Super-68, en route back to the Temple. 500 meters above the surface of Saridona Prime

"The other shuttles went down, I don't think there were any survivors."

Zurros leaned his head back against the cold wall behind him. Surely this handful of Jedi were not all that remained of the army that had left the temple, but it was possible. A full count would have to be conducted upon their return. The sounds of weeping came to him, looking around he saw it was the sentient who had answered him. Zurros didn't know him but it was obvious the battle affected him deeply.

Pulling himself out of his seat, Zurros made his way to him. Laying his hand on the weeping mans shoulder he said: 'Don't cry my friend, we survived and are going home. Be thankful, many are not so lucky' The words probably sounded like empty platitudes, but that didn't make them any less true.

    Shuttle, Saridona Prime

Kai sits silently as the shuttle moved quietly back towards the temple. What had they accomplished? They destroyed some droids maybe…killed some Sith but, that didn't break the siege they were under. The red bolts of death raining from above drive that point home, with every impact. From his seat he rests his head in his hands, feeling the fatigue wash over him. He is drained, the Force kept the feeling at bay but, now his muscles ache, his breathing is labored and sweat drips from his brow. Another odd thing were his scars, the skin around them felt wrong, irritated maybe but, he couldn't place his finger on what it is that made him uncomfortable. It is like something crawling around them many small bugs just skittering around them. He rubs his chest but, the feeling doesn't go away. The scars themselves have no feeling, just marks of numb tissue.

The questions hung in the air, what did they do next, and was this mission worth all that was lost? His gut says, that no amount of destruction was worth the loss of one Knight, droids could be replaced, Jedi could not. He lets out a shaky breath muscles trembling a little. He'd need just a bit of rest before doing much else but, this isn't it, this fight isn't over, not by a long shot.

IC: Beskaryc Taab/General Hector Zey/Knight Elim Rand (NPC)
Main shuttle bay, Temple of Light

The rescue shuttle settled down on the hard surface of the main hanger deck with a loud thump. Along with the two Jedi sent out on the shuttle, Taab and Farmgirl (Knight Loother) had managed to move the three injured Knights aboard without any problems, though they had been required to cut out portions of the wrecked shuttle's bulkheads with lightsabers in order to free Spikes (Knight Grissuk) from where she had been trapped. The return flight had gone quickly, most of the time being spent by those aboard ensuring the injured Jedi were getting the care they needed prior to arrival back at the Temple. They had been given priority clearance to land, putting them on the ground before the only surviving QRF shuttle, Super-68. The hatch opened and Taab saw The Peacemaker (Master Piim) there along with Doc (Knight Susruta) and several other Jedi waiting with repulsor stretchers. The litter bearers immediately rushed towards the open hatch to retrieve the wounded, as Super-68 came in to land.

    aboard Super-68

"Do we have any info on the other shuttles? Was our mission successful?" Padawan Ka's question hung in the air for a moment before padawan Thrace surprisingly answered. "The other shuttles went down, I don't think there were any survivors." The lad began to sob to himself, but was quickly comforted by his fellow padawan. "Don't cry my friend, we survived and are going home. Be thankful, many are not so lucky." Zey was content to allow the padawan's their own commiseration, but he exchanged a knowing look with Master Kasumi, padawan Thrace had nearly come unglued out there, and was now overly emotional here. He would bear further watching, and mentoring, before he would be allowed to go out on another mission.

Another mission. The very thought haunted the Jedi Grand Master. This one had been an unmitigated disaster, and Zey wasn't even sure of just how hurt they had been. He had been told now that they had to be kept waiting as a rescue shuttle sent out on Master Piim's orders landed ahead of them, but just who and how many they had rescued remained to be seen. The shuttle finally landed and the boarding ramp lowered. Wearily, he allowed the other Jedi to depart first before being the last to disembark the craft.

They were already beginning to congregate around the rescue craft, watching the wounded being taken off and giving Knight Susruta space to work. Knight Loother was there, alive and unharmed. She looked tired and worn though, she had clearly been involved in a fight. Zey found himself surprisingly pleased to see Major Taab alive as well, though he looked even worse than Knight Loother. His armor was stained with oil and soot and pocked with new carbon scoring and blaster marks. There had been quite a fight over their crash site, and though Zey was curious he didn't approach them. He would find out soon enough. Word would spread quickly though the Temple of what had happened, who had survived and who had died, and worst of all how their mission had failed. Zey sighed deeply, just as the Jedi were giving the medics room to work, he too had to give each Knight and padawan the space to work their won way though what had just happened. It's not like he had any idea of what they were going to do next.

"...Knight Archisa killed one of them, Darth Veneficus I believe," The Negotiator (Knight Elim Rand) continued on giving Taab an update as to what had occurred at the Sith campsite. The Mandalorian had to report in to the General (Master Zey) but wanted to get as much information first before doing so. "Padawan Ka dispatched another, Darth Velerius." Taab smiled behind his faceplate. He was surprised that either of them had demonstrated the moxie to take out a Sith Lord on their own. He would have to start calling them by their names now, they'ed earned it anyhow.

