I can completely understand Qui-Gon's reaction.

It was agony for him seeing Tahl in such bad condition...but still [face_frustrated] [face_frustrated]

At least the Temple is send a team(s) to Melida/Daan.

Hopefully they can find out what happened to Obi and find him

Qui, you've done it again <shakes head sadly>. There's something to be said for being too closely connected to the Living Force - when it's so focused it misses everything else.

Like a boy in need of guidance - way to behave, Jedi master.

A little tension is good for Qui-Gon makes him see clearly.
But going back, will it help?[face_thinking]

Qui-Gon is good with the guilty conscience complex.

He?s going to feel really guilty when he gets back there.

You have 10,000 credits saved;[face_dancing] well I hate to tell you. You don?t have enough.
    Nope! don?t feel sorry for Qui-Gon yet.o_O

Taren, Garen Karen, Sharon umm[face_thinking] I could go on. It?s hard trying to find the right name for the characters isn?t it?

a little faster you say, umm I wish that could be so. It is a common problem.:_|

Qui-Gon has a tendency to do the wrong thing, as far as Obi is concerned.
He can be misguided at times.o_O

Hi Padawan! I'm back! Great story so far! You are building the suspense beautifully. I hope Qui-Gon gets back there quickly and finds out what happened to Obi-Wan, then rescues him. But how will they repair their broken relationship? It will take a great deal of effort on Qui-Gon's part to rebuild the trust between them. Hope you post more soon.

    Chapter 4
    ooo

Qui-Gon impatiently settled the ship on the landing pad. His hand automatically pressed the release button, to open the hatch. His conflicting emotions warred inside him. He felt torn between escorting Tahl to the healers and returning to Melida/Daan.

Tahl made the choice for him as they carried her down the ramp, ?Qui-Gon, you must go back, don?t leave him there!?

?I will I promise,? he said as he gently touched her hand. His shame rose to his face when Master Yoda hobbled towards him.

?Take good care of her the healers will. Your message we received. In need of assistance are the people of Melida/Daan. Sent Jedi teams to settle their dispute we have.?

?Good, I?d like to return there myself immediately.?

?No need for you to go back there is, Qui-Gon. You and your apprentice have done enough.? The little Master glanced towards the craft, ?where is your apprentice, Master Qui-Gon??

Qui-Gon Knew it was foolish to hide any information from Master Yoda. He had hoped for time to consider his lack of good judgement before he spoke to him. Yoda?s glare told him it was too late.

?I left him on Melida/Daan. I?ve made a serious error in judgement.?

?To leave your padawan alone on a mission is against the code, Qui-Gon. This you know.?

?I didn?t leave him to deal with the mission. He argued with me and I foolishly left him there!? He said shaking his head in despair.

?I know I?ve failed to uphold the tenets of the Force. I let my emotions rule me and I?ve acted contrary to the will of the Force. I wish to return to Melida/Daan to bring my Padawan home.?

?Speak of this in my chambers we will.?

Qui-Gon felt Yoda?s frustration rise. The air felt decidedly cooler as Yoda turned and walked away from him.

He paced the floor in Yoda?s chambers feeling very ashamed of himself and he replayed his argument over and over. Never before had it been so hard to control his emotions. He hadn?t believed Obi-Wan when he said Tahl contacted the temple. He berated Obi-Wan for letting his emotions pull him into their war. Instead of mentoring Obi-Wan, he left him to find his own way.

?I?m ashamed to call myself a Jedi Master. I realise I wanted him to fail. I wanted to prove that he should?ve stayed in the agri-corps. I must bring him home. I failed him and I?ve failed in my duty to protect and guide him as his Master.?

?Yes home he should come, but first he can assist the Jedi team we sent. Yoda said pointing his stick at Qui-Gon. ?His knowledge of the situation will be invaluable in finalising a treaty. Contact them we will, Obi-Wan can assist them. In the meantime meditate you should on your actions. Until you see your path clearly, of little help will you be to Obi-Wan!?

Qui-Gon felt miserable after his session with the soul healer. It was well into the next day and he hadn?t heard anything from Melida/Daan. He made his way to the garden of Peace and Tranquillity. He felt energised by the living Force when he meditated in these peaceful surroundings and he remembered the first time he saw Obi-Wan. The boy was sitting in the shade of a tree his hands resting in his lap. Qui-Gon sensed him trying to meditate. There was an aura of mystery surround the lad and Qui-Gon sensed his distress through the Force.

