was more consistent throughout. but I guess it's the transition to a new world, and it is startling.

My favourite parts are McCartney's bass fretboard in the airport concert and Harrison's likeness, which is just beautiful in Shea Stadium. The girl screaming at Shea too - spine tingling.

There are hundreds of little in-jokes too, we shoud try and spot them I guess!

Regarding Sony?ATV - Sony lent MJ millions secured against his 50% ownership in the company, so it would seem to me that Sony will take full ownership of Sony/ATV once the legal issues are sorted (though no doubt there will be a death-clause in all the paperwork needed for the loans).

People thinking rights will somehow revert to McCartney are dreaming.

Yeah, I love those, too. In fact, all their likenesses are spot on. I loved the bit where Ringo peeks out from behind the door and it's just his hair and his nose. :p Bless them...

OK, let's take it from the beginning:

    - The posters on the wall at the beginning (I had to pause to spot them all): "Come Together", "Benefit of Mr. Kite", "Hard Day's Night", "Blackbirds", "Jeremy" (as in Jeremy Hillary Boob, Phd. :p), "The Meanie Blues", "The Semoline Pilchards", "Rocky Raccoon", "Maggie Mae and the Word", "The Revolution", "Carry That Weight", "Mr. Moonlight", can't read the rest.
    "Maxwell's Silver Sundries".
    - The fireman (obviously from Penny Lane).
    - The pub called "The Grapes" (could be a reference to the "Live at BBC" where they were talking about fruit and Ringo yelled "I like grapes!") with "All day breakfast price: 1 & 1 is 2" (as opposed to 1 and 1 and 1 is 3) and the menu: "Fish and Finger Pies", "Honey Pies", "Cream Tangerine Montelimor" (sp?), "Ginger Sling with Pineapple Heart", "Coffee Desert", "Coconut Fudge", "Savoy Truffle", "Cool Cherry Cream and Nice Apple Tart", can't read the last one. There's also "Mean Mr. Mustard" and something written over the door.
    - The Abbey Road, with a horse in top-hat??? Don't know where that one comes from...
    - Ringo holding a box with "Strawberry Fields Farm" written on it in the taxi.
    - The typewriter when they change stages for the first time to the sound of "Paperback Writer".
    - "P.S.: I Love You" on a poster on Shea Stadium.
    - Little "elementary penguins"? :p
    - The sign with (stupid bloody) "Tuesday".
    - The creature next to it has sign in its stomach that switches between Hello and Goodbye

And that's all I can spot at the moment. :p

    EDIT: Two more things:

    - "The Beatles" said by Ed Sullivan when they step out of the plane
    - "Lucy" written "in diamonds" on the Sun
    - And the piano splashed with paints in the "English garden" is definitely from one music video of theirs, but I just CAN'T remember which one it was... [face_frustrated]

The old brown shoe in the alleyway on the Cavern escape.

What's the guy in the manhole popping up? I know I should know it.

The 'Tuesday' Street sign (I am the walrus). (edit: You got that one already)

*slaps forehead* Of course! It's Mean Mr. Mustard:

Mean Mr. Mustard sleeps in the park
    Shaves in the dark
    Trying to save bacon
Sleeps in the hole in the road

Wish he'd do a concert in the UK.

Also, my favourite Beatles song is The Fool on the Hill.

I'm currently listening to my All Things Must Pass bootleg called "Acetates and Alternatives" which has the songs without the Spector "Wall of Sound" additions. The songs are great stripped down. I forgot how good this bootleg was.

EDIT: I'm currently on the track that has George singing the lead on Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy"

    I hope he doesn't.

Because then you will buy tickets.

And if past record is anything to go by, then weeks later there will only be one Beatle left.

From the Beatles Rock Band mailing list

Be sure to tune into the "Late Show with David Letterman" tonight on CBS (Wednesday 7/15, 11:30 PM ET/PT) as Paul McCartney returns to the Ed Sullivan Theater where, as part of The Beatles, he made his U.S. television debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show".

This is Sir Paul's first appearance on the Late Show, and there are sure to be some surprises during his interview and performance!