"That makes three then..." He proceeded to tell the Jedi knight about Farmgirl's fight with Darth Zelus. The Negotiator stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Yes, and two still incarcerated. That leaves just Darth Cavillous up there." The Knight smiled, pointing skyward and Taab let out a short, gruff laugh. The mission hadn't been a success, but things weren't as bad as he had first believed. Three Sith killed, their army broken. Yes it had cost the Jedi greatly, but all that was left was Cavillous and his Star Destroyer. If they could find an alternate way aboard, they would stand better than even odds he felt. Shab, it might be better to find a way to just destroy the ship and to hell with the Jedi prisoners aboard. That would negatively affect his bonus, and he doubted the General would opt for such a strategy, but it was worth considering now that their potential "in" to get aboard quietly had been lost. Seeing the General looking in his direction he excused himself with a nod and sauntered off to the Grand Master and removed his buy'ce (helmet)

"How many?" The Jedi Grand Master asked somberly. Taab shook his head. "Only five survivors, including myself." He gestured to the rescue shuttle, "Farmgirl and I are the only ones walking. The Pilot, (Knight Durrant) broke his back in the crash. He should recover, but it'll take time." He shrugged, that was the good news from Super-64. "Spikes had both legs crushed. I expect she'll need those amputated and replaced." He left out telling the General that she had actually performed well despite being immobilized. That could be saved for another time, right now the General just needed the basics.

"Baldy (Knight Daruss) has a nasty head wound, probably a concussion. I expect her to be back on her feet soon enough, but Doc would know better than me on that." He looked back one last time as the stretchers carrying the wounded were hauled off to the infirmary. Doc would be busy overnight and into tomorrow. He looked back at the General and their eyes met. "The other ten aboard Super-64 are KIA, died in the crash." He didn't mention that the bodies were still out there. Taab and Farmgirl didn't have time to load those before they unshebbed the area. A subsequent mission would have to be launched if they wanted to recover their remains. "Super-61 took a direct hit, no survivors. I've talked the preliminaries over with the Negotiator, and I'll get a proper casualty list to you shortly." The General nodded his understanding slowly, a sad look on his face. "What about Knight Pasholl and padawan Battershell? Their glider was hit before we landed, but they looked to be OK." Taab's face was as expressionless as his helmet would have been. "No sign of either of them, or of Red (Knight Aaylestaa) and Sith-bait (padawan Tano). MIA."

Zey dismissed the Mandalorian with a wave of the hand, not trusting himself to speak. So many promising Jedi killed or missing, and for what? For nothing, and it was all his fault. The mission had been poorly planned and executed. They should have waited for better intel, or for the Sith to make some sort of move, but he had been so determined to seize the initiative, to take the fight to the Sith and dictate how this siege would end. His actions had brought this grief to the Guardians of Light, and it was he that deserved to be dead out there, not any of them. So lost in his own thoughts was Zey that he didn't notice at first that the Mandalorian hadn't left. "You should know General, we encountered Darth Zelus out there."

Zey's eyes became wide as saucers. She had been out that far from the campsite? Well where as she now? Zey's eyes scanned the hanger bay and the hatch of the landed rescue shuttle, but there was no sign of her. If she had been captured her escort to the stockade should have been priority one. His eyes returned to Taab's quizzically. "Farmgirl killed her," There was a hint of disappointment, even anger, in the Mandalorian's voice at that followed by an even more well hidden hint of admiration with what he said next. "Defeated her in single combat."

"Zelus, dead?" Zey's voice was but a whisper now, she had been the crux of the entire operation. The means to which they could free the imprisoned Jedi aboard the Hellfire and end the siege. What were they going to do now?

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions (in this case probably regarding survivors, wounded, missing but it can be anything else too :p ) via PM.

    General Information:
    Character's Name: Semajj Nosrep

    Species: Ongree
    Gender: Male
    Languages: Galactic Basic, Ongreenen, Huttese
    Home Planet: Skustell
    Age: 18

    Character Traits:

Personality: Semajj holds great compassion for all people, and seeks to bring peace he galaxy. He is somewhat reserved and introverted, unsure of exactly where he fits into the Guardians of Light, yet he holds a fiery passion for the light side. He is willing to work hard and earn his way up, and devote his life to the Jedi.

Habits/Mannerisms: Quiet and patient Semajj is unlikely to spark a conversation, and is happy to let others go on about their business. He is content to fade into the backround, but once a conversation is started he is far more open and willing to talk endlessly. He will gladly help those in distress, and has a tends to prefer negotiation to fighting.
Likes: Compassion, Humility, Intelligence, Wisdom, long term thinking.
Dislikes: Brashness, pointless cruelty, bullying, arrogance, short sightedness.
Racial Traits: Can breath under water

    Strengths and Weaknesses:

Physical: As an Ongree Semajj can breath under water, and has a thick hide that protects him against pain, and damage that would incapacitate others. Yet he is also bulky and not very agile. He makes up for this with aid from the force that allows him abilities many Ongree would be shocked at, yet he is still not nearly as speedy or light footed as force wielders of other species.
Mental: Semajj is relatively intelligent, more of a thinker than a talker, he will offer his thoughts and advice if he believes it to be important, otherwise he will keep it to himself unless specifically asked. He has no understanding of the Dark Side, and is baffled how anyone might willingly join it.
Emotional: He is unsure of himself, not afraid, he just doesn't like being outspoken, and is concerned about his own capabilities. Though he does his best to get out of his shell he is more of a loner at heart. He holds to his beliefs tightly and respects his superiors. But he can get flustered easily as well. He sees himself, and others by rank and experience, as a Padawan he will almost exclusively defer to those in his order who he believes to be more capable. Yet he is a strong willed, and passionate individual. He will not back down for a cause he knows is just, and stands proud to be doing what he knows is right.

