As she neared the turbo lift he veered off, setting his course for the stairs. Right now he could not handle standing still with the conundrum. Sadly he missed what her name was, or could no longer remember it. With one last look back toward the Grand Masters? he took the stairs, first one, then two, then three, until he was nearly taking a flight of stairs with each bound.

Whatever the med-bay had pumped into him, he was feeling much better, and as he moved he felt that feeling of rightness once more infuse his being. He was meant to move, and to think within the motions.

Before long he exited the stairs and took the short hallway around and out into the hanger at a trot. As he came to a stop with the others that had re-gathered he kept his silence as his trunk lift in a salutary greeting.

The "wouldn't be good" line had Alec glancing towards Gaan again. Remembering how distracted she seemed to be just a moment ago, Alec couldn't help but wonder what, exactly, had been so distracting for her. Obviously, whatever it was, the Guardian had not put it behind her.

There seems to be a lot of issues concerning the members of this organization, Alec thought to himself as he resumed just staring straight ahead. 'Specifically when it comes to its latest members.

There was Dovey and her attachment to her sister obviously. And, with Gaan's input, Alec was quite sure that Dovey had not trained with the Guardians. So if she could command the Force - and Alec was quite sure that she could despite not seeing her display her powers -, how did she get the training for it? And the lightsaber... Gaan, of course, was distracted with something else and with Mandalorians running around beating up Padawans - and Alec would assume that the beaten Padawan may be reeling from that as well -, the young Jedi couldn't help but inwardly sigh. As much as he would like to believe that the Guardians could possibly be a reliable extension of the Jedi Order and, more importantly, the Force, he was worried about its members.

Being cut off from the Order and the Galactic Alliance, stationed out here in the Unknown Regions, who knew what could've happened here. What they may've faced and, more importantly, what they had to turn to, to survive. The recruitment and selection of their members being my deepest concern.

It was something that was going to turn up eventually: were the Guardians a group that could be trusted to uphold all that they wish to imitate of the Jedi Order? Too early to tell and it'll probably be quite a while before he could get a good judgement.

Fortunately, at least one of Alec's fears was immediately put to rest. Upon the turbolift doors opening, he was happy to see that Dovey had actually not gone on her own without back-up. In fact, with her lightsaber in hand and waiting an equal distance between the lifts and her ship, it seemed like she had been waiting for them. That, at least, relieved him.

While Dovey and Gaan traded a few words, Alec turned his head upon sensing another presence. A familiar one at that and Alec was similarly relieved to see Hochner on his feet and apparently capable of exploring some ruins. Lowering his head a centimeter in greetings, Alec focused back at the topic at hand.

"We could scout ahead on our own," he offered to the discussion. "There are other ships here and they can join us as soon as they've been gathered."

One of the other Jedi that Gaan didn't know had arrived while she spoke to Dovey. She nodded to him as Alec suggested, "We could scout ahead on our own. There are other ships here and they can join us as soon as they've been gathered."

"True, but Master Cytei is supposed to lead this operation, and I'll be held responsible if we leave without permission, as the only Guardian here." Gaan stood silent, deep in thought, for a moment. Finally, she added, "Though getting myself in trouble would be nothing new. If all three of you think that's the wisest course of action, you can count me in."

IC: Rid Malt - Chuunthor II

As Rid relayed the message and coordinates to the Chuunthor's bridge, he immediately collapsed onto the floor after ending the transmission. On the bridge, the commander followed through with his orders and placed the information into the navicomputer. As the Chuunthor changed it's course, there was hope on the bridge that the crew would find solace in wherever it was Rid had instructed them to go.

Meanwhile, Rid was out like a light on his floor, and found little comfort in it. His mind in his "rest" was giving him little relaxation. Terrible dreams swirled about within him, causing him great discomfort. Though in any other circumstance they would cause him to thrash about, his tired form, exhausted from all the energy he had put out during the last battle, would disallow him much movement. Subconsciously, his body would lie still to regain any strength it could possibly gather through both the Force and from just plain rest...what little rest he was getting anyway.

