    IC: Darth Cavillous (NPC)
Bridge of the Hellfire, Battle of Saridona Prime.

Cavillous watched the last stages of the battle unfold before him with a sense of resolute gladness. The Redemption was clearly on its last legs, and the remaining fighters were descending towards the surface. A full on retreat to their precious Temple, as if they would be safe there.

They would die soon enough and so he turned his attention to the opposing Star Destroyer. With the battle here winding down he looked forward to the final destruction of the Nebula which lashed out in what he could only assume was its final death spasm. The shields of the Hellfire flared brightly under the onslaught and the Sith Lord was forced to look away from the blinding light. By the time it had subsided the Redemption was gone.

"Where is it?" he hissed to the droid commnder.

"Sensor readings indicate the Redemption has entered hyperspace," came the mechanical sounding reply.

"What? Track them. Immediately." The ship in and of itself was inconsequential, but Cavillous didn't want any loose ends. The droid manning the main sensor console reported after a few moments.

"Sensors were blinded for 1.87 seconds during their last attack. Redemption entered hyperspace during that window. Redemption's final trajectory is unknown. Chances of successfully tracing the ship's course through hyperspace are approx..."

    "Don't bother."

The droid commander piped up again. "There is another concern, an escape pod was jettisoned during the battle."

    "The Jedi?"

"Unknown. Communications on the detention level are inoperative until repairs can be effected."

It had to be the Jedi, she had been the only other life form aboard ship, the droids knew those pods weren't for them. Cavillous put his head in his hands, a gesture he never would have made in front of his subordinate Sith. But these droids didn't care about potential signs of weakness, they followed orders. "Alert our remaining fighters, destroy that pod at all costs!" The Jedi had seen too much, heard too much. Cavillous was sure the plan would still work, but the Jedi was a loose thread...one that if pulled upon just right could cause everything to unravel.

    Predator Three

The droid pilot received the order without emotion. "Destroy escape pod A-7 at all costs." It was a simple order, one that required no thought or handwringing from it's occupant. There was a problem of course. Only six of the Hellfire's fighters had survived to this point, fighting their way past the Jedi fighters and taking out the pod would be a difficult task to accomplish while trying to stay "alive". Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) the pilots of Predator squadron didn't concern themselves with mundane issues of life and death. The Hellfire could always produce more droids, and acquire more fighters.

So it was the Predator 3 (the senior surviving fighter) ordered its compatriots. "Initiate suicide run protocols, target Escape Pod A-7."

The droid and the surviving squadron then all hit their afterburners at once and accelerated to "ramming speed" towards the pod, intent on its destruction.

    IC: Darth Zelus/Knight Lycar (NPCs)
Abandoned observation post. Valley of Light, Saridona Prime. (NPC)

"I'm not about to run away!" Padawan Tano shouted defiantly. Good she was ready for whatever awaited them as those ships plunged their noses into the earth. Lycar was worried slightly as to how the padawan would hold up under the duress of combat, but she looked ready.

Beside him Knight Loother ignited her blue blade without a word. She too was ready, though Lycar admitted to be less worried about how she would perform. As for Dryn, well she looked like she had been around the block a few times. She was clearly able to handle herself in a fight. Lycar couldn't assure them of victory, or even survival out here. But they would do their best.

The slab like sides of Sith drop ships rolled up and dozens of war droids started to steam from them. Crimson bolts of blaster fire reached out to where the Jedi were holding their ground. Lycar sprang into action, hefting his double bladed lightsaber. He charged at the droids, letting loose with a war yelp. The twin blues blades knocked away bolt after bolt, as he rapidly closed the distance.

Using the force he leaped high into the air and came down in the middle of a group of three droids. He swung himself (and his weapon) around in a semi-circle, neatly cleaving the droids in half. He let out a sigh of relief as they split apart. He had feared they would be made of some form of lightsaber resistant material, but they clearly weren't. A string of blaster bolts was fired at him now from close range which he deflected easily enough, though in the process the attacking droid got close enough to grab at him.

The claw like hands cut through his shoulder, rending his flesh and spraying the frost cover ground with red. He cried out in pain before managing to stab the droid through the eye socket forcing it to let go. "Don't let them touch you!" he called out to his comrades. Channeling the force he pushed away the pain from his shoulder. It was a deep wound, but not a fatal one. It would leave a good scar once it healed. He rotated the shoulder, testing it. The wound was painful (though less so now) but would only hamper his ability slightly. He deflected another string of fire. Good thing too he thought to himself, they were going to need all the help they could get.

Following the initial wave of droids Darth Zelus stood in the open hatchway and surveyed their initial attack. She could feel her heart pounding as the sounds of battle titilated her senses, but still she waited. This was a test, not only to herself, but of the Jedi. She wanted them to reveal to her who the leader was here before she moved in for the kill.

The others thought her a blunt instrument, and her actions during the war gave credence to that. However, that was years ago, and she was a much different person now than she had been before. Yes the blood lust of battle still called to her, but she tempered it with wisdom now, a wisdom that the other's seldom gave her credit for. In time that would be their own undoing, and ensure her ascension to ultimate power. For now though she had to play her part, and indulge herself in the battles to come.

    Gardens, Temple of Light

The Gardens were quickly emptying out of Jedi as they made their way to where Taab was ordering them. Oddly enough he had given no orders to Master Piim. Knight Lahana drew her lightsabers to her hands. “Ready or not,” she declared.

Piim hung her head low. She detested this sort of thing and in the absence of any sort of oversight she had "only" the force to guide her. Of course the force was all she would need. She closed her eyes and felt it's pull. "The east entrance, it is a nexus. Something important will happen there." Using the force to augment her speed she dashed off to where the force was guiding her. "Hurry, there isn't much time."

    IC: Darth Sixtus (NPC)
Just inside the Temple's East entrance

She and droids had fought their way inside, though she hadn't had to draw her weapon just yet. She regarded the dying Jedi at her feet, the smoking ruin of the human's midsection showed the results of a burst of close in blaster fire from war droids. "Don't fight it Jedi. Soon you will be reborn," she soothed him in his final moments. She looked to the other Jedi who had been guarding the entrance, but there was no point there, the Rodian was already dead. She giggled. He too would be reborn if Veneficus and Harbinger were to be believed.

