IC: Knight Rand (NPC)/Knight Vomkoju (NPC)
TCC, Temple of Light

"That guy irritates me," Vomkoju spoke again as soon as Knight Dareagen had left the TCC. Elim Rand shook his head. "Everything irritates you right now," he smiled. "Even me." Vomkoju gave him a hard look but didn't disagree. Rand chuckled at that, irritating Vomkoju even more. "Young Dareragen is just doing his job, he is under a considerable amount of strain, you must have felt it..." Vomkoju's lips pulled back in a silent snarl. "...or perhaps not. In any case..."

"Hold on." There was a flashing, but silent alarm from the engineering panel again. "Temp is spiking again on the power regulator..."

Rand became serious. "Which one?" Vomkoju snapped an answer back at him. "The same as before, Gamma. It's not going back down this time." He opened up a comm channel to Lenea, who was still working on regulator Echo according to the duty sheet. "Len..."

There was a slight shudder felt throughout the Temple followed by the lights flickering before going out.

"What happened?" Rand demanded, though he knew the answer. Vomkoju answered anyway as emergency, battery powered, lights came on in the TCC. "The regulator blew. We've been having problems all morning down there, and I've been shunting power back and forth to keep the shields and defensive systems online." That much Rand already knew. "Must have put too much through Gamma with Echo down for repair. I thought it could take it..." He looked worried. "It should have been able to take it..." The Jedi's eyes met. With two regulators down the power had been cut throughout the Temple, and they already knew there was a Sith saboteur and murderer among them.

"We're powerless..."

"Worse than that, we're defenseless."

IC: Beskaryc Taab
Corridors near the TCC, Temple of Light.

Taab had taken Momma's (Kasha Sherland) order to "wait outside" rather liberally when she had given it. He had better things to do than sit around waiting to punish padawans. Instead he had headed up towards the TCC to see what else he could do in helping to secure the Temple from attack, both from within and without. He had not yet made it when the lights started to flicker.

"shab..." Taab had time to say to himself before power wernt out completely. "Yeah, should have seen that coming." He switched the view in his HUD over to a nightvision, and a mixture of dark and light glowing green images took shape for him. Good, it looked like emergency lighting had taken over, but he would remain on the night view for now just in case. Now he picked up the pace and double timed it towards the TCC.

IC: Darth Cavillous (NPC)
Hellfire medical center

Cavillous, Dark Lord of the Sith and leader of those who had found their way here to Saridona prime watched the biobed, his eyes seemingly aflame. The steady hum of medical equipment and the shallow rising and fall of the being's chest there was testament to his struggle to live, to be brought back from the brink of death. It was unfortunate that Cavillous had been forced to this level of desperation, but he needed his plans to remain as flexible as possible, especially given recent setbacks.

"Lord Cavillous," one of the wardroids interrupted his thoughts, drowning out the low hum permeating the medbay. "Sensors indicate that the shield surrounding the Jedi Temple has collapsed."

Praedator must have done it again! This was unexpected, especially so soon. He needed more time to prepare, to bring... No, there was no time. He scowled, there was only one option now. "Quickly, tell Zelus to march her forces overland and take the Temple!"

"By your command Lord Cavillous."

The Sith thought things over, now ignoring the being on the biobed before him. Zelus and the forces she had managed to put on world may not arrive in time. It was a long overland march over rough terrain. if the Jedi got their shield back up before they arrived they would be caught in the open and destroyed. Then what options would Cavillous have left? He scowled. He didn't want to do this, he wanted to take and hold the Temple. To use it as his new base of operations as he conducted his search...

Bah, but the Jedi there were providing to be too much of a nuisance. They had to be dealt with. It wasn't optimal, but the ruins of the Temple could be searched just as well as if it were left intact. It would just take longer. "Prepare a surface bombardment. I want that Temple destroyed."

"By your command."

OOC: There you have it folks, hopefully a little bit of excitement added for most of y'all. If you decide to move your character, take care that you don't move them too quickly from one location to the next. The interior of the Temple is darker than usual (there is some emergency lighting) and you never know what surprises your character may run into along the way. ;) As always if there are any questions, just send me a PM, I am always around. :p

IC: Tim Battershell
Cafeteria Kitchen, Temple of Light - Saridona Prime.

Tim felt relieved when neither the Mon Cal - he had never been particularly good at assigning genders to clothed members of aquatic species - nor Chef showed any sign of attacking. If Chef's reaction was limited to exclaiming "Out, out, get out all of you out!", albeit in an angry tone, then he probably wasn't under Sith control - at least, not at present.

Three things then happened in rapid succession. The Mon Cal's Lightsaber was deactivated, the room lights flickered and died - as did the kitchen equipment's status lights, Tim noted - and the Lightsaber's blade snap-hissed back into existence. That was, he thought, an entirely natural reaction to the being suddenly finding itself in the dark and, while he tended to deplore the weapon being touted as a 'tool for each and every problem' it made sense under current circumstances, as already being 'in hand' - or should that be, more correctly, 'flipper' or 'fin' - for it to be pressed into service as an extemporised light source.

However, not being designed or intended for the purpose, the illumination provided by that particular Lightsaber had a nasty green cast and also fell off rapidly in intensity - if Tim remembered correctly, with the square of the distance - and was none too intense to start with! Proof, in Tim's opinion, that a purpose-designed tool beat any 'all-purpose' rival hands down.

"Don't be alarmed, friend,"; he said to the Mon Cal; "But I'm going to use my Comlink to get a status report, see how deeply in trouble we are; then I'll see about getting us some real lighting. I'm Master Kasha Sherland's Padawan. Tim Battershell - call me Tim, it's easy to remember and quick to say. My Falleen friend here is called Zurros Ka and the other human Gentlebeing is Council Member Daniel Sandstrider. He was part of the team that got a lot of Jedi out of the Ruins. My Master was on that team too. Like I said, we're some of the good-guys!"

Without waiting for either acknowledgement or permission, but keeping a wary eye on the Mon Cal, Tim used his left hand to extract his personal Comlink, set it to Life's Illusion's frequency and spoke again;

"Be a nice girl and give me a full status report, please, external and internal, as far as your passive sensors can reach."

The stream of Droid-speak that followed painted a picture of woe. He wasn't too concerned about the food-fight in the saloon, that could be cleaned up - although he was tempted to activate 'Housekeeping Protocol 101' to spray the saloon with foaming cleanser - until he remembered the warning labels on the containers with regard to eyes, lungs and accidental ingestion!

Substituting his Comlink with one of the Glowbeams he'd removed from the Illusion the previous evening, he addressed the group as a whole. "My ship's sensors indicate that Main Power is down again throughout the Temple.... That includes Shields, Sensors and Weapons. My old girl is good, but not all-knowing, so the cause of this current outage is, as yet, unknown."; while speaking, he'd been adjusting the Glowbeam's settings so it would function as an 'up-lighter' and give reasonable white-light area illumination by bouncing the beam off the ceiling. Finished, he pointed it upwards and turned it on.

"So, Gentlebeings, any suggestions, since we probably aren't doing any good by simply staying here.... And Chef, it might be advantageous to remember that the most outspoken Droid is the first to be fitted with a Restraining Bolt. Old Agamarian saying.".

IC Kasha Sherland
Pilot Ready Room 2 Temple of Light

Kasha unhooked her lightsaber and turned it on in swift stroke as she looked around. The aqua blue lightsaber lit up the ready room as she sensed disturbances through the Force from the other knights and padawans in the temple. She sensed the need to check on Lacie and the others on her padawan's ship. She couldn't leave these two alone either especially with a Sith Lord on the loose in the temple.

Kasha closed her eyes and focused around her as she sensed fear and cold. The dark side of the Force. She opened her eyes and looked at the padawans. "For the time being, you two should come with me," she said as she headed towards the door and opened it. Taab had already disappeared, most likely headed back to the TCC. She looked back at the duo and nodded towards the Hangar bay. "Major Taab would you mind escorting the padawans with me back to Tim's ship. I sense something dark near it. I sense they maybe in trouble," she paused for a second as she realized she was talking to herself. She asked him to wait outside the door but he decided to leave. She shrugged her shoulders as she looked at the other two behind her. "Let's go."