The dreams he had were of the battle, only they were not the same outcome. The Chuunthor and it's crew were having little success against their pirate enemies, and little by little the Jedi were being wiped out. Rid could do nothing to turn the tide of battle. All his strategies that had been successful were failing. Everything was failing. And as the Jedi were pounded, the Dark Siders appeared, only to join the pirates in the slaughter, and only to show Rid more distress. The boarding party made short and bloody work of the crew, and no matter how much Rid begged Gaan for help she rejected him Then when he was captured and brought before the Dark Siders, Rid would face the reason why Gaan would not answer...she was the one leading the attack, and she would torture Rid, showing great pleasure in it. As Rid begged for her to stop, she would just laugh and continue on stronger than before.

What was not helping matters was Rid had no recollection of the battle. That they had won, that she had helped, and that she was not responsible. In this nightmare he only knew what was going on now, and what had taken place earlier was non-existent.

Motionless on the floor, Rid was unaware that the Chuunthor had finally exited it's trek to the location Gaan had instructed Rid to go. The tattered but still-going-strong ship had reached it's destination and awaited the next event to follow.

Loctation: tie x1 advanced, also known as 'my baby' or 'that hunk of junk', depending on your stance on antiques

Darth Helinith spun around, her x1 advanced groaning slightly at the tight angle, and she began chasing the Tie interceptor that was trying to lose her.
In the chase, she pulled close to the pirate vessels, looking them over. They were rather damaged but still space worthy. All looked fairly inconspicuous and rather boring and she had no idea what the models were, apart from the Blur. Force, that thing was ancient. Which was probably what triggered the idea in her brain, well that and her apprentice mentioning tractor beams.

"We could capture these ships using our Tractor Beams and use them to sneak into the system and disable any resistance. Then we could have the Dark Child hidden a short jump away and call her in if we need backup."

    Loctation: The Dark Child

Mal listened silently to the votes that his other fellow sith were throwing out there. Even Jusick seemed to have lost his initial inspiration and imagination, which was a shame. He perked up a little when Helinith's voice joined the fray.
"We could capture these ships using our Tractor Beams and use them to sneak into the system and disable any resistance. Then we could have the Dark Child hidden a short jump away and call her in if we need backup."
"That's a great idea, Helinith. Power to the tractor beams, let's pull in those ships with hyperdrives. I trust that Mystique and her apprentice can clean up the two tie interceptors that are left. Helinith I need you back here. Jusick and I are going to need some help cleaning the pirates out of their precious little ships."

"If you insist, Mal. And don't forget you promised me that explanation."
Darth Helinith broke off her chase, slightly annoyed, and pulled her craft around, speeding back towards the Dark Child.

Clearing his trunk at the turn of conversation, and disregard that he was a Guardian, albeit one currently out of touch with what has happened in their part of the galaxy. ?If I may?? he tentatively put forth a hand palm down, waiting for a brief moment he nodded and turned it over to signal his beginning comment.

?We are speaking of scouting something that has separately paused two Master?s, one of whom was a Grand Master of this order. Do we truly believe it wise to rush with only us three to these ruins? I will side with the remaining majority.? Feeling a slight flutter in his chest and trunk from those spoken words, and the unspoken that he had been one ?paused? he felt, anxious. A step away from fear he knew, and feeling on the brink was most disconcerting. Not even a sith had made him this nervous.

    Hangar Bay

Dovey's lips twitched, but not into a smile. Ten minutes or more had already passed and she felt that all she'd done was stand around so far. She needed movement. Wanted it. Dovey was about to step forward but she settled for tapping her pants leg a moment as Hochner joined them. Since all he did was to 'wave' she figured that she might as well continue. As she spoke, she shifted from foot to foot, eager to get things going. Making eye contact one by one with all of the people there, lastly Alec, Dovey said, "I like that plan, Alec. Let's take my ship, it has plenty of space for all of us to fit."