    Picture:(Close enough)

    Eye Color: Blue
    Skin Color: Dark Orange
Clothing: Tan Jedi Tunic with a brown Jedi Robe

Personal History: Born on Skustell to a family of diplomats that stretched back to the days of the Old Republic, Semajj was discovered early to have grand force potential. The Ongree are a strong isolationist people, rarely going out into the galaxy at large, but when one of their own is discovered to possess an affinity with the force they are proud to send that child to the Jedi order to be trained. He has always been a quiet and diplomatic person, believing in compromise, his peers often joked that he was after the legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi's title of "The Negotiator". The Guardians of Light is all he has ever known, and he is unconditionally devoted to it, though he has equal respect for the other Jedi factions as well, and sees them as all part of the same extended family despite their differences.

    Jedi Business:

    Rank: Padawan
Combat Forms: Form III and Form V
Strong Area of the Force: Telekinesis, Reading minds, Beast tamer.
Weak Area of the Force: Enhanced speed and acrobatics he only has a limited affinity for due to his natural bulkiness, and it takes great concentration. He also has no real aptitude for many of the advanced techniques as he is only a Padawan he still has much to learn

Lightsaber: Single Green blade, with a simple construct. Standard issue for Padawans in the field as he has yet to construct his own personal lightsaber as part of his trials.

    Miscellaneous:
    Weapons: Just his lightsaber
Starship: A Personal Jedi Starfighter of unspecific design colored green for space missions.

Kasumi saw the look from Zey and knew what needed to be done. She stepped her way over to Thrace, "Meet me in the training rooms later. You pick the one, I'll find you. 2 hours. Then we work through this one step at a time, together." She didn't wait for an answer as she heard her friend Buddy whistling cheerfully at her return, and stepped towards him. Together the two slipped out away from the rest of the group to a quiet area. She didn't care who saw her. She just needed space. If anyone wanted to join in they could.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYZDOpHYgLM

With each step she could feel herself beginning to re-center. She could see her family teaching her the faster paced ones when she was little to help her focus the forest walker in her. She could see her masters walking through the slower ones with her to help clear her mind at the Temple during her training. She had to drown everything else out.

Buddy had gone through so much with is friend, his master. He knew what this time meant to her. He knew she needed this. It would be this until she was able to clear her mind. It would be this until she could calm herself again. She would rotate between this and faster forms. Buddy whistled with a mix of relief and sadness. He was relieved that she had returned, but saddened that she had to face such a thing again. He sat quietly back watching her.

What neither of them saw was the Force Ghosts that had appeared and began to walk through the forms with her. The familiar faces were there, her masters, her brother…there were some that she wouldn’t have recognized.

Zurros stood alone, watching as Jedi milled around talking over events. Wounded were being taken to the medical center, some sentients were just walking off on their own. Was everyone left to their own devices now? Zurros had imagined that they would be debriefed as a group. Looking around at the all to familiar aftermath of battle, the contrast made sad. Jedi who had not been with them were running around in their clean robes and fresh faces, struggling to hear snippets of the events at the camp. He doubted it would be long before he heard the infamous words: 'I wish I'd been there' or 'I'd have done this . . .' Fools, Jedi shouldn't yearn for battle or become experts on battle tactics with hindsight on their side.

But who was he to say what a Jedi should or shouldn't do anymore? He needed to tell the Grand Master what he'd done to the droid army, and during the battle with the Sith. He didn't know if there was a punishment for using a dark side attack, but if their was, it would be harsh. Thinking about the Sith woman again gave him pause, she was perfect. She had spent most of the battle trying to convert him to the dark side, perhaps he should have countered and tried to bring her back to the light. Had anyone tried this with their prisoners? Interrogation was a means to an end, but if they would willing share their information, and maybe even work as a double agent? Zurros dismissed the idea, surely it had been tried by now. Although he was left with a sudden urge to see the prisoners, even if it was just to question them about Valerius.

Looking around he found the GM speaking with Taab, time to get this over with. He approached the pair and stood a respectable distance away, waiting for their conversation to end.

Taking a look up he waited until he was the last to disembark the shuttle. The wounded, the injured, the weary, the shell shocked. They all needed to be seen to, to be taken off of the shuttle first. His own position mattered little and soon he was the only one aboard. The pilots had left, and the shuttle simply cooled within the hanger.

Reaching up he touched the bulkhead. Felt the smooth plate that had helped to carry him and so many others safely back to the temple. Reaching out with the Force he simply caressed it and sighed. He would know in just a few hours as reports were congealed by the higher ups, even now his recordings from his goggles were being uploaded to the Security Mando's servers. It was his, report.

Standing he stepped out and looked upon what others were doing, what the Grand Master was doing, and seeing one of the newest members performing a form of moving meditation he slowly drifted over, and began. He moved with her through poses he had never known. Feeling the way that was right in the Force, what the motions should be, slower, focused. Eyes closed he fell into himself as he moved through the poses and motions he found within this and he saw the exhaustion, the build up of toxins he had ignored in fleeing the battle, in ridding back. He simply brushed them away, set them to flying from his muscles to his sweat glands, to his blood, and there out. And so the motions drew him out again, cresting to take in the motions, what was next, and then down once more. Cycling through the feelings, the grunge of his very being to be slowly cleansed away.

    IC Ian Thrace
Hangar bay, temple of Light, Saridona Prime

Ian stood alone, off to one side after the shuttle had come in and landed. He had appreciated Padawan Ka's words and actions, but he didn't feel the same way. Maybe the dead were the lucky ones. They didn't have the siege to deal with any more, they didn't have the Sith to worry about, or death to fear. Their fears were over while Ian's just seemed to amplify. Seeing the Mandalorian, Taab, speaking with Knight Rand made Ian want to vomit. His apparent loss was the one bright spot that Ian had found in all of this, and now it wasn't even a reality. He didn't know how things could get any worse.