IC: Alisha Tano
Location: Hangar Bay 2 aboard the Life's Illusion, Temple of Light

For a few seconds, the food war between the Padawans paused at Lacie’s scream. Ian stood frozen, almost covered with bits of food mostly from Alisha’s plate, and the Togruta briefly took in the mess they had made. Ohh, Master Kasha is going to be sooo mad at--

SPLAT!

“GAH!” In the middle of her thought, Alisha practically took a plate of food remnants to the face. Cheese completely coated her mouth, and she didn’t have to guess who had thrown it. I am SO going to GET you Ian...! she furiously thought, getting pulled right back into the war. She lifted a hand with a look of eerie calm, and swiped it across her mouth to clean it. Then she moved on to her eyes.

“Count your blessings, Thrace!” she shouted as soon as she could see, snatching Lacie’s plate through the Force. “You’re going to need them!” Alisha reared her arm back and pitched the plate at him in retaliation, but halted the plate mid-swing. Instead of him taking a plate to the face and risk a concussion, the mostly untouched dish of self-heating food went flying in a heavy arc toward him.

In the middle of it all, the temperature of the room they all stood in seemed to drop at least twenty degrees. “?!” Alisha couldn’t hold back a shiver. Ohhh dear, did Master Kasha secretly spot them, and mess with the thermostat as revenge?

I wish it could be so simple! Alisha mentally shook her head. That charged blast of cold air came with an undercurrent of fear. Anger, or frustration was thrown into the mix as well...something was going on outside the Life’s Illusion, and it definitely was not good.

"Can you all feel that?" Lacie slowly spoke up, making it clear that Alisha wasn’t alone in facing that blast of emotion. She warily nodded, and glanced around the room. Nobody else was inside except them, and Master Kasha!

“Y-yeah, I felt it...something big must be going on.” Could it be the same Mystery Man that murdered poor Zoe, returning to butcher someone else? She visibly shuddered at the thought, and then thought of keeping Lacie safe.

"What should we do?"

“...” Alisha had no response at first. She considered looking around outside the ship for about five seconds before recalling the state of their clothes. Yeaaah, no. That is NOT going to work. “I think we should stay in here…” she finally spoke up, with some hesitation. She even glanced Ian’s way just to see if he was more nervous that she was. “At least, we know we’re safe inside.”

IC: Daniel Sandstrider
Temple Cafeteria

If there had been any one thing Daniel had been expecting upon- hopefully -diffusing the situation with the Mon Cal Jedi, it wouldn't have been the power going out. And not just because that was an oddity with how many backups the Temple had. No, he couldn't have expected all the power but the very emergency of emergency supplies going out like that. Which meant the shield was down. Which meant that Destroyer in orbit and the army on the ground were free to attack. Which meant that the Sith inside the temple had the advantage of being unknown, and the darkness.

The situation was rather unfortunate, to put things mildly. Dangerous would be a much better term. The Jedi were already paranoid about the infiltrator, and now they would have to rally to defend without power. This was not a good situation, not at all. And as a member of the Council- not to mention a former military man -Daniel would have to pick up a lot of slack himself. With all that entailed.

"Hey, Danny! I'm near the regulator that just went down. It was next on my rounds anyway, so I'm going to go get that back up. We need the power back, after all!"

"So, Gentlebeings, any suggestions, since we probably aren't doing any good by simply staying here.... And Chef, it might be advantageous to remember that the most outspoken Droid is the first to be fitted with a Restraining Bolt. Old Agamarian saying.".

Trying to keep track of two conversations at the same time was always fun...

"We need to be prepared," Daniel spoke up, "Probably a good idea to secure the armory and pick up better supplies for this situation. At least until the power comes back...on..."

Daniel trailed off, as something hit him like the proverbial pile of bricks.

The power wouldn't have just gone off like that. We would have had more fluctuations if the generators or regulators were going out. We would have noticed it. That means...sabotage...oh...oh...no...

"Lenea, be very careful! That Sith we've been looking for might have done something down there!"

Not waiting for a reply, the Jedi Knight turned to his partners in 'crime', "The power going out like this can't have been a coincidence. My sister's down there, trying to get it back up. But if the Sith we're looking for did this...I have to get down there. She's good, but she can't...she..."

Again, Daniel trailed off. Worry was clear in every pore of his being...

"Honestly Danny, you worry too much..." Lenea shook her head fondly, hand held near her black lightsaber hilt, "I'm sure that guy isn't anywhere near here. Now then...if I was a power regulator, what would break on me first..."

Running over the various potential problems in her head, the young woman moved to the malfunctioning regulator, determined to get it fixed up as soon as possible. After all, she was the best engineer in this base. If anyone could get the thing working again before the Sith took advantage of the situation, it was her!

"Go to her, Daniel, right now!"; Tim said immediately, the urgency of the situation - not having been told and not having realised that Miss Lenea was isolated from the rest of the group and away from well frequented areas.... just like Zoe had been - making him forget all formality. He quickly handed the Glowbeam to Zurros Ka while saying; "Please go with him, Zurros. Act as torchbearer. You'll both be able to move faster with some illumination and, if it comes to it, he'll be able to fight unencumbered.".

Turning to the Mon Calamari, he continued; "If you'll be kind enough to come with me to my ship, friend, there are more of those Glowbeams aboard. Despite my Master being there, there's also a, possibly tempting, target - if young Zoe was actually killed to prevent her talking about something she'd seen, heard or Sensed; maybe without realising the significance of it at the time. We can make shift to illuminate our own way for that short distance with our Lightsabers. Mine's the DeepWater parked in Hangar Bay 2. Sorry to keep addressing you as 'friend' but I don't know your name."

Dropping his right hand to the rear of his Lightsaber's hilt, he turned the pommel-knob to the right until he felt the click indicating the weapon was in 'Point-Five' mode. Then, resuming the 'fencer's grip', he slid the weapon forward, off the end of the dovetailed slide and ignited its yellow-gold blade.

IC Ian Thrace
On "Battershell's" ship, Hangar Bay 2, Temple of Light, Saridona Prime

“Count your blessings, Thrace!” Alisha screamed at him after getting splatted. “You’re going to need them!” Ian flinched as she rared back, ready to hurl even more at him. However, the attack never came. instead the room was filled with a sense of cold, of dread, as a sense of fear came rolling in towards them from beyond the ship's bulkheads.

"Can you all feel that?" Padawan Tano nodded in the affirmative to Padawan Lacie's question before she answered. "Y-yeah, I felt it...something big must be going on.” Ian nodded along to that, too dumbfounded at the moment to say anything.

"What should we do?"

There was quiet that seemed to last forever, though Ian was sure it was only a few seconds. “I think we should stay in here…” Padawan Tano looked over at him, looking for reassurance, or maybe even to reassure him. "At least, we know we’re safe inside.” Ian nodded dumbly again. He was gripped with fear at the moment. He didn't really want to stay on "Battershell's" ship, but he wanted to out there, where the feelings of fear and dread were coming from, even less. He swallowed hard, a sound that could be heard throughout the lounge, before he finally said something.

"Yeah...let's stay..." He trailed off, overcome with fear again and unable to say much more.

IC: Kai Dareagen
Temple of Light, Saridona Prime

The growling in his stomach grew as Kai walks the hall heading towards what he thinks, is the Cafeteria. There’s a bit of a spring in his step, his last interview had shed light on what was going on, Kai is close now he can feel it. Just three more interviews, wouldn’t be that hard. With his datapad tucked under his left arm he wondered what this temple had to offer food wise, it probably wouldn’t be much but, the young knight had been running full on for a day now he needs a break. Just as the thought of taking a small break enters his mind the lights flicker and then go out.

“No,” he whispers, “Nonononono.” All the confidence he had evaporated in that instant, he took too long again. He drew his saber lighting up a pitiful amount of the space around him. He activated his comlink and brought it up to his lips, “Master Piim,” he starts, “Could I see you in the TCC,” whatever was going on, it was happening there. Kai starts walking in the direction he came from heading back towards the TCC, “Sithspawn,” He says, changing frequency to Taab’s “If you’re on your way to the TCC I’d like to discuss something with you.” Now was not the time to dance around it was time to go head long what he should have done in the first place. He hopes he is right, that who he suspects is the one behind it all, because he shutters to thinks what will happen if this continues. Part of him could feel something off, something not right.