A yell from down the hallway caught her attention, and a moment later a youth with a lightsaber could be seen charging at them as he came around a corner. How curious, she could sense the fear in him. It was delicious, and oh how delectable the way he tried to hide it. There were other Jedi behind him that she could sense, though she couldn't see them yet. The droids raised their blasters at the newcomer, but Sixtus stopped them.

"Deal with those that follow," she ordered as she removed the lightwhip from her hip and ignited it before smiling seductively. "This one is mine."

X-83 TwinTail Starfighter - Protecting Kasha's damaged ship, Saridona Prime Space.

Forward and to Port of Tim and his Master, engines flared.

"All Jedi Fighters - Warning! Bandits coming at you virtually head-on, looks like they're at max thrust! I count six."

After the failed attacks on the Pellaeon he'd cancelled the multiple-fire instruction and the tube linkage, so each press of the trigger would now launch just one Proton Torpedo. "Long Range engagement, I think, do it the Rogue Squadron way", he said to himself as one of Corran's phrases 'Odds decidedly longer than a Hutt and twice as ugly' came to mind for a second.

Designating the nearest Predator, which looked to have an old-style cockpit front - no telling with Sith, and presumed Droid Pilots at that, whether there was any significance - but flown by Command Rank Pilots in the old Felpire, and presumably still true today; he waited for the lock-tone and fired.

The torpedo ran straight and true, detonating inside the ball cockpit and turning it into a cloud of shrapnel.

He was more-than-half expecting the next in 'line', possibly also the one next to that, to divert to engage him, but the five remaining ships didn't deviate by a hair. Just like Droids that had been given a max-priority tasking, in fact. Well, if that's the case, he thought as he applied etheric rudder to keep his ship's bow pointed at the enemy and designated the next but one to the left, it's going to cost them,

Again the short wait to the lock-tone and a jet of yellow fire from the Torpedo as it raced away. This time, the missile hit on the inner edge of the blade-shaped wing and its attachment point, blasted the wing free and sent the fighter tumbling uncontrollably out into empty space, trailing vapour and sparks in its wake.

Four bandits left. A maximum of three friendly fighters - combat status unknown - to oppose them. Almost unbidden, except for a "Be right back" to his Master, Tim's TwinTail leapt forward and up, rolling inverted on the rise and curving over into a, near vertical, inside loop on the descent. This was the ASF method for engaging an enemy while not risking friendly fire from forces it was approaching, taught to Tim prior to what he always thought of as the 'fateful day' and given much simulator time in practice. Not a TwinTail simulator package, no, but one for the R-28s ASF were converting to. The difference in handling between the two Incom products was probably why he missed with his quad-linked burst.... almost!

He'd intended to post the burst through the Predator's top-hatch. Instead, it ploughed down the 'rear' of the ball and melted half the engines away. When Tim's vertical-left-bank pull-out manoeuvre ended with him being able to assess the result, the Predator had grown a web of blue-white energy strands and was rapidly rolling about its horizontal centreline, while flying a straight course. Tim observed just two and a half more rolls, then the Predator detonated.

Letting out a deep breath, he returned to circle protectively around his Master's ship. "Sorry about that, Master, had two or three things to attend to." he said over the Comm.

"All Jedi Fighters - Warning!” An ally calls out through the comms “Bandits coming at you virtually head-on, looks like they're at max thrust! I count six."

Kai checks his scopes, and moves to engage, executing a roll over the top of the escape pod. Turing to face the oncoming fighters he makes sure to be some distance in front of the pod using his shields to block any long range shots from hitting the vulnerable craft. He sees three flashes of light and three bandits drop off the scopes. There wasn’t much time the Predators were coming in fast, he had to be quick but, not jumpy. He couldn’t afford to miss. Taking a deep breath he clears his mind and focuses on the next attacker. His master ran him through the same exercise when teaching the young knight the finer points of telekinesis. Master Sarr would be horrified to learn that Kai was using his teachings to destroy rather than to build. Dyein Sarr was different from other Jedi. He believed that no problem could be solved with violence. He wore a lightsaber more out of tradition than anything else. The Jedi master detested weapons of every sort even civilized one from a different age. Many who knew him referred to his as ‘No Saber’ Sarr, and he lived up to the name, resolving issues though discourse, negotiation or, if the situation called for it, outright trickery. Never once had Kai seen him even activate his lightsaber, even in the middle of a lightfight. Somehow he always got through unscathed.

Kai fires off four bolts of energy that strike true, a fourth brilliant flash and another empty space on the scanner.

"All Jedi Fighters - Warning! Bandits coming at you virtually head-on, looks like they're at max thrust! I count six."

Kasha cursed under her breath knowing she would have to sit this one out mainly because her astromech failed to bring her weapon's online. She glanced to the side and noticed a pod just off in the distance the enemy fighters were chasing and bit on her lip. Before she could stretch out with her mind her Padawan's voice broke over the comm ways.

    "Be right back!"

Before she could protest to her padawan's reckless behavior she sensed she was not meant to stop him from protecting that pod. There was someone in that pod the enemy did not want alive, she was almost positive of it. Why send six fighters after a single escape pod? She closed her eyes and stretched out with her mind and sensed a being in the pod pulsating with the light side. She smiled to herself, who ever was in that pod may know of the Sith's plans. "Squadron, protect that pod at all costs."

"Sorry about that, Master, had two or three things to attend to."

"Never mind that, Padawan. Let's get that pod on the ground and I would feel better once I land this fighter safely. Let's head to the surface," Kasha commanded as she turned her fighter towards Saridona. She was going to have to baby this fighter down and she was not looking forward to this at all. She pushed her throttle heading towards the planet feeling her heart race. This was going to be anything but smooth. "Are you coming, Padawan?"