Dovey took a deep breath. She had just invited a group of strangers onto her personal ship. This was something she would not have done in the past and it surprised her a little now. But it makes sense that we take mine, doesn't it? At least then I'll have some say over how things go.

Without waiting for an answer she started off towards her ship, drawing out her necklace from under her collar. Once she had it clear, she tilted her head down to look at it. It was not usual for her to do this but she wanted a moment to herself and this was how she accomplished it. The little circle pendant was familiar between her fingers and she held it tightly until she started to twist until it was exactly opposite of what it had been. Dovey sighed and the ship's ramp opened.

Alec listened to both Gaan and Hochner's objections and he nodded slowly. Both of them did have good points but, as the minutes ticked away and there had yet to be another Guardian to meet them, even his own patience was being marginally tested. However, it was Dovey who was the deciding factor. It was difficult to not notice how impatient she was. Instead of sensing it with the Force, all he had to do was glance in her direction and see her tapping her pants leg and shifting her feet as she spoke. Not surprising, she agreed with his idea of going now and waiting for the others.

That did it then. Without waiting for an answer from any of them, the young woman turned and made her way to her ship. Alec looked to Gaan and Hochner but his own decision had already been made. If Dovey really wasn't a Guardian, then she wasn't obligated to follow the orders of even the Grand Master. And if she wanted to go, then there was really nothing that could be done to stop her.

And I'm not a Guardian either, he reminded himself. He did not possess any of the restrictions that were currently held over Gaan. But Hochner had a good point about the dangers that could possibly be found. ...Which would be a reason in itself to make sure that Dovey didn't go off on her own.

Looking to Hochner and Gaan again, he gave them both a small shrug before following Dovey. If they wanted to come, they could decide for themselves. They had their own obligations though and Alec was in no position to try and persuade them from possibly going against orders. Coming behind the sister of the former Grand Master, Alec paused and tilted his head to get a better look at something that Dovey was currently fiddling with. He couldn't see what it was but the ramp of her ship dropping down gave him an excuse to step around her, as if going to board the ship, but really just to give him a better view of what it was in her hand.

A necklace. Just a necklace with a small pendant hanging from it. He didn't bother to ask what it was, choosing to keep any questions to himself for now.

"Might as well get started," Alec instead decided to say as he walked up the ramp and into the interior of her ship.

Gaan watched Dovey board her ship, then looked over at the other two. Alec shrugged slightly, then followed the woman onto her ship. Then her eyes fell on the last Jedi. She duplicated Alec's shrug, and stepped onto the ramp after the others.

She just caught Alec's suggestion that they get moving, and followed him deeper into the ship. "The Grand Master is going to kill me." She accompanied the words with a half-hearted smirk as she glanced around for the nearest seat.

Shaula paused for a moment in the main room of the Jedi quarters, glancing around at all of the closed doors. Where were all of the others when they were needed? She and Knight Malt had been almost completely alone in the battle, save for the faithful pilots and bridge crew...

She drew a deep breath, glanced around once more, and turned on her heel to leave. There were more important things to do than plead with the Jedi to stand together now, after the battle. She headed for the bridge, realizing that she needed to have the others report to her, rather than to the administrator. She sent the message to their datapads as she stepped onto the bridge. Looking up, she paused in surprise. They had come out of hyperspace, and a planet was before them. Quickly making her way to the bridge commander's side, Shaula inquired, "Where are we, commander?"

Josch was fairly familiar with the history of the Galactic Defenders and the Force War against the New Sith Order. His droid companion, Navi, had been working on reconstructing the historical records of both the Defenders and the Guardians. She had shared with him the fact that there had been a Grand Master named Corran Starthorne, but she had yet to uncover details of his past or his personal life outside of the Order.