At the time, he wondered if he should speak to him and help him through his difficulty, whatever that may be, but he didn?t want to raise the boy?s hopes that maybe Qui-Gon would take him as his apprentice. He certainly didn?t want the boy to latch onto him. He noticed Obi-Wan a few more times sitting in the same spot over the months leading up to him taking him as his padawan. Qui-Gon felt compelled to glance at th

    Chapter 5
    ooo

His face was pressed against something cold and yet he felt like he was on fire. His mind buzzed with random thoughts and he could hear some words being spoken. ?Reach - compound - boss - Rylstone ? dead- dying- healer- brat. The disjointed words didn?t make any sense to his addled brain and his eyelids wouldn?t open. They seemed to be stuck together. There was an obstruction in his throat, which stopped him from swallowing and every part of his body ached.
Pain lanced though his body as someone turned him over, but he couldn?t utter a sound and his head lolled to one side. He had no strength in his body at all. The cool feeling of metal underneath him was only fleeting, his body heat absorbed the cold floor and the inferno inside him took over once more.

?Gunther, how long before we reach the compound??

?In four days Boss, we have one more slave auction to attend on Rylstone. I received confirmation that there are two Wookiee?s for sale and you wanted a couple for the mines. We?ll get them tomorrow and then we can head home.?

?Ah, good I?m anxious to put my new pet to work.? He said glancing at Obi-Wan.

?We?ve had a good run Boss, we?ve only been away for two weeks and we?ve bought some good strong slaves.? Gunther said as he glanced at Obi-Wan, who was curled up in a foetal position on the floor. ?Boss, do yah think the kids alright? He don?t look too healthy - are you sure he?s not dead??

?Of course he?s not dead! he?s alright!? He growled as he watched Gunther roll Obi-Wan onto his back.

?Gees, boss! He?s burning up. I think he?s dying! Do yah want me to get the healer in here to check him??

The boss pushed past Gunther and knelt down to touch Obi-Wan. ?He?s probably just asleep. Wake up brat,? he said as he touched his skin. ?You?re right he?s burning up! Go and get Rocco and hurry up!?

A few minutes later, a tall brown-skinned man with grey hair entered the cabin with Gunther right behind him.

?What?s up Boss, got a sick one have we??

?Rocco, you?re the healer, you tell me! He?s burning up. Find out what?s wrong with him and fix it.?

?How long has he been like this? His face is swollen and his eyes are puffed-up. It looks like his whole body is infected. He?s at deaths door boss! I think he?s too far-gone and I?m not sure I can save him.? Rocco said shaking his head as he touched the boy?s hot dry skin.

?You better save him or else I-? the boss started to say.

?You?ll what!? snapped the healer. ?You know I?m the best healer you?ve ever had. You don?t scare me like you scare your men! I told you before if you want to keep a personal slave, you have to look after him. You let the last one die before you called me! Now this one is nearly dead. Make up your mind, if you want this kid to survive and serve you, then you?re gonna have to lighten up on the punishment!?

Gunther shied back into the corner. He knew the healer had a volatile temper that almost matched the Boss?s. Gunther could never talk to the boss like that and live to tell about it. Yet he?d heard the healer speak to him before like that and get away with it. Gunther wondered if it was because Rocco had saved his life a few times over the years. He could see rage in the boss?s eyes and his face turned a brighter shade of red. His hands were clenched into fists and he glared at Rocco. It was a stalemate for a few minutes as neither man spoke. Then abruptly the boss looked down at Obi-Wan and released a breath.

?Fine then, just fix him and I?ll think about what you said.?

?I can?t promise he?ll live, but I?ll do my best.? He picked up the boy and headed towards the door.

    ?Where are you taking him??

?To my cabin boss, I can?t treat him here; he?s in a bad way. He needs medicine and antibiotics. There?s still a chance he?ll di

Ok, I'm going to say that this will have a happy ending, because it's just your style... Hmm. Maybe Obi finds a friend, like Guerra? Or another slave who is Force sensitive.... Or... he gains favour! And is given a chance to escape! Or... his Master goes back to Melida/Daan and Neild recognises him, and they track him down! :D

I hope this has entertained you. :p

Oh, Geri, nice post! Obi-Wan's fear really comes through well. I don't quite understand the suppression of his Force abilities. If I were him, I'd hide them and wait for the proper time to use them, but he's only a kid and has never really had the guidance he needs. Great job! I can't wait until Qui-Gon rescues him and gives the slave owner his comeuppance.