Kambie held her blade in a defensive position and deflected any blasterfire that came her way as she watched the foolhardy Knight Lycar jump right in the middle of platoon of battle droids. She looked on as one of the droids grabbed his shoulder cutting right through the flesh. For a non force user it would have more than likely taken the being out of battle. Lycar was able to suppress the pain easily enough as he continued to dismantle the battle droids something or rather someone else caught Kambie’s eye.

At the open hatchway of the ship the droids had descended from was a woman about Kambie’s age judging from her facial features. There was an obvious dark aura radiating from the human female. Kambie wondered what the woman had been through that could have caused her to turn to the darkside or if she had been born into a life where she had known no light. The droids were getting closer to her position. Kambie held her saber in her left hand enabling her to deflect blaster bolts and direct them toward approaching droids.

She pulled her blaster out of its holster on her right hip and began shooting at those a further distance away to take them down before they got closer. All the while keeping enough of her concentration on the darksider at the hatchway so that if the woman made a move Kambie would be ready to engage in battle. If she had to battle the woman she would. To protect this temple and the guardians that lived here she would kill if she had to. She hoped the woman could be turned though. She preferred saving lives to taking them.

"Right with you, Master!," he says in return, "Have you ever airstilted a ship down through re-entry? I'm a bit concerned there are cracked welds up in front of you. If atmo' compresses into them, it could rip the cover-plating right off. Not only would that make your ship even less aerodynamic than it already is, it could also start ripping away at the components underneath. Balancing her down on her drives, almost all the way, would keep strain on the nose to a minimum. Transition into normal Repulsorlift flight for the final stage; say, when you'll only need a maximum of fifty klicks-per-hour, or so. My astromech says that yours would be capable of holding the ship at the right angle and compensating for drift on the way down.

Incidentally, my sensors have detected a new contact heading dirtside from around Redemption's last known position, it's Light-freighter class, probably a YT design. IFF shows it as friendly."

Belatedly Ian realized that in his excitement he failed to follow any of Knight Hochner's instructions. He had charged ahead, and in doing so wasn't acting as a rear guard. That of course had also broken the second tenant of his instructions, to follow orders. So already now Ian was zero for two. Nor had he stayed close. Zero for three, and it had led to him being engaged with the Lady Sith.

The only instruction he hadn't broken yet was the order to fall back if it became too much. Seeing the lightwhip ignite, Ian also realized that things had just become too much. He raised his lightsaber to ward off any attack and skidded to a halt, hopefully out of the evil woman's range. Fear consumed him now as his earlier bravado washed away. How was he going to survive this?

Looking at the leaving backside of the Padawan he turned to his patrol partner. "I may of misread his situation." he simply stated as his trunk drooped and waged slightly from side to side. It was rather emotionally stagnating and depressing to see someone react that way. He had thought he had seen some of himself in the alien youth, but the human had shown him wrong on that count running headlong like that after a mild encouragement. Most discouraging.

Squaring his shoulders with lightsabers in hand he gave pursuit, finally in his element of motion and the mental clarity it brought. With every step, body twist and arm swing a certain mental clarity and centered came to him in the Force. Always in motion in the future is, yet so is the present and the past, as the Makashi had taught he had learned to feel best centered in effecting or interacting within the Force when he mirrored its motions and dance of the ever changing realities of his found dimensions.

When the final corner was turned he found himself at the rear of the lad. "I think I found something for us to work on later." he simply stated as he took in the situation without stopping. Always in motion.

Blaster shots began to ring out from some of the droids, but these he merely danced through, their danger was like of nail sticking out of the floor. So long as he changed his path to dance between the nails and not trod upon them, he had little to fear, for as long as he moved as they moved, they could dance. Only those that would hit with his own motions needed blocked, and these he did his best to reflect back into the droid ranks. His plan was to close, Force speed his motions ahead in the last two meters, and then with blades burning begin a slash and twist combination through the droid ranks on the far side column to their approach. Hopefully the patrol partner would see his move and mirror it.

As for the woman present he planned to leave her either for last, or until he couldn't avoid her any longer. Her greatest challenge was that she was not alone and could use these droids as blunt spears to back them onto to be skewered. A most distressing idea, but one held dearly into the brightness of day. Life and death were equal moments of any things life, to portray one as more evil then the other was a blasphemy, although to put an insect for an obviously non-sentient alternative ahead of one's own life was unconscionable.

So they must break on them. "For Life!" he shouted as his trunk curled into a grin as he dashed the last meters to the side column. Now this, this was living!

IC: Gaan Be'orar - Temple Hallways

Gaan watched silently as the other two ran off toward the nearest breach. That was going to end well, she thought, as she followed at a slower pace. She heard the sound of blaster shots, and ignited her lightsaber, holding it in front of her as she approached the scene, ready to deflect any blasts that headed her way. When she turned the corner, she saw the Kubaz cutting through the ranks of droids, while a lone Sith woman seemed to be singling out the Padawan who had joined them only moments before the attack. Gaan frowned at the lightwhip in the woman's hand, then glanced at the Padawan, who seemed to be doing his best to stay away from her. This was why you didn't run ahead when you weren't completely trained in lightsaber combat.

The droids finally noticed that Gaan had joined the other two, and blaster shots started coming her way. She redirected most of them toward the Sith woman, knowing the lightwhip's flexibility wasn't exactly an advantage against blasters, and hoping to distract her from the boy. She began making her way through the droids, though at a much slower pace than her patrol partner, keeping an eye on the Padawan as she went. She really didn't want him getting hurt just because he was a little rash still. After all, that was one of her greatest weaknesses, as well. The only difference was that her skill was much greater, but time could easily remedy that in the young one's case. Besides, the last thing she needed was a lightwhip at her back. Ignoring the woman because she seemed focused on the boy for the time being was just stupid. The Kubaz could afford to, because Gaan had been behind him when he first attacked, but that was just another reason she couldn't afford to forget about the Sith.

    IC: Darth Cavillous (NPC)
Bridge of the Hellfire, Battle of Saridona Prime.

