She wrote...what I forget.
Truce at Bakura and Balance Point OH! where Mara found out she was pregnant! my favorite part in the NJO
My son showed me this video. I was cracking up. It is how The Return of the Jedi should have ended.
Oh, here is the one for Empire Strikes Back.
Lol. HISHEs are great. They have a ton of videos like those on YouTube. I'm pretty sure they also did one for A New Hope.
Did u see the one for the Star Trek movie..It was totally hilarious.
LOL! That Star Trek video was funny!
I am watching the history channel and it is saying Mara is the feminine form of the Aramaic word for Master. I did not know that.
Huh? Mara is Hebrew for bitter. Mara (who changed her name to that from Naomi) was the mother-in-law of Ruth (who was the grandmother of King David). But it may also mean that too. I just don't trust the History Channel, or as us History majors call it, the Hitler and Ailien Channel.
I just remember something..I forgot about my challenge ..Good thing I still have a week to go.
Ruth was actually the great grandmother of King David...Ruth Married Boaz...they had a son, Obed. Obed was Jesse's father. Jesse was King David's father.
I bet that's why Tim Zahn chose the name Mara...she was a very bitter woman at the beginning. And I think the last name of Jade comes from her green eyes.
it reminds me that I need to get to work on a semi epic fanfic I want to write, but I keep getting blocked (I think since the weather here where I live still refuses to get to SPRING...my muse has taken off...maybe for Florida)...I need to read the book I am writing a star wars version of and watch the movie.
They way I've always tranlated it as...Mara Jade...a jaded bitter woman
That's true, but the show said it was also a feminine form of Mar which is Aramaic for Master. Hey I found something about it in Wiki...so it has to be true. They can't put anything on the internet that isn't true.
Oh yeah. I always think Ruth was Jesse's mother, not grandmother.
I don't know much about Aramaic, so that could very well be the case, but in interviews Zahn said he choose it because of the bitter meaning and he choose Jade because in one of his dictionaries, one of the meanings for jade was outcasted woman or something.
I wasn't arguing that point. I simply never heard that definition before and I thought it was interesting and fitting for a Jedi Master.
Yeah, it is interesting. I wonder if Zahn knows that is an alternative meaning.
So, do we want a April/May challenge? I don't mind doing one, but no one has really participated in the last 2 challenges.
I have a tendency to blow off challenges unless I volunteer first. Like when we pick a number and the subject is given to us to write. Sort of like the gift exhange or we are assigned a task to write into the story.
Oh, like the ones where you pick a number and you get a quote or something. Those are fun.
Yeah, like those. Then your name is on a number and when you write the story the link is put next to your name so people can see who hasn't written their story. I think putting the pressure on is the only way to get some people to write.
Ok. I will keep that in mind.
In my defense I have several stories I'm writing. So I have a hard time writing those much less any challenge
I meant to do the challenge but it's been a rough month. I am behind on everything, including reading. But I will catch up!!
I'd definitely be willing to do more challenges.
I really shouldn't give myself so much to write..but the ideas come to me
Alright. If I do put up a challenge, it probably won't be till mid-April. Exams are upon me. EEEEKKK!