"Meet me in the training rooms later." Ian blinked in surprise. He hadn't even see Master Kasumi come up to him, now she was inviting to train with him? "You pick the one, I'll find you. 2 hours." Why was she being so nice to him? Ian's chest puffed out slightly. It would be good to get some proper training again, and from a Master. Maybe she could teach him to not be so afraid all the time. "Then we work through this one step at a time, together." Ian's shoulder's sagged. Oh, so that's what this is about. His "issues" out there on the battlefield. He knew he hadn't been ready, and yet he had been forced into combat out there and then...something had happened. Something he didn't fully understand, nor was he sure he even wanted to. He watched through narrowed eyes as Master Kasumi met with her droid for a bit before beginning some sort of exercise that was way too advanced for him. Knight Trevalus seemed to like it though as he joined her a few moments later.

Meanwhile, the Grandmaster was speaking with the Mandalorian while Padawan Ka waited for them discreetly a short distance away. Ian gave a half hearted smile his way in way of thanks. He wanted to ask him how things had gone out there for him. Someone had defeated a Sith Lord out in the snowstorm, and he knew Ka had gotten much farther out than he had. So had Knight Trevalus, but he was busy with Master Kasumi. Knight Dareagen had also gotten out that far, and he had already defeated a Sith, maybe he was the one to talk to. Or maybe it was Knight Archisa. She had also been out on the forefront of the battle. Surely one of them had seen something.

Instead of approaching one of them, Ian took a step back. If he could have blended into the wall he would have. He couldn't ask either of them about these sorts of things. They were Knights and surely didn't have time for his silly questions...but she would. Ian blinked as the answer became clear to him. He would have to seek another audience with Darth Sixtus, only she understood him it seemed. Only she could answer the important questions that burned in his soul . He looked around the hangar bay. It would be a simple matter to slip out unnoticed and Master Kasumi didn't want to see him for another two hours. Plenty of time to try to get in a visit with Darth Sixtus, plenty of time to get the answers he really needed. Slowly, he began edging his way towards the door, hoping no one would see him leave.

Standing alone to one side Suraya observed the mingling of the returning Jedi with the rest of the Temple community, but only for a moment. The air was full of shared battle stories mixed with the suffering of the injured and the silence of the dead. It was surreal and overwhelming.

Collecting her thoughts she began to earnestly seek the nearest exit when suddenly she caught the fleeting facial expression of Zey’s padawan, whose name was still unknown to her. She knew that look, unfortunately, and it made her grimace to herself. Such intense loneliness and insecurity could compel someone of his age to do almost anything in the moment, if left to their own devices. Perhaps the downside of being the Grandmaster’s apprentice was that Zey was often simply too busy with Jedi affairs to be available to the youngster? She could only guess.

Suraya decided to follow him from a distance. She was willing to at least try to help him overcome the impulse to follow through with whatever act of desperation that was currently churning in his heart. Though she could not yet guess what it might be as she followed him, she recognized the familiarity of the corridors that lead to the Sith prisoners.

    Hangar Bay

Kasumi had requested to help Thrace train. There was much that he didn't understand, and she knew the look he had in his eyes. She needed to center herself to be the best that she could to help him. She could help him, but only if he wanted the help. Only if he wanted to open himself up to the balance. Yes the dark existed, but you could not have darkness without the light...and vice versa. In battles, in day to day life, one had to be aware of the balance. The Force needed the balance, as did all those who wielded it's power. Those that only leaned toward the light and forgot that the darkness existed opened themselves up to be caught off guard, those that only leaned towards the dark only let the anger, pain and fear live in them. Kasumi felt Thrace leave the hangar bay....and go towards a part of the Temple she had never been too. With each breath she took, she tried to keep a small eye on him through the Force. This was something he needed to do before meeting with her, and she knew that.
Kasumi felt Knight Trevalus join her. A small smile came over her lips. It was nice to have someone to work through this with. Sure she could begin to feel the Force Ghosts, which were great, but to actually have someone there with her was something she hadn't had in....years. She was so used to doing these forms herself, she forgot what it was like to sense someone else going through them with her. It was a nice feeling. She just kept working through them, one breath, one step, one form at a time.

The halls were dark and empty, and why not? It was still the middle of the night by Ian's reckoning when he and the others had returned from their ill fated missions. The darkness itself didn't bother Ian (indeed maybe it was the darkness itself which he sought, a thought that did stir within him some feelings of...discomfort), he was rather familiar with the routes to take down to the cells now, the route to see her.

There was something else familiar though, a feeling, from in front...no, from behind him. It felt like he was....being watched. He spun around quickly and ignited his lightsaber, illuminating the darkened corridor in it's blue light. "Who is it back there?" His frightened voice called out into the darkness beyond the light cast by his lightsaber. "Why are you following me?"

Temple Corridor leading to the Sith Prisoners

Suraya had always had a sort of soothing sisterly way about her. Even though she was only in her thirties, young men would often gravitate toward her and feel at ease in her presence, in a purely platonic spirit. So subtle and free of condescension was her demeanor, that even the anxiety ridden or testosterone charged would experience a sense of calmness in her company without any need of confrontation or embarrassment. In her mind, small slips of self-control were inevitable on the Jedi path for most aspirants and often left them feeling dangerously alienated.

So, when she saw the padawan ignite his blade and noticed the flush in his cheeks as he yelled out to her, she didn’t react, but instead responded with a gentle smile and placed her palm calmly upon his blade hand, lowering it for him and waiting for the wave of fear to wash over them.

