Someone needs to post a picture of the Imperial Palace here.

That is the seminal masterpiece of the OT... [face_love]

The SSD Executor is also an elegant vessel.

Though the PT isn't bad at all. Coruscant is lovely. [face_love]

What is the Imperial Palace? Is this what they call the Death Star now?

Imperial Palace is Coruscant when the Empire is in power.

It seems to me that the ships from the prequels are way more modern eyt they are older. Did the galactic empire squander all of their funds destroying the Jedi after Vader comes to be or what? They obviously had no resources left to make decent ships. The rebels are even worse. The Y-Wing is like their version of the Plymoth reliant or "K-Car", I mean, how ghetto do the ships look in OT compared to the prequels? I'll probably get ripped but oh well.

That's in the OT? I don't remember seeing that. So obviously, the Falcon remains the top-dog of design.

Here's how the scene in ANH should have went:

LUKE: What a piece of junk!

HAN: She may not look like much kid, but she's got it where it counts.

LUKE: Come to think about it, that's a pretty hot ship!

Obviously it must be a cool ship, because remember how defensive Han got when Greedo said he'd be lucky if Jabba only took his ship?

    In simple equation form:

    The Empire = Utilitarian
    Art = Not Utilitarian
The Ships of the PT = More art inspired
Ghetto Ships = Easier, Cheaper, and Faster to build.
They may not look good, but they get the job done.

Is that the one where they put a LucasArts trailer at the end?

LUKE: What a piece of junk!

HAN: She may not look like much kid, but she's got it where it counts.

LUKE: Yeah, and we could've been driving one of those PT ships. They were terrible.

OBI-WAN: Thats what your uncle told you.

LUKE: Shut up you old goat.

HAN: Boy, you said it. Why'd you let HIM in the movie? I thought we agreed that we wouldnt be having anymore PT designs in this one?

OBI-Wan winks knowlingly into the camera at the PT viewers.

Yodaschum, your attempt at humor leaves a lot to be desired. I can laugh at myself and have often gotten a good chuckle out of some of the more humorous anti-gusher attacks, but that was just lame. You tried a little too hard to stick it to the prequel fans rather than attempting to be genuinely funny. Better luck next time.

If there's a gusher-basher war going on in a thread, and Durwood's not there to see it, is there really a gusher-basher war going on?

    "revisionism 101"

    "how to deal with critics"

"if its aint broke, fix it anyway"

    and

"how to sell the same thing ten different ways"

    1) It is only your opinion that he is revising his own history. You certainly can't prove he didn't want to do the things he did to the SE's way back when he first made the films.

    2) I admire the way he handles the bile spewed by critics. Lesser men would let it get to them.

    3) To Lucas it was broke.

    4) If people don't want what he is selling people don't have to buy them.

The only people who are being duped are the ones who are buying something they don't like. If you are doing that, then please stop.

    You don't like this stuff.

Dude, these posts gave me a good laugh!

You know, all this "negative" attention really is cathartic in an odd sort of way. It makes me understand just a little bit of the psychology that goes into some of the basher "lightning rod" posts designed specifically to generate negative responses.

"1) It is only your opinion that he is revising his own history. You certainly can't prove he didn't want to do the things he did to the SE's way back when he first made the films."

except for the mulititude of contradictory statements he has made over and over again.

"2) I admire the way he handles the bile spewed by critics. Lesser men would let it get to them."

yes he just attacks their character and demeans the whole idea of criticism, ad hominem, ad hominem, ad hominem. now i know where some posters here get their discusion skills.

"3) To Lucas it was broke."

and to millions of fans all over the world, for two decades, it wasnt.

"4) If people don't want what he is selling people don't have to buy them."

they arent. fewer and fewer people buy the stuff with every film.

You forgot to add you and others contribution: "No, he's a hack!"

    Highly enlightened. [face_plain]

I certainly see his point about how critics don't seem to offer anything useful for him.

What are these contradictions you speak of?

The ones I have heard in the past usually turn out to be speculative at best.