He changes the frequency of his comlink to Knight Aroon’s. “Knight Aroon, you know who this is, I know you are innocent.” The young knight took a deep breath, “but, others may not believe that, I suggest you stay in your room and not open it for anyone.” He paused hoping the other knight was listening. “Especially Master Zey. I will find you when the crisis is over,” he turned off his comm and opened himself to the force once again, taking off towards the TCC. It is reckless, to run at high speeds with an active lightsaber, Kai only hopes no one gets in his way.

IC: Healer Susruta (NPC)
Knight's dorm level

His eyes closed, the Ithorian Knight sat cross legged on the floor of his room trying to feel the flow of the Force around him. Like so many others after the "dark crystal" incident he hadn't been able to find himself in the Force. Now even the serenity of the Gardens had been taken away by the Sith. So he had stayed here, meditating, trying to find his focus while those around him hurried to and fro in their mad scramble for answers. he was a healer by trade, and though had had a lightsaber, it was more a badge of office than a weapon. He loathed the taking of any life.

It was his duty to heal, to preserve life, wherever he found it. The lights flickered and died, and his eyes flew open. Not at the sudden darkness now being dimly lit by emergency lighting, but because in that moment the Force spoke to him at long last. He had to get down to the Service levels, immediately.

IC: Knight Kayhay Ryadill (NPC)
Lower levels of the Temple

It was dark now, so dark, and the floor she lay on felt so cold to Ryadill as she clung to the last moments of her life. At first she thought it was just the feeling of her own life slipping away from her, but a look through her blurring vision at the faltering emergency light above her told her that the lights in the Temple had indeed failed, just as she had.

She had seen him, the evil that had corrupted their Temple. Seen him with her own eyes, though she hadn't realized it until it was too late. A kind smile, a friendly word had been all that was necessary to allow him too close. Even as he slipped his lightsaber between her ribs she couldn't believe it had been him all along. Her paranoia had run deep, as it had for many throughout the Temple, but not deep enough. So hard it was to let go of the idea that seeing another Jedi meant seeing a friend, an ally, and now she would pay the ultimate price.

He had left her, to die. In such a hurry that he hadn't even bothered to finish the job. But her death was inevitable now, the wound she had suffered was a mortal one, she knew that much. Still she tried to cling to life through her mastery of the force. Even that couldn't heal her now, not without the arrival of a skilled force healer, but maybe, just maybe, she could live long enough to report the identity of the Sith who had found refuge in their midst. She reached for her com link, but couldn't grab hold of it. The small cylinder slipped through her weak fingers before rolling away, out into the darkness. Her hopes went with it.

There was a noise down the hall, and an approaching light. She saw two Jedi coming towards her now through the darkness. Knight Sandstrider and the new Falleen padawan, Ka. She tried to grab onto life for just another minute, another second she had to tell them, she had to tell someone...

The droid looked taken aback by the padawan Battershell's statement. "Why I never!," it stated flatly before retreating from the group of Jedi. Knight Letali for her part still felt scared and helpless. She had rushed away from her one true friend here and now all of this had happened. Everything was falling apart. She extinguished her blade again.

The other Jedi debated for a moment what was going on and what to do about it. "If you'll be kind enough to come with me to my ship, friend, there are more of those Glowbeams aboard. Letali blinked rapidly at that. Odd, this one was calling her friend just after her real friendship with Kai had been destroyed. Still she followed him, watching the other two Jedi head down towards the service areas. Apparently the human's sister was down there and was in need of assistance. Lower levels of the Temple

He had left the Council Chamber no wiser than when he had entered it. That was not surprising. Leaving the two Jedi masters behind he had allowed the force to guide him, finding himself in the bowels of the Temple, the service areas.

There was nothing but black around him now and he lit his "borrowed" lightsaber. It was the one he had been given by Taab, the Mandalorian mercenary, in the armory. The soft green glow of the blade now lit his way through the all enveloping darkness.

“Knight Aroon, you know who this is, I know you are innocent.” Knight Dareagen's voice came in loud and clear through his comlink. “but, others may not believe that, I suggest you stay in your room and not open it for anyone.” the Inquisitor paused again. “Especially Master Zey. I will find you when the crisis is over.” Aroon did not respond, instead he turned off his comlink.

Back to his room? Now? He nearly laughed to himself. No, not now, not ever. It was time to end this...

IC: Master Piim (NPC)
Temple of Light

“Master Piim,” the voice of Knight Dareagen came through her comlink just moments after the lights went out. “Could I see you in the TCC?”

Master Piim sighed to herself. It seemed as if her meeting with Knight Aroon would have to be delayed a bit, though she wasn't sure if she should be more concerned by the sudden power loss in the Temple or by the Jedi Inquisitor's tone. "I'll be right there..." she spoke softly into the link before gathering her flowing robes about herself and rushing to the command center...

IC: Beskaryc Taab/Knight Elim Rand (NPC)/Knight Vomkoju (NPC)
TCC, Temple of Light.

"Can you get the shields online with emergency power?" Rand called out frantically to Vomkoju as the pair rushed from terminal to terminal in the TCC, trying to get a handle on the situation. "No, I've got nothing. There is barely power to run internal lighting right now!" The Twi'lek Knight was starting to crack under the strain. It was at that moment that Taab entered the TCC, looking at the pair through his T-Visor. "SITREP," he ordered curtly. They both outranked him, and they all knew it, but he with the threat looming out there he was taking charge of the tactical situation.

"Main Power just went offline, we think we lost a power regulator down there." Taab squinted, looking at the black and green image of The Negotiator (Rand) as he continued on. "Shields, weapons and long range sensors are all offline." Taab looked at the relevant consoles quickly in turn, all were in standby mode. "Can we get main power back online?"

Now it was Grumpy's (Knight Vomkoju's) turn to answer. "It shouldn't be down in the first place!" Taab looked at him quizzically, though his expression couldn't be seen through his faceplate. Still the Jedi answered the unasked question. "We should be able to handle the loss of one regulator, but one was already down for repair when we lost the second."

"How long until we get the reparable one back online?"

The Negotiator shrugged in the darkness. "Lenea is on that right now, or she should be." Taab mulled that over. He wanted a tactical team down there now then, looking after her and making sure the system got fixed before the Sith launched another all out attack. "Find out how long," he barked before the voice of Tough Guy (Kai Dareagen) filled his buy'ce (helmet).

“If you’re on your way to the TCC I’d like to discuss something with you.” Taab looked at the others and held a finger up, tapping the side of his bucket so they would know he was on comms. "I'm here now," he responded quickly before cutting the comm link. It must be something he wanted to keep off the com grid if he was coming up here personally to discuss it, especially with the lights having gone out. He looked at the faces of the two Knights in the room with him, the worry on their faces was evident. "But you better hurry," he whispered to himself.

IC: Darth Cavillous (NPC)
Hellfire bridge

The Dark Lord of the Sith rushed onto the Star Destroyer's bridge. "Why aren't we firing yet?" He demanded, irked that the Temple hadn't been turned to ash by now. The move would cost him Sixtus and Harbinger, and most importantly Praedator as well, but it couldn't be helped. He was willing to sacrifice those lesser Sith if it accomplished his goals. He was sure they would gladly sacrifice him to attain their own. Besides, there would always be others.

"The ship was not in position to attack the Temple, but to prevent escape of outgoing vessels. It will take another 87 seconds before the Hellfire is in firing position." The mechanical, yet melodic, voice of the droid echoed through the nearly empty bridge. "Very well, fire when ready."

IC: Darth Zelus, Darth Veneficus, Darth Velerius (NPCs)
Basecamp StarKiller, Cave Complex Southwest of the Temple

The dark cave around them was illuminated by a single small fire. The wardroids had no need of the light and the warmth the fire brought to their damp surroundings, so just the one was needed, for the trio of humans huddled, arguing, around it.

"I hate this waiting, Praedator should have the shield down by now," Darth Zelus, the leader of the Sith planet side snarled between clenched teeth. The cold here bothered her, though she tried to give no sign of it. Velerius smiled wanly, an unfeeling smile that would have betrayed her true thoughts, even if her words weren't so blunt. "If Praedator were worth anything, it would be, but he's not."

Veneficus shook his head, educating them both. "He is killing them in there, one by one, I can feel each death..." He trailed off, those deaths were delicious in their own right, and would be all the more so once he was able to bring those Jedi back from the dead to serve his own cause.