Did you hear…three of the Sith Lords were killed during the attack? She made steady eye contact as she spoke.

If that didn’t work though, she wouldn’t hesitate to slap him, so as to come to his senses, or even disarm him if necessary.

They had their own disagreements on what was to come next, though Harbinger had convinced her on the necessity, if not the implementation of it. The death of Zelus of course meant the Jedi had her codes, the ones that would bring them passed the Hellfire's shields. There was no doubt of that, Harbinger had foreseen what her death would mean, and what would follow.

The Jedi would be coming for him next, to implant those codes in the brain of the Hellfire, to get them passed the ship's defenses. There was no denying it, no denying them, no denying destiny. He would fulfill his role, and they would fulfill theirs.

"Zelus, dead?" Taab could see the confusion, the despair in the General's (Hector Zey's) eyes and gave a simple nod in reply. There really was nothing more to say on the matter. It was a setback, a major setback, but the Jedi would have to improvise, adapt, overcome. Taab shrugged now, though his combined actions seemed to incense the general even more.
"Loother!" The General's voice echoed off the hanger bay walls, causing many Jedi to stop what they were doing to see what the commotion was about. "Where are you Loother?" The General pushed passed Taab looking around the hanger bay frantically. The Mandalorian could see now that padawan Ka, had been standing a discreet distance away, clearly he had business with either the General or himself. Probably the General. Taab gave the Falleen padawan a look as if to say 'good luck with that now", but remained otherwise impassive during the General's tirade.

Elsewhere in the hanger bay The Peacemaker (Master Piim) pursed her lips expressing her own dissatisfaction just as the General found Farmgirl (Knight Loother). He rushed over to her, his arms waving. "What were you thinking? We needed to take her alive! She's no good to us dead!" The Negotiator (Elim Rand) stepped in between the pair of them, though from watching her fight Taab knew that Farmgirl certainly didn't need anyone to fight her battles for her. It was in the Negotiator's nature to try to resolve differences through dialogue however.

Making sure to remain between the two he spoke calmly to the General. "Grandmaster, we have no idea the circumstances of their battle. I am sure Knight Loother felt she had no choice." Taab noted how the Negotiator had called Farmgirl by her rank while the General had not. "Let's hear what she has to say before exiling her from the Temple shall we?" He turned and gave Farmgirl a wink to show he was kidding about kicking her out. "Kambie," he continued on. "Why don't you tell us all what happened?"

    IC: Healer Susruta (NPC)
en route to infirmary, Temple of Light

Healer Susruta watched over Knight Durrant as the padawan pushed his repulsorlift gurney towards the infirmary. Knight Grissuk already there, she would need her legs amputated. The healer worried that there wouldn't be any cybernetic legs for her in the Temple's meager medical supplies and they would have to fashion a pair out of spare droid parts for now. Ugly, ugly business but he would have to wait and see what they had in the store rooms. For now he also had to worry about Durrant's back right. A cursory examination had shown it was broken in two places. Hopefully a few sessions with the healer, and a long term bacta dunk (it was the one thing the infirmary did have in ample supply) would have the pilot up and running (literally) soon enough. There had been other wounded as well, but those were minor compared to these two who would take up most of the medical staff's time. He had been the last of the wounded evacuated from the hanger bay,

With a moment to catch his breath as they made their way from the hanger bay to the infirmary, the Susruta turned his attention to the padawan pushing Knight Durrant's floating stretcher along. An Ongree, they had a reputation as diplomats and thinkers. Susruta had to wonder what was going through his mind right now, and where he saw his own place in what was to come. He thought hard, trying to remember his name. The Ithorian healer had basic files on just about everyone in the Temple now, Nos... Nosrep, yes that was it. Padawan Nosrep.

"Padawan," Susruta cleared his throat as he spoke, "thank you for your help with this task, mundane as it is." He guided them around a dark corner as they neared the infirmary. "Surely though this is not where your talent's lie." He gave the Ithorian approximation of a human smile, though it was perhaps not necessary with this uniquely alien being. "Tell me, what do you see yourself doing not only for the duration of this crisis but in your future as a Jedi."

    IC: Darth Cavillous (NPC)
Meditation Chamber, Star Destroyer Hellfire, in orbit over Saridona Prime

Darth Cavillous sat cross legged in the center of the meditation sphere, his eyes closed against the flickering lights. He had used up most of what little power reserves the Hellfire had left in his bombardment of the Sith camp on the planet's surface. Hopefully he had done enough to either kill Zelus outright, or at least seal her in her tomb. It had been his only option, one the Jedi had forced him into. It left him feeling out of control, a sensation he was unused to since his ascension to the rank of Sith Lord. He had always left himself options, alternative plans to accomplish his nefarious goals, but in that instant the Jedi had removed from him any other option, and now he was left with a crippled army, and no other Sith to lead what was left.

He had felt the death of Darth Zelus of course, but now as he sat meditating he began to feel as if it was not enough. He could not have allowed her capture of course, and he had prevented just that. She had the codes that could bring down the Hellfire's shields, if of course the Jedi could get Harbinger to cooperate. On that matter Cavillous was unsure.

Harbinger was Sith, but he was loyal. Even with the codes it was doubtful the Jedi could do anything to convince Harbinger to do anything against his will. But what if bringing down Cavillous was Harbinger's interest? Harbinger was loyal to his prophecies above all else. Could he be manipulated into believing that to serve those he had to betray his Master? The Dark Lord scowled. The Jedi couldn't have the codes, and even if they did, Harbinger wouldn't implant them. The Hellfire, was safe, as was Cavillous to plan his next move...