It was slightly jarring to hear that he had been a Sith at one time, but then again, who hasn?t felt the tempting call of the darkness. Josch had walked that line a few times, but had not allowed it to dominate his destiny. ?We all have made mistakes in our lives Miria. I am sure that despite falling to the darkness for a time that Corran was a good man.?

There were so many questions that he wanted to ask of the gatekeepers of the holocron, but right nowa all he wanted to do was spend some more time with Miria. He really wanted to know more of her story and what happened during the Force Cold War of 100 ABY.

He took her hand in his own and gently stroked the back of it with his other hand. ?Tell me, Miria, what happened when the Defenders returned to the New Jedi Order during the Cold War? What did you do??

Things had quieted down in the TCC following the brief conflict between Ian and Alisha. He had gone back to watching the monitors spread around the TCC, waiting for the first indication of anything out of the ordinary heading towards the Temple. He still couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was after them all, and that whatever it was, it was coming. Soon.

He hadn't been able to look Alisha in the eye after their...incident. He knew he had done a terrible wrong, something that she would probably never forgive him for. How could he have attacked his only friend here at the Temple? How could he attack anyone really? He usually tried to shy away from any sort of conflict, he had never started one before, and certainly never one like that. For a moment he had been prepared to kill her! That certainly wasn't like him at all. He wondered if the vision they had all shared had somehow influenced him. Or maybe it was the beatdown Ryi had performed on him before the Mandalorians had left? He didn't know, but he did know that he wasn't acting like his normal self.

He stretched out with the force, he could sense that the council meeting had broken up. He could feel beings, parting ways and going in seperate directions. He wasn't skilled enough to be able to tell who or where everyone was, but it was enough to tell him that their discussions were over. That meant that someone would be headed to the TCC to check up on he and Alisha. Probably Grandmaster Decinchi himself. Ian was sure he had felt at least some of what had gone on in the TCC, he was very in tune with his padawan. Ian once again felt the fear creeping into him, he didn't know what the Grandmaster would do once he found out the full extent of what had happened. Incarceration? Banishment? Ian was certain his days of training to become a Jedi were at an end.

He hung his head low, unable to speak to Alisha and feeling every bit the failure that he knew that he was.

Alisha had said nothing after her fight with Ian. Between the growing pain in her side, and her own boiling anger, she didn't dare to speak. Ian had attacked her! He seemed ready and willing to kill her! Ian's feeble attempt of an apology did nothing to calm her.

She knew her Master was well in tune with her emotions already; he could probably sense her rage. But in her current state she scarcely cared. Alisha knew well how dangerous some emotions could be, and she was beginning to fear she may do something she would regret. She briefly thought back to the fight. She had Ian disarmed, and defenseless in a matter of seconds. She could have easily killed him right then.

I almost wish I did-- Alisha quickly shook her head, and scolded herself. What just went through her head was downright evil...

//....Master...// she said through her force bond. Even though she didn't say anything physically, she could hear herself sounding strained. // I... I need your help...your guidance. Please! //

Miria smiled when Josch accepted Corran's history. It made her feel easier. "He wasn't always accepted by my fellow jedi and friends when he turned to the light side of the force. I'm glad that his memory is." Miria felt that she had to tell Josch a very important event in her past. "During that time, after Corran switched sides, his master, Darth Despicable chose to target me specifically. He was enraged that I had turned his apprentice. At one point he convinced me he wanted to 'forsake the dark side,' as he put it. I met him in the gardens and took his hand at which point, his sith magic took effect and he was able to force me to endure, to live through, all of his rage, hate and viciousness. It nearly killed me. During my recovery, which was significantly helped by Corran, my mind was corrupted by the Dark Lord. He forced me to attack Corran. I stabbed him. It didn't kill him and I and a few other healers working together were able to heal him. We finally destroyed Dispicable, but not after considerable losses." Miria spoke carefully, not allowing herself to become emotional over the past.

