I love the little echoes of the movies you keep bringing in. Here it was in that line of Anakin's about the Wookiee "yet proving useful".

Behind her, Leia could hear Han curse as the Falcon?s newly rebuilt engines sputtered before going off-line. She couldn?t hide her smile; some things would never change, and she was glad of that. She greeted Moff Balbri?s attendant diplomatically, her thoughts suddenly becoming scattered. The Force was crying out to her, but what was it saying?

Sakiyan tracker, Ral Komad entered the Corusca Gem casino cautiously. Sakiyan?s were known throughout the galaxy for their keen senses, and Ral was no exception. A thin layer of sweat covered his deep, red skin, and his pointed ears twitched slightly. He hated the fact that he had been forced to take this job, but he owed the man a favor. Damn his sense of honor and all the trouble it had brought him, he cursed.


BTW: After viewing a new official image earlier tonight, I've developed a heck on an idea for later in this story. And here you folks were worried about Azrakel...

Author Note: Okay, it has been a while since I?ve written any serious action scenes, so my apologies if this first one is a bit rough. Feel free to make constructive criticism concerning the scene, as I?ll be doing MANY more action oriented posts later on. Anyhow, I?m still adjusting to writing action scenes again, (too many vignettes of late), so please be patient as I get back into the swing of things. Also, I do know the fate of a certain planet, but it will be explained in a later chapter. With my personal disclaimers out of the way, I?ll be quiet and let you read now.


Chapter 7
Intersecting paths

What is Lady Lumiya waiting for? Why am I being told not to act against the Princess yet? Vaj Balbri wondered, his frustration growing with each passing minute. Leia Solo was under his very roof, yet he had been sternly ordered not to act. It made no sense to him. This had been his Master?s desire, her plan, so why the sudden delays? And there was another issue that troubled him, as well. He only had a limited window of opportunity in which to arrange her death at the hands of her son. He had to be off the planet as quickly as possible, that was a must.

Vaj had reminded Lumiya of just that fact when they had spoken last, but she had been unconcerned. Her assurances of his continued safety, however, rang hollow in the Force. That had frightened him more than he cared to think about now. Had he somehow made himself into a liability? Or had he simply overestimated his own inherent value from the start? Either way, the answer was sure to be distressing.

She could feel the coarse sand against her bare feet, its grains rubbing between her toes as she walked. The late afternoon suns were blazing in the sky above, and she couldn?t help but smile at the warmth they provided. It had been so long since she had been back on Tatooine, but it felt right. Even though many of the memories from this place were painful, as they reminded her of Anakin, it was still good to be back to a place that was still, in a sense, her home.

Tahiri hadn?t planned to stop off on Tatooine, but the Force just seemed to guide her here. Coming to Tatooine had taken her out of her way, yet it was where she needed to be. Why did she need to be here though? The question haunted her as she made her way through Mos Eisley. Three hours after first arriving, she reached the entrance of a seedy cantina that?s name had long since worn off the sign above the door. Under normal conditions, Tahiri would simply walk on by, but this time...

Her bare feet had just stepped across the threshold, when she sensed something amiss. From out of the crowd, a Rodian in a dirty, yellow jumpsuit stumbled towards her. The dazed Rodian fell into Tahiri?s arms, his body limp and breath coming in short gasps. She quickly lay him down, her senses stretching out for any sign of immediate danger. Her eyes locked with his, but the Rodian?s eyes closed only a moment later. He was dying, and there was nothing that could stop it now.

?Beeda and Lum...,? he gasped. The unfinished words were forced out an instant before he succumbed to his injuries.

Tahiri was still processing the, now dead, Rodian?s words when she felt danger approaching. She raised her emerald gaze from the dead Rodian to survey the cantina. Beings of various species were gazing at her quizzically as she knelt on the floor, but none made a move towards her. Still, there was something very wrong.

Standing up slowly, she intended to inquire ab