His eyes opened, the lights had fully gone out here now as power was shunted elsewhere. It was then that he realized that it didn't matter whether the Jedi found a way through the shields or not. They would be coming. It was time to prepare a warm welcome for them.

En rout to the infirmary, Temple of Light

It was getting late, and the Ongree was starting to feel the hours weigh on him. But as one of the few Jedi actually awake at this time of the night he knew it to be a duty of his to aid the sick and wounded however his limited skills might do so. Earlier he had been in the temple library contemplating his last lesson with his master, while also going through a millennia of historical documents just for fun. But when word began to spread that the strike team sent to infiltrate the Sith camp had returned, he had to go see for himself. He sped as quickly as his stiff legs would carry him, and arrived just as the wounded were being taken off the shuttle.

He had been astounded by the carnage, it seemed even those Jedi that were relatively unharmed were changed somehow, saddened, broken. The air was heavy here as he reached in the force, frustration boiled in even some of the masters minds, though they were well at masking the reasons behind it. Just then one of the masters pointed at him and asked him to aid the wounded, nodding carefully he went strait to work. Transporting bandages, and moving the patients to the medical ward.

Eventually it seemed the action had died down. Only one patient was left. He and another Padawan had carefully moved an injured knight onto a repulserlift gurney. With the settings placed at waste level, and the injured man strapped in, he carefully turned it towards the exit. He said goodbye to his fellow apprentice as he was called to another task on the other side of the hanger. The injuries looked sever, though he was no doctor, and the man seemed in constant pain, even through the sedatives. He began walking the gurney towards the hallway, only to realize a large Ithorian standing five feet away watching him. Was he there the whole time? The Ongree wondered. He took a couple seconds to recall this one was named Susruta, one of the Healers at the temple he believed. He gave a polite nod, and began the walk towards the med bay.

Soon it was apparent the Healer had entered into even step with him. As they rounded a corner the Ithorian began to speak. "Padawan, thank you for your help with this task, mundane as it is." They rounded another dark corner and began to commute down the long corridor. "Surely though this is not where your talent's lie." The Healer said smoothly. Yes, that was somewhat of an understatement. While he had a passable comprehension of basic first aid, the sight of blood actually made him somewhat squeamish. He was abled to set that aside for a moment so he could do his duty, but it certainly was not something he was called for. Susruta made a strange muscle movement in his facial features that looked anything but natural on his large hammer shaped head. "Tell me, what do you see yourself doing not only for the duration of this crisis but in your future as a Jedi." This was surprising, he was not use to be noticed in such a way before. He was content with being overlooked, and he wasn't sure what to think. As they glided around one last corner, finally approaching the med center Semajj knew he had to say something, the akward silence was even more agonizing then it perhaps should have been. "Uh.. well, thank you Healer Susruta, it was no problem really." He said somewhat quietly. "I was just doing what was right, I could help, so I did." That was something, but he hadn't answered Ithorians question, and he could sense that was what he was waiting for. "Well, I'm not really sure what I want to be. Most of my interest lye down the counselors path, Diplomat, archivist, and such... but, ahem." He cleared his throat a little. "Well, I don't wish to be overly reliant on the force alone, I don't wish to forsake my lightsaber skills for my force studies." He took a moment as they entered the med bay. "Well, I guess I have some time to sort my priorities." He grinned a little as some of the med staff came to take the wounded Jedi's Gurney off his hands. He didn't wish to be rude by instantly leaving, so he stood a momet waiting for the healers response.

    Hangar, Saridona Prime

Stepping off the shuttle Kai stands back trying to decompress. His muscles are sore, and becoming more so by the moment. He feels drained. Rand and Taab are talking the young knight is still trying to recover. Zey looks over and the Mandalorian approaches, removing his helmet.

    "How many?" the Grandmaster asks,

    "Only five survivors, including myself."

"What?" the word left him weak. So much death, and for what? A few broken droids, maybe a banished sith, was this all worth it. Something inside him is hurt, broken. When he came here he was handed the responsibility of hunting down the infiltrator, of protecting these Jedi, he thinks back to Zoe, to Aroon. His failures, the young padawan's grey eyes still hunt him. He made a commitment to protect those that fought with him. He had failed again. He feels like he's been in a haze since his victory over Praedator. Not really focusing on what was happening around him the decisions made the plans that fell apart. He feels that if only he had been in a different frame of mind thing might have gone differently.

This mission was supposed to end the threat, to finally liberate them from the dark tyranny that had set in. Had they done that. Had their mission been a success? Then the news comes that shatter's that illusion.

"Zelus, dead?" Kai's eyes go wide. No, the mission was to take her alive. How? "Loother!" Zey calls out. Kai looks around. He'd never met this Jedi but, he at least had some idea of what she looked like. He follows the Grandmaster eager to be proven wrong. "What were you thinking?" A very animated Zey says upon spotting the Knight, "We needed to take her alive! She's no good to us dead!"

"Grandmaster," Rand intercedes with his trademark charm, "we have no idea the circumstances of their battle. I am sure Knight Loother felt she had no choice." Kai didn't feel any anger, only more pain. The sadly familiar pain of failure. The fatigue starts to fully take over him. He can't stay, no matter how justified the reasons, he can't listen. He can't continue to wallow in this feeling.

"Excuse me." He says moving quickly for the exit. He was following the Healer Susruta, Kai had spent more than a little time in the infirmary recovering from his injuries. It has become something of a safe place for him. The meditation gardens hold too much, they were the place where Zoe was slain, where his ineptitude showed itself in all its glory. He couldn't be at peace there. However the infirmary, there he could maybe start to make since of all of this.