When Josch took her hands in his she looked down at them momentarily, admiring Josch's lightly tanned hands against her own golden ones. Differences like that made her smile when she could take the time to enjoy them. Josch continued on to ask her about the Cold War in 100ABY and she paused for a moment, sifting through her own history and that of the Galactic Defenders. The precise time the Galactic Defenders joined the main branch of the jedi order." Miria paused for a moment and then continued, "My personal history with the group went back a few years. During a brief time on Corellia, I was separated from my master. I got very lost and was attacked. Alexander Rendush, who later became the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, saved me. He brought me into CorSec and my master found me there.

Years later, after time spent alone seeing visions and wandering through the galaxy, I came to learn about a man named Alex who had become the Grand Master. I made it a point to look into the Jedi Order as often as possible. My curiosity drew me in and I came to learn that it was indeed him. He was a very close friend and it was wonderful to be among familiar, friendly faces once more.

Only a short time after rejoining the order, I was attacked and kidnapped by a sith named Tantric Vos. His master, whose name I do not know, sent him to kidnap me in order to lure Alex away from the order. But it didn't work. Before Tantric could make another jump through hyperspace, Alex in his ship and a few others found us. They used tractor beams and during the distraction I was able to knock Tantric unconscious. I was freed and he became a prisoner. I stayed with the order for a bit longer and then the visions of the Massacre of Ossus started to drift through my consciousness. At that time I chose to meditate deeply, and chose to do that aboard my own ship."

As the others entered her ship, Dovey walked past them towards the short hallway leading to the cockpit. She slipped her necklace back underneath her shirt and patted it to make it secure. The grey interior, she supposed, was probably what they expected from a ship, although there were places on the walls and floors that showed its age. She turned to look back at them. Each found a seat and the corner of her mouth turned up when she thought of how her ship was finally being used for something good, other than survival.

Dovey nodded to those who looked in her direction before saying, "I'll get the coordinates of the ruins and then we're off." She turned but then turned back. "Anyone who cares to join me in the one other pilot's seat is welcome." She didn't know how it would be to have a 'co-pilot' of sorts, but it couldn't hurt. With that, Dovey turned, went to the cock-pit and sat in her familiar seat. She locked in the coordinates and started the engines. Once she was ready, they took off in the Ancient Haven, the hangar bays top opening to release them.

As he listened to her recall what happened to her prior to their first meeting, he found it disturbing that she was the constant focus of attacks by the Sith and the apparent inability of her current relationships to prevent them from abducting her.

Corran?s former Master was able to circumvent all Defender security to get to Miria and inflict considerable pain and suffering upon her. He even got her to attack the man she loved. Such power was alarming. He wondered if there was a way for her to share this experience with him through the Force so they might find a defense against it should another SIth try the same on another Jedi.

Then there was this new name, Alexander Rendush. Josch had been studying the joint history of the Guardians and the Defenders, but the period during the Force Cold War was still a mystery. Alex had obviously been a leading member of the group known as the New Jedi Trials since he could not be found in the archives of the Guardians. He was curious as to the full nature of Miria?s relationship with this Alex.

So who was this Alex to her? Did she have a relationship with him as well? Josch was not jealous, but once again she had ended up in the clutches of a Sith and she had been in Alex?s care. How does this keep happening to her? Is there some kind of weakness that she hasn?t shared with me? Those questions were for a future conversation.

Before he could delve even further into Miria?s past he felt his Padawan calling, no pleading, for him to come and assist her. He stood up and helped Miria up from her seat. He enfolded her into his arms and gave her a tender kiss on the cheek. Then he whispered softly into her ear, ?I love you and will protect you with all of my abilities.? He pulled back from her and felt Alisha calling once more, ?I think we need to go to the Tactical Center and deal with the Padawans, what do you say??