Four fighters destroyed, that left two. The droid manned fighters had the pod fixated, but with their "comrades" exploding around them, self preservation programming took over. One of them had to survive this counter attack, not for the survival of the droid pilots, that they knew was forfeit, but instead to ensure a successful completion to the mission. Without communicating with each other they each banked away from the pod at a random vector, vectors that would allow for an easy re-engagement of the target pod. Sadly for them, and infuriating for Cavillous, the fighters managed to take intersecting vectors and following an inadvertent fighter to fighter in flight interface they exploded in a brilliant ball of light.

The pod and the fighters continued on their way back down to the Temple. Cavillious was enraged, and almost ordered the main guns of the Hellfire to engage them at long range. He still in control of his faculties however. They were a small group of targets, pinpoint fire wouldn't be possible at this range, and behind them was the Temple (and the invading droid army). He didn't care if the droids were destroyed, but he couldn't risk destroying the Temple. He wanted it intact.

    IC: Beskaryc Taab
    Central Spire, Temple of Light

Taab continued to observe the exterior of the Temple. More and more droid ships were still landing and disgorging their troops. The North entrance seemed the most secure, while fierce battles had erupted both inside and outside of the Eastern and Western entrances. The Sith seemed to have made the most headway at the Southern entrance though, despite the lack of any Sith to direct that force. If the General could get the power back up already Taab could leave his post and partake of the battle, but he hadn't yet so Taab continued his mission of simply calling out the enemy landing patterns. Exposed as he was he was thankful that he hadn't been spotted yet.

Another series of sonic booms crackled overhead and Taab looked skyward, prepared to make yet another landing report, but what he saw wasn't the now familiar needle-like Sith landing craft. Instead it was an escape pod being escorted by a handful of Jedi fighters and even that old Corellian ship that belonged to Dirteater (Daniel) and his sister. Taab saw no pursuit craft, but if that was all the reinforcements that the Redemption had to offer then it seemed like a bad sign for how things had gone in the orbital battle that he knew had to have taken place. Nor did it bode well for things closer to home.

Not knowing what freq the flight would be on, he switched frequencies now to the Guard channel. He would be broadcasting in the clear, the Sith/droid force would hear him as well, but at this point that didn't matter, they knew the situation as well as he did anyway. At least he knew the message would get through to the Jedi.

"Welcome back flight, The Temple has been breached in several locations. The Southside needs..." No sooner had he started to speak then the Droid army seem to awaken to their presence as well, or maybe it was just now that they were finally in range. Whatever the reason, the "skyward" portions of the obelisk like landing craft began to open up on the incoming fighters with laser cannon built into their tails.

A web of green covered the sky over the battlefield, some of it aimed at the incoming fighters, some of it seeming more random. Taab went to speak to the Jedi again, but the Guard channel was now filled with static, jamming from the invaders. Still not knowing what frequency the fighters were on, all Taab could do was shrug and switch back to the Temple tactical channels and continue to call out orders. "Enemy is concentrating on the South Entrance, any Jedi available to divert there." As for the fighters, they would either make it or they wouldn't. It was out of his hands.

Lycar snarled as he cleaved another battle droid in two. Given the forces opposing them he was actually surprised they had lasted this long. Bringing the two sided blade back up he deflected a pair of blaster bolts back to the droid that had fired them and glanced about, trying to take stock of the situation.

Knight Loother was holding her own, deflecting bolts and even firing her own blaster at the Sith woman who seemed to be directing the battle. He admired her grit. Elsewhere, deeper in the woods padawan Tano could be seen driving her own lightsaber through the head of a droid that had gotten too close to her. Another close in blaster bolt caught his attention before he could catch sight of Eira Dryn. The Jedi were too exposed here, being forced apart from one another. They had to come toegther, to fight as a team or else they would be die separately.

Using the force he jumped high into the air, performing a flip before coming back to alight on his feet, only meters away from Knight Loother. He called out to her, and the others. "We have to reform, come together so they can't carve us apart!"

On the other end of the battle field Darth Zelus ducked as a string of blaster fire came close, too close, to striking her head. She glared out at its point of origin, the Jedi woman with the blue blade. So, she didn't want to content herself with just fighting droids. Zelus ignited her twin bladed lightsaber and flipped down off of her perch to the hard frozen ground below. Very well, she thought to herself as she stalked towards the Jedi. It was time to oblige her.

Sixtus lashed out with her lightwhip towards the youth, intent on feeding his fear. The strike came close, but not near enough to warrant being deflected, not just yet. Her eyes glittered at the emotion she could feel roiling off of the boy, but her smile turned to a frown as his fear didn't force him to attack. Instead he turned tail and ran away. How unfortunate, his fear could have been useful to him had he embraced it, used it to fuel anger and hatred. Used it to connect with the dark side. Instead he had cowered from her. Well she would do her best to persuade him now.

She started after him, whipping her weapon at the ground several times. But she was stopped short when the force warned her of impending danger. She threw herself to the ground and rolled to her right as several blaster bolts came sizzling by at where her midsection had been only moments before. Those damn droids! Couldn't they shoot straight? Several more bolts careened her way, these slightly more scattered and "off target". Looking to where they had come from she now understood that one the the Jedi, a female warrior from the look of her she would make a fine opponent for Zelus no doubt, was deflecting the war droids blaster fire towards her.

Sixtus screamed in frustration and retreated slightly behind her droids. That damn woman was keeping her from her fun. "Destroy them" she ordered the droids, indicating the Kubaz and female Jedi. The droids surged forward, firing as they went. It was an old tactic, once known as the "human wave" attack. It would be hard on the droids, many would no doubt be destroyed. But they were replaceable. It would also in all certainty kill the Jedi that stood in her path. She called out to the young man now. "Face me Jedi, use your fear. It will make you more powerful than you know." She smirked, unsure as to whether she would see the expresssion from wherever he was cowering. "It's the only way to save yourself, your friends," her voice lost it's melodic quality now, taking on a harder edge. "Your dignity."

Master Piim heard the sounds of battle echoing through the corridor. She loathed having to draw her lightsaber, to be forced to take a life seemed abject failure to her. But she would do as she must do. With Knight Lahanna just a step behind her she now also heard the words singing out from what could only be a Sith woman. She didn't know who the Sith was talking to, but her intent was clear. "Don't listen to her," Piim roared out in reply, her intensity surprising even her. "She is attempting to seduce you!"