He hangs his head, letting out a deep breath. He needs some distance, that's what he needs.

Would she tell the Grandmaster to bug off or bow down and give him the good news? Before Kambie could make her decision two more Jedi rushed over.

It was Master Piim and Knight Rand. Knight Rand addressed Grandmaster Zey first, "Grandmaster, we have no idea the circumstances of their battle. I am sure Knight Loother felt she had no choice. Let's hear what she has to say before exiling her from the Temple shall we?” Then her turned to her. “Kambie. Why don't you tell us all what happened?"

Kambie had decided she would talk when she was ready. “Thank you, Knight Rand.” She said genuinely. Then Kambie turned to Grandmaster Zey. She brought her hand up and mock waved it in the air. He was a Grandmaster Kambie obviously wasn’t going to overpower his mind, but she could have some fun with him. “You will ask me nicely for the information you seek.”

It was Knight Archisa, Ian knew of her, though he wasn't sure if they had ever been properly introduced. So much had happened recently, and he was so confused by it all. He raised his lightsaber over his head further, not in a threatening manner, but to better illuminate the dark hallway. Knight Archisa came closer, maintaining eye contact with him. She was safe, she was a Jedi. The Temple was a safe zone now, Knight Dareagen had seen to that. He was safe here Ian reminded himself as she spoke calmly settling Ian's frayed nerves.

"Did you hear...three of the Sith Lords were killed during the attack?"

Three? Ian lowered his blade and turned it off, she was close enough now that they didn't need the extra light to see one another. He didn't know there had been that many out there. He knew some had been there, but three, and killed? Ian shook his head slowly. "I had...hadn't heard that master Archisa," he said with a short bow. He was still confused and now even more questions flooded his mind. "I'm sorry, I wasn't ...myself during the battle." He looked at her sheepishly before dropping his gaze to her feet. "Who, how?"

    I'm sorry, I wasn't ...myself during the battle....Who, how?

As they exchanged relaxed introductions Suraya addressed Ian's statements in reverse order, sharing with him what she knew of the trio of Siths’ demise in the forest. She also answered his questions and related the relevant things she had seen during the battle as they continued walking together in the direction of the brig.

Whatever he had done on the battlefield, she had not witnessed it, nor did she intuitively feel that it was hers but his Master’s place to sift through the details with the young padawan at a later time. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t be willing to share her own perspective if asked or take the time to listen to what they youngster needed to get off of his fear-riddled chest at the moment though.

She then cocked her head to one side and lowered her gaze playfully upon him...What did you do...accidentally dismember one of your fellow padawans with your laser sword during the battle? She then squinted slightly, leaning forward while reading his expression before she kept going...Perhaps you spent most of the fight safely hiding in the branches of some tree?

Surya then feigned a change of mood and slowly removed her lightsaber and lowered her stare on Ian all the while keeping her expression perfectly deadpan. It’s you…you’re the Sith Lord we have been looking for…the real one behind this entire invasion.

There right beside him had been padawan Ka, patiently waiting for his own turn to address the Grand Master. She could feel he was...not distraught, she would save such terminology for a padawan more of Thrace's ilk than Ka, but he was concerned about something.

She sidled up to the padawan silently, her bare feet making no noise on the hard thermocrete surface of the hanger bay. “Thank you, Knight Rand.”

Taab watched as the Negotiator (Knight Rand) bowed deeply in response to Farmgirl (Knight Loother). His action had been predictable from what Taab knew of him, what came next though surprised him.

“You will ask me nicely for the information you seek.” Taab watched incredulously as she waved her hand in the air, as if using some shabla spoonbending trick on him. He wasn't tuned into the force, so he didn't know if she was being facetious or not, but The General (Hector Zey) was not amused. In fact he seemed furious. "Why you little, I'm the Gra..." he yelled as spittle flew from his mouth. "Ahem," the Negotiator gave a little cough interrupting him, a bemused look on the Jedi Knight's face.

The General turned bright red and yelled over at Taab. "What happened? You were there, you tell me!" Taab yawned, sharing the same bemused expression as the Negotator. Farmgirl had really gotten to the general, and despite the loss of their primary objective, the acquisition of Darth Zelus, Taab was enjoying this. Shrugging he finally replied, "Darth Zelus attacked while we were defending the downed shuttle. I tried to engage but she deflected the shots and attacked Farmgirl. After that another wave of droids hit us and I was too busy fending them off to notice what was going on over there until it was already over." The general continued to glare at him and Taab replaced his buy'ce (helmet) over his head so no one could see the smile creeping onto his face. "You want to know what happened to Zelus, how she died, you're going to have to ask her," he pointed at Farmgirl.

The General looked away from Taab at at the Jedi Knight, he was beyond furious now but he began to breath in deeply, visibly trying to calm himself though it didn't seem to have much effect. "Loother," he barked at her, but there was another cough from Knight Rand which caught the General's attention. "Excuse me, Knight Loother," he said more calmly through clenched teeth, emphasizing her rank. "Would you kindly tell me," Taab cocked his head to one side, "tell us," Taab gave a slight nod. To his way of thinking that was at the core of what made for a good Jedi, the desire to do something to help others in need. It didn't answer his question though. "Well, I'm not really sure what I want to be. Most of my interest lye down the counselors path, Diplomat, archivist, and such... but, ahem." Susruta's eyes gleamed. This one knew himself already, it was not a universal trait among padawans. So many still had to find themselves, but padawan Nosrep seemed to have already done that. It was an excellent step in the right direction. "Well, I don't wish to be overly reliant on the force alone, I don't wish to forsake my lightsaber skills for my force studies." They entered the infirmary and the medical droid, Serjon took the repulsor gurney into his own care. "Well, I guess I have some time to sort my priorities."