Voj and Jaxon just looked at Taab who had his back to the storage closet that the Cabur?ika had been hiding in with the four Gett?ike. Slowly the four little ones came out into the light. All of them, three boys and a girl, were all under the age of six standard years.

Jaxon was the one to answer Taab?s question, ?Well, Gramps, we?re all good-to-go, but these four are not ?combat ready?.? It was obvious why Jaxon needed to come back and rescue them. So that left just Voj, Jaxon, and Taab to assault the fixed gun emplacement. Voj pulled up the map once more and just to re-orientate himself.

Taab didn't even turn around to look at the four younglings as they emerged from their hiding place. Instead he saw them in the 360 degree coverage offered by his buy'ce. A few eyeblinks later and they had all been "tagged" as Packages 1 through 4.

?Well, Gramps, we?re all good-to-go, but these four are not ?combat ready?.? Taab took no offense to the nickname. He was after all a grandfather, he doubted any other member of the GoL could say the same for themselves. Besides he admired the kid's gett'se for coming back with a nickname of his own so quickly. Most didn't do that. Junior was also right, the packages would have to be escorted out of here, they were too young to help out in the assault on the gun position that was keeping them trapped here.

Taab watched as Bucko pulled out his holo-map of the base again. ?Alright, from what I remember the cannon was placed just inside the main entrance. So we might be able to use a ?magnet? to draw their attention while the rest of us attack from their flank. What do you think Sarge??

"Makes sense." Motioning to Bucko he continued on. "Lets you and I clear the corridors ahead like we did when we outflanked the pair of Tangos earlier. I will take the near corridor and you can take the long again. We can meet back up where the corridors rejoin." Now he pointed to the kids. "Than Junior here and the packages can catch up to us there. That way we make sure we have cleared the area and no one can sneak up on our flanks."

Now he knelt on one knee and pointed to the map, placing his finger on the next intersection, one branch led to the gun emplacement, the other out to the main corridor. "We move together to that point and leave Junior and the kids there." He nodded to Bucko again. "You can take the branch that leads to the gun while I keep straight and act as bait when I come to the main line." He looked to the younger Journeyman knight now. "Junior here can act as a reserve and help out either of us if we get into trouble." Taab stood back up, checking his gear and weapon, indicating he was ready to move out.

Gaan glanced up to acknowledge Dovey as she turned back to them, then returned her nod. "I'll get the coordinates of the ruins and then we're off."

Gaan nodded and started to look over at the other Jedi who she didn't know, when Dovey turned back. "Anyone who cares to join me in the one other pilot's seat is welcome." Gaan glanced at the other two, then rose and followed Dovey into the cockpit, arriving just as the other woman seated herself.

As Gaan made her way over to the other seat, she could see Dovey was preparing the ship for takeoff. Rather than interfere and possibly upset her, Gaan sat down silently, and waited for the other woman to complete her preparations before speaking. In the meantime, she studied the control panel in front of where she sat so that she could be useful should it be necessary.

Dovey glanced up as the woman named Gaan a moment and then finished her start up. When the coordinates were locked in Dovey and the whole crew took off towards the ruins. As she adjusted her course to get there as soon as possible, she spoke up. "Your name is Gaan right? How long have you been at the temple?" She didn't know what else to do with another person in the cockpit with her but figured that it would be more awkward if it was completely silent versus having a conversation going. She wasn't exactly a 'people person' but it would do.

Alec heard Dovey's offer for one of them to go to the cockpit with her but he chose not to follow up on it. Besides, the last time he had been in a cockpit, he crashed. Granted, the condition of the ship he had been piloting upon trying to land was pretty deplorable but...he had a hand in that too.

Remaining in the back, Alec settled himself down and...waited. There wasn't exactly much that he could do on this vessel other then wait for it to take off and fly towards the ruins. And with a starship, these ruins - wherever they were - couldn't possibly be far enough for the journey to be particularly long. Alec entertained the thought of possibly asking questions to Hochner to perhaps learn something else of the Guardians but he ruled it out as a lost cause. Hochner, being a recent arrival just like him, would have little to say about the current workings of the Guardians.