Coming around a corner she was able to see the battle now, Two Jedi Knights were out in front, in danger of being overwhelmed by the droids advancing on them. Behind them was Padawan Thrace. Piim could sense the fear in him at the spectacle. He must have been the one the seductress was speaking to. Piim ignited her emerald blade now, "how sad that it has come to this," she spoke briefly to herself before she too began deflecting blaster bolts away from herself and into the nearby wall.

    IC: Ian Thrace
Temple of GoL, Just inside the East entrance

Ian turned and ran from the woman in red, her lightwhip nipping at his heals. With each strike from it the strange weapon seemed closer and closer to stripping the flesh from his feet, but somehow he managed to escape her attack which suddenly stopped. Wheeling around with his lightsaber in front of him he saw that Knight Be'orar had joined the fight and was batting the droids blaster bolts back at the Sith woman chasing him! He breathed a sigh of relief, and mentally thanked the Jedi for her intervention.

His relief was short lived as he saw the droids suddenly surge forward in the darkness. He started to run off again even further. He didn't want to leave the Jedi behind, especially after they had saved him from that awful woman, but he was just so afraid. Then he heard the Sith calling out to him again.

"Face me Jedi, use your fear. It will make you more powerful than you know." He couldn't face her! It was a trick, an attempt at getting him to kill himself by trying to face her. He continued running. "It's the only way to save yourself, your friends," He didn't care about saving them right now, he just wanted to get out of this alive! He came to the corner nearly bumping into Master Piim in the darkness. "Your dignity."

Ian stopped short now, his eyes glazing over slightly. His dignity? What dignity did he have left? He had been belittled at every turn in his life. He hadn't been worthy of his Master to save back on Ossus. Hadn't been worthy of real training during the dark times. Hadn't even been worthy of being brought in by the bounty hunter who had killed his Master on Coruscant. Nor had he been worthy of anything to the criminal gangs he fell in afterwards. Here he had thought he had found a place that would accept him, but nothing had changed. Here he had been passed off from master to Master, all trying to rid themselves of the mynock around their neck that was Ian Thrace. Here he had been mocked and ridiculed and even beaten by the Mandalorian thugs that were supposed to be protecting them all. Here he had made a fool of himself countless times, out at the ruins when he had gotten the former Grandmaster's pet killed, in the TCC where he had attacked Padawan Tano and ruined the one friendship he had managed to forge. Even here, where he couldn't even fight to save himself. His life had been nothing but one big indignity, who was he to try and change that now?

He felt a sudden rush of heat as he asked himself that question. All this time he had looked to others to accept him for what he was, to protect him, to cover for him. But now, now he saw the way. All he had to do was listen to the woman's words. To take back his dignity for himself and not leave it to others. The heat within him grew and his eyes flashed yellow for a second before returning to their natural brown. He spun around and let out a shriek, unlike anything he had ever heard. It was deep, it was powerful, and it gave him courage.

"Don't listen to her, she is attempting to seduce you!"

Those words had no meaning to him as the force flowed through him. He instinctively batted aside a blaster bolt meant for him before running and then leaping back into the fray. He slashed at the droids with his brilliant blue lightsaber, carving them apart They fell before him and his new found power, first one, and then another, and then another. He had never felt anything like this before. He was finally taking charge of his own fate, and it felt wonderful.

    IC: Kambie Loother

It had been too long since Kambie had the chance to engage in battle against droids. She was not fond of computers or machinery. She smiled despite herself as the droids fell to the ground as they broke apart after being hit by the fire of her blaster. Kambie began to press the trigger more rapidly causing more droids to fall. A few droids moved away from the pack and began to approach her forcing her to pay closer attention to the hand her lightsaber was in. Foolishly she continued to fire shots wildly with her blaster while she made short work of those droids that dared to approach her. When she looked back towards the droids she was firing at with her blaster she noticed that her fire was now aimed more at the human with the dark force presence than the droids.

Kambie wasn’t surprised to see the woman draw her own weapon. A twin bladed saber. Kambie was not one to shy away from a battle. The droids were just decoys the other Jedi could make short work of them. The real threat was the dark woman orchestrating the battle. Take out the puppeteer and the puppets would perish quickly. She put her blaster back in its holster and charged full speed. Her saber grasped in two hands held out in front of her. At the last moment she dove under the other woman’s legs and came up on the other side. It was a tactic that she often used to throw her opponent off before the engagement began. Giving her the early upper hand. Before the woman could fully turn around Kambie took her first blow. Aiming for the shoulder of the arm the dark woman held her saber in.

Saridona Guardian Temple of Light, East Entrance

Swing, slice, duck, spin, reflect, turn stab, pirouette, stab, hold and turn, and release droid shields. It was an odd dance now that he moved in time with those around him, but the Force speed was merely to close the gap, and now the deeper skills of close combat with those using medium ranged weapons became a more calculated dance. Not to say the flow was not present, for it was, but now instead of nails to not tread upon it was a dance of light as though swimming through the moments.

A touch of a catching of the left bladed through a droids back became the anchor with a wrist twist to pull himself forward and around with a swing to lob off the arms of three more droids as they began a rush forward in response to words from the Sith woman. It was easy to see how others had fallen who did not specialize in this dance, but he was a Guardian and trained for this with Jedi, Guardians of Light, and Makashi alike. So the dance was a well rehearsed one. If they had used sonic blasters or Chiss charrics he would of found the dance untenable at his present pace. For the reflected bolts that slayed the two droids charging would of passed on into his head and trunk, though he was trained to look and see as he danced, and all til now had been blasters. There was no sign of that changing any time soon.

    Bless the Force.

Little more than insects, but yet as he Force leaps onto the ever pressing droids he continued his dance upon their heads in a crouch. Well, how best to put this. He felt a shift, a change in those behind as a flickering light began to burn darker, like the black flame that burns itself out he felt the young ones answering heat to what he was sure were the ignored words of the Sith Lady. Still he danced, the tempo was tipping, but strike a right cord, or enough and the tune can change again. Spinning down his blades reflected and dipped to clip through the droids heads, bisecting them to fall as more rubble upon the ground. Behind was one he barely glimmered in his vision of a droid stepping over and slipping to fall on the droid litter he left behind, and that was enough.