"One by one isn't fast enough, I want them all dead," She glared hard at Veneficus. "For good." Veneficus started to say something but was silenced as the higher ranking Sith continued on. "Oh please, no one believes in your work. Not even Lord Cavillous," He was taken aback by that. Veneficus always believed that their leader had been a supporter of his ghoulish desires. "Certainly not Harbinger or Sixtus."

Velerius' eyes lit up at the mention of the Sith Lady. "Sixtus wouldn't want them killed at all, and neither do I. We can turn them from within. Through conversion, we can take the Temple and increase our own ranks." She implored them both. "All we need to do is teach the Jedi to truly love."

Zelus and Veneficus looked to one another for a moment before they each burst out in laughter. "Love? The Jedi no more want to espouse your definition of love than they desire their own death." Veneficus was eager to say, though Zelus took it even further. "And Sixtus? Sixtus is weak, like you." Velerius reached for the pommel of her shoto. "She is more likely to be converted to the Light than somehow convince the Jedi to embrace what they fear most." Velerius stood, drawing her twin blades. "The Jedi would be doing us a favor if they killed her before we got to them." Twin red blades ignited as Velerius prepared to defend the ideals she and Sixtus held, but she was interrupted as a message came through the comm gear nearby.

"The Temple's shields have collapsed. Lord Cavillous orders to to march your forces overland and take the Temple." The droid's mechanical voice was given no life as it emanated from the device. "Looks like we have to put this little display on hold sister," Zelus said, sounding nonplussed at the idea of fighting the less experienced, and less powerful, Velerius. Though her next words were tinged with much greater excitement. "We have work to do."

They had a long march ahead of them, of course there were other assets, assets that were much closer and could take advantage of the situation now. "And call ahead to the advanced scouts. Tell them to do their worst."

The wardroid in charge of communications had one further question for her though. "Shall they attempt a rescue of the prisoners?"

Zelus didn't give it even a moment's consideration.

"No, leave Harbinger and Sixtus to their fate."

"By your command."

IC: Knights Alemar and Alivanne (NPCs)/Darth Sixtus, Darth Harbinger (NPCs)
Stockade, Temple of Light

Sixtus continued trying to stare into the eyes of Knight Archisa, to discern what the Jedi was feeling right at this very moment. But the Mirialan had become very guarded and was dificult to read. She found it rather curious though that these jedi seemed to have been frozen by the loss of power. Did they not sense the need to rush to defend the Temple and the other "precious" lives that resided therein? Or were they committing themselves to keeping watch over the Sith that sat in their cells, ensuring they didn't try to use the situation to their advantage?

Unseen by her in his own cell Harbinger leaned forward now. The Jedi could barely discern him in the faltering light, but his smile seemed to glow white. "Praedator has made his choice, and soon, very soon, his last mistake."

Bowels of the infernal Temple

It was dark down here now, almost as dark as his own soul, save for the green glow of the lightsaber he was using to light his way. That was augmented by the few dimly lit emergency lights that had come on when he had sabotaged the power. It hadn't been difficult, one regulator was already off line and the others were straining to keep up. He had thought that taking one of them down would be enough to overload the system, and he had been right. As expected, no explosives were required. Just a few simple cuts with his lightsaber had severed the power overflow safety circuits. Normally those would prevent the regulator from taking in more power than it could handle, but without them...well the results had been a minor explosion that had destroyed that piece of equipment completely.

The Temple could have continued operating in a normal fashion, even with the regulator destroyed, but these were not regular times. The remaining system was already over worked keeping the defenses online, and so it had crashed, bringing those defenses down with it. Now it was time to ensure that his hard work would not go unrewarded, if that other regulator was repaired in time all his efforts thus far would be for naught. So it was that he was able to pick his next target with ease.

"Lenea," he said to her as he approached, extinguishing his lightsaber so as to not unduly alarm her. She was hard at work repairing the Temple's last chance at mounting any sort of defense. Still she would be able to sense his approach, though not the evil he had in store for her, "Could you use a hand?"

"Just in case though, you both know how to really fight right?" The way Lacie said that set the hairs on the back of Ian's neck on edge. No he wanted to scream, he couldn't really fight. He could barely take care of himself in any sort of armed combat and was more of a hindrance than a help there.

He had another sudden chill. Well, there was the situation when the Temple had first been invaded. He couldn't remember exactly what had happened, but something had happened to him, and he had survived that just fine. He looked at Padawan Tano, hoping she would answer first, but when she didn't he spoke up, almost a whisper. "I can fight... but I'm not very good at it," was all that he trusted himself to say. Oh how he hoped it wouldn't come to that, and they could stay safely ensconced aboard "Battershell's ship.

Location: Aboard The Life's Illusion, Hangar Bay 2, Temple of Light

Now that the feeling of cold dread had passed over all three Padawans... well, two Padawans, anyway, the kitchen was eerily silent for a moment. Now, Alisha was fully aware of the mess that they had caused, as well as the fact that they had bigger worries right then. Just knowing that they'd get in trouble later had her lowering her head.

She lifted her clean sleeve to mop up the remaining stains of cheese from her face while Lacie affirmed the desire to stay. "Just in case though," Lacie continued, and Alisha paused in her cleaning to pay more attention, "...you both know how to really fight, right?"

Alisha was almost offended by that question! Even without her own lightsaber, she had plenty of basic weaponry training under her belt from back home. In all honesty, I probably have the most experience out of the three of us... Of course she wouldn't dare say that out loud, thank the Force it was just a thought! Unfortunately, Ian spoke before she could gather her thoughts. "I can fight... but I'm not very good at it." His voice was barely above a whisper, Alisha almost had to lean closer to hear him.

He was terrified, that much was obvious to Alisha. She thought back to their brief "battle," and how quickly it had ended. Could it really be called one without lightsabers clashing? The risk was definitely there! She let a hand brush against her heirloom lightsaber hilt, but kept it attached to her belt. "I'm a warrior. I live for the fight sometimes!" she began, sounding much stronger than before. There it was, that feeling of confidence that she sorely missed! She ran a hand across the back of her lekku in slight embarrassment as she finished, "Master Sherland probably wouldn't be happy with me if I'd said that in her presence...but it's true."

Even with all the confidence in the world, Alisha would have preferred the mystery threat, whatever it was, stay on the outside of the ship! That didn't mean she shouldn't try to reassure the others though...

Cafeteria and Interior Passageway to Hangar Bay 2, Temple of Light - Saridona Prime.

As expected, the mention of the words 'Restraining Bolt' shut Chef up, except for a final "Why I never!". More to the point, the 'Old Agamarian saying', which Tim had actually just made up, seemed to send Chef into retreat!

Made-up saying or not, it wasn't quite a lie, being an accurate reflection of the attitude most Agamarians had held about Droids since the Clone Wars era. Even in this day and age, except for specialist slots in organisations like the University or ASF, most of the native-born flat-out preferred organic assistance - or, at the very most, machinery that was fully organic-controlled. Agamarians had long memories and had always had a culture geared towards mutual co-operation to get jobs done. Beginning as a system of 'favours' done and returned in the agricultural sector - mainly in the seasons of tillage and harvest - it had rapidly outgrown its origins as well as any attempt to keep proper track of 'favours owed'. Still, since any Agamarians disinclined to help others received no help from others, the core of the system remained.

The Mon Cal proved not to be too talkative, bar a softly-spoken "My name, I'm Letali.... Knight Letali" as they left the Cafeteria. Tim was, for once, pleased to limit himself to a "Pleased to meet you, Knight Letali!"; without attempting further conversation, as yet. He was concentrating on performing a distinctly odd-looking and rarely-used form of footwork, intended for safely traversing rough or uneven ground, and getting re-accustomed to its rhythm.

However, he couldn't prevent a small smile from crossing his face as Letali's words reminded him of an old Vid Crime series, whose hero always introduced himself with the words; 'I'm Death.... Death Brandon'! Tim remembered some spirited debates among boys of the eight to ten age group at his school (and a number of playground fights) over the significance, if any, of the first name being pronounced 'Dee-ath', 'Deeth' or simply to rhyme with 'Breath' in any particular episode. A mystery never to be resolved; since, by the time virtually any series got as far as Agamar, it had invariably ceased production - quite often with most of the cast having died of old age!