The young Jedi was ready to just simply lean back in his chair and let his mind drift off into meditation if not for a sudden thought that brought up something else that he could do. Sitting a tad straighter at that, a hand drifted into the folds of his robes, searching for the square, leather cover. There. Pulling the book out, Alec held it up in front of his face as he did at the library, his fingers trailing along the title.

    The Jedi Path.

This was something that he could occupy his thoughts with; a look into the Jedi of the past. Of how, when the Sith had existed not too long ago, the Jedi had acted and what ideals they had followed. Marriage and love, of course, was the all-too common forbidden act of the Jedi but what other practices had they followed? Knowledge that was currently not as wide-spread as it was with the current Order? Even though he had been given formal training upon reuniting with the Order, there was no doubt a lot that he still needed to learn.

But then again, when is someone, even a Jedi, incapable of learning more?

With that thought in mind, Alec opened the book, revealing the pages that he immediately started to read.

As Josch stood up and drew her to her feet, Miria waited until he had finished speaking before replying. "I will always feel safe when I am with you." Having said that she nodded in agreement with Josch and they both turned to leave the room and make their way towards the Tactical Center and the two padawans who were manning it. As they left the room, Miria held one of Josch's hands in hers securely in hers, contemplating the current situation.

Miria's thoughts turned to wondering what the future held. Her thoughts of the future led her to ask, "What do you know of the goings on in the galaxy at large in the past six years?"

"Yes, that's right. And yours is Dovey, correct? I've only been at the Temple for a few months.... Actually, I've sort of lost track, but that's my best guess at the moment. Have you ever been here before?"

Once the ship was under way he watched as the sole other occupant, a Jedi Knight, pulled out a book. A hide bound volume of information. This Jedi must truly have a fondness for the arcane aspects of history.

Standing up he looked about the small compartment and decided not to disturb the reader with conversation. Instead he started the simpler motions of meditation. Moving through blocks, and arm wrenching and eventually to the motions of moving an invisible lightsaber about himself. Practicing through the kata?s of hand to hand and lightsaber combat with motions steadied by years of practice. With eyes open each move brought his thoughts closer, to scrutinize and clear the cobwebs of consciousness as to settle himself in the force. To meditate upon two simple things, the ruins and Grand Master Miria Lahana.

Blocking nothing he merely let it come to him as his body worked through the motions.

Nothing gave Josch more hope for the future then walking, hand in hand, with Miria through the corridors of the Temple. For the first time in days, a smile crept across the Grandmaster?s face as he thought of the possibility of a future with his beloved, all they had to do was survive all that the Force saw fit to lay in their path.

?The past six years you ask, well that is going to be slightly complicated,? he started, ?I can only assume that for the galaxy at large the Triumvirate has been trying to piece things back together again after the reign of the Emperor Darth Krayt and the One Sith. I have limited knowledge of this as I was busy chasing down my lineage.

?You see, after the war had ended I decided that it would not be wise to make haste back to the Temple. We all feared that the One Sith had infiltrated out ranks and even though I had been cautious not to betray what I truly was, I still did not want to bring the whole lot down upon the Guardians. So I took the long route around.

?First I visited Corellia, then Endor, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Vernet, and ended on Mandalore. It was upon arriving at my final stop that I was approached by Voj and given a choice: stay and lead the Journeymen Knights or continue onto Saridona Prime. Obviously I opted to return here to stand by your side. In addition to paying homage to my past friends and companions I was collecting clues to my ancestry. I have been letting my friend Navi crunch all the information waiting for a chance to share it with you.?

He stopped them both and pulled Miria into him to give her a deeply passionate kiss. As their lips slowly parted, he looked longingly into her eyes and gave her a one sided grin, ?But first we must attend to the children.?