Though the Padawan was burning himself out, and a distraught Jedi yet fought behind with the enemies own weapons, well that simple thing, that simple sight buoyed his spirits above the tempo others tried to impose. It was the best lesson of the Makashi to him, as his trunk curled to the point of a dull ache from smiling so large and he laughed with an echoing buzzing. With open eyes and a brightly light heart it cascaded down the halls and out to the open snow and droids. All was well, even if it ended it was well, for his joy would not leave his heart as it sung it's own song and spewed forth the dance of self and joy in the moments.

Location: Valley of Light, Saridnona Prime

Alisha's heart was racing as the ships touched down, and several droids spilled out onto the snow. She already said she wasn’t backing down or running, so she planted her boots down in the ground and stood her ground.

She deflected round after round of blaster fire, and found her eyes drifting upward to the main doors of the ship. A woman, likely the leader, stood on the top of the ramp. Alisha was about to deflect a laser bolt her way, but a droid was running way too close.

“Big mistake!” Alisha shouted, twisting her wrist as the droid jumped up to attack. It’s body fell uselessly at her feet, while the decapitated droid head continued to fly above the Initiate’s head. Two more started running to replace the one that fell, and she was quickly driven a short distance away from the rest of her patrol into the woods.

Holding her lightsaber forward with a yell, Alisha stabbed the shimmering green blade right into a droid’s skull. She was braced to pivot to execute the second droid, when Alisha suddenly stopped short. She could sense something change in the air around her…it was from a severely weakened bond through the Force, back at the Temple. It had flashed with a rage she found unusually familiar, it was an anger she had faced head-on some time ago...

“Oh no…Oh, Force no… Ian!” she whispered, easily connecting the dots in her mind. The two Initiates had hardly seen a trace of each other since the incident…and now, she had the sinking feeling that meeting would now be impossible…

The searing heat of a blaster bolt flying just past her headtail forced her back to the battle at hand, and she gasped at how close the droid had gotten. Awkwardly finishing her turn, she clapped one hand hand against her head, and swiped her lightsaber across the droid’s chest. The mechanical pieces dropped heavily into the snow, and she then rushed back to the ship to join the others.

As she ran, her heart sank as Thrace entered her thoughts again, but Alisha had to mentally fight to keep her attention where it was truly needed. Fortunately, something wrenched her thoughts back to the battle the instant her companions came back into view...the woman had left the ship, and now challenged Master Loother.

Droids. Droids were never as easy to fight, and she never knew quite why. Maybe because they couldn't be felled by a single well-placed attack, not like organics; they just took damage and kept going until they literally couldn't move. So little finesse. So much work. Well, perhaps not for the Jedi, those glowing pig-stickers probably made easy work of the droids.

Eira ducked behind a tree's cover and kept her head down, envious of her companions' weapons. Her blaster didn't carry a lot of power, which meant she had to pick her shots, and without getting her head blown off in the process. Luck was on her side, and a few fell - or were at least slowed - to her shots. As she surveyed the damage, she took note of the battlefield and tried to look for a way out. The four of them were too spread out, Knight Lycar was right, but then Knight Loother charged the woman who had joined the battle.

She spotted Padawan Tano as she leaned out to take another shot, looking like she might join that fight. "Let the Knights deal with her, focus on the droids!" The girl was good with a blade, but she'd get herself killed against someone well trained. That's what Jedi Knights were supposed to be good for, wasn't it? The best they could do now was keep the droids out of their way.

    IC: Kasha Sherland
    Twintail saridona prime space

Kasha watched as the two last fighters banked away from the pod crashing into each other causing her to smirk. That's what happens when droids pilot the fighters. Her padawan spoke over the comms causing her to smile a bit.

Right with you, Master!," he says in return, "Have you ever airstilted a ship down through re-entry? I'm a bit concerned there are cracked welds up in front of you. If atmo' compresses into them, it could rip the cover-plating right off. Not only would that make your ship even less aerodynamic than it already is, it could also start ripping away at the components underneath. Balancing her down on her drives, almost all the way, would keep strain on the nose to a minimum. Transition into normal Repulsorlift flight for the final stage; say, when you'll only need a maximum of fifty klicks-per-hour, or so. My astromech says that yours would be capable of holding the ship at the right angle and compensating for drift on the way down.

She knew the damage to her fighter was bad. It was almost to the point where she was tempted to crrawl into her padawan's fighter. "I copy that, I'll have to baby this fighter down. At least I still have complete maneuverability. Here goes nothing," she said as she bit on her lip entering the atmosphere. She pulled up on the fighter just as her padawan instructed her balancing it on the drives was going to be a trick in itself. Her heart pounded hoping she reached the ground before the nose of her fighter ripped off completely. What ever that weapon was, it did a real number on her fighter. "Padawan how is the nose looking?"

"I copy that, I'll have to baby this fighter down. At least I still have complete manoeuvrability. Here goes nothing"; his Master replies; then, a few seconds later; "Padawan how is the nose looking?"

"Very good at the moment, Master!", Tim assured her, "Interesting effect.... Looks like the thruster-wash from your engines is forming a kind of cushion and deflecting almost all of the airflow and re-entry heat right around your ship. Ought to set up a simulation when we've free time, see exactly what is happening; possibly have you write it up for the 'Book'."

Although he'd been trained in airstilting, it was a mandatory part of ASF flight-school in case of repulsor failure, and had both practiced the technique via simulation and done it live in the Illusion (although never to completion, as a full airstilt to ground could - and almost invariably did - cause major damage to the ship performing it; although always much less than with, what was euphemistically called, 'a controlled flight into ground') he'd not closely observed another ship being put through the manoeuvre until now.

Now both ships were in atmosphere, Tim had altered his descent-path to a wide, cockpit inwards, banking spiral; allowing him to both keep an eye on his Master's ship and to observe the Temple and its surroundings. It was a wide spiral because he had also seen the Predators 'Fox-four' (collide with each other) and had no intention of imitating them!