Nor was Tim too worried by Knight Letali being behind him. He didn't think a secret Sith would chose to impersonate a Mon Calamari, if that was how it was being done. The poisoning of Dac had left Mon Cals (and, to an extent, the Quarren) as highly endangered species, therefore highly noticeable. Even if a witness couldn't give an accurate description of a suspect, his or her species was invariably correctly identified - particularly with Admiral Ackbar's prominence in the histories of the 'Galactic Liberation' period. No, the Sith had most probably adopted a Human guise as that species appeared to be the majority in the Temple. Letali was probably much more wary of him being the hidden Sith than he was of Letali!

Time to make preparations! Drawing his personal Comlink and punching the 'Illusion's hot-button once again, he began issuing instructions;

"Be a nice girl and prepare to activate all exterior lights, at full intensity, on my command. Please also patch this transmission through your internal speakers, shipwide. Copy to my Master's Comlink and relay replies from her and the cockpit pickups through to me. Patched transmission begins.... 'Attention please, this is the Captain speaking. All but emergency power is down throughout the Temple. I do not think there is any immediate danger but, as a precautionary measure, would all guests aboard please move into the cockpit, then close and lock the door. Miss Tano, please act as door-guard from inside. I'd like the other two guests to take up observation positions at the nose control stations, please. I am moving to the Hangar Bay as support, accompanied by a Mon Calamari Knight called Letali. I intend to order the ship to activate all her external lighting systems when we get close enough - so watch your eyes. She will also relay anything said in the cockpit to me, sing out if you spot any suspicious characters loitering about, please! Break.... Master, I leave it up to you whether to head to the ship or hole up in a defensible location until we arrive. This channel on your Comlink will also be relayed to me.' Tim, clear!"

The Force works in mysterious ways. In by far one of her darkest moments Suraya's prayerful plea for help had been answered ironically by complete darkness, whose abruptness had fortunately snapped her out of her vindictive urgings. But would she have really slain Sixtus? Lowering her hovering hand from deactivating the cell's force-field she felt the intense crackling shadowy energy that had nearly consumed her moments before rapidly dissolve. She honestly didn't know. It was only when she could no longer clearly see the details of Sixtus' eyes any longer due to the limited emergency lighting that she begin to realize what was happening, again. Oh no...she whimpered to herself. Now the pieces of what was potentially to come began to rapidly play out on the surface of her mind.

We have to get out of here...now. All of us. Leave the prisoners...she said glancing back at them securely in their cells. Turning on her heel she moved swiftly down the adjoining corridor looking for the nearest exit outdoors. An environment of pandemonium had enveloped the Temple as she watched the residents rushing in all directions before bursting through a side door leading to the gardens. Looking skyward she felt she could imagine what was descending towards them rapidly. His hour had come. A window of opportunity that Cavillous would ravenously seize. Scanning for any familiar faces around her she tried with all of her concentrated optimism to imagine what sort of defense, if any, they would be able to muster in light of the entirety of the circumstances before them. The hope she had so recently felt in her heart now seemed to have all but vanished.

"Reckon power is out through the whole Temple?"

Kasha nodded in agreement as they made their way through the hangar bay.She just hoped the padawans on board were safe.

"Anybody in here?"

Before Kasha had a chance to respond a message came through her comlink from her padawan learner.

"I'm here now," Sithspawn replies immediately after. That is good maybe they could end this here and now. Kai just hopes they aren’t too late. At any moment fire could rain down from above and turn this whole temple into slag and glass. Silently the young knight cursed himself for not taking more lessons in engineering, he’d be far more useful if he had any aptitude with fixing machines. He shakes his head, there was nothing to be done about it now. He still had a job to do no matter how futile or pointless it would be in this moment. Keeping his connection to the force open he wills himself to go faster, maybe just maybe, if he was fast enough he could end this.

He enters the TCC, running on the last bit of his energy, finding Knights Vomjoku and Rand, hurrying to fix the power situation. His heavy eyes look up finding, the Mandalorian standing at a station,

“Sithspawn,” he calls out, lightsaber still active, arm burning from holding it up in his weakened state. His shoulders are slumped slightly forward. He does cast a wary eye around but, doesn’t see Master Piim, she could be here but, shrouded in the shadows. “Do you know where Master Zey is currently?”

Temple Lower Levels

Caution, normally as easy to come to Daniel as breathing when he grew up with a sister like Lenea, had been thrown to the proverbial wind. He was rushing through the darkened halls of the Temple, even the relatively unknown to him lower levels, as fast as was possible. He knew that his pace was going to be pushing Zurros to keep up and not lose the light, but that barely registered. Every bit of his attention was on getting to where he could feel Lenea in the distance. Worry was gnawing at his heart, driving him beyond his normal limits of caution and energy. He couldn't let something happen...he didn't know what he would do if something did happen.

So intent was he on rushing, that the Knight almost didn't notice the sound of labored breathing. Forcing himself to slow down, his eyes started wildly scanning the area.

Oh no...oh no no no...

It was only now that he could see a crumpled body, barely breathing. He barely recognized Knight Ryadill, not someone he was personally very familiar with. But that didn't matter, because it was clear the Sith had struck again. There was a burnt mark in her robe, right between her shoulder blades. That could only have come from a surprise attack...

And even as he rushed over to the fallen Knight, his worry for Lenea had gone through the stratosphere.

"Hold on! I'll...try and heal you. Just hold on," Daniel spoke to the Knight, already trying to force his mind to focus on what little healing techniques he knew, while also giving the equivalent of a mental general quarters alarm to his sister, "Lenea, get out of there now! The Sith is down here somewhere!"

IC: Lenea Sandstrider

Lenea registered Danny's shout, but all her attention was focused on fixing the regulator. It didn't matter if that Sith was down here. She had her lightsaber, and she was confident she could hold long enough for backup. But that wouldn't be important, if the regulator wasn't back up and running. Because if the shield stayed down, the Sith could raid the Temple with their army. Or even worse...just blow them all away from orbit. It was far more important to get the defenses back, than to keep an eye out for a Sith who may or may not even be near her.

Move this right twenty centimeters...twist this screw...power up the secondary systems...

So much was her attention focused on her task, that the young woman only barely noted the fact someone was approaching her. She could see the light of a lightsaber, used as an impromptu glowstick. She could also feel a Jedi, someone familiar to her. Even so...her own hands made sure her lightsaber was within reach, just to be safe. It was probably just another worker down here...and again...

Focus on the regulator, first and foremost.

"Could you use a hand?"

She heard the voice, but Lenea only shook her head slightly.

"No...I've almost got it..."

Interior Passageway to Hangar Bay 2, Temple of Light - Saridona Prime.

Space-time was something of a buzzword, but what most didn't realise was that Time was Space and vice versa. Space took Time to advance across and Time could be gained by a prompt retreat into, or through, empty or unimportant Space. Many would-be invaders down the millennia had raced ahead of their logistical support, only to find their columns or fleets further back, quite often containing that self-same logistical support, had been destroyed by well organised counter-attacks from the flanks!

During the 'approach march' Tim had once again been reflecting on the Temple's need for some rapid transportation system, additional to the Turbolifts. Excellent as those were for rapid vertical transit, the sheer size of the Temple meant that 'on-foot travel' from most starting points to a Turbolift, and from there to the required destination, was usually a highly-time-consuming chore.

Even with the current population, now increased ten-fold by the Jedi rescued from the Ruins, keeping a strong guard-force at each of the entrances was beyond current personnel resources. Beings had to eat and enjoy other sorts of downtime, after all. Then there was the tactical necessity of setting up a highly mobile reserve to replace casualties and/or reinforce threatened areas; to say nothing about mounting counter-attacks.

He had immediately rejected anything tied to the Temple's power grids - if it were, it'd currently be as off-line as the Temple's Shields and Weapons were; so a somewhat lower-tech method was needed. At the most basic, some sort of triangular arrangement of wheels - with the front (or rear) one providing directional control - seat(s) and a system of pedals and gears for the rider(s) to drive the contraption along with. Four wheels would give the most stability, but would waste resources - labour and materials both.

Either version could mount a powerful, focussed, light source at the front for illumination of the route and a warning for foot-travellers to get out of the way; power cells (or an on-machine generator) would take care of that. Not much good for the rough ground outside the Temple walls, but definitely useful inside. It should also be possible to give the contraptions some ability to carry cargo, weapons or passenger(s) without too much loss of performance. Adding some sort of self-contained power unit to the design wouldn't be impossible either. Cable-less charging, by induction, was such a useful discovery!