Susruta nodded his understanding, keeping a watchful eye on Serjon before replying. "Your path is what you make of it, I am a healer yes, but also a Jedi Knight..." He trailed off, the point he was about to make forgotten as he sensed the approach of another, one familiar to him. One not at peace with himself. Turning slowly he greeted Knight Dareagen as he arrived unannounced in the medical bay.

In a calm soothing Voice Healer Susruta responded to his answer. "Your path is what you make of it, I am a healer yes, but also a Jedi Knight..." young Semajj could feel the sincerity of the Ithorians words ripple in the force. They were wise words indeed, yet he noticed something else had just occupied the Healers attention at the moment. He turned to see an athletically built Human male slightly older than himself entering through the medical bay doors. He held a strong presence in the force, though he also felt a great outpouring of grief from the man. Upon seeing him Healer Susruta seemed to instantly forget the conversation He was having with Semajj. "Knight Dareagen, Kai." the Ithorian Jedi said with a simple bow. "I didn't see your name on any of the casualty lists. Are you well? Are your injuries flaring up?"

Wait did he hear correctly he wondered as he focused on the human. "Kai Dargeagen?" the youthful Ongree muttered as his eye's nearly bulged off their stalks. "The Kai Dargeagen? You're the one who killed the Sith who infiltrated the Temple of Light!" He yelled in amazement. "Your the one who saved the Grand Master, who saved all of us!" Just then his senses returned, and with them a strong inclination towards embarrassment. Flustered slightly he took a step back and did a bow that was perhaps too elaborate. "Your a hero Master Dargeagen" was all that he could manage as his he felt his eye stalks withdraw somewhat, a telltale sign of how awkward he felt. As he looked between the two Jedi, especially at Susruta hoping the friendly Healer might say something and draw attention away from the foolish Padawan who all of a sudden couldn't keep his mouth shut long enough to show respect, he felt his nervousness rise.

Zurros knew he would not get to speak with the GM until later, the look that had passed between himself and Taab, had told him that. But this display from the GM was beyond foolish, he was their leader, yet here he was scolding someone like they were a youngling. It is actions like this that could unravel an army, perhaps the next time they are out in the field, the GM's life will depend on the Knight he is chastising now. Would she fight hard knowing that this is the treatment she could expect to receive? Zurros doubted this display would have that kind of long term ramifications, emotions were high and all could probably be resolved before the day is out.

"Padawan, You seem most troubled, is everything all right?"

A soft voice tore his attention away from the altercation, he turned to see a Jedi Master standing before him. Bowing deeply he replied: 'I am indeed Master, I was hoping to speak with the GM about this but he seems . . . otherwise engaged' Unclipping the Shotos from his belt he held them out to her. 'I took these from Darth Velerius after I killed her.' Zurros felt a lump appear in his throat and his eyes moisten. Choking them back he continued 'During the course of the battle I opened myself up to the dark side, broke a promise to a deceased Jedi and used a lightening attack, toward the conclusion of my battle with the Sith I opened myself up to the peace that is the Light Side and it was that which gave me the edge to strike the killing blow. But my actions should not go unpunished and I am prepared to accept whatever disciplinary action is deemed neccessary.'

Taking a deep breath he awaited a response, no matter the result it had felt good to unburden himself.

"The Kai Dargeagen?" The Ongree nearly yelled, Kai is unaware that his name rated a definite article. "You're the one who killed the Sith who infiltrated the Temple of Light!" the knight sits with a heavy sigh in an empty chair. "You're the one who saved the Grand Master, who saved all of us!" He could have noticed the other being's embarrassment but, Kai's head is looking down. He didn't feel like a savoir, this mission had failed the siege remains in place. "You're a hero Master Dareagen"

That is the final stab of pain in his heart , he is no hero, he was just happened to come across the monster when he was hunting. Also he is far from a master a rank he feels he'll never reach. Though his heart is pained, the padawan's exuberance brought a smile to his face.

With a little chuckle, the knight leans back, "I am far from a master padawan, I'm just a knight." He lets out another breath resting his elbows on his knees. "And I was just doing what any Jedi would have done, fight against an evil that had infiltrated your home." He puts a hand on his chest where he was run through. "I nearly didn't survive. ...I’m a Jedi...well a Padawan trying to become a Jedi.

Yes...she paused dropping the charade at hearing Ian's words, feeling her heart unexpectedly fill with delight, yes you are.

Suraya then beamed him a compassionate smile. Close your eyes...can you feel it...the certainty of what you just said...as it resonates through the Force?

She paused for him to absorb the moment with her own eyes closed as well before continuing.

Once my Master told me that sometimes one must fan the flames of one’s fear...in order to overcome it...even add fuel to the fire so that it can exhaust and burn itself out. Though we are told fear is a path to the dark side, everyone experiences it. Everyone. She let her look linger on him thoughtfully.

Fear of fear is the greater obstacle. So subtle. Plus the shame and embarrassment of feeling weak. But, each time we confront one little anxiety, our unity with the Force increases. A little humor can aid us in that way...along with a few trusted companions.

Well, I’ve probably said too much...and please forgive me for my playfulness before, though hopefully now you understand my motives for being so. These are lessons I am still learning myself. She placed her hand on his shoulder and gave it a sympathetic squeeze.

I may continue on to the stockade...care to accompany me?