Thus it was that he saw the lightshow begin; just after a rough voice (which he had no trouble identifying, despite the lack of a callsign) came up, unencrypted, on the 'Guard' frequency. ""Welcome back flight, The Temple has been breached in several locations. The Southside needs...".... before the words were overpowered by jamming.

"Cheeky and Nasty!" he commented to himself about the enemy reactions, "Shouldn't be allowed!" as he very rapidly assessed the new situation; and saw a possible solution!

On the western edge of the Valley of Light centuries, if not millennia, of erosion (possibly also glaciation) had formed a 'hanging valley'; its sides high enough to shield the incoming ships both from the aimed fire (which Tim classified as mainly intended to induce a flinch) and from the 'searchlight pattern' that a flinch would probably send a ship into. Tim quickly re-designated the set-down point for his and his Master's ships to a reasonably flat location on the hanging valley's floor and, while both ships were being rapidly diverted by their astromechs into the safety of the valley, got on the Comm again.

"All Jedi vessels - Warning! Vigorous anti-air response by enemy in vicinity of Temple. Looks like Laser Cannon fire. Sending safe landing co-ordinates for temporary touch down, personnel transfer and planning.... Break.... Spirit, do you have Radionics capability aboard, by any chance? Main Temple Comms off-air and Guard frequency is jammed.... Break.... Sorry about the bouncing about, Master, needed to get you and your ship down stat!"

Kai steeled himself, he stood right in the path of the remaining two fighters. His shaking hands unable to land a solid hit on them. Just as he prepared to become one with the Force they broke off their attack colliding in to each other as they tried to regroup. The young knight couldn’t believe his luck he knew that those fighters were droid piloted, they have a particularly cold signature in the Force, yet they managed to make a rookie mistake. He wasn’t going to wait around for something else to happen in space it was time to get to the ground. He formed up with the other fighters and escorted the pod toward the ground. As the flight broke atmo an unsecured message burst through on comms,

"Welcome back flight,” A gruff voice said “The Temple has been breached in several locations. The Southside needs..." Before the man could finish the sky became filled with green laser fire, again Kai did what he could to shield the defenseless pod but they had to set down soon or they’d be slagged. The voice didn’t return just static.

"All Jedi vessels - Warning!” One of the pilots called over comms, “Vigorous anti-air response by enemy in vicinity of Temple.” That was obvious. “Sending safe landing co-ordinates for temporary touch down, personnel transfer and planning.” The landing zone popped up on Kai’s scopes. It was toward the western side of the valley, the young knight was unsure if the escape pod he was protecting could make it to that spot.

“Escape pod, this is,” he paused for a beat trying to come up with a descriptive name for himself so that the unknown Jedi could know who’s talking without giving his actual name. ‘Sith it’ he thought, “this is Kai Dareagen on your port side, do you think you can make it to the landing zone?”

    IC: Beskaryc Taab
    Central Spire, Temple of Light

Taab watched and let out a brief profanity as he saw the incoming flight deviate around the pervasive ground fire. It looked like they were trying to set down on the western side of the valley. Well most of them were anyway, the escape pod wasn't nearly as maneuverable as the others and got clipped by enemy fire. It plunged to the ground near the South side of the Temple. The pod bounced several times and then skidded upon hitting the hard packed earth there, a hard landing, but it looked to be survivable. Taab paid it no further attention as reports began to stream in from the Temple's defenders.

The West side attack had been stopped cold, despite the presence of a Sith there to direct the droid's efforts. Taab knew that on the other side of the Temple, the East side, the landing was also being led by a Sith. He was disturbed by the lack of reports being sent in from that battle site and was about to comm out to them when a message came in from Master Piim. They were holding their own, for now.

On the Northern front the Jedi had managed to push the attackers from the Temple grounds entirely. From his perch atop the spire the Mandalorian took aim with a guided wrist rocket and fired it at a squad of droids who were attempting to fight their way back inside. The warhead guided true and exploded against one of them, taking it out along with the two standing nearest to it. He knew he shouldn't have done that, it might give away his position here, but he couldn't resist the shot. Keeping his T-visor on that sector for a bit longer he saw the wash of green and blue blades flying over the frozen ground, hacking the remaining droid formations to pieces. The North side of the Temple was secure, though they would eventually have to clear out the grounded landing ships that were still pouring fire into the early dawn sky.

He turned his attention now to the beleaguered South side. It was quickly apparent that this had been the Droid's focal point for the battle. The Sith attacking on both the East and West were decoy elements, to draw off Jedi forces. Even so they were barely holding on there. He ordered the Jedi defending the Northern gate to send whatever they could South, they had to push the droids out of the Temple there...fast.

Abandoned observation post. Valley of Light, Saridona Prime.

Zelus admired the Jedi's aggressiveness as she slid underneath her before popping up for a surprise attack from behind. A lesser Sith like Sixtus would try to use that aggression, turn the Jedi to the Dark. Zelus was not such a lesser Sith. She was a warrior, and she would defeat this Jedi on the field of battle. She caught the Jedi's blade as it came down towards her shoulder with the back side of her own twin bladed weapon, parrying the blow away effortlessly from her shoulder before spinning about to face her. "Nice try," she snarled at the female Jedi, before launching her own blistering attack. But she was matched parry for strike once, twice, three times as the Jedi and Sith danced in their part of the battle field.

Zelus snarled again, feeling the rush that combat brought to her. This Jedi was very nearly an equal to her, nearly but not quite. Fighting her was challenging, but the outcome was not in doubt. in the meantime, she would enjoy herself, confident that the droids would dispatch the other lesser Jedi out here in the cold forest.

The blue blade of the Jedi locked with the Sith again and Zelus gave off a slight force push, separating the pair of them, and giving her more room to work. This was exhilarating! She kept her twin bladed lightsaber back in front of her presenting it at a 45 degree angle to the ground. "You can't win. Even as you fight me, your Temple falls." Then she lunged forward, starting to bring the "upper" blade down on the Jedi before reversing her strike and bringing the "lower" blade up at her knees.