Going slightly higher-tech, Tim next thought of a repulsor version of the popular Calna Muun recreational toy, the roller-board. Despite only being capable of carrying a single Jedi, and requiring both practice and a reasonable ability to keep physically balanced - steering was controlled by the transfer of body weight - it might be found useful beyond the Temple's confines, particularly as the riders retained the same ability to use personal weapons as they did while standing on the ground. Again, a powerful, cell-powered, light source could be fitted to the front of the 'floater-board'. Testing was needed to establish how much endurance and performance this sort of oddball craft would actually have; but he could see nothing absolutely impracticable in the concept. Trying for weapons or cargo capacity on something the size of a roller-board would be out of the question, though.

Coming back to the present, Tim was starting to think it likely that these Sith invaders knew little or nothing about the, hopefully, now eliminated Rakata enclave on Saridona. If they had known, the Sith might well have increased the size of the 'storming' parties' to a level capable of overwhelming even the reinforced defenders' numbers. They certainly seemed to have enough War Droids, if all of those extra ships had held similar payloads to the ones that had come down around the Temple.

Ah, that was the connecting passageway to the Hangar Bay ahead. Time to concentrate properly now and centre himself for possible combat. Still definitely some ideas to turn into rough sketches and ask his Master to bring to the attention of the Council during the next lull.

IC: Healer Susruta (NPC)
Lower levels of the Temple

Guided by the force, and the weak light of his seldom used lightsaber, Susruta made a mad dash through the halls of the Temple. Clearly it was a pull towards the lower levels, someone needed his help down there, but he knew not who. he came around a corner and found two Jedi leaning over a third who was lying prone on the floor.

"Hold on! I'll...try and heal you. Just hold on," he heard one of them say. He was brimming with an eagerness and frustration that Susruta found distracting.

"Back, get back, let me through," he called out before adding. "I'm a healer!" The pair parted before him and Susruta moved his bulk to one knee as he knelt over the still form of the Jedi Knight lying on the floor. He placed his arms over her abdomen and closed his eyes. Her life force was weak...so very weak. Too weak. "There is...no chance for her." He looked down solemnly at her face as her breathing stopped, a look of desperation and sorrow still in her eyes. He reached into his robes and pulled out a comm link, setting it to the TCC's frequency he said plainly. "This is Susruta, we have a Jedi Knight down. Lower levels near the service area. Single lightsaber wound through the back, nothing I could do to save her."

Susruta clicked off the link and reached out to close Knight Ryadill's lifeless eyes with her fingers before standing. This couldn't have been why the Force had called him down here. Not after so long of nothing but "silence". There had to be another reason...another. Yes, the pull was still strong from further down in the service levels. Someone there needed his help, now. The lights suddenly came on and he took a deep breath before racing down the corridor looking back only long enough to yell to the other two Jedi. "Quickly, we must hurry!"

IC: padawan Lacie (NPC)
Aboard Life's Illusion, Hanger Bay 2, Temple of Light

"I can fight... but I'm not very good at it." padawan Thrace seemed to be almost whispering to himself, and Lacie had to strain to hear him. It wasn't very confidence inspiring and Lacie would have thought a padawan of his age would be more sure of themselves. Padawan Tano's answer went much farther in helping assuage Lacie's raw nerves.

"I'm a warrior. I live for the fight sometimes!" It was almost a bombastic boast, but it made Lacie smile. Tano ran a hand across the back of her lekku was she embarrassed by her outburst? She shouldn't have been, they could use a little bravado right now. "Master Sherland probably wouldn't be happy with me if I'd said that in her presence...but it's true."

Lacie smiled back at her, pulling liquid cheese from her hair. "Maybe, but I'm glad for it right now. We could use a little fighting spirit here." She looked at Thrace, awkwardly. She hadn't meant it as a rebuke of his own statement, though it had come out that way. She started to apologize, but there wasn't time as padawan Battershell's voice filled the lounge.

"Attention please, this is the Captain speaking. All but emergency power is down throughout the Temple." So that's what was going on out there. "I do not think there is any immediate danger but, as a precautionary measure, would all guests aboard please move into the cockpit, then close and lock the door." Lacie looked at the others and scratched at her nose. They would be leaving behind an awful mess, but there really was no time to clean that up now. "Miss Tano, please act as door-guard from inside." Lacie smiled again at her new friend. Given her earlier remarks about fighting, she was clearly the best choice for guard duty at the hatch. "I'd like the other two guests to take up observation positions at the nose control stations, please." She looked at Thrace now and nodded earnestly in his direction, trying to give him some confidence. "I am moving to the Hangar Bay as support, accompanied by a Mon Calamari Knight called Letali. I intend to order the ship to activate all her external lighting systems when we get close enough - so watch your eyes. She will also relay anything said in the cockpit to me, sing out if you spot any suspicious characters loitering about, please!"

Lacie shrugged at the others now as padawan Battershell signed off. "Guess we should get up there," she said as the trio moved into the cockpit and locked the door.

“Did Taab take your lightsabers or did you leave them in the dormitory?”

"Yes, ma'am," Abyo answered quickly without thinking. It was hard to discern anything out in the darkness of the hanger bay and he was squinting, trying to see anythging that could explain what was going on. A sudden slap to the back of his head put an end to his search. "ow...well what was that for?"

"For being an idiot," Takkoo replied. He brought his hand back down and patted at his belt, where his lightsaber normaly hung. "You can't answer yes to an either or question."

"You cain't?" Abyo's accent mauled the word. "No of course not." Takkoo shook his head. "The Major took our weapons Master Sherland."

"Must've forgot to give 'em back to us."

"Yeah, or maybe he didn't forget..."

"Whaddya mean didn't forget?"

"Do I have to spell it out for you?"

"Well, ma..." The bright lights of the DeepWater Freighter suddenly came on, almost blinding the young Jedi who happened to be looking right at them at that very moment. "OW!!!" he exclaimed. "Who turned on the lights?"

Hanger Bay 2, Temple of Light

Their journey from the dining hall to the hanger bay went quickly enough, even in the darkness. Padawan Battershell had some quirks about him, but Knight Letali found that they made him interesting. He was doing his Master proud. Not for the first time Letali found herself wondering what it would be like to take on an apprentice, to mentor someone in the ways of the Force and watch them grow into their own. She bumped into someone, not battershell, in the darkness. "Sorry", she apologized to the Jedi she had run into. She shouldn't have been daydreaming, especially given current circumstances.

There were Jedi about the Temple, hurrying to and fro. Some stood pat in the corridors, serving as sign posts and giving direction to others. The Gardens and some of the promenade were still off limits, so beings were forced to take "the long way around". A rather nice Pau'an padawan gave them a clear direction to Hanger Bay 2. "The way should be clear up that a way, I don't even think anyone is on duty there!" Letali thanked the young man as she hurried after padawan Battershell

In the mean time the padawan had commed instructions up ahead. From the sound of things other Jedi, including Battershell's master, might be meeting them there. That suited Letali just fine, she may have been a Jedi Knight, but she would much rather another knight, one with more tactical mind set, be there to take charge when they arrived. She trusted herself, and her own senses, but having someone else with more experience never hurt.

They entered the darkened bay and Letali shielded her eyes. Battershell was about to turn on the lights and she wanted to adjust gradually to the new light source rather than be temporarily blinded by it. As she did so padawan Battershell gave the order into his comm-link. "Turn the Great Switch-on," and the landing lights of the DeepWater class Freighter (a product of her now devastated world) sprang to life.

"OW!!!" she heard someone shout. "Who turned on the lights?" Letali looked ahead, and could see there were three beings between her and Battershell and the his vessel. Then just a few moments later the hanger lights themselves came back on, bathing them all in a harsh but protective glow. "Does that mean we have the shields back?"

"Padawan, if you see Taab, can you ask him for the lightsabers he took from the two padawans I asked to see? I want to get them rearmed with everything that is going on," she paused for a second as the lights on the ship turned on. She glanced at the two padawans and nodded towards the ship. IC: Darth Cavillous (NPC)
Hellfire bridge

The eyes of Darth Cavillous seemed to glow with delight as the first turbolaser bolts finally left their guns in a bright emerald flash. An orbital bombardment followed up with a surface attack from the forces under Zelus' command and soon their Jedi problem would be but a distant memory. He watched eagerly as the first bolts tore through the atmosphere and a second volley was launched. He pumped his fist in the air, his exuberance in stark contrast to the stoic droids that served him.