Voj and Jaxon indicated their agreement to Taab?s plan. All of them knew what their jobs were in the coming maneuvers and they executed the first half without incident. Once they arrived at the final staging area, Jaxon and kids took up an overwatch position guarding the group?s rear flank. Voj slowly crept down the junction and looked back to Jaxon to indicate that he was ready.

Meanwhile, Taab moved into position and gave the high-sign to Jaxon who relayed the message to Voj. The leader of the Journeymen took a deep breath, moved halfway down the corridor, and waited for the crew of the gun emplacement to be distracted before moving in closer. He knew that the distraction would come in the form of his seasoned companion. So now all he had to do was wait for old warrior to capture the attention of his intended prey.

After they had nodded their acceptance of his plan the group silently moved out. The first part of the operation went very smoothly, and they encountered no resistance. Junior must have cleared this side already Taab thought to himself. When they all reached the final intersection they split up without a word. Taab almost forgot he was working with Mandalorian outcasts and for just a moment allowed himself to think of them as professional soldiers. He had to admit that it was far better than working with aruetii mercenaries anyway.

Now Taab moved quickly down his designated corridor, when he reached the point where it rejoined the main corridor he stopped and prepared himself. He was to attempt to draw the jetti'roya's attention, and their fire, in order to allow Bucko to destroy their gun emplacement. Being the bait was always a risky assignment and Taab had violated the "never volunteer for anything rule" so prevalent in aruetti militaries by taking it on himself.

But he couldn't risk allowing any of the kids to do it. They were who he and Bucko were here to rescue. Likewise, it wouldn't be right for Bucko to act as the decoy. If the Grandmaster of the Journeyman Knights were hit doing something like that while Taab stood on the sidelines, he would never hear the end of it. So, it fell to Taab. Besides he didn't mind. Sometimes being the bait could be fun.

Unfortunatly in this situation the most enjoyable way to create a diversion, explosives, was right out. If Taab used any more grenades the rest of the structure might collapse on them. Simply sniping at the enemy might not demand all of their attention either. He would need something that would draw away any troops that might be guarding the jetti'roya flank. If he couldn't do that than both he and Bucko could die.

He took stock of his surroundings and what assets he had, noticing the turbo-lifts across the hall from him and the jetti'kad trophy he had on his belt. It had come from a Twi'lek Jedi he had killed years ago and was his favorite. It was the only one of his lightsaber trophies that had a simple activation/deactivation switch instead of a "dead man" switch. That had often come in handy before, as it would now. "Well they are here to hunt Jedi" he mused to himself. A plan began to formulate in his head as he unscrewed the small explosive he had placed on the bottom of the lightsaber's hilt, a contingency on all of his trophies. One that he did not want set off by a stray blaster bolt. He placed the charge in his grenade pouch and unclipped the jetti'kad from his belt, ready to ignite it. He gestured to Junior indicating he was ready and waited for the return signal that Bucko was in position as well.

When he received it, he quickly went into action. First he used the rest of his flame projector's reserve to ignite the lifts across the hall. They burst into flame, and while the fire was contained to the lifts for now, the smoke from the fire quickly began to fill the subterrainian cavern. Staying behind the cover afforded him in his current position, he than fired the fibercord whip from his left gauntlet into the wall near the lifts and clipped the jetti'kad to it. He activated it with that distinctive *snap-hiss* sound and slid the lightsaber partway down the cord. It hung in the middle of the corridor and dangled from the whip. Taab hoped that through the thick smoke all the gunners could see was it's meter long bar of glowing green plasma. With any luck they wouldn't be able to see that it was hanging upside down and not actually being wielded by anyone at the moment. Now he finished the last part of his diversion. Keeping his left arm elevated at chest height so that the lightsaber wouldn't slide back his way, he poked his blaster carbine around the corner and began firing through the smoke towards the enemy position, emptying the magazine. He knew he wouldn't hi