Lycar watched in despair as Kambie's attacked the Sith. "No!" he cried out, the woman would be too powerful to be taken down alone, and he couldn't assist her with the droids piling down upon him. He sliced another in half before stabbing a second through it's sweeping red eye. He was about to attempt a force leap to Kambie's side when the force warned him of an incoming flurry of blaster bolts. He swung his lightsaber around, deflecting them indiscriminantly. There had been no time to try to aim them back at their points of origin. Knight Loother seemed to be surrounded in a haze of blue and red as she and the Sith exchanged blows. He couldn't come to her aid just yet, instead all he could do was wade back into the droid's midst and hope that Kambie could hold her own for just a little longer.

    IC: Master Piim/Darth Sixtus (NPCs)
Just inside the Temple's East entrance

Darth Sixtus smiled a toothy grin as she felt the fear and anger roiling off the young boy. Better still, he began to act on his emotions destroying droid after droid. He wasn't fully dark, not yet, and as soon as the battle ended she knew he would revert back to his Jedi teachings. But this showed his potential, his captue would add to their scant numbers here. She could have taken care to ensure he was not killed, but if he was, well then so be it. It would demonstrate that he was too weak, even in his anger, to join the Sith cause.

More blaster fire caught her attention. They weren't making enough headway here. Being forced back by the Jedi deflecting her own droid's fire back at her was slowing them down too much. "Cease fire!" she screamed to the droids, who promptly followed her command. "Close and take them hand to hand." The droids stowed their weapons which folded back above their segmented hands before they reached out to the Jedi with dagger like fingers.

Master Piim to furrow her brow, she was not pleased at all by the actions of Padawan Thrace. He was taking the easy path, the path of anger and fear. It was a path that he would have to be detoured from if he was to be saved. But there was nothing she could do about it now, all of her concentration was devoted to fending off the countless droids that continued to attack their position. The blaster fire suddenly stopped, and the Togruta Master took the moment to bring her comm circuit to her mouth. "Control, we're holding on here at the East Entrance. We..." but her communication was cut short as a droid grabbed her by the arm, cutting deeply into her flesh with it's sharp fingers. She dropped the comm circuit to the ground and pushed the attacking droid back with the Force.

The automaton flew back, crashing in a heap that took out the footing of yet another droid. The best way to help young Thrace was to confront the Sith attempting to seduce him. Piim brought up her blade and calmly charged into the droid's midst, intent on reaching the deadly Sith woman.

    IC: Hector Zey
    TCC, Temple of Light

As the battle raged on both inside and out of the Temple of Light General Hector Zey, Grandmaster of the order, tried his best to figure out the "guts" of the TCC. It was dark, and he couldn't see what he was doing. Of course he didn't really know what he was doing either, or what he was looking for. So he allowed the Force to guide him.

The Force though was a roiling mix of calm, and agitation, peace and aggression, light and dark. Through it he could feel the battles going on all over Saridona Prime, from the surface all the way into orbit, from the outer encampment to the Sith's deepest penetration of the Temple's defenses. He couldn't feel individuals, their thoughts, feelings or actions, but it was enough to have a general idea of what was going on.

He could feel frustration and anger from above.

He could feel desperation from outside, out in the Valley of Light.

Closer in he felt the exultation of victory, and a light that was suddenly pervaded by darkness.

He felt it all, and it simultaneously filled him with a sense of hope and dread. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, calming himself and the maelstrom he felt in the Force around him. He slid his hand back into the console, allowing the force to guide his efforts. His hand came to rest on a hard metal object, encased in a plastic shell. It gave off a slight warmth, yet to him it was frigid to the touch. It must be what he was searching for.

He tried to pry it open, but he couldn't gain any leverage in the device's small seams. Kneeling before the console he reached in with his other hand and pulled at the device hard with all his might. It popped off rather easily from where it had been mounted and sending him falling onto his backside. As he fell, the the lights in the TCC (and throughout the Temple) came back on. The hum of power coursing through the TCC sub stations could be heard as the system's showed ready. He righted himself and withdrew the device from the console's open maintenance hatch, regarding it with curiosity for a moment. It's purpose and origin were clear enough, it was a Sith device, meant to rob the Temple of its defenses at the moment of their attack. But who could have put it there?

He sighed loudly, it could have been almost anyone. The Jedi had received a large influx of survivors from the ruins as well as many who had recently arrived of their own accord. They had a traitor in their midst, and finding them out would have to be his top priority. But first, they had to defeat the attack on the Temple. With power restored he would be able to control the Temple's defenses. Placing the odd device on the hard deck he closed the panel and stood, prepared to do just that.

    TAG: All GoL.

OOC: Should they happen to notice, everyone will be able to see the lights coming on throughout the Temple. This will of course be most obvious to those who are actually inside the Temple. :p The Temple's shields and defensive systems are not yet online however.

X-83 Twin Tail 'Avril', Saridona Prime

Kai received no reply form the escape pod and his shields were failing he couldn’t protect the defenseless vessel for much longer. In an instant he moved his fighter out of the way of an incoming laser blast. It was an act of sheer self-preservation. His shield was now gone and that shot would have damaged his engines sending him straight into the ground. Instead his charge took the attack meant for him and plunged toward the frozen dirt. The only thought crossing the knight’s mind was ‘No’ he had failed again, he had set himself to protect and ended up sacrificing. Sorrow entered his mind again but, before it could fully take over his body snapped into action. He rolled his fighter over and followed the injured craft to the ground. Landing his X-83 between the pod and the droids, he unbuckled his harness and drew his saber but did not activate it. Swiftly the young knight opened the canopy and jumped out of the cockpit. His blue blade lit up the darkness around him. Behind him, the combat droids marched inexorably toward the darkened temple, in front the dropships continued to light the sky with green death. Some of the automatons turned to attack the fighter that had landed behind their lines. Kai paid them no heed as he carefully opened the hatch on the escape pod and shouted, probably louder than he needed to,

“Are you all right?” he was either going to escort a live Jedi to that temple or drag a corpse to it. He would not fail this time.