His joy was short lived though as those first shots never reached the Temple. Instead they impacted against a glowing screen that flashed with each hit. "The Temple's shields have been restored. Our bombardment is having no effect." Cavillous reached out with the force and crushed the metal automoton. He could see that for himself, he didn't need the droid to tell him what was happening! "Recall Zelus' forces, order her back to basecamp."

"By your command."

Another flash of green marked the firing of another volley at the Temple.

"And cease our bombardment," The Dark Lord ordered. Their revenge on the Jedi would have to wait. Until then, Cavillous had other things to attend to. He stalked off the bridge and headed back to the medical ward.

Taab turned to Tough Guy (Kai Dareagen) as he burst into the TCC. He looked like osik and was using his jetii'kad (lightsbaer) like some sort of overgrown flashlight. “Do you know where Master Zey is currently?” Taab shook his armored head, then realized that perhaps not everyone could see the gesture in the darkened room. "Not sure, I'm not paid to keep tabs on the General."

At that moment, The Peacemaker (Master Piim) entered the room, her grandiose robes flowing about her. She seemed far more calml than the other jetii (Jedi) was, but his question seemed to catch her off guard.

"The Grandmaster? I left him in the Council Chambers before heading here. Surely you don't think he has anything to do with this?" Taab arched an eyebrow behind his faceplate. he wouldn't have suspected the General either. He looked to Tough Guy for an answer but there was none, instead a call in over the TCC's communication console.

"This is Susruta, we have a Jedi Knight down. Lower levels near the service area. Sinlge lightsaber wound through the back, nothing I could do to save her." Taab was confused for a moment. According to his records Susruta was a healer, but was taking something of a sabbatical due to some issues he was having after the Rakatan crystal incident. What was he doing down on the lower levels?

After a moment he shook his head. It didn't matter and it seemed as if The Negotiator (Elim Rand) agreed. "That could mean the one you're looking for is down there," the Jedi said to his fellow Knight charged with the investigation. The lights came back on suddenly and Grumpy (Knight Vomkoju) cried out triumphantly. "Shields are back!" The Temple shuddered momentarily. "And not a second too soon." There was a second shudder and then a third before the Hellfire ceased it's assault.

"Clearly something is going on in the Service levels," The Peacemaker now said soothingly. "Knight Dareagen, Major. Please come with me down there. We'll get to the bottom of this."

Her tone made it clear that it was a decision that wasn't up for discussion, so the Jedi and the Mandalorian followed quickly after her. Once outside of the TCC however her tone grew far more concerned. "So tell me Knight Dareagen, why the sudden concern with the Grandmaster?"

IC: Darth Zelus, Darth Veneficus, Darth Velerius (NPCs)
Basecamp StarKiller, Cave Complex Southwest of the Temple

Zelus too had a twinkle in her eye as she watched her droid army form up just outside the cave for their long march to the Jedi Temple. They were going the "short way". Through the mountains via a series of passes. They would have made excellent ambush points for the Jedi to hit them along their approach, save for the fact that her forces already controlled them. They would arrive unmolested and storm the Temple with superior numbers. Deep in her mind Zelus hoped it wouldn't be that easy, she craved a challenge, the chance to go blade to blade with someone worthy of her abilities. And she wanted to make that being, whoever it was suffer before their eventual death at her hand. It would be glorious, and she would savor it like she savored the memories of all the jedi she had killed during the war and since.

A far away explosion echoed through the caves and as one all the Sith looked to the Temple. "The Hellfire is bombarding the Temple!" Velerius cried out in dismay. That would upset her, her friend Sixtus was in there, and was unlikely to survive an orbital assault. Like Sixtus, Velerius believed in converting these Jedi, so killing them all also went against her own personel mission.

The bombardment went against Zelus mission as well. She wanted to best these Jedi in one on one combat, to feel their deaths at her hand. Destroying them and their Temple from above robbed her of that chance, and robbed her of her victory. She would make Cavillous pay for that one day. Conversely, Veneficus was in the throes of delight at the prospect of the Jedi dying in droves. Their fresh corpses would serve his experiments well.

There was another volley of fire from above followed by another explosion. The Sith couldn't see the Temple, but Zelus couldn't imagine there would be much left by the time they arrived. Damn Cavillous, damn him to hell.

"Lady Zelus, Lord Cavillous orders us to return to basecamp." Zelus looked around, they hadn't quite left yet though she supposed now there was no point. "The Hellfire indicates that the orbital bombardment is proving futile against their shields." Zelus looked up, noting the turbolaser assault had indeed halted, but useless against their shields? That was a problem. "Confirm that."

The droid turned back to its communication gear, there seemed to be two conversations going on at once though the droid handled it without assistance. "Hellfire command informs us that shields have been restored at the Jedi Temple. Their bombardment incurred no damage." Well that was that then, if the shields were back up neither the Hellfire nor the surface force could hope to penetrate the temple's defenses. All of this had been for nothing. It was back into the caves now.

"Very well, order all droid forces back under cover."

The droid commanders as well as the other Sith moved swiftly to obey, but her communication droid had one last bot to offer her. "What of the advance scout team?"

Zelus arched an eyebrow, that must have been the other conversation the droid had been having on the comms. "What of them? Order them back to their observation points." She waved the droid away, though it took a moment before she noticed the droid hadn't moved. "That would prove quite impossible. The advance team indicates that it had already pentrated the Temple's southern gate when the shields came back online."

Zelus felt her head snap back at the news. Maybe Praedator's little stunt wouldn't be completely wasted after all. The advance team was only two dozen droids, she doubted they could get to the Temple's command or power centers and deactivate the shield again, but they could cause some damage.

"Tell them to hit as many soft targets as they can before they are destroyed."

IC: Knight Alyali Pasholl (NPC)
Main level, near the southern entrance, Temple of Light

The sudden power outage had caused chaos to erupt within the Temple. A Jedi was not normally an easily excitable being, but everyone was on edge with the prospect of a traitor of some sort among them, and seemingly invincible foes out beyond the Temple walls and orbiting up above. The human female had been away from her post for just a moment, things had slowed down, and when nature called, one answered, even a Jedi. Of course the Force had a sense of humor and decided that was the moment for the power to go down. Now she hurried back to where she was supposed to be, guarding the south gate.

Suddenly four others crossed her path, who exactly it was she couldn't discern in the darkness, but their force signatures suggested Jedi...or at least not Sith. "Follow me," she yelled to them, hoping they would follow her. She hadn't left the gate unguarded. A Nautolan Knight by the name of Tyroli had been there with her. But under the circumstances, power loss could mean only one thing, invasion, and she wanted all the help near the gate that she could muster.

She looked back to make sure the others were following her, igniting her saber to light the way, it's blue glow cast eerie shadows as they ran through the corridors. Up ahead blaster fire could be hard, along with the snap-hiss sound of an activating lightsaber. The sound of blaster fire died down shortly thereafter and then the lights came back on.

The sight that greeted them made her blood run cold. Tyroli's body lay there by the gate, riddled with blaster bolts (as were the walls around where he had fallen). The gate itself was still open though a shimmering effect seen while looking outside told her the shield was up. She looked around seeing no signs of the attackers other than the pock marked walls, and then at her new companions. "Did they get inside?"

Bowels of the infernal Temple

"No...I've almost got it..."

Excellent Praedator thought to himself, she would never see this coming then. Another murder, the loss of another regulator. The Jedi would never be able to recover from that and with as instrumental as he was to all of it, Cavillous would have no choice but to elevate Praedator to his right hand man. He slowly brought the lightsaber up as he neared her. He didn't want to alert her of what was about to happen. He smiled cruelly to himself, just one more step...

...and the the lights come back on through a harsh glare over both he and Lenea. Damn her! She had repaired things more quickly than he would have thought possible. He was sure too that the shields and other defensive systems were back online as well. He was so close! He felt his anger rising and he lost his self control for a moment. "You!" he shouted causing Lenea to turn around. She could clearly see the angry snarl on his normally calm face, and Praedator watched as understanding dawned upon her. She knew who and what he was now. Well, he was going to kill her anyway, he ignited his lightsaber.

Knowing what was coming, Lenea reacted quickly though, swinging the hydrospanner in her one hand the Sith while reaching for her lightsaber with the other. The tool caught Praedator on the arm, slicing through his "Jedi" robes and into his arm. "Arrgh," he screamed out in pain. There may have been some Sith, like Zelus, who enjoyed the sensation but he wasn't among them. His response was just as, if not more painful for her though as he thrust the lightsaber through Lenea's chest. "Your work here is done," he said through a sneer, though it was more a painful grimace now.

He withdrew the blade and watched her crumple to the floor. Now to destroy this regulator and bring down the Temple's defenses for good. Noises from down the corridor distracted him though. Voices!" Others approaching, they were...too close. He could handle one Jedi easily enough, but this would be too many. He had so much more work to do, he couldn't risk being exposed now. Snarling to himself he again began to project an aura of calm as he retreated from the repaired power regulator and Lenea's body, headed away from the approaching voices. There would be other opportunities to bring down the Temple's defenses, he looked down at the deep cut on his left arm. But first he had to take care of himself.

"Not sure,” the Merc replies. “I'm not paid to keep tabs on the General." Kai hardens his eyes, wasn’t Taab supposed to keep watch over all the Jedi, shouldn’t he know where everyone is all the time.

The door behind him opens causing him to jump just a little. He sees Master Piim entering, her grand robes bellowing behind her.

"The Grandmaster?” she responds “I left him in the Council Chambers before heading here. Surely you don't think he has anything to do with this?" Kai nods his head he was about to explain.

"This is Susruta,” a voice Kai didn’t recognize rang out from the communication console. “We have a Jedi Knight down. Lower levels near the service area. Sinlge lightsaber wound through the back, nothing I could do to save her." Anger grows inside the young knight, he failed, again, a third time. Another Jedi was dead and it was all his fault, he was too slow, too stupid to find the infiltrator.

"That could mean the one you're looking for is down there," Rand says looking Kai’s direction. He knows the older knight is trying to be helpful , boost the young man’s spirits but, all it did was stoke his rage. Everything was falling into place, it wasn’t Master Zey, if Piim had just left the grandmaster in the Council Chamber, then it was impossible that he’d be below in the service corridors. The lights came back on and Kai drops his arm. Vomkoju seems happy for once, all the Human can feel is more hatred, at himself.

"Clearly something is going on in the Service levels," Piim’s voice calm, but it did nothing to sooth his burning heart. "Knight Dareagen, Major. Please come with me down there. We'll get to the bottom of this." Following Piim out the door with Taab, the Togruta turned to Kai "So tell me Knight Dareagen, why the sudden concern with the Grandmaster?"

Finally the rage boiled over. Standing near the wall, a loud scream rips from his throat as he slams the side of his left fist into wall. Once the yell is done all of Kai’s remaining energy left him. He drops to his knees out of breath and the will to keep going. The wave of pain from his hand smothers the rage, and the exhaustion snuffs the last embers. Without his anger to innervate him he found it hard to stand back up.

After a few moments and deep breaths later Kai opens his body to the Force once again. Not to speed him up but, to fortify his body, to push him past the limits of normal persons, to keep him standing despite his hunger and weakness.

Standing back up he shook his head, “If you left him in the Council Chamber then I am wrong.” He takes one last deep breath, “Let’s get going,” Kai presses on unwilling to focus anymore on his failure.

Life's Illusion's powerful landing lights came on, on command, eliciting a shriek of mingled surprise and pain from one of the three silhouetted figures at the far end of the passageway. Obviously someone had 'watched the lights' rather too literally! A young male's voice, Tim thought. Also, at this distance, he could finally Sense that one of the figures was his Master.

A moment or two later, the Hangar Bay overheads came on as well! Miss Lenea truly was an ace engineer, that was absolutely certain. Next instant, thunder overhead and a slight tremor through the structure, in counterpoint to Knight Letali's question; "Does that mean we have the shields back?"; announced that the Temple Shields were, indeed, back on line - and had just stopped a Turbolaser blast! A second or two later, another round of thunder and associated minor shaking.... a second blast! Then calm and comparative silence descended again.

"Master.... Wait up, please"; Tim called, seeing his Master look like she was about to start moving towards the ship; "We need to have a few words together before you go aboard.... Haven't seen Major Taab, though I may be able to help out with some armament if they don't mind taking a small risk".

Turning to Knight Letali, he continued, at reduced volume; "I guess that answers the Shield question, Ma'am. That's my Master up ahead, don't know the Force-signatures of the two beings with her but they're apparently Padawans she needed to see for some reason. May I suggest we deactivate our blades and hustle a little to catch up with them? There have been some goings-on aboard that my Master needs to be informed about, and calmed down about, before she bites some heads off.... Figure of speech, so don't worry that she'll actually bite anyone!

I also want to have a few quiet words with her about Miss Lacie, the young woman who found her roommate butchered this morning, where that young lady can't hear us; she's one of those aboard.

Whatever else you do, Ma'am, please don't try to go aboard, or let those Padawans try to go aboard, without my Master or I going up the ramp too. I made some improvements after we nearly got pirated one time. The result might be highly embarrassing!"

His next move was to get his ComLink out again; "Attention, Guests.... Please stay put for the moment, until we're all aboard. My old girl's already done the tale-telling bit on you, but don't worry overmuch. It's not the first time she's been a younglings' playroom!"

Alisha hadn't missed the sidelong glance to Ian, and shook her head in brief disbelief. Him, with no fighting spirit? Wait until you see him when he gets angry enough!

Alisha glanced down at her cheese soaked sleeve, and briefly wondered how it would look if it dried when a new voice erupted from... everywhere within the kitchen. “Attention please, this is the Captain speaking.” Oh, it was “Captain” Battershell”! Alisha chuckled to herself at the name, but quickly fell silent to listen. “All but emergency power is down throughout the Temple. I do not think there is any immediate danger but, as a precautionary measure, would all guests aboard please move into the cockpit, then close and lock the door.” The cockpit? They still had this mess to worry about… Alisha glanced worriedly above her head, and realized that those chunks of meat from before were still stuck tight to the ceiling. This is embarrassing…

“Miss Tano, please act as door-guard from inside.” Alisha perked again at her last name, and caught a second smile from Lacie.Talk about timing! I talk about fighting, and then I learn what my job is! “I'd like the other two guests to take up observation positions at the nose control stations, please.” She started to smile back but paused, remembering the potential threat out there. Would she really be able to defend against the Sith double-agent if they broke in? That “Sith-Bait” junk is really going to have to stop…

“I am moving to the Hangar Bay as support, accompanied by a Mon Calamari Knight called Letali. I intend to order the ship to activate all her external lighting systems when we get close enough - so watch your eyes. She will also relay anything said in the cockpit to me, sing out if you spot any suspicious characters loitering about, please!”

The kitchen went silent again, and Alisha let out a heavy breath.

"Guess we should get up there,” Lacie spoke first, making her way up and out of the kitchen. Alisha had just walked through the entranceway and was waiting for Ian to pass through when the “Captain’s” voice reappeared.

"Attention, Guests.... Please stay put for the moment, until we're all aboard. My old girl's already done the tale-telling bit on you, but don't worry overmuch. It's not the first time she's been a younglings' playroom!”

Alisha couldn’t even feel a twinge of panic for the state of the kitchen before the rest of his orders sank in. “Blast it all…he knows!” she muttered under her breath, raising a hand to cover her reddening face. How in the world did he know?! Did the ship have cameras that fed through his Comlink too? Wait… “a younglings’ playroom”? Blast. It. All.

Alisha managed to send a weak smile to her companions as she commented, “At least he doesn’t sound angry…”

Hangar bay two about to head towards Life's Illusion

Kasha heard her padawan call out to her. She paused in midstride as she heard the words we need to talk before going onboard barely registered with her but it was enough to cause her to pause. She stopped walking and waited for Tim to catch up with them. She looked at the boys. "Don't go a head of me, Tim's ship is rigged to stun anyone besides Tim and myself. You have to wait for me to go ahead of you first."

She overheard the words bite heads off come from Tim. What did he know that she didn't know? "Padawan, what's going on? Do you know something that I don't know yet?" She wondered if this had to do with the padawan's a board his ship, did they do something in her absence?
